I really think this mall is the best in the Hampton Roads area. Boasting a Nordstrom, Apple Store, Aldo and great places to eat like Kincaid's, I would much rather be here than Lynnhaven. The food court, while not as diverse as Lynnhaven, has a Chili's restaurant right next to the kid's play area. All in all, I feel like MacArthur is a much more upscale mall and I'm surprised at how many people in Virginia Beach refuse to go because it's "too far away." It takes me like 15-20 minutes to get here (I live near Regent University) and it's well worth the drive. read more

We live just 2 blocks from the MacArthur Center Mall. WOW! A high-class, high-end shopping mall within waling distance is phenomenal. Our kids (9 and 11-1/2) recently visited the mall and said "we could live here; they have everything". What better compliment. I'm amazed that the mall always seems busy, a good thing, with people with shopping bags, an even better thing. Support the shopping downtown to (1) keep the retailers open and profitable and (2) encourage more retailers to move in. read more

Love!!! Favorite place to shop and usually end up in the Apple store for way too long. This is the nicest mall that Hampton Roads offers bar none. The areas only Nordstrom is here and a fabulous anchor for the mall. You do have to pay to park in the garage, but it's cheap and worth the cost to me. I rarely find any type of debris in the walk ways and the garage for the most part is kept up as well. I like the fact they offer trash cans at all entrances. When tired wonderful leather seating is offered in a lot of the areas, as well as restrooms that are very well maintained. The food court is not spectacular, but you will find something to eat. Every since Cheesecake Factory's specialty store that only did sandwiches left I have been disappointed. Our favorite sit down place to eat is California Pizza Kitchen. For the kids they will LOVE the play area, mine did up until two years ago. The enforcement of the kids area is fierce, they will kick you out for violating rules which is awesome. Who has not had a 6th grader come and knock over your 2 year old at Lynhavenn Mall. This mall also features the BEST Santa and decorations for Christmas. Beware, if you are under 18 you must be accompanied by an adult and security is all over this place (a great thing) and they will ask you to leave if there is not proof of an adult. MacArthur is a very basic, beautiful mall, all around. As someone who has also worked in it, I can say that the clientele are very friendly and it's always an interesting day when crew ships full of foreign visitors dock in Waterside and everyone checks out the mall. There's a pretty decent variety of stores, perks including the Apple store, Godiva, Aveda, and L'Occitane. It's true there is no drug store, which is a setback, but there IS a convenience store on the first floor called, appropriately, "Mr. Convenient". It is located on the first floor between Dillards and Max & Erma's. Most of the medicine (even cough drops) is kept behind the counter. Not sure why...just how they do it. It's not the best mall for a younger crowd, since it's in the middle of a downtown area full of college students or business professionals. If you're looking for a full day of affordable shopping, hop on 264 and take the 15 minute drive to Lynnhaven. The stores at MacArthur have incredible sales, but once you've been there a few times, it seems to get smaller with every visit. There are actually some great restaurants at MacArthur. In terms of dine-in seating, Johnny Rocket's, Kincaid's, CPK, and Max & Erma's always have great service. Up in the food court I absolutely recommend getting the loaded fries from Steak Escape, with bacon and cheese...a huge serving for a great price. There's also a Cheesecake Factory Deli, meaning none of their regular menu food, if you've ever been to the restaurant, but the cheesecake is just as decadent. If you just want a bite, don't leave out Nathan's (hard to find those) and Pretzel Twister (the one by Lids, NOT the one by Icing). If you just really need a day to yourself or get sick of walking around, there's also a 2-story Barnes and Noble to check out a good book and de-stress for a few minutes. Finally, don't forget about the movie theater...a really nice setup and plenty of theaters so it's not too crowded and you can usually find whatever movie you're looking for. read more

$1 parking to go along with a bright, beautiful and clean mall...I'm in! This past weekend I had the opportunity to visit and caught a few deals. They have a nice selection of stores and everyone working seemed very upbeat and friendly. I'm a Charlotte Russe freak so I will say that store is what I remember the most. There is a nice food court that includes Boba tea and fresh sushi vendors among other options if you're looking for a quick bite. I'm really looking forward to stopping by again on my next trip to Virginia. read more

Completely mediocre mall. My question for those rating this mall five stars ... what are you comparing it to? Other local malls? Downtown Norfolk? Other shopping options? I'm not sure what the standard is here. This mall is nice because it gets one off the scruffy streets of Norfolk, and this is especially useful at night. As a shopping utility, the mall has exactly the stores you think it has. Nothing in here stands out as a must-visit. As a dining option, again, it's all the same lousy chains. And I'll tell you what - I've never been treated more rudely than I was in this mall. When I bought some food, the cashier would not even look me in the eye. Just looked right by me like I was a huge inconvenience. I know it's been some years, but I don't remember Norfolk being such a rude town. This is an average, 2.5-stars mall, perceived by most as a 5-star mall because of its location in a 1-star city. read more

I have had arguments with several colleagues/friends who complain that a mall is the last thing needed in downtown Norfolk--that it's not very becoming of a "real" urban center. I say poo-poo to that. The opening of MacArthur Center effectively created a gateway to downtown. It's nice, it's clean, it's well lit and accessible and it's got great cheap parking. It made it so people driving in from Virginia beach or Chesapeake once again felt comfortable coming to downtown Norfolk where, let's face it, not a creature was stirring for decades. The shops are your basic mall type stuff--lower end retail on the first floor, more upscale stuff on the second floor and the movie theater and eats on the third. The do have a Nordstrom's, easily the area's poshest department store and one of the only places around fashionistas can get their Carry Bradshaw on. read more

By far my favorite mall in this area. I'm from Orlando, and we had the Florida Mall, the Mall at Millenia, the Altamonte mall, and several others (but the ones I listed were the best ones... Especially Millenia.) Here, you have a decent selection, but this is the only one that really stands out. It is beautiful, clean, and has a great selection of stores. The food court could have a better selection, but that's not why most people go to the mall. The Barnes and Noble here is the best one in the area (in my humble opinion, of course), and the Dillard's is hands down the best shopping around here. The Nordstrom is nice, too, even if it's a little small. They do have a movie theater, which is just a typo a movie theatre. I miss the Coach store, they closed up shop last year. I don't know why, and I hate that I have to drive an hour to go to a Coach store now, but it is what it is. Anyhow, skip the other local malls... This one is where it's at. read more

This is a great mall. It has basically anything you could possibly want. It's really clean and is free of the riff-raffs I see at my local mall. I frequent here because of the Apple store - it's the only one in the area, and all my Apple products get serviced there. If you come here for the Apple store, it is ALWAYS busy, so make sure you go online and make an appointment on the website to ensure someone will be able to see you. I do hate having to pay for parking though. Because of the location downtown, I know why we have to pay for parking, but I've never been to a mall in my life where you had to pay for parking. read more

Probably the only mall in Norfolk. Well I could be wrong but this is the only mall I saw in the area. This is pretty convenient since it is near Granby St with a whole row of restaurants and bars. You can either park your car on the nearby streets with metered parking good until 6pm, after that it is free. You can also valet your car at MacArthur. Or you can self park in their garage. The rates are $1 per hour before 6pm and a fixed $2 after 6pm. Lots of stuff in this mall. There is a Dillards, food court, a movie theater on the 3rd level and bars/restaurants in random places. Very clean and a lot of security and police officers patrolling the mall so you can have that assurance that it is somewhat safe. read more

It is a typical mall but that is not what makes me love it so. I love it for one major reason and that is for its awesome play area. It is all Looney Tunes nautical themed and massive. My daughter loved it. I wish the malls at home had the same thing. read more

Plunked down in the heart of downtown Norfolk and just blocks from Waterside, MacArthur Center Mall is Lynnhaven Mall's much richer cousin. A three story monster shopping center, MacArthur caters to the high end set, with specialty stores and your only options to even browse couture fashion in this mostly casual and lowkey Hampton Roads area. I admit I've only been to MacArthur a few times and that's mostly because the huge parking garage and paid parking bug me. Why must I pay to park when I'm shopping? I guess that's what poor people say....But this is the only place in the Hampton Roads area with an Apple Store, the Bebe store is my fantasy and many other stores I can't afford. For me this mall is a special occasion, but it might just be your home base. read more

I used to love coming to this mall but ever since the drama with the minors and curfew I have avoided it. It is a little disappointing that they went that far to cut out the people with the most money to blow- teenagers. Seriously, they weren't even a problem. I never felt "threatened" by any groups of young people. I won't support any establishment that picks on teens. I see more kids running around that mall with shopping AE shopping bags than old people. Go to Patrick Henry, young ones. You're allowed to waste your paren'ts money there! Also, I hate the parking garage. I don't carry cash and it irritates me that I have to draw out a 20 tout of an ATM to pay 2.00 to park. The world runs on debit and credit. All of the stores inside take it, so why can't the parking garage? read more

Other than that sometimes I go to the movie theater here because it has the most comfortable seating without being all up on someone beside you (unless its your lover then its ok hehe). I think MacArthur is a great mall with many options. You can hop right on the tide and it stop you off right at the mall. I like that there is a Dillard's and Nordstrom because you typically only see one or the other the further south you go. I only did 4 stars because the parking is crazy and they charge you by the hour which can add up if you aren't just running in and running out. The food court is decent and there's also a movie theater on the top level. I would say this mall offers a little bit of everything for everyone. In addition to the mall the next street over offers a selection of boutiques and restaurants that's in walking distance that you can shop from. Check it out next time you're in the area! read more

Thank God for their indoor play area on rainy days. When I'm feeling trapped at home with the kiddos, to the mall we go. So glad they have this foamy, rubbery, enclosed area with vehicles to climb on for the kiddos on the top floor by the food court. Of course the Gymboree and Stride Rite stores lure us in as well, but my main attraction to this mall is the play area. While it never fails that my kids get colds a few days after playing here despite our best efforts to wash hands. Ah, such is life. The mall itself is always clean and relatively empty, but then again we are usually here during the mid afternoon hours on weekdays. read more

The best mall choice in Hampton Roads for the quality of its shops, proximity to good individually owned restaurants, not chains, cleanliness and safety. The security is abundant here making it the safest mall in HR. I know it's hard for those familiar with how Norfolk used to be to believe...but it's true. The restaurants inside the mall are really good, except maybe one that's fair. If you haven't tried the Nordstrom Cafe you're missing out, love that one! Ok that's the good here's so here's why it's not 5 Stars. First, You have to pay for parking, it may only be a buck or two but with it being the only mall in the area that charges for parking makes it a hard pill to swallow. Second, is the recent loss of some of the higher end women's stores, which is extremely disappointing to my wife. Finally there's no sporting goods store near here. Being a sports and outdoor enthusiast you'd think they'd work to recruit a Dick's or similar into the mall or nearby in some of the open land. read more

Of course it is a little pricier with Nordstrom being one of the shops but Dillards is there to counteract with some better deals. I am not haughty toughty like the mall would keep company with. MacArthur Center - Shopping Centers Near Me - Norfolk, Virginia

This is my favorite mall in the Hampton Roads area. It's the closest to where I live. It also has a parking garage (downside you have to pay). It has great stores from Dillards, Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works, to cookie stores, Auntie Anne's pretzels, to their food court of many choices such as sushi, pizza, subs, or Chinese. It also has a movie theater that has great seating. They have a kids port play area that is very clean, well made, and a security guard is on duty at the entrance the whole time (the most important of all). Also, their bathrooms are clean and comfortable. I love the fact they have family restrooms with kid sized toilets (my son's favorite). Downside? a bit on the pricey side read more

This is one of the best malls I've been to. The malls in California are nice, but not as nice as MacArthur. The play area for kids is cool and there is such a diverse selection of stores. It's also nice that they have the ice rink behind the mall in the winter, and a movie theatre inside the mall. read more

It's my new favorite mall. okay, so its been around forever now but i say new, because I feel like it's finally gotten the respect it deserves after apple opened. lets be real, that like the most important store in there. And of course you also have your typical shops in there like H&M, Forever 21, Barnes and Noble, Nordstrom, JCrew, Pottery Barn, Abercrombie (do people still shop there?). Food court is a little on the lack luster, but there's my favorite Sarku, I mean Sakura, teriyaki and a little kiosk for Sushi. Movie theater is on the third floor. pro: so much more space than the compacted Lynnhaven or Pembroke mall. plus their rules about children running amok after a certain time period won me over. It also doesn't hurt that it's walking distance from my residence. con: its pay to park, but you can at least get it validated if you plan on watching a film. read more

Less than 7 hours I decided to go inside and have a look around the Macarthur Center shopping mall in Norfolk Virginia partially influenced by enjoying previous visits to the mall part of 2008 andor 2009. Obviously multiple parts of the mall have changed since then and I noticed certain spots that were open included: California Pizza Kitchen, Johnny Rockets, Texas De Brazil, Barnes & Noble, an apple store, certain places in the food court-charlies philly steaks chilis panda express (I got some honey walnut shrimp from Panda Express at a reasonable price), a calendar games & toys place was also open at the time and I noticed at least two Bank of America atms inside the mall. The only caveat I noticed is that the mall seems quieter compared to the last time I visited even though I left the mall sometime well before 7pm and before seeing if the movie theater inside the mall was open (though to be fair this was on a Saturday night and with the covid19 pandemic being far from completely over). Aside from that caveat I obviously intend to visit the mall more times sometime in the future timeframe. read more

It's pretty much just some mall that has nothing unique about it. Come here for any of your corporate American needs. It's so corporate that it's better to just shop on Amazon.com because you'll get any same item from that website, but for cheaper with no tax and no shipping (for some). I mean, if you need to check out an Apple product at the Apple store or need some underwear from a major retailer, this is the place to be. But if you're looking for something outside of the box, this is definitely not the place to be. Who says, "Go to MacArthur Mall for an experience you'll regret not having!"? I like MacArthur Center. Wide variety of stores plus some that you normally don't see i Food Court is great and their is plenty of parking. The mall is very nice looking. The only problem I have with this place is restrooms. Finding a restroom is a nightmare. Either you have to go all the way to the Food Court or to the extreams of the mall itself. Yesterday I had to hold it until I was almost home in Hampton. WHERE ARE THE RESTUROOMS MACARTHUR CENTER? Ill make sure I use it before going next time. read more
