Most upscale and nicest Mall in theHampton Roads area. Regal Cinemas, and also plenty of food choices, from Chlis or Calif Pizza Kitchen, all the way down to the quick-fix food places, all in-house. Three floors of shopping, nice layout. Only thing I think would be improved would be hearing more modern songs while walking around. Maybe instead of "Shoo be dooo ba doooooooo--- sha dooo be dooooby" replace with Lady Gaga "Bad Romance" type music. Now that'd fire folks up for some shopping!! read more

I live in Norfolk so I usually end up going to MacArthur center when i have shopping that needs to be done. This is a nice mall with three stories. It has a nice layout and is always super clean. There are security guards that can always be spotted walking around so if you ever need assistance with anything it's not far away. One thing I love about this mall is it has a Forever 21 clothing store and separate jewelry store - I'm a girl, I need my jewelry. Speaking of, there is also a Charming Charlie jewelry store which is a recent awesome addition to the mall. Also, this MacArthur Center has a huge two stores Barnes and Noble that is somewhat new. The downside to this mall is that it's overall pretty pricey with more high-end stores than not. read more

For the Hampton Roads area, this is the best you're going to get. The Nordstrom alone makes it worth the drive from Virginia Beach. This is a more upscale mall than Lynnhaven, so I make the drive out there often if I'm in the mood to shop. So many more attractive options. The food court is pretty uninspired, though, and you do have to pay to park. Other than that, it's a fantastic place to spend the afternoon browsing. Kids will love the play area, too. read more

This mall is super clean and there is plenty of parking. Being named after one of the greatest American Military men is also rather cool. The children's looney tunes play zone is pretty awesome as well. We love taking little man there even if we don't have to do any shopping. Just a nice place for him to burn some energy. I seriously love MacArthur. I really like the selection of stores they have because compared to the other malls in the area, they have a much better variety. They have all of my favorite stores in one location which is nice to have! There's even a movie theater on the 3rd level so it's a nice place to come and stay for an afternoon. I really hate the whole deal with paying for parking. I think it's stupid, always will, and for a short time when I worked at a dept store here, I absolutely despised it to the point where it was a huge factor in me quitting. If you're there for a couple of hours, it's not so bad but if you're there all day on a regular basis it's kind of outrageous. For such a big mall, there really aren't many restaurants in it which is kind of disappointing, too. read more

MacArthur is enjoyable. Those of you used to bigger cities may not be impressed, but for this area, it's a gem. The department stores are Nordstrom and Dillard's. Restaurants include Kincaid's, Max & Erma's, California Pizza Kitchen, Chili's, and a food court. There is a movie theater and an outdoor ice rink in winter. Other stores of note include Coach, Apple, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Williams Sonoma, The Body Shop, J. Crew, Abercrombie, Talbot's, and the list goes on. I like this mall. Safe, clean, kid-friendly and bright mall with various stores at various price points with a nice playgrounds. We were surprised they did not have more traffic on a Saturday night. Bathrooms were clean and extremely kid-friendly. A toddler-size potty was available. You will have to pay about $1 per hour for the well-guarded parking. read more

Do not read my review if you can't handle the truth. Been there about 15 times over the past year so I feel qualified to write this review based solely upon my personal observations. The Pros: 1. Very clean and attractive mall. As far as cleanliness, near the top of the list. 2. The clientele that patron this mall seem to be lower middle class and higher, regardless of race. You don't fear for your life walking through the place. The Cons: 1. A bit pricey but not a big deal if you have the money to spend. 2. The Security. I understand the importance of 'Police presence' to keep undesirables in check/ and or out of the establishment but do you really need more security guards than customers? You can't walk in any direction without running into a white shirt or two. Some stare at you like you're a criminal. Sorry, 21 year retired military with no criminal record here, save your badassetry for someone else. This isn't a night club. 3. Parking. No rhyme or reason to the rates they charge. Example, on a weekday last week, I was there from 10-4. 6 hours. Cost me $9. Today, I was there 2-6 on a weekday, 4 hours, cost me $1. You seriously should not have to pay to park at a place open for business, anyways. 4. The Vallet Parking Security Guard thinks he's Rambo. I stepped out to make a call and he pounced on every vehicle stopped infront of the mall like they were terrorists. Car were there under 20 seconds and this hero was on his game. Funny thing is this mall might have 7 people a weekday use vallet parking. Simmer down, tough guy. You are only a mall security guard. read more

This is a clean, bright, elegant mall with lots of fancy shops. Their food court has a large play area for toddlers and babies on a soft, rubbery mat with a really cool theme (ship building industry). I believe they now keep a security officer close by... not for the kids... but the parents. I've witnessed a couple fathers in a shoving match arguing over one of their children hitting the other... it was pretty heated. I got out of there quick! Their movie theater has improved... as in the odor. I'm not sure why, but their theater used to have a really funky, locker-room odor. I had avoided their theater for about a year because of it. Glad they took care of that. I don't shop here often, because malls are just not my favorite place to be, but when I do, I hit Dillard's end-of-season sales and the markdowns in their intimate department. I've purchased Calvin Klein panties for as little as a $2 and b.tempt'd (MY FAVORITE) bras for less than $20. I highly recommend giving them a call to find out when they'll have their markdowns. Well worth it! My daughter loves Forever 21 and H&M. I've found great markdowns in those stores as well. Sometimes we will stop by Bath and Body Works to see if they have any lotions on sale. They have a curfew for minors and they (who are not employed here) must be accompanied by an adult. I wish all malls would abide by this. I go to this mall just about once every two weeks. Today was a nice chill day. Looked like a steady crowd. Not a lot of teens hanging out it was about 6 pm. I visited atleast 6 stores doing back to school shopping with my daughter. All of the stores had very helpful staff. I will continue my journy to this mall. read more

This is my favorite mall in the Hampton roads area. I come here quite often, whether it's to shop or to just look around. Comparing it to Lynnhaven mall it is a bit cleaner and looks more up to date. It has many stores there that I like and I always end up happy when I leave. The theater there is also impressive, although the pricing is a little higher than most. I think my only complaints would be the food court area and the parking garage. They do have many options for food, but most of the restaurants are a bit below the average on what I would consider "fresh." Many restaurants here leave food sitting out for long periods of time(especially after lunch rush). It is just disappointing to me when I go eat and my food is either hard, cold, or even tasting old. As far as the parking garage, it is a complaint on the parking being charged for. A dollar is fine, but if it's later in the day or if you stay for a few hours too long, it can end up costing you up to $10. Though it is a small price and I don't find this to be too big of a deal, other malls have parking for free. However, I still consider this mall to be my favorite:) read more

I just visited your MacArthur Center and had such a great shopping experience. Who was responsible for this? You won't believe it, but a security guard of all people named Richard Young. He is an outstanding employee. He helped us with our new born baby when we were at the indoor playground. He was extremely respectful and is a truly great human being. While my baby crawled around with my wife, I had a conversation with Richard. I found out he has 8 grand kids, 4 of which are twins. He is from Jamaica and is an United States Army Veteran with over 20 years of service to his country. He asked about my family and we had a wonderful conversation. He made me feel like family and in my 35 years of coming to malls and stores he was the nicest and most respectful individual I've ever met. What a great human being he is and a model employee. This man should be given a raise and be promoted. Never have I ever been treated with such dignity and respect by a security guard. I recently lost my job and it's been a stressful time for me and my family, To have that meaningful conversation with Richard Young really meant a lot to me, and showed that a total stranger can be full of kindness, really warmed my heart. He didn't have to be that nice and it goes to show this man has a heart of gold. If I owned my own company I would hire him in a heartbeat. He is an exceptional security guard and just a special man with a huge heart. Hats off to MacArthur Mall for employing great individuals like Richard. 5 star experience because of this generous, funny, respectful man. They don't make employees like this anymore, he is a blessing and a truly great person. read more

Pretty enormous mall with a huge variety of retail options. Much more than just Hot Topic and Forever21. I was a bit disappointed about the paid parking, but we spent almost 2 hours and I was only out $1 so I can't complain too much. The ice skating during the holidays was very nice. Facilities are all very clean and seemed very well kept. Even during a busy holiday shopping evening nothing was too packed although the sheer size made it a bit difficult to navigate the place. read more

I've been on a mall review spree and totally forgot about this mall but not because it's subpar but because I don't really frequent it, maybe a handful times a year since it's so far away. Anyway, this is definitely the nicest and classiest mall in Hampton Roads. It's big, it's bright and clean. 3 stories, with elevators, stairs and escalators. A whole bunch of your regular chain stores and some stores that you won't find in others malls in this region-like LUSH and Apple! :) Oh, and yes they have a Sanrio store for you HK fans...like me :3. The Forever 21 is huge even if its a mess and their Barnes and Nobles is pretty cool however kinda small considering it takes up two floors. I'm not sure what kind of clientele this mall is catering to but definitely not a young trendy 20's female who likes to be eclectic...but I guess that's just me. I just feel like it's a lot of the boring cookie-cutter trends like AE, Holister and such. Finally, they also don't offer any sporty stores either which is a drag! On the weekends this mall like most malls is a riot and I hate going here because of all the kids, teens and just the overall crowds of people. They do have security and police officers roaming about and even they seem very friendly to me. Like other Yelpers have posted their food court is terrible. Typical fast food chain junk and I tried the sushi stand before and it's just blah ( plus the people who work there are rude!!). The best place I've ate at is hands down Kincaid's, which is a very classy restaurant, other than Kincaid's- I don't even eat at the mall. Overall, if you don't mind spending a handful of quarters for parking ( it's really not that bad...) and want a better and cleaner shopping experience this is the place to go on the Southside-skip Lynnhaven and definitely Pembroke! To be a visitor in Norfolk, I enjoyed visiting MacArthur Center. Has a good variety of stores and their parking deck is amazing. Wasn't too pleased that it wasn't free but it was only $1 which isn't bad at all, plus I know businesses have to make money somehow and charging for parking is a good way to offset other costs. My favorite mall. They have all my favorite stores and I love their rules about no random teens running around after certain hours. It keeps the mall like a mall should be, a shopping, dining and entertainment venue, not a day care center for teens! I would only give one suggestion. PLEASE don't have smoking areas at the entrance. You have to walk through a smoke tunnel to get inside. Also, they have the cigarette cans right beside the only two benches for seating. It should be NO SMOKING period on the premises. You want to smoke, you go down the street. read more

MacArthur on Ice was pretty cool. I organized a bunch of the singles from my church to come here and we had a great turn out and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. They have a separate area for the smaller kids to skate and not get pummeled by flailing adults. Bring the wife and kids and enjoy a night out in Norfolk. Great place to shop! Not as busy as malls in California so I enjoy coming here for some weekend shopping. Great smoothie place hidden in a corner by Forever21. There is a great selection in the food court. Aerie is in the American Eagle, just found that out (Very limited, but its not so bad). Parking has fees but thats fair since you are in downtown afterall! My hubby and I always come to the movies here, never too crowded, lines are never an issue, and we live in Ghent so this mall is really close and convenient! Will be returning soon. read more

I assure you that MacArthur mall is as good as its going to get for the Hampton Roads area. It's solid for the area, just don't compare it to other malls in bigger cities, lol. Definitely the classiest of the malls. Yes, I care about class when it comes to my shopping experience. Pembroke is for seniors and Lynnhaven is for teens (although, they do have a few good stores). MacArthur is for people that actually make purchases when they go out. You'll still find large droves of teens who got dropped off by mom & dad because there was nothing else to do (there should be a ban against that), but for the most part, its cool. Not going to break you, but not as cheap as the others. The only downside I would note is that they don't have a Sephora! I think they do have a Mac counter in Dillards though. read more

Looking for a shopping experience with a little wow factor? Check out this mall! I love the variety of shops, as well as the huge food court. If you prefer a restaurant setting, they have that too. The decor is amazing and there are several areas to sit and 'people watch'. Personally I plan to stay for several hours each visit. There is a lot to see! You can also walk from McArthur Center, to the USS Wisconsin and other attractions. It's in a great location! Definitely worth a visit. read more

First I would like to start off by saying the MacArthur Center Mall is a beautiful place inside but on a sad note we were there this this week for basketball tournament for boys ages 13 through 15 we went to the mall to go to the food court to eat we were approached buy security officer who told us the mall has a policy that kids are not allowed in the mall unless they got signed in and got some sort of bracelet for their wrist and parents had to be accompanying mind you we had no kids with us we had teenagers at least 13 ball players for them to have this experience is an outcast I'm not too happy and pleased about the treatment that this policy has been put in place if that's the truth I asked to speak to the manager of the building director I got no response I am not happy or please I will let out conference know of this situation as well be blessed read more

I don't particularly like malls but I love how they have parking garages attached and valet. Parking is only $1 to help with holiday shopping and this mall has really great stores to offer a diverse selection of style. I enjoy the kids area and layout. Very angry with this mall. I will not be coming back . They have nothing here for mothers with young kids ....... I tried to find an outlet to plug my breast pump into there is absolutely nothing all of their outlets are blocked and locked . When I finally find a place to pump a random outlet in the middle of the walkway I moved a chair over to the outlet so I dont have to sit on the ground and this rude ass worker tells me I cant move furniture. This is definitely one of my favorite malls to visit in Hampton Roads. It offers a convenient location and a variety of stores with an upscale vibe. It always has a steady crowd but, given the layout, it never seems overwhelmingly busy. Parking in downtown Norfolk is a hassle, so the mall's parking garage is definitely a convenience; paying no more than $2 per visit makes it worthwhile. There are even some decent restaurants in addition to the typical food court fare that make one's shopping trip more pleasant. Add a Gap store to round out the directory and I promise to add a fifth star! read more

Best mall in the Hampton Roads area. The only 2 stores it's missing are The Limited and Sephora. It would also be nice if we could have an A-store Nordstrom. This mall is ALWAYS clean and usually isn't crowded. The stores are nice and clean and it's very well lit. Children under 18 aren't allowed at night so it's definitely not a hang out spot for those that have nothing to do. The movie theater isn't that great and neither is the food court - if you are just on a shopping mission this is your spot. You can always grab an Auntie Annie's pretzel to hold you over. There's a parking garage so parking is never a problem, although they do charge. Cash and cards are accepted though. Watch out for the over zealous pagoda attendants...they can be a little obnoxious! read more
