I have no one else to blame but myself.. macarons from a real macaron place are so so so SO much better than anything you can find at a store. For years I never understood the hype.. short-of-stale cookies with an unidentifiable creme in the center was never comparable to what I heard people say about macarons. But after visiting Macaron Bar, I understand. Macarons are supposed to be flufy and soft, almost like melting in your mouth upon the first bite. The flavors should be distinct. The colors should be .. well, I guess that's subjective but you get the point. If you want to treat yourself to something new and are willing to give macarons one more shot, I'd highlighy recommend Macaron Bar. Pleasantly surprised by how good these were!! We stopped by on a whim and sampled a few different flavors. From classics like chocolate and vanilla, to some of the more exciting flavors (cookies and cream, black raspberry chocolate, champagne, espresso cardamom) they were all on point! I thought the price point was still pretty reasonable for what you get. The person working was friendly and gave us a brief run down since it was our first time visiting. I would definitely stop here again!

I'm in MACARON heaven. After a trip to France I have taken in the past, I have been on the lookout for some and this place is as close to it as you will get in Indy! A box of 12 macarons will run you at around $30 but it is so worth it. Also love the fact that they put a variety so you can taste test different ones. My personal favorite from the box was the Lemon Lavender (perfect balance of sweet and tart)! If you are on the lookout for quality macarons, RUN don't walk to this place!

I had walked passed the Macaron Bar so many times but yesterday I decided to treat myself! They were SO FLUFFY like clouds. I got 6 macarons pictured in order (6 for $16 deal): Fruity Pebbles (superb), Black Raspberry Chocolate (WONDERFUL), Toasted Coconut (the perfect amount of coconut flavor), Birthday Cake (you can't go wrong with birthday cake flavored anything), Chocolate Orange Blossom (didn't taste any orange flavor in this- it was basically all chocolate), and Pistachio (perfect taste & design). My personal favorites were the Black Raspberry Chocolate & Fruity Pebbles. I will definitely be back to try all the other flavors!

I thought I had reviewed this place but apparently I have not. I work downtown Indy so I am there pretty often even though I work from home part-time. Whenever I am on Mass Avenue I always try to remember to go over and pick up some macarons at the Macaron Bar. When I stopped in there over the weekend they were having a class. So if you ever want to learn how to make macarons instead of paying the price they offer the way. I usually get the box that has 12 and currently the price for 12 is $27 but you can get them singly or in a six pack. However you get them they are delicious. The other thing is if there is a broken one or when they're picking them up they crush it they save those and give them to any of the homeless folks that walk in there. So I thought that was pretty nice. My favorite is the birthday cake macaron but come on in and see which one you like.

Tasty and delicious flavors. We enjoyed a few different kinds, was not disappointed. The shop had little seating but it was quick and nice service. Would visit again!

The macarons here are great! I got 6 different flavors and all of them were delicious. The staff is really nice, the service is fast, and the place is just so cute and aesthetic, there are no words to describe it, you have to go and experience it yourself. My favorite one was the cookies 'n cream

This place looks tiny from the outside but once you go in it's pretty big. I love their decor and every macaroon tastes great! The staff is friendly and if you join their rewards program you can get 1 free macaroon on your birthday. When I went, I got a free one and purchased more :) the packaging is pretty good and transportable so that was helpful when going on my picnic.

I love this place. I never thought I would spend $15 on six cookies, but every time I'm around Mass Ave, I have to stop. They are just so good. The lemon lavender is my favorite. Eat them fresh! So good.

What a cute little spot on Mass Ave! Macaron Bar hosted the Indy Blog Society for their one year birthday bash. We got to see the space, learn about how macarons are made and sample the goods. They host their own baking parties and this would be a fun spot for a birthday outing, bachelorette party or girls day. We received a box of 12, although the box only holds 11. The 12th went in a bag. My advice is to get some pancaking that fits ALL your product so it looks a little more consistent. I tried the Birthday Cake, Red Velvet, Sea Salt Carmel, Carmel Apple and Vanilla. The Birthday Cake was the winner! All flavors were good though. Will have to go back to try some others.

That could not be more true. We both did Pick Two: I got a chicken salad sandwich and my mother got a turkey and cheese both with the soup of the day which was butternut squash. Soup was OK, sandwiches were OK. I got a side of chips (not made in-house) for $3. My daughter was upset when we arrived bc she was napping in the car and she proceeded to cry for about the first 10 minutes so, I walked around with her to calm her before I sat down since it's so cramped to try not to disturb everyone else. She was not happy the entire time so we were trying to calm her and feed her. Cake slices and cheesecake are $17-20 each. They're large but other reviews say dry and taste old. That's pricey. We skipped dessert at those prices based on the quality of the rest of our meal... I got an $8 peppermint mocha which was good but, served in the smallest teacup imaginable. It's extremely small inside. Like, uncomfortable. Granted, I had a lot of items with my baby and her and we were seated at a table for two with her in my lap but it was close quarters and the waitresses were squeezing between the chairs to walk around. They have about 6 tables inside with a small event private room in back. Our waitress was kind but, the manager or owner was off-putting. She went to every single table seated except ours to ask how their meal was and experience and, when time to pay, she wanted to personally ring me up to ensure we left in a hurry. I get it, some places are not meant for babies, but, since it's billed specifically to kids, I thought this was. Nope, I was wrong. (She's 19 months - so, too young for this bougie of an establishment clearly) I would not come back at all unless it was for my, older daughter to have a birthday cake experience and get a couple cute pics. As far as instagram-worthy goes, they know what they're doing. As far as quality of food. It's like a 2.5 stars. I wish we'd waited and walked into the larger one in Carmel and just shopped and got some cookies to go!

Their bakery items are very pretty, but we have noticed that some of the offerings (like the stuffed donuts) do not really have a taste to them besides sugar- which is fine if you're just wanting a quick sugar rush, but disappointing if you're actually wanting to try an ube stuffed donut and then don't get any ube flavor at all. Their display offerings are very good and always taste like what they say they should. I've never tried any savory pastries from them, but I want to on my next visit. They have coffee, hot chocolate, frappes, smoothies, lemonades, etc as well. The tiramisu latte is amazing and I get it every time I go since it's always when it's fall/winter, but an iced coffee or lemonade sounds so good once the weather gets warm again. Plan your visit for early in the day before their pastries get bought up! They stay very busy and our last visit was late in the evening to coincide with grocery shopping in Saraga so we could take everything straight home to the fridge. They were very picked over, but I got a slice of pound cake to snack on with my latte and a load of milk bread. The milk bread is a family favorite, so I recommend trying that out if you've never had it before. They also sell some super cute "accessories" on top of the display case and I bought "Happy Birthday" candles for my husband's birthday earlier this month from them, as well as some that said "I Love You" for Valentine's Day.

It's worth noting that this isn't a place you just walk in -- you have to place an order online, via Facebook message or by phone first, then set up a time to pick them up. I placed my order via email, which was a fast and easy process. I placed an order for four flavors -- vanille, chocolat, citron and pistache. The pistache was by far my favorite! I couldn't believe that it tasted almost exactly like the pistache macaron I had in France at Laduree! My only complaint would be that, although the texture of the cookie part of this macaron was excellent, the filling was a little runny. It appeared that these may have been freshly made, so giving them an hour or two for the filling to firm up probably would have fixed that very minor issue. Although I didn't think the vanille, chocolat and citron macarons were as close to those same flavors of macarons I sampled in France, they were all good and after sampling them, I wished I had placed an order for all of the flavors they had. It appeared that Union Baking Co. is more of a catering/custom order company, but they were happy to fill my tiny 4-pack order. I am usually more interested in spontaneously stopping in a place and getting macarons immediately than in waiting for an order, but if you're fine with waiting a few days or you need a customized/large order of a variety of macarons, this is the place to order from!

The raspberry pistachio croissant? Oh. My. God. This thing had me in a chokehold. Flaky, buttery layers with the perfect balance of tart raspberry and rich pistachio. Savory, balanced, indulgent -- you get the hint. Every bite just made sense.
