Buffalo Chicken Mac with a little extra hot sauce drizzled on top
Clark S.

While listening/watching Steve Miller Band with Peter Frampton at Artpark, I came across this food truck and walked away one happy customer! Now the menu was not too vast, but the minute I saw "Buffalo Chicken Mac", my mind was made up (If anything, I think that the smaller menu for a food truck is smart, as it ensures they have enough and lets them focus on making a really good product). The crew in the truck were friendly enough and the food came out incredibly fast! They had all the plastic cutlery and napkins you would need and I appreciated the extra hot sauce to pour over my mac 'n cheese. This is what the Buffalo Chicken Mac consists of: pulled and smoked chicken, crumbled Blue Cheese, mild Buffalo sauce, and topped with toasted breadcrumbs. My goodness... was this delicious! The pulled chicken was delicious, hot (not spicy), and flavorful. The shells and cheese were very much gourmet: soo rich and creamy. With the Buffalo sauce adding a little pep and the bread crumbs on top added a little crunch. When I first got my "boat" of mac 'n cheese, I was a little worried it would not be enough to satisfy my appetite, but it was the perfect size: I walked away perfectly full, satiated. Now some may think the prices are a little high, but I think they were appropriate. I would absolutely grab the Buffalo Chicken Mac again the next time I'm out at Artpark!

Turkey Mac n' cheese

Like most sane people I love macaroni n' cheese and I wanted nothing more then to love Macarollin'. I made a stop at this food truck yesterday while making me weekly stop at Larkin Square's food truck Tuesday. I came to this truck a little before 4:30 and was maybe the second person to place my order. I decided to order the smoked turkey mac n' cheese which consisted of smoked turkey, roasted sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, maple glaze, and shaved Brussels sprouts. I ended up waiting roughly 5-7 minutes after placing my order (not complaining about this) and then I was handed my mac n' cheese and on my way. I'm kind of torn on the food itself and I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about it. The first bite I took was hot and cheesy while the second bite I took was cold, and that's pretty much what continued throughout the mac n' cheese. I'm not one to turn around and complain and since I was already heading back to my work, I just kept eating it so I could go home. The mac n' cheese itself was alright, though nothing spectacular and the other things on top were alright as well. Overall, I really wanted to love this and instead I'm left giving it the same 3 stars it seems everyone else has. The food was alright (would probably of been more satisfied if it was fully cooked) but nothing I plan on returning to have again.

Lobster Mac'n'Cheese - meh I've had better

Macarollin' or Maca-ruined? Sometimes I wish yelp had the possibility of half ratings. Macaroni and Cheese is every kids favorite food and every adult even if you don't want to admit it. That's totally me. What can I say? I love macaroni like a fat kid likes cake, so when I seen this I was okay with splurging on the $14 Lobster Mac. The service was speedy maybe a little TOO SPEEDY. The food was already done before I had the chance to grab the change from the cashier (this should have been my first red flag). What macaroni and cheese is done in seconds?(other than your classic TV dinner). I'll be honest I was a little excited when it came out at first I thought the lemon scented breadcrumbs would be an interesting twist and the toppings made it look absolutely delicious. But to my surprise the breadcrumbs weren't as seasoned as they claimed and instead a bland mountain of macaroni, with semi-flavorless watery (maybe)cheese sauce;resting in a sea of lemon juice with a decent amount of lobster chunks. All in all I will say that the presentation is convenient and is perfect to walk around with in the summer time or if your sitting down I think you can split this with a friend. I feel like they have a lot of potential they have a lot of fun items on the menu like Buffalo Mac, Philly Cheese Steak, and the Szechuan Duck Mac or is it Szechwan? I seen they have a restaurant location opening soon so let's see what they try to bring to the table.

mid mac and cheese

i was super excited to try this mac and cheese because a lot of people said it was good. the mac and cheese was a bit on the pricy side so i expected this to be some banging mac and cheese. i got the mac and cheese and it tasted a bit off, it didn't taste like mac and cheese should. i would describe this mac and cheese as watery and with a subtle taste of plastic. the good parts of this mac and cheese was the bacon, it had a really good flavor and it took away from the plastic taste from the actual pasta. if you see this food truck, honestly you should pass, there's better food out there to bless your taste buds.

Philly Cheesesteak Mac n Cheese

After walking around for 30 minutes, I always end up getting one of the specialty Mac n cheeses at Food Truck Tuesday in Larkin Square. Macarollin is always present, while Fally Mac seems to show up about half the time. Macarollin always has a Classic Mac, which is pretty good, and a Lobster Mac. Today they had a Philly Cheesesteak with onions and BBQ tomatoes mixed with mac n cheese. I liked it. The BBQ sauce was an interesting addition to the macaroni. The cheese was a little runnier than I would have preferred, however, given the fact that they had an insanely long line of people to serve, I think they did a good job. They remained consistently upbeat, despite the fact that they were probably extremely overwhelmed. Update: I went to Macarollin during an Artpark concert and tried the Loaded Baked Potato Mac. It was perfect! I think they should permanently add it to the menu. It is spiral Mac n cheese topped with potato crisps, bacon, sour cream, and chives! It was heavenly!

Lobster Mac n Cheese, Delish !!!
Ryan J.

Mac n Cheese is one of the Best, Delicious and simplest Comfort Foods that you can have in this World. When I was a Kid this would be one of the things we would mostly have in the House, Kraft Mac n Cheese (3 to 4 times a Week). This truck takes Mac n Cheese to the Next Level with 8 Different options to choose from (Buffalo Chicken, Caprese, Classic, Lobster, Loaded Potato, Philly Cheese Steak, Smoked Turkey and Szechaun Duck). Also instead of using elbows (which is most commonly used when making Mac n Cheese) they use Cavatappi (Corkscrew shaped Pasta). The Most popular (and I assume it their Best Seller) is the Lobster Mac, who wouldn't want that, its popular all over the World. Pieces of Maine Lobster Knuckle & Claw Meat mixed with Goat Cheese and then topped with a Sherry/Shallot Gastrique and Lemon Scented Breadcrumbs. When you take a bite I love how its not Thick, that the Cheese/Cream Sauce is Runny, The Lobster was cooked perfectly, the Goat Cheese added another Layer of Richness (without being too Cloying) and the Breadcrumbs provided some texture while also having hints of Citrus from the Lemon. The 2nd time I got this was the Classic (simple, Aged Cabot Cheddar mixed with a Shallot infused Veloute Cream Sauce). What I liked about it was that every forkful was coated and not drenched with Cheese Sauce, very Robust. Sometimes who needs fancy when you can have Simple, Portions are Big (you eat all of it and it fills up half of your Stomach). You won't go hungry after eating from here, that's for sure.

Bacon Maple Mac - $8

Who would have thought that bacon maple and mac-n-cheese could be combined into one? Macarollin' did it. At first bite, I was like wait, this is kinda sweet. Then, it all melded together into one sweet n' salty dream come true. I shared it with my right hand gal because this portion is quite huge for one person. In my case, I was a the rodeo so I wanted to sample a few different things that night and needed room in my belly. Definitely a good option if you want a rich, comfort food. I didn't love the texture of the bacon - wish it was thicker and crispier. But the flavor was good. The panko crumbs were a delight - I loved the crunch factor and they were well seasoned. I probably will settle for the classic next time as I'm just that kinda gal when it comes to Mac and cheese: the simpler, the better. The Bacon Maple Mac goes for $8 for the cardboard carton. I was pleasantly satisfied and it was the perfect thing to warm me up on that chilly September evening.

Another hit for this food truck Pulled Pork macaroni. Their typical creamy macaroni with pulled pork, corn bread bread crumbs, cajun Carolina Sauce and scallions. Delicious comfort food.

I've been thinking about how to review Macarollin' for awhile and the best idea I've been able to come up with is a list of bullets that call out the pros and cons since it's a bit all over the place. Here goes nothing! + Great price for the buck. For somewhere between $8 - $10, you get what feels like nearly a pound of mac and cheese in a huge tub or carton. + Amazing bread crumbs. Toasted, seasoned, and herb'd to perfection. They're so delicious I'd probably even put them on cupcakes, just 'cause. + Probably the best lobster mac and cheese I've ever had - ample lobster meat, bisque-y mornay sauce, tastes of shellfish! - Most of their mac and cheeses are only just all right. Incredibly standard and nothing worth gossiping over. A lot of pasta and a lot of cheese sauce, but not enough texture (outside of the crumbs) to go around. Wish there were more "things" inside it, whether it be veg or meat (freshly cooked, dried, or cured all would be wonderful). As it is today, it's pretty much macaroni, cheese sauce, bread crumbs, and literally nothing else. - Hard to differentiate the cheeses - they become so intermixed with each other that it's hard to identify any differences / flavors between them, whether it be mozzarella, cheddar, or Gruyere. Ultimately you're ending up with this homogenized mess of random dairy products that takes away from the individual taste of each. - The mornay sauce is also crazy heavvvvvyyy. You'll be feeling it for awhile. Some people could see this as a pro, but it's definitely too much for me.

A yummy stomach ache waiting to happen.

Wow. Mixed buzz with the group I was in. It seemed split "wow this is really good" and the other half "not worth it." I got the Buffalo Chicken Mac and cheese and I was not impressed with the dark chicken meat in it but overall the mac and cheese was great. I got the Fancy Hot Dog and it was fantastic! (Sundried Tomato Tapenade, Pickled Red Onions, Mustard Seeds, Capers + Shaved Parmigiano Reggiano). I finished with a Crack Cookie - Chocolate Chip, Marshmallow; Corn Flake Crunch Cookie. All in all, 4/5. Now my tummy hurts though. Oh well.

I had Macarollin' last night at food truck Tuesday at Larkin and it was bumping. They had a pretty long line that they were powering through. I was expecting it to be good based on the length of the line, what I wasn't expecting was for them to give me a bowl of mac n cheese big enough for three and for the wait time to be only around 3 minutes. I got the classic mac n cheese and my boyfriend got the caprese. Mine was super filling and I only managed to eat about a third (I had the rest for lunch today) and his was really light and the mozzarella was so fresh. If you're looking for something different in a food truck I would say Macarollin' is it. They had lobster mac, buffalo chicken, and the two I mentioned earlier. They were prompt, tasty, and I will be going back.

Caprese Mac

You would think that if macaroni and cheese is one of my favorite staples, then I'd absolutely love a mac and cheese truck. Basically, Macarollin is the most basic version of the ideal mac and cheese truck, but hasn't been overwhelmingly impressive this season. I'll still choose it if it's the best available option, but there have been better street food choices out there. A key thing to note if you are vegetarian or just don't feel like having meat: you can't make any changes to the day's selections. I don't eat bacon, so I wanted to see if I could get the loaded baked potato mac without it, in order to try a new flavor. Needless to say, I learned that all the flavors are prepared in advance, so there's no way to make something vegetarian. Disappointing, but understandable when you factor in the space. I also don't eat lobster, so I won't be trying the lobster mac any time soon, but I've seen many a person enjoying it, so it can't be all bad. On the other hand, the varieties I have tried have ranged from outstanding to "oh, why wasn't that better?" In that order, the caprese mac was outstanding, the classic mac was pretty good, and the buffalo chicken was "oh, why wasn't that better?". Trust me on the caprese mac: the flavors are sharp and the bread crumbs are crunchy and sweet (yes, sweet. Who knew?). If you don't feel particularly adventurous, the classic mac will absolutely get the job done. Finally, you can try the buffalo chicken, but you won't find a ton of flavor and the chicken seems awkwardly shoehorned in. It's one of those flavors where you really have to try it for yourself to make a decision. At $8-$10ish per portion, you do get a decent portion for what you pay. Meat options will cost more than vegetarian options. Macarollin is a decent food truck on the whole, so if the line is short and you're in the mood for mac and cheese, it's definitely worth a try so you can make the decision for yourself.

Regular Mac and cheese
Lindsay P.

This was our first experience with Macarollin'. The staff was friendly, and the food came out quite quickly! There wasn't much of a line , and I guess I know why now. I got the regular Mac and Cheese. I liked the spiral pasta and breadcrumbs on top. For the most part the pasta was cooked well, but I did get a few hard pieces. The macaroni and cheese itself was lukewarm at best, with a few bites that were cold. I also found the cheese to be bland, with most if the flavor coming from the bread crumbs. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of my favorite dishes!

I got the lobster mac and it was this heaping, steamy pile of cheesy goodness topped with more than enough lobster lumps.
