Based on our…read moreYelp research - the photos, the menu, and the 4+ star rating - we decided to try the Mansion House. It's a beautiful building and the chairs are comfortable. But everything else was disappointing. For starters, they sell Guinness beer - but only in cans!! Why bother? The onion rings we ordered for our appetizer seemed like something you'd find in the freezer section at Weis. The sauces provided on the side help with the taste, but they still have the made-in-a-factory texture. Not hand- battened and messy. For the main course, I ordered the salmon special which sounded delicious - cooked in some kind of bourbon-apple concoction - but it turned out to be meh! The chicken Caesar salad that my wife ordered was, if nothing else, a great value because it included what had to be over a pound of chicken! If you're the type that likes sharing entrees, you should consider the chicken Caesar salad. Overall the ambiance was nice and the service was okay, but the food was overpriced and nothing to get excited about.

There were dramatic changes, none for the better. I ordered a salad and the wings and shrimp combo, my GF salad and a pasta dish. Our salads were brought with a huge glop of dressing on them, rendering them a soupy mess and inedible. (Our server said that she was new and was told that she shouldn't have done that, but laughed and said that we just didn't have to add it ourselves). My wings were as good as normal, but the shrimp were horribly overcooked, dry and nasty. My GF's pasta was badly oversauced and again a big soupy mess. This place needs to get back to the basics and work on the fundamentals. I regret not sending everything back for a do-over, and seriously doubt if I will return to see if they were just having a bad night or if this is their new normal.

We started with the Key West Lime Martini, which was made to perfection. We also ordered Kelly's Tiramisu Martini. It tasted like a chocolate martini with just a hint of mint, and it was delicious. The restaurant itself is very cool, with all the Bonnie and Clyde memorabilia throughout. My first bite of the Hunter Meatloaf had me saying, "OMG, this is delicious!" It was so different from any meatloaf I've ever ordered. The honey bourbon BBQ sauce was absolutely out of this world! It was topped with sautéed onions, A-1 mushrooms, bacon, and Swiss cheese. Yum, yum!! My husband had the Seafood Lovers Stuffed Portobello Mushroom, filled with shrimp, crab, garlic aioli, mozzarella, red peppers, and balsamic-roasted vegetables. He said it was excellent! We had a great experience and would definitely recommend it!

I chose to eat in which seemed to throw the guy at the counter for a moment but after that brief eyebrow raise, there were no issues. You start with a salad and some "garlicy" bread. The bread was toasted nicely and from what I remember soaked in butter with some type of seasoning applied to the butter. The salad....well....it's a salad. I'm never a fan and it was no different than any salad you would get when ordering from a local red sauce Italian restaurant. The lasagna was a solid portion and there were no issues with that or with how it was constructed. Multiple layers of pasta/sauce/cheese. One oddity was it looked like they attempted to melt a slice of American on top, and it was at best, partially melted. Very odd looking. As a few others have mentioned, it's basically self-serve if you eat in since they seem to be very busy with handling takeout orders. The food was brought to their front counter and then I got the head nod that it was mine to pick up. One plus was the nice delicacy of having Guer's tea in the fridge case. I was looking for a Zimmy since Nesquehoning is certainly close enough to Lehighton, but I don't remember seeing any. Either way, good enough. Overall, as I mentioned prior, this is your classic local jack of all trades red sauce Italian joint that every town has a few of. Very large menu at reasonable pricing and the staff I encountered were decent enough. It's not a go out of your way place, but if I lived in town, I'm sure this would be a go-to spot.

Three of us ordered Thai chicken and my wife ordered the Bangkok bowl. The ingredients were fresh and carefully selected, as the dish had a slightly sweet curry sauce on it. The chicken thigh was on top of a bed of short grain brown rice appropietly cooked for the dish. Veggies such as broccoli and eggplant were around the edges. The Bangkok bowl was slightly different as the samosas had a fair amount of heat to them. The waiter recommended mixing them with the rice and fried chickpeas, which worked well. For dessert, the rose and cardamom coffee glee had little rose flavor. I asked and they said it was infused as well as the garnish on top, but I failed to taste it. Ditto for the chocolate orange ganache, in which I could not taste the orange flavor. No points lost, the deserts were still better than average, not too sweet. Service was very good, the waiter loved to inform us of what to expect. Also, it was a good place for four of us to sit at a table and enjoy a conversation.
