What can I say? It was fabulous in the 90's in Manhattan and now that our favorite restaurant moved to PA, it's even better!! All the same dishes and the same owner. You step in and the phone booth from west 4th is there. There is an upstairs. It is ByOb but the owner is getting his liquor license. It's right off the interstate, and it's close to the casino, Camelback Mountain, and great Wolf Lodge Absolutely highly recommend making the trip! read more

Came to this town for skiing and I was hungry so I decided to stop here. The soup was okay and the meatballs were okay. The service was not very impressive and maybe it is because I am from a big city. But from someone that has been all over the USA, I have received better service in smaller towns. One would think this place was fantastic seeing how many people were in here. Then you have to remember that for the most part there are actually no other Italian restaurants nearby, one would have to go to Stroudsburg for Momentos which is pretty decent. or to Basso. Two weeks ago The service was fine, But the prices are pretty high...They charge $7 for a corking fee, I imagine most were drunk by the time the food came. In all Honestly, if you thought the food is outstanding, then you were drunk to the point where everything tasted great. Far from it... One of the few places where I found the food just okay across the board -- from the calamari, ravioli, and stuffed clams to the linguine with clam sauce and breaded veal. My dish, the stuffed veal chops, was unfortunately the worst of the bunch. The alcohol-infused mozzarella had a salty, bitter taste that didn't pair well with the veal chop. Overall, the experience itself wasn't bad, but when I compare it to the quality of food I'm used to in New York, it's not even close. Needless to say, I'll probably be skipping this spot the next time I'm in town. read more

Wonderful Italian restaurant right in the center of Tannersville. Call to make a reservation. They are a small restaurant and everything is cooked fresh to order. I had the Pollo Calabrese. It was delicious!! My husband had the Fettuccine Bolognese he loved his as well. He love the homemade pasta. This is a BYOB. They do charge a $7.00 corking fee. It's a little noisy but you can still have a conversation. The owner, Ceasar, goes table to table all night long making sure you are having the best experience possible. We typically love the food there & service, owner is great, but definitely not for special occasion or peak hours on weekends. Restaurant is overbooked, parking was all full, had no choice but to park handicapped for my 7:20pm anniversary dinner. My blond waitress sat us & took liquid order but completely forget about my table, no water no bread until someone else realize we being sitting upstairs for 15 mins. I asked to replace finnochio to frutto di mare but both came out (I excused it with no complaints, 2 big tables birthday parties restaurant is busy). What really frustrates me is bitting into a mouthful of sand from mussel after waiting for my entre for more than 1 hour. This is simply UNACCEPTABLE. In the end I got no idea who is serving my table anymore, I got 1 waitress sat me down & forgot my table, another took my order wrong, and for desert the 1st one came back to serve my table. I'm very tired of endless waiting, this is not the quality or service I'd expect for fine dinning experience for my anniversary. read more

Revisited yesterday. Still a great place. They had the Eagles game on the TV. Still BYOB; only a $7 corkage fee. Fennel salad still a must order. My wife and I ordered other appetizers, too. Next visit we'll try their entrees (plus the fennel salad). BTW, the cappuccino was excellent! No room to try their desserts this visit. Wife said we have to travel from Dallas, PA to Tannersville at least once a month for dinner at Volare's. Agreed! read more

NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. So I went here with 9 other people and I was disappointed. That place looked like it was from the 80s. It took so long to get our food. I asked for a refill on my coke but the first time I asked they never got it. I asked for a coke the second time it took to long. The places is so weird. The people over there are really mean. The kid that was with us didn't like spegetti.I got the skirt steak and oh boy I was disappointed it tasted like a long horn steak and the ice cream I got tasted like something from dollar tree. we weren't there until 11:34. Packed you would think this place was wonderful. They are illusionists. I'd love to see them on Kitchen nightmares with Ramsay. They all probably love the place because they bring their own wine have it uncorked for them served to them and they all feel special. Probably buzzed before the first bite. The most pretentious, bunch of no nothing foodies I've ever seen. This place is horrible. Cesar dressing tasted like a mustard bomb....... calamari, flavorless, zero seasoning, soggy undercooked, The veal parmigiana look nice but was soggy and flavorless. Bolognese tasted frozen and reheated. God awful place, except for the staff who tried and succeeded to put on a good show. Please taste your food before sending it out. Authentis everything especially when it comes down to food this place is the real deal with Italian cuisine with real Italian recipes when you come in and sit down even down to the atmosphere and their drinks and their service, you would really think that you are in Italy it is so authentic and the food is exceptional. Prices were higher than little italy in nyc but the food was completely... edible. Nothing great about this place. Definitely not a gem. Rigatoni carbonara is overglorified velveeta mac n cheese. You get six raviolis for the entree. Every dish my family got was undercooked (and unevenly cooked) pasta but i guess thats what we get for asking mountain folk to make pasta. There is no ocean nearby so stay clear from the seafood since all you can taste is onion/garlic from the clam/mussel whatever it is soup. Bread is warm and soft though. Staff took a LONG time but seems to be on par with the rest of the area. Shoutout to Wendy's across the street. The staff at wendy's was great and felt like extended family. This place needs a major interior uplift since it is basically a warehouse vibe with fake wooden panels. Christmas decorations are cute though but so much potential is lost from the actual interior of the restaurant. Nothing really "upscale" about this place. Just seems like management is out of touch with the upscale restaurant world and the chef is delusional culinarily. read more

Very excited to try this place when I heard the cook is from Brooklyn. I was a bit disappointed. Nothing was bad but nothing was great. Staff was lovely, fried calamari was a bit oily, my husband loved the risotto special, my linguine with clam sauce was ok, sauce was a little sandy. Bread was excellent wish the butter was softer. As soon as you walk in you feel at home. The owner greets you like he knows you and treats you as a friend. You should make a reservation because the place isn't very big but the tables are spaced apart comfortably. Your table is your table if you want for the night. The food is delicious. The tricolor salad is a traditional tricolor which I absolutely love! I had the Pork Ossobuco that fell off the bone! Delicious. It had a light red sauce that went so well with the pork and you can use it as a dipping sauce. The other two meals were veal any style, which piccata style was chosen and the chicken special. Both were delicious. To top it off was the dessert! The cakes are fresh light and delicious! Love this place! read more

This restaurant has INCREDIBLE food and I say very honestly that I think it is the absolute best food in the entire region. Nothing can compete. We've been coming here for the past year or so and have grown to really appreciate the opportunity to visit this restaurant. The owner seems to always be there and just works nonstop. He's kind to our entire family. He's always focused on ensuring everyone is having a perfect experience. I've ordered so many meals here and there was one time I didn't love what I ordered (it wasn't bad - just not for me) and he could tell immediately and insisted on replacing the meal because he wanted to make sure that I loved what I was eating, The entire staff is wonderful. Very good authentic Italian food in the Poconos, the owner is very nice and offered us after dinner drinks on the house (they are a byob). Portion sizes are somewhat on the small size and they get crowded so service is somewhat slow. Definitely recommend as it's the best Italian food in the area. read more

For the price, Volare did not disappoint! The owner (Cesar) greeted all guests at the door, like a proud father. We shared the mushroom appetizer among 3 of us. It was great! Our entrees were served hot and were equally delicious. One person in our party had pasta fagioli (soup) and raved about it. Four of us had different entrees. I can only speak for myself. My risotto with asparagus and shrimp, was prepared to perfection. Asparagus was tender and shrimp was cooked just right. The atmosphere was a little dark, but we could still read our menus, so it wasn't an issue. We had a heads-up about possible slow service but it was not slow. The only downsides were the corkage fee of $7 per bottle for the BYOB, and my husband's $4.50 for each of his 2 diet sodas. However, they were not deal-breakers and we look forward to going back to Volare! read more

We are New Yorkers that occasionally visit the Tannersville area. There is no doubt that when we are in this town, our go to spot is Volare. If you desire upscale Italian food, then Volare is your place. This restaurant maintains Manhattan restaurant standards while nestled in the Poconos. We enjoyed the food so much we even ordered a catered order (seafood salad) to take home for a party!
