Large selection of products, including cabinets, flooring, tiles, countertops, vanities, and hardware. The flooring selection is excellent. I've been very happy with the quality, and East Star is still my favorite flooring supplier. Cons: The tile selection is a bit less appealing compared to the rest of the showroom. Cabinet parts are not labeled, which made assembly more time-consuming for my contractor. The standard particleboard cabinets are a good value, but I noticed slight warping on a few cabinet doors that made perfect alignment difficult. The upgraded cabinet panels performed noticeably better. Since there is no onsite measurement service, a few field conditions weren't fully captured during the design process, resulting in some installation conflicts (such as gas pipe clearance and an oven/fire door swing conflict). If your project has a more complicated layout, I'd recommend having your contractor& architect carefully verify all dimensions before ordering. The showroom is quite popular, so appointments and order processing can take some time. Planning ahead is a good idea if you're on a tight renovation schedule. For context, I also purchased cabinets from another local supplier that was only slightly more expensive and included complimentary design, onsite measurements, and installation options. In my experience, the service and standard cabinet quality were slightly better there. That said, East Star still offers outstanding value, especially if you're managing your own renovation. I'd happily buy flooring from them again, and I would also consider purchasing cabinets from them in the future.

We brought it back to the store, but they refused to exchange. The warehouse staff claimed that the installer had opened the package and checked when picking it up. However, the package was only opened enough to verify that the correct item was inside--it was never fully unpacked or inspected for damage. There was no reasonable way to see this damage without actually opening the entire package. I understand that damage can happen during shipping or handling, but the customer should not be left responsible for damage that was not reasonably possible to discover at pickup. I would strongly recommend that other customers carefully inspect the entire item before accepting or taking it home, and be aware of the store's after-sale services. To be fair, the sales staff were helpful and professional. My complaint is specifically about the after-sale service and the warehouse staff refusal to take responsibility for a damaged product.

With my odd size vanity requirement, they were able to quickly offer a 3 cabinet solution that covered my needs. They will also suggest a couple countertop places to shop for and ordering via Excelle gets you a 10% discount. I visited the shop multiple times and happy to report that the experience has been consistently pleasant. Good coffee, good music, sound advice and they are super patient to let us visualize the colors and styles with different samples. Since I was focused only on purchasing a vanity, I tried my best not to look at all the other products they carry, such as floor tiles, wood floors, bathroom tiles, shower fixtures, toilets, mirrors, shower doors, etc. So much to look at!! Richard helped me with my questions. He was knowledgeable and patient. He showed me comparable products around the floor then put my order together. Most items are in stock! That's great!! No need to wait for delivery. What I like about PHD is that I can purchase my products and my contractor can pick them up. I don't have to haul a vanity in my tiny car. Returns have a restocking fee. Jenny was very informative and responsive. She answered our questions, both those that related directly to the bathroom but also those relating more generally to remodeling strategies that arose from our inexperience. What do you think of this material? What do you think about this type of sink in this space? What kind of shower design is best for this concern of mine. Etc. I can't recall an instance where Jenny did not immediately and helpfully respond to email or text. Jenny also proactively made good suggestions. The remodel went well. We really liked the result. We were delayed a bit by the city and permits. But Jenny and her team were always patient and committed. In one instance, the city inspector came back with some surprising feedback. But Jenny and her team with due dedication and versatility adeptly executed on the feedback and made the inspector happy. Anyway, it's been about a year after the remodel. A few small issues came up recently. I contacted Jenny and she sent her team to handle without hesitation. The follow through was very impressive. They Scratched hardware that we purchased and we had to purchase another set. We spent a week waiting for new shower cartridges because they didn't know what type we should get. I wish our project came with an actual project manager who would tell us what we needed to do and by when. We felt like we had to plan and purchase so many things on our own They stuck this sticky plastic all over our carpet to prevent stains but when it was removed left adhesive residue everywhere and now my carpet is ruined. When I asked how to fix they ignored me. I regret starting this project with them. After this post there is a response from the "business owner" stating they are sorry and then a lengthy set of excuses which equates to a false apology. Bottom line is 1) you scratched up the hardware we gave you 2) we bought all the HW ourselves and asked if we bought the right cartridge. You all said yes. Give the right answer else we waste time. 3) we rejected your attempt to fix the carpet issue because your team had already used a wipe on the carpet and it didn't work. And then you offered to dump vinegar all over to clean it. Of course I'm going to reject that. What other excuses would you like to provide? And tbh you should be concerned whether your customer feels disrespected not your own feelings on the manner which is of opinion. And by the way your contract that we all signed includes a 1 yr warranty. I hope to not use that but your response seems to imply you are going to abandon communications with us which is a legal breach in your own contract.

They have a variety of tile selections and most of them were imported from Italy or Spain which with better quality there's less yield loss, hence you can buy less. Some of the special priced items have longer lead times, so make sure you double check with them. We didn't enjoy the process as much as with other shops because of 3 reasons. First of all, our sales contact was quite unavailable on the weekends or even Friday afternoons, so we had a hard time scheduling with her. But if you just walk in and ask for help from the front desk, they will assign someone to help. The second issue we found was the inconsistency of product introductions. We were worried about slippery tiles in the shower, our sales contact suggested us to focus on the tiles that have a special coating. The second sales person we talked to said the special coating was only for outdoor use, using the gauge lines between tiles is good enough to prevent slipping. Thirdly, after we got the quote, we couldn't place the order into the system with our contractor's discount; only that appointed sales person could do. Luckily we could get the rest of the process done via email and she sent out a link for me to make payment. If you have a Rakuten cash back app and pay online, I think you get the cash back as well.

My husband and I then spent two years working from home together in our front room (we call it the study now) without any rhyme or reason, just putting our desks wherever they fit, because it all happened so quickly. It was awkward and ugly, cords and monitors everywhere, and not a great look for people walking in our front door. The whole time, I was thinking, "when this is done and at least one of us goes back to the office, I want to make this room into a nice space to read and relax, and also to WFH when I have to." That's where Kanika comes in. I tried changing the place up on my own, but every choice I made seemed to make my space uglier and more awkward. It was time to hire a professional. That decision was worth every penny. In the end, my project turned out to be slightly bigger than just one room. I enlisted Kanika's help in choosing flooring, baseboards and paint for the whole house, furniture for my entire downstairs (we were still using the old living room furniture left by the previous owners), and light fixtures throughout. She was easy to work with and understood immediately what I was going for. My study is a real showstopper now - the walls are this deep blue color that looks amazing, she designed a gorgeous custom bookshelf that makes perfect use of the space, and she picked a couch that is the perfect size, just the right color, and so comfortable. And we still managed to get a desk in there for those WFH days. Literally just the other day, I was on a Zoom with someone and thought "this room behind me is so pretty, it looks like a fake background." But it's real, and in my house! And it wouldn't have happened without Kanika. The paint color she helped me pick for my bedroom is something I never would have chosen on my own, but I still regularly think about how nice it looks whenever I go in there. Same with the color of the living room couch, I'd never have found it on my own, but now that I have it, I love it. She knows her stuff. Kanika's husband Adi runs the business side of things. He managed the project, hiring contractors and keeping everything on schedule. The work was done on time, and he kept us in the loop, patiently answering any concerns or questions. And, no shenanigans with the final cost. Really, hiring Kanika Design was a great decision for us.
