Thinking this would be a relatively simple job, we took the doors off and began calling around and dropping into different cabinet makers and woodshops in the Mountain View/Sunnyvale/Palo Alto area. Time after time, we were turned away by folks who said they couldn't cut the center panels out of our shaker-style doors because there are metal pins that hold the doors together which would damage their equipment. We found one cabinet maker down the road on San Antonio Rd. who said he could do it, but after dropping our doors off having been told it would take a couple days, we called several times over the next two weeks and he still hadn't done the job. Very frustrated, we picked up our doors (which had been scratched up from sitting in his shop for two weeks), thinking we'd either have to shell out some major $$$ to get completely custom doors made from scratch, or we'd have to just go back to the original style without glass. Then we stumbled into Johnny and San Antonio Cabinets. We'd been turned away by another cabinet maker literally a couple doors down from him, and we saw the San Antonio Cabinets sign next door. I brought the doors in on a Monday afternoon, Johnny looked at them for a minute, and said he could do the job, no problem. He said it might take him a couple days. I received a call from Johnny first thing the NEXT morning saying he'd completed the work and that we could pick the doors up. He said given that they're fully-finished doors he didn't want them to get damaged/scratched further sitting in his shop, which I really appreciated. I picked them up that Tuesday afternoon, and they looked great. Johnny charged us a very reasonable price. When I asked him if there had indeed been pins in the doors--the reason why everyone else had turned us away--he said there were, but that he'd done these types of cuts many times in the past with no problem, he just charged us a bit extra to sharpen his blade/bit again. Wasn't a big deal at all. Johnny really saved the day for us, and thanks to him, we'll have the glass cabinet doors we've wanted for a fraction of what it would have cost us to get custom made doors. Our job wasn't too small or insignificant for him, and we really appreciated it. He also pointed us to a great glass shop nearby that we used to put the actual glass itself in the doors. All in all, we'd highly recommend Johnny and San Antonio Cabinets for all your custom cabinetry needs.

In fact, I told Johnny, the owner, I would invent jobs for them just to have more of their work in our home. The first job was a floor to ceiling pantry unit. Johnny design was superb to make the maximum use of space and by the time they were done my wife thought it was the nicest room in our home. One of the doors was slightly warped, and they replaced it to fit perfectly. The drawers glide flawlessly. The quality of their materials and craftsmanship is first rate working with meticulous care from every detail of construction through the installation process. I felt all of their team took great pride in their work and were meticulous in their care in the installation. They were able to match the finish of our cabinets in the kitchen perfectly. They also repaired a broken sliding unit from our kitchen. The second job was a floor to ceiling utility room cabinet and crown molding for the utility room, which yielded similar results. Finally they built two bathroom cabinets and custom mirrors for our bathroom remodels. When our contractor fell through, they held the cabinets at no charge for almost a year and ended up recommending another contractor who worked next door to them, which turned out to be well worth the wait. We have been in our home for almost 40 years and have experienced the full range of contractors from the agony to the ecstasy, but Doug Schultz, owner of DJS construction, also ranks also at the top of my list.

I purchased my condo in June, 2009 and decided that one of the first things I wanted to do was to renovate my kitchen. I looked around at many different kitchen renovation companies, but kept hearing a great recommendation from a about Artistic Kitchen Design, who had had her kitchen redone a few months prior. I decided to check it out, and upon doing so, determined immediately that they would be a great choice to go with for my renovation project. My designer was Sylwia, and she was superb. When she came out to do the initial measuring for the design, she came up with a great suggestion that would more than double my counter space. I have a gally style kitchen and she suggested that I extend the counter into the dining room to make a buffet serving area, which would not only give me more counter space but would also double the amount of kitchen storage and give me a nice area to create a wine storage rack. I loved her idea and was so excited to see the design that she created. During every step of the process, she guided me and was professional. She was always readily available and it was clear that she knew the product lines of the company. She was also willing to work with me and my budget, and helped make the renovation incredibly cost effective. She was very precise and took every detail seriously. When our cabinets came, there was a small blemish on one of the doors from the manufacture, and Sylwia took charge immediately to get the door replaced. Installation was also excellent, and was done by one of their contractors, Jan Pichola. He and his crew were also very professional and took care to ensure that everything in our kitchen was installed properly. He also did a great job in cleaning everything up so that there was not a mess left after he left. I felt so well taken care of while working with Artistic Kitchen Design, and it was evident that their clients are their number 1 priority.. It has now been almost a year since my kitchen was completed, and I am still impressed with it every time that I look at it. It completely transformed my condo into a different place, and I get so many compliments from my visitors on how gorgeous the kitchen is. I'm very happy with my remodeled bathroom. I hate having to deal with changes, but with the leaking shower I didn't have any choice. Yana was extremely helpful with giving advice and going with my choices even if they weren't her suggestions. She was also willing to make the decisions when I gave up. Woodenbridge was our custom cabinet maker as part of a whole house renovation that involved…read moreextensive cabinetry - a large kitchen, 3 bathrooms, entry, laundry room, family room, and dry bar. The quality of the cabinets is very high and they look great! We used a pretty wide array of finishes, from glossy and matte Mirlux finishes to Cleaf wood-based panels in multiple varieties. Our project included bi-fold upper cabinets, appliance garages, a printer drawer, a charging drawer for a hair dryer, coffee center with pocket doors, and so on. They turned out great. There were some hiccups along the way that initially caused some frustration - these were limited to a few areas, but we felt the day to day impact of these was hard to just ignore. What really impressed me about owners David and Tammy (and the rest of the Woodenbridge team) was their openness to discuss our concerns in a very constructive and solution-focused manner. There was never any finger pointing or deflection - just a focus on what could be done to get things as right as possible. As a result, virtually all of our concerns were addressed through their willingness to listen, suggest possible resolutions, and implement what we mutually agreed would be the best way forward. This type of positive can-do attitude and sincere desire to reach the highest level of customer satisfaction is really rare these days. They also emphasize their lifetime warranty and willingness to come out and adjust things as things inevitably become misaligned and need tweaking. As a result you feel confidence that you have a long-term partner in keeping your cabinets performing in top shape for the long term. My "advice" in any extensive cabinet project is to take your time, double-check all the details, and over-communicate as needed to make sure everyone is on the same page. There are enough potential gotchas and options that it's best to align often to avoid potential misunderstandings. The bottom-line is that we're very pleased with how the cabinets in our project turned out, have a healthy respect and trust in Woodenbridge as a result of the process we went through together, and would be happy to use them again in a future project.

We bought kitchen cabinets from European Cabinets and Design Studios during a home/kitchen remodel…read morelast year. We selected European Cabinets after evaluating several cabinet companies. The biggest reason is that they are not cabinet sellers, they are kitchen designers. Lena Pekker, their designer visited our home, understood our needs over a few meetings, and designed a beautiful and functional kitchen for us. While this was primarily centered around their cabinets, she also helped us with colors, fixtures and appliance choices. Secondly, their Italian cabinets have unique features that we loved and couldn't find elsewhere. We found the perfect color and finish for our decor. Thirdly, prices are very competitive for comparable design and quality. Alex in their installation team handled the installation professionally. Overall it was a pleasure to work with Robert Berkovich (Owner) and the entire team. I highly recommend them.

The sub contractor replaced 5 rows of tile. After a couple of more months, the tile started to rock and grout was coming up like you would not believe. I called Urban Design and they did not reply. we are having a "real contractor" replace the tile. the hardy board was not screwed in properly, and the adhesive did not take. A lot of the tile just came up with no adhesive at all. Thanks for having us pay $5800 again. this time it will be done right. Beware. Cabinets are excellent - countertops are very good, however, I did have to put in a new seal since it was cracked.

We asked Betty to also quote a kitchen remodel option. We enjoyed working with Betty on the redesign and her practical suggestions. Her quote was so reasonable that we decided to do everything. The original estimate of 2-3 weeks, as typical for remodel projects, depending on the problems/complications encountered, stretched out to 5 weeks. Betty coordinated her three different work groups (divided by trade skills) to complete the remodel. At times there were coordination and communication(language) issues where I had to communicate with Betty to resolve and some of the smaller tasks were delegated to less skilled personnel. I felt that it was necessary to actively monitor to ensure things were completed according to plan/agreement. The plumbing, electrical and cabinet work was high quality and the quartz work by Sal and team was superb. Sal made sure that the quartz pattern matched perfectly at the island countertop and waterfall joint. That joint and the 45 degree joint on the sink/stove countertop are completely invisible, as if they were cut from one piece. In the end, we are very happy with the results and are very happy with both our laundry room and kitchen updates by Urban Interior Design.

He helped with the logistics and was available during the entire process. We also ordered the quartzite countertops thru his recommendation . They are stunning. The kitchen and bar came out amazing , and we are so happy with the end result. We have so much more room and space than previously and the kitchen is more open and has a better flow. It was so worth working with him, because there is no way our kitchen would have looked as nice or been as functional without his help. My husband and I would highly recommend cabinet center, and all the other designers there were also very helpful and kind. When there were some minor glitches, Chris was available and walked us thru the process and went over and above to make everything perfect. He is really a gem. Dessie

I thought long and hard about whether to post this, as I'd like to move on from this nightmare…read morescenario, but ultimately I think my experience can help others make a better choice. I started working with The Cabinet Center several months ago to remodel my kitchen. One thing I learned about a company like this is that ultimately you have to judge them based on how well they deal with issues that come up. And when you do a full kitchen remodel, issues do come up. The people at The Cabinet Center were nice enough initially, and very helpful with not only selecting cabinets, but also recommending people to work with regarding appliances, construction, and counter top. It was this all in one approach that I agreed to work with them. The sales pitch always goes well, as some say. But when problems started to crop up, that's when the quality of their service really took a nose dive. By time my kitchen remodel project was done, it was 3 months later, despite how The Cabinet Center assured me it would only take 3 weeks. I was stuck with a gutted kitchen, dust everywhere, half my condo sectioned off, with no sink, fridge, or stove for over 9 weeks. What's worse is that each week, I was given affirmation things will soon be on track. That made things worse. So what went down? 1. The wrong cabinet pieces were ordered. Supposedly this "never happens" as I was assured when I ordered my cabinets. Yet sure enough, it happened. Once this went wrong, all construction had to stop. To make matters worse, when they reordered the piece, the cabinet makers forgot to deliver it. The piece sat in the warehouse for a week until I called to figure out what was wrong. The Cabinet Center was blaming the cabinet maker, and the cabinet maker was blaming the cabinet center. I really didn't care who caused the problem at this stage, I just wanted it fixed. 2. The cabinets were sitting a warehouse, and never shipped until I called. What makes me angry about this is that there was no sense of urgency or interest helping me when this was realized. The Cabinet center told to call the cabinet maker to see if I could push things along. When I called them I was told they didn't want to talk with me because their customer was The Cabinet Center. I was in a screaming match with people until everything wrapped up. That's not how customer service should work. 3. They said I never ordered a backsplash for my countertop when I did. I was promised that my counter top order included a backsplash, but when it was installed, none was installed. The Cabinet Center's manager then dared question my understanding what was agreed upon, as if I made things up. I was flabbergasted. It wasn't until the construction people who were remodeling my kitchen agreed with me that the backsplash was part of the order (they happened to be in that initial meeting when a backsplash was discussed), did the manager finally agreed that "something might have been discussed". So what did they agree to do to fix the problem? Charge me an additional $750 to put it in (But it's a discount they say!) How nice of you... 4. They said they would repay me for the problems they caused. As of today, I still haven't seen a final check. I'm not even bothering with pushing for it, because the amount is a joke, and they been nonresponsive. They just didn't care about my plight, didn't care to fix it, nor wanted to even compensate me when clearly they messed up. I will say this, they did eventually help out, 7 weeks after I had no fridge to use, to give me a loaner, as a nice gesture. A gesture they only did because the construction people felt so bad for me they literally called The Cabinet Center to see what they can do show a little sympathy. And for this, they acted like they were saints or something. Please. Just thinking about this experience still troubles me. Mind you, they only take checks, so you can't even dispute things with them via your credit card provider. The owner of this place needs a serious wake up call on how to work with customers. Remodeling a kitchen is a major decision anyone goes through. You want to believe that even one minor issue with the process is something that The Cabinet Center recognizes and wants to go out their way to help out with. Even a one day delay can feel like a lifetime when your kitchen is gutted. I suffered for many weeks, and The Cabinet Center didn't care. Consider this my fair warning.
