I recently collaborated with Kristin McRae on my kitchen cabinet design. We selected Sollera cabinets from a Canadian company. I am probably one of the most difficult clients because my requirements are not typical: - Schedule: I wanted my cabinets delivered in 3 months, right before Thanksgiving. - Precision: The cabinet design should be error-free to save time during install. They must fit into existing plumbing and electrical. - Style: I need a designer who can understand my aesthetics and overall vision for the design. You can see from the pictures that my cabinets are not typical ones that are trending on Pinterest. I want the design to be artistically balanced, personalized to my taste and decor, timeless, and have vintage vibes. - Cost: I need a designer who can understand trade-offs between cost and functionality. I know my kitchen and how to use it. I don't need fancy features. For example, I made a conscious decision NOT to include 2 Lazy Susans that not only impacted the aesthetic of the overall design but also increased cost and appeared to be useless for my application (my kitchen is big. I don't need optimize every little space.). Instead I added 6 big drawers as focal points. They provide plenty of useful space. - Practicality: I need a designer who understands what it takes to keep a kitchen clean and functional. She should be able to communicate and advise with logical reasoning. - Flexible: I like to explore design options until I am satisfied with the final version. I need to understand pros/cons and visualize design choices until I am happy with the results. I don't like to be rushed. Kristin turned out to be THE dream designer, who met all my requirements. I lost counts of how many times we restarted from scratch. Her flexibility, patience, and experience allowed me to come up with a design that is not only practical but also aesthetically pleasing. Just to show how patient and flexible she was: when I presented a new vent hood spec at the last minute, she changed her design to accommodate it because she understood I had been searching for an ideal hood throughout the design phase. She also spent an extra week validating the entire design to ensure everything is perfect. Her attention to details is even more than mine so I trusted her completely. After care: Kristin not only ordered VIP delivery service (making the experience stress-free for me: I didn't have to account for all the boxes delivered), she provided a diagram mapping cabinet ids to her design (making the installation easy), she made herself available for questions to my installers, and when there were damages during installation, she facilitated immediate reorder of the cabinet doors replacement at cost. Although there are many kitchen designers, the one that can be trusted with your dream is not easy to find. My advice is to find a designing company with not just good designers but also reputable cabinet manufacturers. Remember, everything in the kitchen can be updated with new materials, except the cabinets. Our old one lasted 60 years: it was made with solid maple. I expect mine to last another generation. It was a pleasure to work with Kristin. I will be sending friends to her as she is experienced, careful, detailed, and easy to work with. Kristin's kitchen cabinet design met our aesthetic vision, budget, functionality, and schedule.

I absolutely loved working with Julie at Artistic Kitchen on our kitchen project. She was very knowledgeable and knew how to make our project happen. What I admire most about her is her ability to work around any problems and come up with even better solutions. Her attention to detail was key to making our kitchen look unique, beautiful, and functional. Going through a remodel is no easy task for anyone, but Julie made my experience a lot lighter by taking care of our kitchen. I felt at ease knowing that she was looking out for us and had our best interests in mind. Artistic Kitchen has a variety of products to choose from and in different budget ranges, but the value that Julie provides is invaluable! Will always recommend her to any of our friends and family who are going through a remodel, and I hope we are lucky enough to work with her again.

We worked with Julie to pick and design cabinets for an addition to our home. It took us awhile to make up our minds with all the possibilities, but Julie was there every step of the way to make sure the final choices we made turned out amazing!

When we embarked on our journey to remodel our 1980s Kitchen we shopped around at a lot of cabinet vendors. Most vendors came short on their ability to customise the cabinets to what I wanted or they didn't seem to have great problem solving solutions for us. We happen to stumble upon Artistic Kitchen and boy are we so happy we did. I loved their show room set up. I saw all the configurations I wanted in my new kitchen and for the first time since I started planning the remodel I was excited! We worked with Kristin and she helped design out kitchen layout for us. I absolutely loved how she gave us options as to how we can attain all my wish lists items and still have a beautiful layout. She came to the house to look at what we had. Took all the measurements so she would be able to draw up the designs. Then asked me the most important question. What is it you don't like about your kitchen? That for me was heart warming as I felt finally some one wants to understand why I want and better understand our needs. She had us come in a few times to the shop And work on the design layout until we were happy. I seriously appreciate that we had time to figure out what we wanted as it's tough to decide everything in one day. Plus We didn't feel pushed or pressured to making a decision right on the spot. Kristin helped us pick the right cabinet manufacturer and I am really glad we went with crystal cabinets. The feel of the cabinets is amazing. Solid wood and beautiful craftsmanship. I absolutely love them. We unfortunately didn't have a good cabinet installer and he made lots of errors. Kristin was quick to put me in touch with her contact "Robert" and he was able to come out and fix all the installation mistakes the other guy did. I can't say Thank you enough times on being part of our crazy journey and helping us get this fantastic result in the end. Thank you ever so much!!!

We recently finished a job with Artistic Kitchen, I would highly recommend this place, and kudos to our designer Kristin McRae, she is awesome! Our project is vanity cabinets in several bathrooms, including a quite challenging irregular shaped one. We were sure we want to do crystal cabinets, so talked with a couple of dealers, Artistic was the top two we liked from our list (I hesitate putting it on our list in the beginning, we thought they only do kitchens, good to know they also do bathrooms and other places :) ). And the reason we finally decided to work with them is the professional advices and information from Kristin. And we are happy we made this decision, the process went quite smooth, we don't need to worry about it, only need to provide personal design preferences. The installation was not trivial, and the design team also helped with great advice to our GC. Appreciate that. I would recommend this place to my friends (actually already did), and consider working with them again if there are further projects.

Thinking this would be a relatively simple job, we took the doors off and began calling around and dropping into different cabinet makers and woodshops in the Mountain View/Sunnyvale/Palo Alto area. Time after time, we were turned away by folks who said they couldn't cut the center panels out of our shaker-style doors because there are metal pins that hold the doors together which would damage their equipment. We found one cabinet maker down the road on San Antonio Rd. who said he could do it, but after dropping our doors off having been told it would take a couple days, we called several times over the next two weeks and he still hadn't done the job. Very frustrated, we picked up our doors (which had been scratched up from sitting in his shop for two weeks), thinking we'd either have to shell out some major $$$ to get completely custom doors made from scratch, or we'd have to just go back to the original style without glass. Then we stumbled into Johnny and San Antonio Cabinets. We'd been turned away by another cabinet maker literally a couple doors down from him, and we saw the San Antonio Cabinets sign next door. I brought the doors in on a Monday afternoon, Johnny looked at them for a minute, and said he could do the job, no problem. He said it might take him a couple days. I received a call from Johnny first thing the NEXT morning saying he'd completed the work and that we could pick the doors up. He said given that they're fully-finished doors he didn't want them to get damaged/scratched further sitting in his shop, which I really appreciated. I picked them up that Tuesday afternoon, and they looked great. Johnny charged us a very reasonable price. When I asked him if there had indeed been pins in the doors--the reason why everyone else had turned us away--he said there were, but that he'd done these types of cuts many times in the past with no problem, he just charged us a bit extra to sharpen his blade/bit again. Wasn't a big deal at all. Johnny really saved the day for us, and thanks to him, we'll have the glass cabinet doors we've wanted for a fraction of what it would have cost us to get custom made doors. Our job wasn't too small or insignificant for him, and we really appreciated it. He also pointed us to a great glass shop nearby that we used to put the actual glass itself in the doors. All in all, we'd highly recommend Johnny and San Antonio Cabinets for all your custom cabinetry needs.

In fact, I told Johnny, the owner, I would invent jobs for them just to have more of their work in our home. The first job was a floor to ceiling pantry unit. Johnny design was superb to make the maximum use of space and by the time they were done my wife thought it was the nicest room in our home. One of the doors was slightly warped, and they replaced it to fit perfectly. The drawers glide flawlessly. The quality of their materials and craftsmanship is first rate working with meticulous care from every detail of construction through the installation process. I felt all of their team took great pride in their work and were meticulous in their care in the installation. They were able to match the finish of our cabinets in the kitchen perfectly. They also repaired a broken sliding unit from our kitchen. The second job was a floor to ceiling utility room cabinet and crown molding for the utility room, which yielded similar results. Finally they built two bathroom cabinets and custom mirrors for our bathroom remodels. When our contractor fell through, they held the cabinets at no charge for almost a year and ended up recommending another contractor who worked next door to them, which turned out to be well worth the wait. We have been in our home for almost 40 years and have experienced the full range of contractors from the agony to the ecstasy, but Doug Schultz, owner of DJS construction, also ranks also at the top of my list.

When we moved to our current home, we encountered several challenges with the original kitchen cabinets and drawers, upon which we further appreciated the seemingly small details that Patty put in that makes your everyday life so much easier: deep enough drawers, convenient back row access, and functional ways of managing blind corners. When we finally decided to remodel our current kitchen, without a doubt, I reached out to Patty for help. She spent enormous time going through the details of what we wanted for the kitchen, brainstorming with me, and then proposed several options for us to consider. She proactively came to our construction site multiple times to ensure the measurements are accurate, and she spent quality time with our construction crew to ensure the installation is perfect. As the project moved along, we had several new ideas and alterations in mind that was beyond our original plan, and every time this happened, Patty always patiently adjusted the design for us. It is really apparent that as much as we did, Patty wanted the kitchen to be as perfect as we have dreamed of, as if it were her own. And it did. We couldn't be more happier with the outcome. Our family have been utterly enjoying all the family cooking and gathering in our new kitchen. We owe this a lot to Patty's superb design skills, practical considerations, and ultimately the strong ownership and professionalism. Thank you again Patty and Signature Kitchen Design!

She took my aesthetics and ideas and skillfully incorporated them into a design that felt deeply "us," while elevating everything in ways I couldn't have achieved on my own. We now have more space, a peninsula where our whole family can eat, all without knocking down walls. This wasn't just a kitchen remodel for us; it was a kitchen that evolved with our family, and one we will enjoy for years to come as we move into the late elementary and junior high seasons of raising our kids. Patty and Kurt put their heart in the heart of the home! Patty said that "it takes a village," and that is exactly what this process felt like: a true village effort, thoughtfully coordinated to bring everything together beautifully. Their attention to detail was outstanding from precise measurements to careful planning, thoughtful execution, and consistent, attentive follow-up with us throughout the project. We always felt cared for, never rushed, and deeply supported in our decisions. Patty and Kurt treated us like partners in the process, not just clients, and their communication was clear, warm, and reassuring from start to finish. Our finished kitchen has exceeded our expectations in both beauty and function, and it brings us joy every single day. Friends, family, and neighbors continue to compliment the transformation and the quality of the design.
