I recently collaborated with Kristin McRae on my kitchen cabinet design. We selected Sollera cabinets from a Canadian company. I am probably one of the most difficult clients because my requirements are not typical: - Schedule: I wanted my cabinets delivered in 3 months, right before Thanksgiving. - Precision: The cabinet design should be error-free to save time during install. They must fit into existing plumbing and electrical. - Style: I need a designer who can understand my aesthetics and overall vision for the design. You can see from the pictures that my cabinets are not typical ones that are trending on Pinterest. I want the design to be artistically balanced, personalized to my taste and decor, timeless, and have vintage vibes. - Cost: I need a designer who can understand trade-offs between cost and functionality. I know my kitchen and how to use it. I don't need fancy features. For example, I made a conscious decision NOT to include 2 Lazy Susans that not only impacted the aesthetic of the overall design but also increased cost and appeared to be useless for my application (my kitchen is big. I don't need optimize every little space.). Instead I added 6 big drawers as focal points. They provide plenty of useful space. - Practicality: I need a designer who understands what it takes to keep a kitchen clean and functional. She should be able to communicate and advise with logical reasoning. - Flexible: I like to explore design options until I am satisfied with the final version. I need to understand pros/cons and visualize design choices until I am happy with the results. I don't like to be rushed. Kristin turned out to be THE dream designer, who met all my requirements. I lost counts of how many times we restarted from scratch. Her flexibility, patience, and experience allowed me to come up with a design that is not only practical but also aesthetically pleasing. Just to show how patient and flexible she was: when I presented a new vent hood spec at the last minute, she changed her design to accommodate it because she understood I had been searching for an ideal hood throughout the design phase. She also spent an extra week validating the entire design to ensure everything is perfect. Her attention to details is even more than mine so I trusted her completely. After care: Kristin not only ordered VIP delivery service (making the experience stress-free for me: I didn't have to account for all the boxes delivered), she provided a diagram mapping cabinet ids to her design (making the installation easy), she made herself available for questions to my installers, and when there were damages during installation, she facilitated immediate reorder of the cabinet doors replacement at cost. Although there are many kitchen designers, the one that can be trusted with your dream is not easy to find. My advice is to find a designing company with not just good designers but also reputable cabinet manufacturers. Remember, everything in the kitchen can be updated with new materials, except the cabinets. Our old one lasted 60 years: it was made with solid maple. I expect mine to last another generation. It was a pleasure to work with Kristin. I will be sending friends to her as she is experienced, careful, detailed, and easy to work with. We recently renovated our kitchen and bathrooms using Artistic Kitchen. We worked with Julie to select cabinets and finishes. Julie was amazing. Julie and the Crystal rep visited my kitchen. What I thought was wear and tear on the edges was just extra paint that needed to be cleaned out. Julie has offered to replace one cabinet door that got badly damaged from the back of a screw of a near by door knob. She also helped me touch up a few areas of paint scratches and is going to send me a protective piece to help lessen the damage on the trash cabinet from constant opening and closing. My husband, an aspiring mixologist and myself, an interior designer and serious home cook, had very specific requirements and ideas for our new kitchen. A few examples are a bespoke bar area with specialized features such as, custom-designed cabinetry for a glass chiller and hidden CO2 tank, hutches with wire-mesh doors and interior lighting for our glass barware collection, a rolling library ladder to reach the upper shelves; base cabinetry with a pull-out for a full-size composter, one for a lift tray for a stand mixer; a coffee center with pull-out trays for coffee machines behind slide and hide pocket doors. When we embarked on our journey to remodel our 1980s Kitchen we shopped around at a lot of cabinet vendors. Most vendors came short on their ability to customise the cabinets to what I wanted or they didn't seem to have great problem solving solutions for us. I saw all the configurations I wanted in my new kitchen and for the first time since I started planning the remodel I was excited! She came to the house to look at what we had. Took all the measurements so she would be able to draw up the designs. Then asked me the most important question. What is it you don't like about your kitchen? That for me was heart warming as I felt finally some one wants to understand why I want and better understand our needs. She had us come in a few times to the shop And work on the design layout until we were happy. We recently finished a job with Artistic Kitchen, I would highly recommend this place, and kudos to our designer Kristin McRae, she is awesome! Our project is vanity cabinets in several bathrooms, including a quite challenging irregular shaped one. We were sure we want to do crystal cabinets, so talked with a couple of dealers, Artistic was the top two we liked from our list (I hesitate putting it on our list in the beginning, we thought they only do kitchens, good to know they also do bathrooms and other places :) ). And the reason we finally decided to work with them is the professional advices and information from Kristin. And we are happy we made this decision, the process went quite smooth, we don't need to worry about it, only need to provide personal design preferences. The installation was not trivial, and the design team also helped with great advice to our GC. Appreciate that. We worked with Mike R on our kitchen. I rarely write reviews and am COMPLETELY blown away with the attention to detail and quality. Highlights: * Mike worked with our designer and provided a range of cabinet choices for us - all of them are super high quality and beautiful * He took the time to explain the different construction details and features of the different brands - some had different options for integrated spices, trash/recycling etc * We choose two colors - a walnut and an off white. We were able to take samples down to the granite slab and really ensure the colors would work. One of the walnut samples was faded, and he got us a new sample to give me comfort that it would match well. * The quality of these cabinets is UNBELIEVABLE. * He personally came the day they were delivered and checked off every box against the list, and ensured that nothing was damaged in transit. * After the cabinets were installed, he came by and reviewed the installation personally. Finally, a year and a half after starting the planning to remodel my small galley kitchen and the first contactor backing out, Los Altos Builders came to the rescue and did a beautiful job on the project. Both John and Charles were responsive to questions and issues (of which there were very few) and I cannot say enough about how pleased I was with all of the workers... the tile layer, electrician, plumber, painter and general workers. Everyone on the team arrived on time each day and put in long hours. A special shout out to Rafael and Jose who were here almost every day doing everything from demolition to installing the new cabinets and reinstalling my appliances. I really appreciated their attention to detail and answering my many questions. I am so pleased with my new kitchen and would definitely use Los Altos Builders again. We used Artistic Kitchen for an Eichler remodel recently and cannot recommend them highly enough. They excelled at all phases of the project, from planning to design to construction. In addition, they were very friendly and great to work with. Our project was a completely new kitchen, with new flooring and paint throughout the house, plus minor bathroom updates. They very were open to our ideas, incorporating the good ones and gently explaining why the bad ones wouldn't work so well. We started our remodel in 2/2020, just before the pandemic hit- needless to say, things quickly became complicated. When it was time to look at cabinets, we sought out Artistic Kitchen almost as an afterthought; we were still deciding between options including semi-custom or even off-the-shelf possibilities given the limitations of the pandemic. Well- after my first meeting with Julie I was completely blown away! She had such an incredible understanding of our aesthetic and our functional goals for the kitchen. I made sure to bring my husband along for the second meeting(he was still leaning towards non-custom options) and even he was immediately swayed. The design process was seamless and Julie had an awesome talent for planning everything with a great level of detail (we went with Crystal cabinets). She even moved our island by a few inches because it wasn't up to code requirements on the plans drawn up by our architect. Juan deserves an additional kudos for great customer service with our account as well. We moved back into our fully remodeled house 6 months ago and the kitchen is such a huge highlight and "wow" factor. It also looks just like the 3D renderings she did for us, which is remarkable! We had AKD do a major kitchen & first floor renovation project for our new house. They removed two load-bearing walls, replaced a window, removed 4 rooms worth of mismatched tile and replaced it with hardwood, installed cabinets, a backsplash, and appliances, did all the plumbing and electrical work, and managed all of the engineering work, inspections, and subcontractors (just for installation of the granite countertops - everything else was in house). It was a huge project and took months to complete. The project seemed to take forever, but we couldn't be happier with the end result. I certainly can't fault AKD for the timeframe - this remodel was very extensive and was bound to take some time to complete. We started out working with our designer, Yana. She was very helpful and always seemed to be excited about the project, which definitely gave us a feeling that we were in good hands. She first produced several layout options, after which we collaborated to refine one of the designs into the final plan for our space. Because that plan required the removal of a couple of load-bearing walls, Yana arranged for an engineer to provide input on the design. We ended up with something that looks really great. Yana also accompanied us to help pick out granite and backsplash options. Her advice was very helpful to us - trying to pick from hundreds of options can be daunting, but her experience and expertise were immeasurably useful. Once demolition and construction started, we noticed significant progress every day. Jan and the rest of the construction guys were very friendly and professional. They did a great job of cleaning up before heading home for the day, which made it easy for us to check out the work that had been done on a daily basis. They were very responsive to all of the questions and comments that we had during the entire process. Jan and his guys also helped out with a couple of incidental problems that cropped up during the project, which saved me from having to hunt down more people when they were already around. The only negative experience we had during the entire remodeling project was with the appliance company, who I'll review separately. AKD were nothing but the ultimate example of professionalism, expertise, and customer service during this entire process. The great: Julie is an amazing designer and helped through the process like a pro. Gave tons of tips and useful recommendation that we would not think of. The kitchen came out amazing. The quality of the cabinets is top notch, and the result perfectly matches my vision for this kitchen. Not so great: I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because of what happened after we placed an order. We had a very tight timeline, and a contractor lined up immediately after cabinet delivery. Artistic Kitchen charges $1750 for cabinet shipping and delivery, so the amount is significant. For that kind of money they were not able to tell me even a week earlier whether the cabinets will be delivered to me in the morning or afternoon. Over and over again I asked for a simple thing: please give me a 2 hour delivery window. Pretty standard service for almost $2k, right? Wrong! Lots of sweet talking and courtesy emails from them, but I wasn't able to get the information until the very last moment. I was very disappointed about this part, and expected more from them for the money. read more

The people there were friendly and we spoke to the owner Greg and he seemed interested in working with us and told us that a designer would contact us within a week.
