Had such a great experience here! I came in to the store because i needed some guidance on certain products to get. One of the employees in particular was so helpful, her name was Osha! So so sweet and really helped point me in the right direction. Some other poor reviews here were about not being greeted - however in my opinion, i dont like to be overwhelmed with a chorus of "hello!", so i definitely didnt mind. it was nice to look around before being approached by Osha. I'm giving 3 stars for the overall store and 4 stars to Kay one of the employees:-) when I first walked in I wasn't really noticed or said hello too and there were a few girls working in some faces in the store so I didn't really expect it since they were focusing on their clients but it's always nice to know how to break away and be aware of your surrounds as well anyways after spending some time looking confused and picking up and putting down along with googling what products were used for what I was met with Kay . She was apologetic in my so far experience I had had in the store and was more that happy to help me figure out what I needed. I'm usually not a fan of the customer service at any Mac. I've been to multiple and usually feel ignored. I was pleasantly surprised when I came to this one and had help finding items and they answered all of my questions. I also got my makeup done by Brittany. I love MAC makeup. Love it. I especially love their eye shadows, blush, and lip gloss. I also like studio fix - a powder foundation which is great for days when I don't need the coverage of a liquid. I must go here at not-so-busy times, because I have never had a problem getting help with picking out the items I need. One time I had just purchased a cute, bright blue birthday dress at H&M and knew I needed some new shadows to compliment my outfit. I walked into MAC, held up the dress, and said "I need makeup to match this." A woman immediately took on the challenge, picked out the perfect eye makeup, and taught me how to put it on. While applying my makeup she said "you'll be wearing gold shoes, right?" I told her yes although prior to her saying that I wasn't sure what shoes to wear. For my friend's wedding, everyone in the bridal party was getting their makeup done professionally... except me. I do a decent job at my own makeup, but I was a little worried. So when I accompanied the bride to her appointment at MAC, I had mine done but it didn't look amazing. I was browsing around the store, and was planning on trying some of the samples to jazz my look up a bit, when a friendly sales associate named Adria approached me and asked if I needed any help. I told her that I felt like my look wasn't really done, so she immediately set to work, choosing a good blush, lipstick, lipgloss and brow shadow on me. All along the way, she was explaining how she was applying it so I could learn how to do it myself. At no point did she give me a sales pitch on any of the items. So while you usually have to pay $50 for a makeup application (where you are buying $50 worth of cosmetics and they use those on you during the appointment), Adria did this for me for free, and the end result was awesome. The cosmetics seem quite pricey for me, but I could tell it was really good quality, and the service was certainly impressive. read more

I went to Macy's to buy clothes but my daughter wanted to stop at the M*A*C* counter to get some lipstick. I was bored so I had the sales clerk show me a few items. My eyebrows are so light that it doesn't look like I have any at all. She picked out a color that she thought was right for my skin tone and applied the brow liner. Let me just say I have eyebrows and they look amazing so I had her recommend me a couple of other products to help me look younger. If you have a chance to stop by there look for Carla she is an amazing makeup artist!!!! I have so much more confidence in myself it's unbelievable. I will only by their products and only from her. Pretty good experience here for my first purchase. I was walking around with the 190 foundation brush and this girl came up to me and told me about the package deal, 5 different brushes for $50. Okay, so this experience started off bad but ended on a very good note. I meant to write this back in Feb 2012 when it happened, but time has flown, so hopefully the manager is still there. I went on a weekday morning so it was pretty empty and one of the girls comes up to me and starts doing my make up. It was really really horrible. I tried to be polite and not let on in any way that I didn't like what she was doing because she told me she's only been there a month and I didn't want to make her feel bad, but thank goodness, the manager noticed what she was doing and she came in and SAVED me!!! I was secretly wishing in my mind, "please, please, manager with the awesome eyeshadow, will you do my make up instead?" And thankfully, after some time she read my mind and did! Haha. I wish I could remember her name-oh! It's Adria. Pretty name. Adria's own makeup was FLAWLESS!!!! Her colors were gorgeous. That's why I wanted her to do mine. She mentioned she was a makeup artist for MAC for 7yrs or something like that. The other girl....uh, not so much. Kinda ghetto looking makeup on herself and what she did on me. But she was nice and courteous - it's just unfortunate she didn't know what she was doing. Anyways, I ended up staying there almost 2hrs, and bought a ton of stuff - I think $300 worth of stuff. Great Mac Store! I came here with my mom last week to find her some new eye shadow! I was shocked to find out that single shadows that you put into your own palette are only $6!!! WHAT?!!! I had a major awards ceremony that I was participating in and was going to be on the stage the entire time. The theme of the event was "The Roaring 20's" I was going all out for this event. I bought the replica 20's style cocktail dress and had researched how to do my hair. It was the make up I wasn't sure I could do. Being the Do-It-Yourself type of gal I am, I scoured youtube for 20's style make up lessons. I just didn't have the confidence in my self. I divulged my worries to an associate of mine who said. "Oh, why don't you just make an appointment at MAC? They will know exactly what to do." So I did. I made the earliest appointment I could get (11am) the day of the event. I chose to be worked on, on the retail floor rather than get the personal room. I had all day as far as I was concerned so I didn't mind. My make up artist had to occasionally help other customers but I didn't mind. I have worked in retail half my life and know the importance of good customer service Looking back, its probably worth just paying the $50 fee to get the personal room. I wound up spending more anyway from all the goodies I wanted after my make up was done. Glenn did my make up and I love him. He did an amazing job! I was the hit of the party and the ceremony. I have to say that this is the number one business I would recommend. Hands down the best when it comes to customer service and product. I'm coming back next year for two gala events I'm going to. One of which is Western Themed. I wonder what magic they can do for that one? read more

Here is the thing. I am not a makeup person. I stick with my face powder and lipgloss on a regular basis. But... I have a milestone birthday coming up and I so dearly wish that I could look a little bit more made up than my usual. Having seen ladies getting their faces made up and overhearing the MAC ladies' impromptu makeup lessons whenever I pass by, I figured they should be where I go to find a flattering red lipstick that will not look so odd with my almost nonexistent makeup. They suggested a lipstick and told me that I ought to wear it with a lip liner if I want it to look gorgeous and unmessy, for which I am thankful. I did love the recommendations they gave me and I did end up buying the lip liner and lipstick. However, this whole process took me an hour. An HOUR, and that is not an exaggeration. The one makeup lady (I assume, since she was the only one clad in all-black) on the floor told me she will be right with me with hardly a look in my direction -- she was helping out a customer, granted, but the lipstick test seemed to have taken considerably less time than the gossiping between them. Friendly, yes. Efficient, no. When I was finally able to get some help, we were interrupted twice because the phone was ringing or someone wanted to pay for their purchases but no one was manning the cash register. (I did see one other employee go out for a breather for what seemed a personal reason.) While I was happy that I was able to find my lipstick, I am unhappy that what should have been a 15-minute stop, tops, stretched to an hour. I think that they need more employees as they get overwhelmed a bit too quickly. read more

Just to start... I LOVE MAC! When entering the store I noticed they had a security guard at the door (Really!?) Walked in and looked around, sampled a few colors, after 5 minutes of not really knowing what I wanted, I then realized that I was never approached by any of the sells associate to see how I was doing, or if I need any Help! At that point, I just wanted to leave the store, while I was walking out one of the sell associate applying make-up on a women sitting in a chair, bumps me and never says excuse me or sorry. 2 big thumbs down to this spot! read more

I don't usually shop at the MAC store, but had some special needs. And hey, what girl doesn't want to hit the mother ship for the glam supplies? You never know what other goodies will drop into your radar. Unfortunately, MAC really missed the boat here, plus my spending. I came in carrying 2 items for replacement. A pencil and a brush. Pretty straight forward right? 3 registers, but only one girl 2 dudes standing at the entrance - no help 2 girls that would surface from the back and give orders Basically, you walk in....the 2 dudes stare at you like you're going to steal something. Get in the line of 10 people - because that one chick behind the register? She's the ONLY one helping anyone. 30 min in the Q - and she takes my 2 items, finds one, then rings it up. I was there close to 40 min. 5 employees, but only 1 that was helping anyone. This is what happens when you have crappy management in place. I will never go back. If Macys doesn't have it, I don't need it. One star because they had the eye pencil. They could have sold me a boat load of goodies.... They are set up to pamper. But the staff thinks they are Walgreens, not MAC. Too bad. read more

My boyfriend brought me in here to get my makeup done so that we could take pictures. MAYRA was the make artist who helped me and she is beyond amazing at what she does. She must've been inside my head because she gave me exactly what visioned but 10 times better. She picked the best colors to compliment my skin tone and i walked out feeling like a super model ( honestly, I'm not a vain person at all but i couldn't stop looking in the mirror because i felt so pretty! ). Mayra was so sweet and made me feel really comfortable. I'm so grateful that she just happened to be working this last Sunday because she has a gift to make people feel their best. So i LOVE LOVE LOVE MAC and all that jazz but MAN talk about misinformed unorganized and just weird service! I went in on a saturday afternoon knowing it was going to be busy. A lady helped me find colors that would be different and fun, my only thing is i wanted in a four color palatte which they were out of. I was informed they would be in on monday and I could come back then. i tried to figure out if it would be worth the money spent driving and bridge toll to come back or just buy everything without a palatte...cheaper to come back seemed my answer. SO monday comes around and my stuff wasnt where it was saved, there were no palattes and then the man informs me that they didnt get palattes but he'd take my number and in 20 minutes the same lady would be in to help me find the colors again and help me with the situation. Well no one called me. and an hour later i walked in to see her owrking. Have no idea where the guy was and asked her about how to fix the situation, she then kinda pushed the idea of me driving to berkeley!!!! SERIOUSLY...NO FREAKING WAY! i cant drive around for $60 worth of merchandise AND spend $20 on gas and bridege toll! i dont think so she thne kidna made it seem like she had no more time for me and informed me they sell out of everything fast. WOW really!?!?!?! didnt notice! i know that....so then i just ended up buying two things with a gift card and left unhappy. That was the worst service ever! read more

I would come here every two weeks at least from 00'-08 when I lived in Clayton. I also worked at the mall for 3 years in high school so would be there allot! After, a long day yesterday 5/30, I decided to go shopping for make-up at M.A.C. Well, I look around & one of the girls came up to me & asked me if I needed any help. So, I explained to her that I have this orangey looking facial powder that I bought here & that they didn't match me. She sat me down & within a minute she literally got a good match. (It's about time.) Seriously, I was going to Sephore, after this like my friends recommended, if they didn't match my skin color. So I took awhile with her & asked a few questions on how to do smokey eyes. What brushes would I need. I loved her make-up so much, her smokey eyes were unbelievable. She was nice, knowledgeable & real patient. I know they say that the girls here are catty but she took her time with me. I must disagree with cattiness because I got this real nice girl that attend me well with full attention. I'll admit I don't know how to do my eyeshadow, never tried to learn. But now I want to put some on & said that she would teach me how to. So tomorrow am calling to set an appointment with her. Thx..!!!! read more

WORST experience with them with their Customer Service over the PHONE!!! I get my Makeup done many times from several different MAC Stores...Well, I had called them 2 make an appointment for my Girl's Birthday and it was around PROM Season...Well, the Person who had A's the phone told me: 1) I had to Drive all the way there coming from Pleasanton to make the Appointment and it's first come first serve so the time I want might not be available any longer once I got there. 2) When I make my confirmed appointment I have to purchase a $50 gift card, to be sure to purchase MAC Products after Appt. Oh I was LIVID...I purchase many MAC Cosmetics throughout the year...Like i Don't know about the POLICY that your minimum purchase goes towards the Appointment. What made me PO'd was that they acted as if I was going there for PROM make-over, ummm I'm way past those years and again a loyal customer to MAC. Since you guys keep your MAC clients on file, why don't you check peoples names when they call in and see their buying history with MAC before you tell them to go buy a $50 gift-card...It's insulting as if already profiling you that you're not going to purchase! You bet I called corporate and filed a complaint about that location and how it was handled...So instead that night I went to the MAC counter at Macy's in Sunvalley Mall and got Lucked out with a contractor with MAC who actually was BAD-ASS and did a Great JOB! Vented how the MAC Store treated me...Appearantly she too has gotten many complaints by other customers about the Sunvalley MAC Store. Oh YES, and I've spent maybe 3x the amount than that stupid minimum fee... Their F'n LOST! I will never set my foot in that store ever after how I was treated over the phone! read more

So I'd like to say I had a good experience. but talk about disorganized. First of all I've shopped here many many times in the past. And they've recently moved the tables/counters around so now they are in the center of the store making it very difficult to move around the store (especially if there are multiple customers shopping and browsing). To me it made it feel not very inviting to come in and browse this small store, so whoever had this "brilliant" idea for restructuring in the store is clueless. I feel this definitely added to the confusion that happened to my daughter and I the other night. When we entered the store it was around 8:20 and there were multiple customers and only two clerks trying to "work" the crowd. My daughter knew exactly what she needed and had it in her hand, and at one point one salesclerk did acknowledge us and say she'd be with us shortly. But then went up to the counter to finish the transaction with the customer she was helping, to then help another customer (who was in the store before us). The problem was that customer had a special discount card that was expired or was new and needed to fill out a form, and she could of had her do that and rung up the purchase in my daughter's hand while this woman filled it out. Or asked if we had a quick purchase or question. It's called "multitasking"..... especially when the store is busy and it's obvious people are waiting to be helped. Instead of just standing there....... The other clerk rang up her customer and started helping another customer that was standing there with her boyfriend ( who I know walking in after us) and this is when my daughter got angry and put the item down and said "forget it lets go". The clerk says: "I'm sorry she was first". But if they were paying attention to the on goings of their store, they would have realized we had walked in way before the girl and the boyfriend. It really was blatantly rude and disorganized. At this point we had almost waited 20 minutes and didn't feel like arguing that we had actually been there first. And ultimately they lost a sale. And personally I can find a different MAC to go to in the future. I know what it's like to be busy in retail, but I equally know the importance of keeping control of who's next in your store and with keeping customers happy and moving. Those girls needed some real customer service technique. And I've gone during the day to this store and had great help in the past, this was really disappointing experience read more

After my bitter resentment by M.A.C. at Macy*s Union Squre, I decided to give M.A.C. one more try, but I went to my local mall to give it a go. Sure it was uber busy because it was New Years Eve, but I was able to find what I was looking for and find an associate to help me in a quickness. And even when they didn't have the color eye shadow I was looking for, the associate found me a combo eye shadow set, which was perfect. In the end, I received quick service and pleasant associates. This is just about the only place I get my makeup. Even when I lived in Dublin I traveled the distance to Concord to get my MAC cosmetics in pallets. I admit its difficult to get service sometimes, especially during busy hours, but the quality of the products beats all. I love MAC free standing stores.....they have everything not like the counter ones at Macy's or Nordstroms. I got my makeup done here for my birthday back in April and it was great. The gals are super sweet and very helpful.....and best of all the actually have the palettes here....ohhh i love it. Dont forget to give them your info and they can track all your purchases so you dont buy duplicates of the colors you have. And take advantage of the recycling programs...very cool. read more

While at the MAC store in Sunvalley mall, Pleasant Hill CA, I received the worst customer service ever. This store typically is slow and no one seems to bother with you unless you appear to buying a lot. I was told to wait for Donna to ring up a purchase. Apparently no one else was allowed to ring up purchases. Well I have been in there before and the other girls had rung me up before. This one person register policy is a joke. I was left to stand there for 10 minutes. At which point she was finally walked out and acted like ringing me up was a favor. The customer service at this location is horrendous. I will glady drive to Nordstroms in Walnut Creek to buy my MAC makeup. I hope disciplinary measures are taken and the entire staff is retrained in customer service, because there is absolutely none at this store. I would rate this negative stars if possible! read more

I love MAC cosmetics so much. I've tried just about everything out there and MAC is the one cosmetic that really agrees with my skin. I've been in on a BUNCH of occasions and have always been greeted by a friendly staff, eager to assist me. I've been given full make-overs to small make-up tips...all with professionalism. On a few occasions I've been fortunate to have been assisted by a beautiful associate there named Trey. I asked for assistance doing a smoky-eye and she helped me not only pick out the right products, but also showed me the right way to apply them for my eye shape. I so appreciated that!! Other times she's assisted me it's been like that, too. She's such a class act. I really appreciate the way the ladies in this store go out of their way to help me find what I need, even when they're super busy. I won't shop for MAC anywhere else. read more

This location is my favorite MAC store. Even though it's about a 25-minute drive for me to get to, it's well worth it! The staff is super knowledgeable about the products and ALWAYS ready to assist. I've had my makeup done by Sophia and Tiffany - both great girls who are good at what they do. Tiffany most recently did my makeup for my bday. I brought my dress in so she could get an "idea" of the color scheme I wanted and she did a phenomenal job! Jill is also a sweetheart! She's never done my makeup but hers is always on point! I highly recommend that you go to the store on a weekday! Weekends are chaotic and you may find yourself waiting FOREVER! Also, if having your makeup done you should definitely call in advance to make an appointment. Your makeup application is free if you purchase $50 in product and are willing to have it done on the main floor (you may experience brief interruptions if your artist needs to assist other store patrons). read more

MAC cosmetics are great. My favorite MAC experience has to do with fake eyelashes; some -- I should say MOST -- of the ones they carry are super-diva-lishous, but was going to a work event. Granted, it was a very nice evening-attire work event, but still couldnt' do the sparkly eyelashes. I asked for the most "natural" looking ones (which had enough "glam" component still) and the MAC lady put them on for me. Good thing because I can be a little clutzy with this make-up routine and because I don't even own eyelash glue. She cut them down to size and applied them. read more
