Only came in here once and I was treated with disrespect. This was two years ago that I came in, but I still can remember how awful of an experience it was and it still stings of how badly I was treated there. Whoever that lady was that gave me huge attitude was a total b**tch, excuse my french. Yes, I may not be dressed in expensive shit but come on, whoever walks into the store should be taken care of and treated with respect. We are all coming in there as customers. I just wanted to get Studio Fix fluid and since nobody came up to me to help me( after wandering aimlessly for half an hour), I walked to the products on the wall so that I can look at the foundations. This very rude girl, instead of asking me if I needed help, told me that I can't be by the wall because it's employees only. I nicely then stated that I just needed help getting a foundation but she interjects and yells at me that it's employees only and that I can't be there. Wow, I was stunned by how much of a prick she was. She angrily stomps off and, standing there, I was all embarrassed & quite humiliated I must say (people were staring at me). I then look for another employee to help me out. The girl who helped me out this time was much nicer, and my checkout experience was pretty good. I was relieved to be out of the store when I decided to check my product, and sure enough, they gave me Select SPF 15 instead of Studio Fix. Whoever the girl was that helped me was nice, but obviously an idiot since I specifically asked for Studio Fix and even got shade matched. So I mustered up the courage to walk back in the store and exchange it for the actual product that I needed. Because of this experience I am actually scared of going into a MAC store, I would rather just order it online. read more

My experience was embarrassing and annoying all at once. I went to a Mac store in Vegas a while back to get a makeup test done for my wedding. They did a fantastic job to help me create the look I was going for on my big day, and the makeup I purchased was well used and loved for a long time. Not you, Brea Mall Mac. Not. You. I took my friend Kristen here for a makeup test for her big day in June. I head to the counter, after NOT being greeted by anyone, after browsing a few items and received NO inquiry for service even though several ladies after us did. I ask the counter-person about a makeup test and they tell us that the manager would be back in 30 minutes to assist the staff so one of them could do the test for us. Fast forward 40 minutes: walk back in only to witness that same woman who gave us the manager story, applying makeup to someone! I know they make appointments but they did not advise us of any other appointments, the girl's boyfriend was present and looking quite bored (you don't bring your boyfriend to a makeup appointment), basically I'm just trying to impart that it wasn't for a prom, it wasn't for a dance, it was a Wednesday night at 7:30pm, like us, this woman probably wanted a quick test as well. Granted, am I positive she didn't have an appointment, No. But maybe tell people who may be effected by other peoples' appointments. After waiting around another 10 minutes with NO ONE asking to help us, oh but please spend all your time helping the cougars try on Lady Gaga pink lipstick, I finally just wait at the front like I'm going to buy something, I ask again about the makeup test and are told that the person who was going to do it went to lunch and to come back in 10 minutes. I don't know what we were thinking.... but we walked around and came back 15 minutes later. AGAIN, we had to hunt down a salesperson to ask about our test and she said "She (makeup artist) should be back at any moment." NOPE, 10 minutes later we walked out the door, no acknowledgment whatsoever each time. I wouldn't be so miffed if I wasn't aware of how those places work, and I've been to fantastic Mac stores where each and every person wanted to help you and were excited to help you. On top of that, what really burns my buns is seeing the teeny boppers getting assistance left and right, I'm not anti-teens or anything, but I believe in equal treatment no matter where you go. I was actually embarrassed by this treatment, did I not look cool enough for you? Was my outfit not black enough for you? The worst part was this was a suggestion by me to my friend and she was sorely disappointed. I'm embarrassed I even suggested Mac and will not be going to this particular store again. I was really looking forward to buying some makeup and watching my friend get purtied up. PS: Fluorescent lighting is not flattering and if you insist on having all your artists wear pancake makeup why not spring for more flattering lighting? So I got my makeup done here for engagement pictures for the very first time and I did not know what to expect. But the lady who did my makeup was so sweet and I felt really comfortable around here. I wish I remembered her name because the makeup she did in me was GORGEOUS! I got my makeup done here August 27 and she said she's originally from the Mac store at Mall in Santa Ana but was filling in. I wish I could go back and tell her what an amazing job she did! It was 60$ I think when you purchase items. Ended up paying 75$ but returned an item back I didn't like. Overall it was worth it! Posted a picture! read more

Agree w/ the customer service being pretty bad over here. My mom & I were approached by a worker who was very rude & was very pushy pushy. Instead of trying to help us look for an eyeshadow color, she was shoving products at us left and right without even listening to us. First off I love M.A.C makeup, It is my first choice for makeup and I have been using it for about 6 years now. Saying that I know what colors/ product I want when I go in to the store! So after looking around I was helped by this guy I told him what I wanted and what colors I was hopping to use to get that effect, he kept pushing greens/pinks on me when I was asking for grey's/blacks for a smokey eye. He explained that you could have a smokey eye with any color, but I then explained I wanted the grey/black look. After that he seemed to lose interest. I was chose a lid color and asked him what colors should I chose for the smokey eye look. He said I could get the colors and he could show me how to do it but it would waste our time because I would never learn it with out practice... This upset me I have never been to a M.A.C store where they were not helpful and willing to show me how to apply the makeup. After this I was just frustrated, got my 3 colors, he was pushing a third color which I didn't like, but bought anyway because I felt preasured. I have worked in retail for quite some time, and never think it is right to preasure customers into buying more! I ended up returing everything I bought that day because the colors didn't work together. This seems to be the norm for workers at this store. I'll stick to other M.A.C's 5/5 stars for their product 0/5 for service. read more

Ok so I want to start out with a shout out to Elliot! Not only is he super cute but an amazing makeup artist! I have had a problem for years... my makeup looks amazing for the first hour but then it separates and looks all blotchy. It doesn't matter how much I put on it will grab onto my pores and look cakey. I've gone to ulta and Sephora for help... they gave me primer after primer. I've spent $$$$ on different products that never helped. I finally said screw it.. I hadn't been to a MAC makeup since I was 18... I always thought the products at MAC were too "thick" so I stopped going and continued at Sephora for years. My first time back was sooo helpful, thanks to Elliot. He took so much time to help me. He tried like 4 different products on my face. It was a long process of doing the entire face, taking me out to sunlight, removing it, trying another product. I will ONLY go to Elliot now. I am so appreciate for the time he took with me. It changed my mind completely about MAC. read more

I called the Mac store in the Brea Mall to see if they had availability for two people to receive makeup applications. The phone was continuously busy so I kept hitting redial until my call went through. The person answering immediately asked if I could hold and then that was it! I was on hold for 10 minutes without anyone ever coming back on the line even if just to say "Sorry for the wait!" I called the Mac counter at Nordstrom's and booked the appointments without any problem and they did a fantastic job. The abundance of poor reviews on Yelp indicating that the Brea Mac store having poor customer service couldn't be more true. read more

I went in to get my face matched for coloring and I wanted something to cover up the red spots on my face. The girl who matched my face was not great, and the product she used didn't really rub in all the way. I ended up wanting to return the makeup and when I did, I was put through the runaround of if I wanted to try another product, when I said I just wanted my money back. I went here because the mac counter in nordstrom was really busy.. boy that was a mistake. I told a girl I wanted a makeup done for a e-session, she told me to come back in 30 mins when there are more people on the floor. I said it was fine and I came back 30 mins later. When I came back, the girl I talked to went on break and her manager said for me to talk to someone else, which was fine too, except the makeup she put on for me made me look really dark. The lighting in the store was really bright, and when not in that light, I came out looking like I had a bad tan. I went to the nordstrom mac counter and the worker told me that the shade they put on was wayyyy too dark. What a waste of time and money. read more

She spent time with me to make sure all of my questions were answered and successfully picked out a foundation that would accommodate my stubborn skin type. I have been to this MAC multiple times in the past couple years and I have been to other MAC locations, and this one consistently has bad customer service. It is only this MAC store that I have been to where I have waited for assistance for 30+ minutes. On the rare occasion where I don't leave before someone finally helps me and I ask for a specific product because I know about makeup - the employees always bring out a product that is completely opposite of what I want. On top of that, the employees are more often than not just plain rude! Ladies, save the trouble and go to another MAC store for your products or for help with cosmetics. read more

I had heard such good things about MAC. So this was the first place I went to when I heard they had a good eyebrow pencil. I found the pencil I was looking for and the girl approached me to see if I wanted her to try it on me. I was excited because she had nice eyebrows. I just wanted something that looked natural, yet defined. The girl started on my left eyebrow first. Um...ya. She made me look like a freakin sharpie!!! No, no, no. Way too harsh and dramatic. I asked her for a makeup remover wipe and told her thank you and that I would keep looking. I just left. I like this store. I just got my makeup done today and the girl did a great job and she had the bombest orange lipstick on! It was 11 am so it wasn't busy, but there were a few people in there and ALL of them were greeted warmly I noticed. The girl that did my makeup got all the products I wanted and did a great job. I usually don't do comments ever on yelp, but I must because hands down Cassie is amazing! She is so helpful from the first day I talk to her. My stepdad went to go to MAC to pick up something while I was at work, he put her on the phone to talk to me and taking that extra step to make sure I got everything I needed. She text messages me for classes and times she can just do my makeup for fun. Then I found out she was Hawaiian and from the same part of Hawaii my daughters family is from and that hit the nail on the head it's the Hawaiian love. Staff is ok I've had some really friendly ones and some less then savory. They do always great me at the door which is more then I can say for some mac stores. I have returned something here and the girl was a little pushy. She sold me the item earlier for under eye concealer but after walking around it felt heavy and cakey so I wanted to return it. She tried to make me feel bad and guilt me into keeping it but I wasn't interested and unhappy that she didn't seem to understand I was unhappy with the item. I was in town to see my in-laws for the holidays and decided to do some last-minute self spoiling. I brought in my 6 empties to recycle, and was helped by a guy to pick an eyeshadow (Naked Lunch~such a great and versatile neutral). But really, this review is for sweet Cassie, who matched me for a BB cream compact, but they were out of it! She called around for me, desperately trying to find me the compact on Christmas Eve, only to find it was out of stock in 3 locations. I'm bummed that I didn't end up taking home the BB cream, but I really felt that Cassie wanted to help me. Thank you for the effort! I'll visit next time :) read more

I have to say that the minute I stepped in the door I was greeted and taken care of. Had an appointment to get my daughters make up done for prom. The girl did a fabulous job!! The reason I am not giving the 5 star is because of the 60 dollar fee uninterrupted or interrupted choice. I have always bought the product and had make up done without interruptions .. Now you don't have to buy product but you get a free mascara if you want uninterrupted .. That's crap! Other than that awesome job at this store!! read more

I came in and she helped match me up and made me feel so comfortable while doing it unlike a lot of other snobby girls at other mac locations.
