My one and only favorite hairstylist Stephanie moved to this salon and I think it was a great idea. Plenty of parking and right in the heart of downtown Brea. Facing the street, the store was very clean but a relaxing cool kids decor. Almost like a fun tattoo shop but for hair. Stephanie always does an excellent job cutting my hair into a nice A-line bob and time flies with her. An hour only feels like 10 minutes. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a lovely hairstylist who knows what fits your style best. The first time we went, he was nervous because he has curly hair and he was worried if he went to a barbershop they wouldn't know how to handle it, so he went to Mike! Called last minute for a full highlight and trim, they took a moment to discuss and ended up making time for me at the exact moment I preferred to go in. Mike, the owner spoke to me on the phone and chose Kim to be my stylist. They are both lovely and Kim REALLY took her time with my hair in the best way. It's healthy and exactly what I wanted to look like when I left the salon. The salon itself is small, which is lovely for people like myself. Noise overstimulation in most salons is horrifying. That didn't happen here. Kim even had her little pup, Coco there during my service since it was just us in the salon. She was such a cute decoration in the corner while we got me pretty, as a pet lover you couldn't find a better way to make me feel at home than to have your dog in my line of sight. They definitely stick to the theme here as well. I got my hair done by Mike. And let me tell you a little about him, I can honestly say I think this guy is a really genuine person. I had a nice conversation with him while I got my hair done. I opted into his Groupon deal he had going on. (If you guys are interested in his Groupon deal, just pay in person for the deal. So he gets the full benefits, rather than Groupon taking part of the sale.) This deal included a balayage, haircut, and blow dry. First off, he mentioned that normally people who purchased Groupon deal kind of get treated like second class citizens and he didn't like that stereotype. Because he was thankful that he was able to get his business out there and gaining clients from this. So he treats all his customers with the same type of respect that he expects to receive. (He used Nordstrom as an explain which is hilarious to me as I worked there for 7 years.) Anyways I get off topic. I came in with my hair previously dyed. We all know this is a problem because this means more sessions. Especially doing something like the balayage. So Mike gave me options. Which I honestly appreciated. He told me he could strip the color himself that'll cost roughly $120. He could just do the balayage but it would come out like a burnt orange. Or I could go home and buy the hair color remover myself and do it for like $16 at cvs and come back for him to complete my hair. Me being the cheap person I am, I obviously did the DIY option. After coming back the same day, where Mike was super flexible in squeezing me back in. We talked about a ton of things while he did his magic on my hair. From where he started and gained his passion with hair to how all the art work in his studio was hand done by him. He has a full bar, or basically close enough and you allowed one free drink. Anything more than that, he would need an alcohol license lol he gave me helpful tips on maintaining my hair, what works best for my hair type and things along the line. He was also telling me I wouldn't get the color I wanted from the images I shown him in the first session but I didn't want it that light anyways. I loved how my hair came out. I think the balayage would of shown better had my hair been curled but that's not what I paid for lol but I love it nonetheless. I will definitely be coming back and I already recommended my sister to make her way to visit this amazing beautiful man. Don't forget to tip guys, common courtesy. We showed up late on a Sunday, last minute haircut before kids go back to school, they were technically closed/closing, but Mike the owner said what the heck I'll do them! I'm going to start this off by saying, I will take a little part of the blame because instead of speaking up and saying I didn't like the haircut. I just said looks good, paid and left. A week ago I went in for a woman's haircut and had Tracey as my hair dresser. This woman is the SWEETEST lady, but unfortunately that doesn't always mean a good haircut. She started by asking what I was looking for and I explained how I wanted curtain bangs and layers; then provided a picture showing what I wanted (I posted the picture I showed her below) and then also explained how I needed some length taken off because I haven't had a real haircut in almost two years. I should've known this wasn't going to go well when she asked again what the kind of bangs I wanted was called, so again I explained. When she asked what length I wanted for the bangs I showed, then again explained I don't want just a blunt cut, I want it layered like this and showed with my hands. Right after she blunt cut it, and then slightly trimmed off the outside pieces so now the pieces towards my face are LONGER than the ones further from my face, which is completely opposite of what I asked for. Then while she was layering my hair she asked where I wanted my first layer and I pointed to the middle/lower end of my neck. Somehow I ended up with a layer that is in the middle of my head almost the length of my bangs. As she was doing the rest of my layers she was doing some different technique I had never seen before and explained how it was "east coast style" and said everyone doing the other technique didn't know what they were doing/making it harder on themselves. But my layers ended up not even and definitely not blended at all. After everything, she did ask me how it looks and I just said looked good, because at that point I just had lost my trust in the process and wanted to get out of there. I didn't even get my hair styled because she said that I'm gonna do my hair best, she did at least blow dry it for me. I've never been to a salon paying that kind of money where they haven't styled my hair before leaving. That part felt more like I just went to great clips and left with my hair huge and frizzy. I wasn't going to post this just because I'm so embarrassed, I went home and cried for an hour afterwards. I've had everyone just in complete disbelief that this is how my hair turned out, especially when I show the inspo picture that I had shown Tracey. People have said it looks like I have a mullet or a wolf's cut. But, the reason why i'm posting this is because she was training two of their barbers who want to do woman's hair now as well. I'm just a little scared they will be taking some of the tips that she had used on me. Again, Tracey was beyond nice and sweet. I came across Salon Prohibition when I was looking for a place to get my hair done for our engagement photos. I do not live locally anymore so wasn't sure where to go. After searching through Yelp and speaking with a few people I decided on trying Salon Prohibition. Ingrid was sweet from our initial text interaction. I had made a reservation for hair and makeup. The night before my appointment I was confirming the time and she told me that she had another appointment for a prom and she asked me to come in earlier, which I could not do due to another appointment. So we had to cancel my makeup with her, which I was kinda bummed about but ok in the end because I felt comfortable with doing it myself. The salon itself is really chic and cool. I was initially a little nervous bc I thought my hair was going to be really flat but in the end Ingrid made my vision come to life. My hair was beautiful and looks great in our pictures. The bonus was that got it done at like 10 am for a 4-8pm shoot and the hair held up the whole time, it even looked good the next day! The only tiny meh experience was with the guy who was working at the station next to us, who if I'm not mistaken is the owner. He made a slightly snarky comment about my natural hair which was rude and really uncalled for. Overall a solid 4 star experience with Ingrid. She is sweet and good at what she does. Amazing service, I wanted to go blonde for the summer my natural hair color is dark brown and curly. Honestly I don't know if any of the reviews are real THIS GUY RUINED MY HAIR. It took 3 years to grow my hair out and it was so beautiful I got compliments all the time. He first bleached my hair so much it was dry and brittle, I went back for a cut. I don't know how any one could cut hair like this- It's so bad it's almost intentional. I was tired of how boring my hair was & decided to look for some salons. At first, I wasn't thinking of checking Groupon out at all because of how Groupon users are normally treated, but thought I might as well check this place out. I'm so thankful that I gave Mike a shot. While reading other reviews, it said that he treated all customers alike and I truly believe he does. I arrived around 5pm on a Friday night. I was already exhausted for the day and I can't imagine how tired he must have been.. working on 5-6 other clients throughout the day before he was stuck doing my hair, but he still did a fantastic job. His skills are insane and he's a really funny guy. I'm really happy with the results & I'll definitely come back to get my hair done again :) For my hair, I went in for a balayage and haircut. Mike explained that it would take multiple sessions to get the color I wanted and I'm glad he was honest and didn't fry my hair for the results I wanted. After getting my hair done, it's actually waaay softer than before and feels so healthy. As for the decor, it was a pretty cozy salon. Much different from other salons and even had a full bar. I was offered a drink once I was seated, but since I had to drive home, I couldn't take up the offer... but it was super cool and unique!! **Side note: I ended up refunding my Groupon and paid the price of the Groupon directly to him so he could get the full profits & tipped him well in my book. RUN FROM THIS "SALON" I came to this salon twice and will never return again. I came to salon on 8.18.18 my wedding day, he left my hair orange and couldn't get it blonde, Michael said don't worry pay me later and I ran off to my other appointment before my wedding day. I gave this guy a 2nd chance to fix my hair and color correct his work, I paid him $150 for my wedding day hair then I returned again and for the last time this past Saturday. I could tell Michael was tired and I said don't worry about blow drying my hair I left with wet hair. I paid Michael $80 for his work (again leaving me copper not blonde) I logged into my Wells Fargo app to notice I had bank fraud on my account and informed him I would be paying him the remainder $120 owed for Services once the bank reversed their funds. This morning this very ghetto and un-professional business owner threatened me via txt messages and called the cops on a pregnant mom only to have the cops tell me they were sorry and were told a different story by Michael and that this was petty. My hairstylist from a few years ago changed careers and I've had a hard time finding someone to cut and color my hair since then. This glowing review is for Kelly- I recently saw Kelly for a haircut and color- a purple balayage blending into my dark brown roots. The bleaching and color process required to go from dark brown to purple hair was quite a marathon (7.5 hours), but Kelly kept a positive attitude and informed of what she was doing every step of the way. Kelly takes careful attention to detail- for instance, she noticed there was a spot where the conditioner hadn't fully rinsed out of my hair and took me back to the sink to get the last of it. I probably wouldn't have noticed if it had been left as is, but it was nice to see the pride she takes in her work. She also noticed a few areas where my bleached hair hadn't fully picked up the purple dye and meticulously combed through my hair and applied spot touch-ups to ensure my hair would be absolutely perfect.
