AVOID! The fact I'm writing a low-negative review is testament to the terrible experience I just had. Poor service, poor management and potential health code violations...Will never go again.
Here's the scoop: Ordered wings for a SuperBowl party and, in haste, failed to check the order before leaving. My bad. Order was completely wrong -- all the boneless we ordered were bone-in. Not a big deal, just called, thought 'easy fix', and gal on the phone was nice enough. She said: "Keep those and we'll fix you up some new ones. Give us 10 mins". Then the fun started.
We get a call back minutes later saying, "Sorry but you need to bring those wings back and please bring your receipt. My manager needs to see them". OK, no big deal but a minor 'strike one' for lack of trust.
Arrive at the store, share who I am, and shortly thereafter manager comes up gruffly, without a word, takes the bag with the errant order to the back and begins inspecting them. Not a 'hello', 'we're sorry for the mistake', or 'go to hell'... Strike 2.
He returns -- again w/o a hello -- and asks, "So, do you want just the new wings or do you want the whole order?". Not sure what he's asking, so I say I just wanted my order right. I mention that the girl on the phone said to keep the previous wings since they couldn't do anything with them. This is where it gets ugly...
He responds that: "We will simply wash the sauce off your previous order and resell those wings to someone else. So, no, you can't have those wings back. We should have never offered that." This is the owner/manager. Stating loudly enough for other patrons to hear that he'd commit a major health code violation. Strike 3.
But it doesn't end there. I menton that reselling the wings is a health code issue. I state I'm not interested in them anyway - he can keep them. I point out that the original error was theirs, not mine -- my receipt clearly shows that what I ordered is not what I got. And I mention that not once has he shown me courtesy or respect. Not a hello, not a 'Sorry for the inconvenience', not a 'how can we make this right'. I also mention that I'm now missing the SB kickoff, my friends, and family, and food that we should have been eating 20+ minutes ago. All of which is due to his error, not mine.
His response: "Oh, well." My response: "Goodbye for good."
When this place was Boomerjack's, my son and I started going here every Sunday for takeout wings and father/son time during football season. We did that for 2 NFL seasons and continued it during the changeover last Fall to Maac's, despite some differences. That tradition is over. We'll go anywhere but here for wings or anything else. I suggest you do too.
I'm a big supporter of local businesses first. Small biz owners deserve a chance. This guy blew his chance with me and - especially if he's reselling returned product -- should lose it altogether. read more
