Menudo

Our first time ordering from here it was amazing. We ordered fish &shrimp tacos. Todays menudo was disgusting I thought if their food was good their menudo would be good as well and no it wasn't we even tried making it better with spices at home and still couldn't get it to taste good. IF YOU LIKE FLAVORLESS MENUDO THEN THIS IS YOUR PLACE

Best place for seafood in the valley by far. Their prices are reasonable as well. If you like mariscos this is the place to go.

One of the things I look forward to is our annual road trip to Scottsdale and a quick stop in El Centro to visit Ma Lupe's.  The colorful decor is cheerful and food excellent.  Sadly this year we had to eat in our HR-V. Windows were decorated for Christmas.  Currently they are only open for takeout.  I ordered 3 street tacos.  Carnitas had some crispy bits and were full of fried pork flavor.  Went great with the corn tortilla.  Carne asada tacos were made with tender, juicy beef and I loved the flavor. The 3 tacos were smaller than I remembered and next time I'll order 4 for a good sized lunch. El Centro reminds me of the old days when you could buy fresh fruit from the side of the road.  Now those fruit stands have but disappeared from San Diego.

The large shrimp cocktail with avocado, cucumbers and special seasonings. It's delicious! It's about $20.00

We usually stop by when we're craving a good shrimp cocktail. Their shrimp cocktails are as good as across the border. Their service is attentive. It's not a big place but there's room for big groups with plenty of parking.

3.75/5stars This was my first time at Ma Lupe's but it definitely won't be my last! I went with a group of friends most who had been here and had their favorite foods. We had a group of 8 but 3 of us, got there a bit early. We were greeted and shown to our table(really nice since our whole group wasn't there) They had two that would fit our large group so we even got to pick one. They gave menus, took our drink order and brought chips and salsa. The chips were not too thick or thin and had a good flavor or & crunch. There were two salsas-one that was quite spicy. The other was less spicy and had a wonderful flavor that we couldn't quite decide what it is, but we really liked. Our group ordered a variety of entrees-Chile Rellenos, Caldo de Res, Special Quesadilla, and Chimichanga. Everyone said they enjoyed their selection. The Chile Relleno were very good. They seemed like they picked the smaller chiles which was perfect for lunch. The chiles were tender and the relleno fried nicely. The sauce was very tasty-my only small complaint was there wasn't more so next time I would ask for more. It wasn't spectacular but it was very good-a solid 4/5 You need to pay at the register (or maybe we did because of our large group). Service was good. They were busy and the one server was running. She was able to get food to our table quickly. I had to wait a couple of minutes for a box but it was certainly not a big deal. It was a small room and there was little in the way of decor. 3.5/5 I will definitely return to Ma Lupe's. I saw someone with the Coctel de Camarones and it looked so good, I would want to try that. My dilemma is the Caldo de Res also looked delicious so I want to try that. I guess the solution is to come back a couple of times!

Chorizo con papas Ma Lupa's Burritos

Total rip-off! I asked for a chorizo con papas burrito. I got burnt chorizo with frozen fries.

Today I returned to the wonderful D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer in El Centro where my epic hiking…read moreexpedition ended in failure, disappointment, and embarrassment a few weeks ago. I intended to travel the entire 2,600-mile length of the Pacific Crest Trail, but my adventure unceremoniously ended in El Centro under a tree about 60 miles east of my starting point. The paramedics told me that hiking is not for everyone. After a desperate two weeks of hiking with little food and water through BLM land tracks, old service roads, and desert washes, as best I can recall, I finally set up camp in El Centro under a farmer's tree near his washing line. Soon after the farmer called the police about my campfire, the authorities and my ex-wife found me in a state of delerium hosting a tea party under a large avocado tree wearing the farmer's wife's plus size nightgown while serving "cups of chai tea" to a sizable pile of rotten avocados and a rusty shovel that I thought was "Jan" from those Toyota commercials. My first real meal after being found by the authorities and my ex-wife was at D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer. D'Poly was the perfect welcome back to civilization as it has a spectacular menu full of delicious Mexican cuisine like street tacos, flautas, sopes and empanadas. The Lineman burrito is my absolute favorite. And they have a wonderful breakfast menu! It's fast casual dining, but it has a sort of classic and moody vibe that gives off a more upscale feel. Love it! A wonderful place to break free of your delusions. My ex-wife tried to tell me that hiking is not for everyone. Thankfully, the paramedics found my emergency contact list and phoned my ex-wife who showed up and broke me out of my stupor by making me drop my emotional support avocado, taking me by the shoulders and shaking me vigorously while yelling "it's over, it's over!" Ironically, that was the same way she told me we were getting divorced. I'm not a quitter, so it takes a while for me to give up. I've since tried many items on the D'Poly menu and everything is exceptional, though I do avoid adding avocado. It's just too soon. Thank you D'Poly Taco Grill and Beer! Five stars.

We came into town for an event and this restaurant was recommended to us for the "vibes" lol. The food was pretty good, but you can definitely tell that people come more for the vibes. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty with only about two tables of customers. Despite that, we were not greeted at the door and no one acknowledged us. We were left standing there trying to figure out if we were supposed to wait to be seated or seat ourselves, which already set a negative tone for the visit. That lack of attention ended up foreshadowing the rest of the service. After we were seated, everyone else at our table eventually received their food except me. When we were finally able to get the waitress's attention to ask about my order, she realized that my plate had been given to another table. By that point, I had already been waiting around 25 minutes, and I was on a limited lunch break, so the delay was extremely frustrating. To make matters worse, when it came time to pay, I was charged more than what I had actually ordered. At that point, I was so disappointed and pressed for time that I did not even bother disputing it and just wanted to leave. I want to note that this experience occurred at the Antojitos on Main Street location, not the Desert Gardens location. I truly hope management can address these issues, because first impressions matter, and this visit left a lot to be desired.

Still looking for a great Mexican restaurant in the Imperial Valley!…read more Someone suggested Flautas and Sopes in El Centro and my first impression when I saw their YELP site was to get there asap! The cashier was welcoming and the line wasn't too long and was able to order quickly. I ordered three #1's which is basically the works. I waited for a bit and my order was ready in about 10 minutes. I had 10 miles to drive so I floored it and unpacked the food for the festivities to begin. There was plenty of salsa that was packed with the orders so I decided to start dipping with the flautas. Instead of heavenly bliss I encountered bland no man land! They were basically hard cardboard and the salsa was equivalent to watered down tomato sauce. But I still had the tostada, sope and a machaca taco, there was still some hope. Unfortunately the tostada and the sope were dead, lifeless and tasteless. The only thing barely edible was the machaca taco: barely! All the life and excitement was sucked out of the space and left me feeling as though I had just been robbed! My suggestions to Flautas and Sopes is to either close or start all over again. Based on my experience, now ai know why Taco Bell and Del Taco might ring the right bell for people! At least you know what to expect!
