37. Shanghai-Style Lo Mein and 2. Pork Dumplings
Anixa P.

Noodles 8.5/10. Wish it had more sauce. And the fried pork dumplings are a 10/10! Very flavorful in the inside and juicy. I love the chili oil paired with the pork dumplings. Service: 8/10 they take a while (I ordered thru yelp pickup) Ambiance: it's a nice interior and vibe. Just briefly went in to pick up my food. I just order the pork dumplings when I come to this place. I want to try their other dumplings/buns.

37. Shanghai-Style Lo Mein $14.75

I got a delivery order from M Shanghai. The food I order were 59. Shredded Beef with Chili pepper $20.25 and 37. Shanghai-Style Lo Main with pork $14.75 For Chinese restaurant and the quality of food compare to the price I feel it is a bit too high. The taste of food is okay I like shredded beef but not crazy about Lo-main. Because of the price point plus the taste, I'm not sure if I want to order from this place again.

2. Pork Dumplings 49. The Amazing Salt and Chili Pepper Shrimp

Would do 2.5 stars if a could. Not work the money. The Amazing Salt and Pepper Shrimp - was not amazing. The shrimp were small. Some were soggy. There was a breading falling off. Was $30 with brown rice. The fried pork dumplings were a bit tough. The mixed vegetable platter. $20. Was like flavorless boiled vegetables. Wanted to like this place but couldn't.

Seafood dumplings. Small, not much dough, fishy flavor.

Tonight I decided to splurge and pay double then I ever spend on mu shoo pork - they charge $18 for this dish and call it "fabulous mu shu." It's the worst I have ever had in my life. It's just plain flavorless cabbage. A couple of pieces of mushroom and flavorless pork mixed in. How could they call this fabulous and charge $18?!

I was really feeling Chinese food the other night so decided to give this place a try since sit was nearby. The place was pretty empty, but we decided to give it a try anyways. Sadly, the food was not very good, as I've cooked similar dishes at home that I think tasted better.

I'm so surprised, given the 4+ star rating, how bad this food was…read more The hot and sour soup just tasted like black pepper - which is nothing like what hot and sour soup is supposed to taste like. Also, it didn't come with any soup noodles. The scallion pancakes were very thick, and also tasted off. The 1 inch sauce container was only 1/4 filled and the sauce was extremely saucy. The general tso sauce was super thick, gooey and gelatinous, and the fried rice that came with it tasted more like steamed white rice with soy sauce than anything fried. I try Chinese take-out from various spots throughout southern Brooklyn at least 2-3 times a month, and this was really disappointing.

Coming from Queens, where there's a plethora of popular Shanghainese places, I had lower…read moreexpectation for Liu's Shanghai especially for their soup dumplings. We arrived on a Saturday night around 6pm and it was packed; there were two parties ahead of us so we opted to put our name down and wait approximately 15-20, which I thought was pretty reasonable. They arrange the tables to optimize space for the following parties, so you might just get lucky with the seating arrangements. As most Chinese establishments, service was fast-paced, but we never felt rushed at any point of the meal despite the hustle and bustle. We ordered a few items for our party of 4 to share: 1. SCALLOP AND PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS: Surprisingly was a fan of this. There were big chunks of scallops in the meat. Gave the meat a bit of a bounce, but wasn't tough or chewy either. Normally would order crab at most soup dumpling spots, but scallop was new to me. Would get this again. 2. PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS: I commend them for an actual juicy and soupy filling. The pork was seasoned well and we had a whole spoonful of soup from each dumpling. The skin was a little thick for my liking. My judgment of soup dumpling is usually determined by the skin and this one didn't exactly meet the criteria. 3. FRIED WONTONS IN PEANUT AND HOT SAUCE: The star of the show! This was the dish that everyone seems to rave about and what we actually came for. The wontons were fried to a perfect crisp; they were actually crunchy and maintained that despite being dredged in sauce. I felt like there was a bit of a sugary caramelization to it, which balanced out the salty component of the dish. This whole dish encompassed every category in the flavor and texture department. 4. BEEF IN BLACK PEPPER SAUCE: I could've done without this tbh. There were a lot of onions in this, which I have no complaint about, but I wasn't trying to get my money's worth of onions here LOL. Black pepper sauce wasn't anything special either. I actually forgot that it was black pepper sauce because it wasn't peppery enough. 5. SHANGHAI RICE CAKES: The rice cakes had a pleasant chew to it and the sauce coated it evenly. I wish the rice cakes had a little more char to it so it would be more fragrant. Good, but not life changing. Overall a pleasant experience and certainly met expectations. There were some dishes that I liked more than others and some that I could do without. Probs wouldn't make the trip here frequently, but the wontons are definitely worth the trip!

I tried the wontons in spicy peanut sauce. It was different because I'm use to chili wontons. The spicy peanut sauce wasn't spicy. The peanut sauce itself is pretty thick, so I would recommend dipping it in the accompanying dipping sauce to balance the flavors. I would try the spicy peanut wontons again. I also tried the pork soup dumplings, which took some time to cook. It arrives very hot, so give it some time to cool off, maybe 5-10 minutes. The soup dumplings were mid, maybe I would try the truffle soup dumplings if I came back. I love how the dumplings are made in house

It is a chaotic mess for the volume they are trying to do. It's not about adding more manpower, it's about streamlining. Tables are sitting empty while people are on the waitlist (not due to reservations), orders are going to the wrong tables, to-go orders are in disarray and have to be re-verified on multiple orders, and it takes a long time to get some water. The Yelp waitlist is useless here - wait was supposed to be 5-10 minutes and it turned into almost 40. All this could have been avoided with more planning, better organization, and training. Kitchen staff doing their job well. Front of house needs work.

They're definitely one of the best I've had. Even their scallion pancakes are good. Thin and crispy with enough substance to hold its shape after a soy sauce dunk. We also ordered the salt and pepper squid, the Szechuan style bean curd (basically mapo tofu), and the watercress with enoki mushrooms. Everything was very delicious. Service however, was just adequate. But it's what you would expect from a delicious Chinese restaurant. The waitstaff will get you what you want when you ask it, but clearly doesn't want to be there. Also the place is cash only. But there's a reason they're always busy on the weekends, this place is good.

Each soup dumpling came in its own separate plastic cup (if you've ordered these before, you know how easily they can arrive broken with soup everywhere).
