I love the M Hair Salon. Very friendly, amazing cuts and fair prices. I won't go anywhere else... as soon as I'm allowed to go anywhere at all. Please let hair salons open again, I'm starting to look like more of an ape by the day. Thank-you Michelle! read more

I was a walk-in, believing I would receive a great, layered haircut because my daughter had recently had a cut done by the owner of the establishment, but this was not the case. I showed the stylist, being the owner, three photos of related layered hairstyles I wanted. She asked how short I wanted my hair, and I showed her where on my collarbone. I also said that it was not necessary to wash my hair, as I had done that, and a wet down would be fine. She said he got it and proceeded to use thinning shears on my hair. She said I had a lot of hair, which, had she wet it down, it would have been easier for her to see, but she insisted that it didn't matter that she could do a dryer cut just as well as a wet cut. I trusted her ability because she was the owner. Anyway, she dragged and pulled those thinning shears through my hair, not shaping or making sure there was a hair connection throughout my head. I paid $69.00 to have my hair completely trashed. The dragging of the shears through my hair damaged the hair cuticles, leaving the longer hairs fuzzy. The finish style turned out to be a thin shoulder-length style with a frizzy halo. It was the worst hair experience I have ever had. I had to have another hair professional clean up the frizz. I would not even give M one star. read more

Had a great experience--really liked my cut and shave! The attention to detail and service were top-notch. Definitely recommend.

Great experience overall, all of the staff were extremely friendly and made me feel at home from the minute I walked in. I came in with a picture because I wanted to go pretty short and the owner kindly gave me a bunch of suggestions for how to adjust the cut so it would look best for my face shape while still adhering to the picture I showed and listening to my request. She was extremely helpful and friendly, and so was the guy that cut my hair (sorry I can't remember his name). And most importantly the haircut was excellent, as well, all of the staff showed superior knowledge of Asian hair texture and how to manage it well. Overall I would definitely recommend going here. Oh! And also the price point was surprisingly low with zero up-charges so that was probably the highlight! read more

Love it. I've got a haircut and digital perm. I brought a photo of a TV star's hairdo and Michelle made it exactly the same. The price was great (surprisingly good price compare to any other hair salons around). The service was also great. They also use Kevin Murphy products. Can't complain anything about this place. I am happy to finally find a good hair salon in Edmonton. read more

I absolutely love this place! These ladies are so kind and so skilled, and I always leave looking great and feeling cared for. Plus their prices are so reasonable, and they carry only the best hair products on the market. They've made a loyal customer out of me. Thanks M! read more

I'm so torn about this place. I haven't had a "bad" experience, but mediocre. It's literally half a block from my house. I guess I go there for the convenience more than anything. Just the other day I went in for a trim, and to get my undercut fixed up because I had family event on the weekend and I was feeling a bit shaggy. Maria, the friendly owner, squeezed me in last minute, and cut my hair for me (which she usually does). She takes her time and does a good job, but I sure didn't expect to pay over $50 for a buzz of my undercut, and a trim of my long hair. Then she proceeds to tell me that I should have gotten a better color (which is funny, because the color I got done was from my cousin who is the director of her own salon, and constantly in training programs, and always learning). I took those comments with a grain of salt. Like I said, I am just really torn about this place. read more

All I can say is that I could not recognize my own-self when I walked out of that salon. My stylist knew exactly what I needed, was extremely ethical, polite, knowledgeable, very pleasant, and very very detail oriented. I would recommend this salon with my eyes closed to any one because it has been one of my best experiences, and haircuts in the longest time in Edmonton. The only haircuts that can ever match up that service has been in some of those very high end salons in New York, Los Angeles, California, and some times in Cancun Mexico. Price wise is totally fair. They deserve every last penny spent there because they offer an amazing service. Kudos to this salon. read more

Absolutely the worst hair salon I've been too, asked for blonde highlights the lady slapped on a bunch of bleach until it burned my scalp I was trying to trust the process but after this horrible experience was over I got charged 400 $ don't go here it's f***ing ridiculous. It fried my beautiful hair and I had to cut it all off my hair has never been the same. read more

I tried this salon because I bought a Groupon ($69 for cut, conditioning treatment, and partial foils). The stylist was friendly enough and the salon décor was basic but okay (although bathroom sink was dirty). I really wanted to like the salon, stylist and service, but unfortunately it did not go very well. The highlights were alright, but I stressed that I wanted natural looking and they're quite streaky. I had even brought photos as examples. It also took quite a long time because when she first washed the colour out she felt they were too golden and so used a toner on my hair. The conditioning treatment was nice, but took way too long. The stylist put me under the dryer for at least 30 min as she wasn't timing it. By the time she started cutting my hair I'd been there for two hours, and was really antsy (I hadn't had lunch, was on break from work, and had told her repeatedly I felt it was taking too long). The first round of the haircut (I have thick, straight, shoulder-length hair) ended up really blunt, so I asked her to fix it according to the photos I'd brought in. She worked through the ends to try and fix it, but it does not look good - there are pieces that are 2 inches longer than others and it's "chunky". I wasn't happy at the end of the cut, but by then I'd been there for 3 hours and had to leave. Over the past few days I've tried to see if it will 'settle' but it won't. I will not be going back, and I'll never buy a Groupon for hair services again. Lesson learned! read more

This hair salon is great for students since they give out discounts to students. I have always loved how my hair has turned out in the visits I have gone to. This has become my new pace because I love their environment and how they always give you what you want for a good price. read more

I had made my appointment last Tuesday for this Saturday August 2 at 4:15 and at 11:00 am on Saturday August 2, 2014 my hair stylist called and said she had to cancel they over booked her. I was extremely upset as I hadn't been able to book because she was busy the past two weekends so I told her I would call her back and rebook (when I cooled off a bit). To my surprise I was talking to my friend today (Sunday August 3, 2014) and she had got a hair cut from the exact hair stylist on Saturday August 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM but she didn't have an appointment she just walked in. Beyond disappointed in the customer satisfaction of this place and will not be going back so unreliable. read more

I too had a bad experience with this salon and DO not recommend them. My experience was very much like the other two reviews, but I have blonde hair and when I told the stylist the blonding was burning my hair, they said it was "ok". The cut and blonding looked OK when done, but three days later my hair turned orange. I tried to call to no success. read more

I tried this salon because I purchased a Groupon for $99 for full foils, a cut, a conditioning treatment, and style. I arrived for my appointment at 10 o'clock and was offered a hot beverage (It turns out the hot water wasn't working but I don't take that into account because it's not important to me). My hairdresser was a very nice young woman. My Groupon was for full foils but she informed me since I had quite a bit of regrowth that it would be better if I got a root touch up and a tone. I was leery of this because I do like a multidimensional look, But I let her go ahead with it. I also stressed to her that I like a very ash blonde with no brass tones at all and I'm very picky about this. All treatments went fine, When we were done I was satisfied with the cut but unhappy with the color as it was quite brassy in patches and not very well blended. My real problem came when I went to pay and the owner Informed me that substitutions on a Groupon are an extra $20, I had a problem with this Because a root touch up is a much cheaper treatment then the foils I was supposed to receive. I also paid 10 or 20$ for tax or something (Which I believe is commonplace with Groupons). I did tip my hairdresser $25 or 35$ (I can't remember I just know I ended up paying an extra 65). Paying that extra $65 on top of my Groupon meant using my Groupon actually made it MORE expensive than just paying for my services in full. I went back a week later to have my color corrected, She did some fine low lights and retoned the color, It does look much better and I think I will live with it until my next haircut but I'm still not 100% percent satisfied. There are still some strange yellowy spots that I have to cover by parting my hair differently. Overall it's a decent place, they are very nice but its not anything fancy. Regular prices are a little bit expensive for the environment they provide (45 and up for a ladies cut and 70 and up for full highlights). Unfortunately, because I've been looking for a great hairdresser i can stick to for sometime, i would not go back. I will fork out extra money and only trust my hair to the "blonde experts" from now on. read more

Purchased a coupon for M Salon, and as I haven't had much luck wit other salons in the past I wasn't very optimistic. However, the staff was so polite and accommodating, Maria was extremely knowledgeable and definitely knew what she was doing! I love my hair cut, one of the best I've had, and the highlights she did look great. I would definitely go back! read more
