When we made the decision to get a new AC unit, the sales rep came out and gave us a quote. After the install was just about finished, we found out that it was misrepresented. When the sales rep was called, he made up his own version of what happened. Bottom line is that it is not enough to read the fine print, you need to repeat it out loud to the sales people, and then confirm, again out loud, to the technicians that are doing the installation. It would be nice if the customer was always right, but I am afraid those days are long gone. read more

I initially called to receive a quote for duct work and played a little bit of phone tag with Joe Allen. Finally, I reached him late in the week and made an appt for Mon morning between 0730 and 0800. At 0810 on Monday morning, I called the office, said no one had made it out yet, and the woman (Lisa, I think?) said she would contact whoever was supposed to be coming out and call me back. She called back within about five min but said the person wasn't able to make it out because "something came up." I told her it would have been nice had they given me some advance notice since I was staying home from work. Finally, she told me Joe would call me back later in the day to reschedule -- never happened. read more

If you like feeling dirty and taken advantage of then this is the right plumber for you. I contacted M E Flow to replace an expansion tank and a pressure regulator valve that were identified on a home inspection report. The parts retail for about $150 (on the high side). The technician quoted a price of $640 dollars for the work. When I questioned the high cost relative to parts he informed me that the job was to take a few hours as justification for the high price. I reluctantly agreed when I was faced with their $75 dollar fee if I didn't elect to have the service done. An hour after agreeing to the job he was walking out the door. When I confronted him about how he just told me it was multiple hour job he then pulls out his 'flat rate book' to explain they don't use hours its all flat rate. It was a complete bait and switch. They used hours as justification for the job cost and then turn around and say hours have nothing to do with their pricing. I reached out to the company to explain my frustration and my feeling of being taken advantage of with their bait and switch sales tactics to which they toted the company line of we are fixed rate and have been for years we are very sorry the technician made it sound like our rates were based on hours. You agreed to the price prior to the work, what does it matter if only took 15 minutes. The fact that the technician lied about the time the job would take in order to secure a signature to perform the work did not seem to phase the manager I spoke with. Basically I just paid $150 for parts and $490 for an hour of this technician's time. I called 2 other plumbers in the NOVA area and was quoted $395 and $425 for the exact same work. Avoid this company unless you like wasting money. read more

Although their prices are slightly higher than a big box store (Costco), I have found their technicians to always be polite and professional. Today's service call was the notification that my heat pump was on its last legs. The technician (Rick) did a great job of explaining our options and never pressured me to make a purchase. Although I may not wind up purchasing the heat pump fix from ME flow, I will continue to use them as my service company. I'll pay slightly more for excellent service. (I'd give ME Flow 5 starts, but I have to take into account the price of a full heat pump system. ME Flow can't compete just on cost alone.) read more

Two years ago, ME Flow replaced the indoor portion of our HVAC system, as well as installing a whole house humidifier. They were prompt, courteous, and extremely professional. The install job was done neatly, and despite the amount of work needed to be done, when the job was done, you could never tell workers had been in and out of the house. Last week, when the outside unit finally quit, the service person was out the next day. I was told someone would be there at 8am, as I was on "first call". The service person arrived at 7:35. Determining the unit needed to be replaced, I scheduled it for a Monday morning, and as promised, they arrived on time. Installation was professional, neat and prompt. I do not hesitate to recommend ME Flow, in fact I have to my coworkers, who have also found them to be fantastic. read more

I used ME Flow last year to service a faulty air conditioner and recently used them again to replace a hot water heater. On both occassions they disptched a service technician to my house within two hours of my call. The A/C only needed a capacitor replacement. They could have told us something worse, but their honesty gave us reason to use them again. The hot water heater was replaced quickly and without incident. They are a good contractor. read more

There was also a small issue with financing which led to a delay in charging us - I was okay with this - but it did mean another quick visit with Glen. As a homeowner and landlord I have dealt with a number of service providers, and this has been one of the better experiences I've had. I can't give them 5 stars because of the hiccups we had; I'm a hard ass like that. I have read the nice comments about ME Flow here, but I don't think most people realize just how much the average HVAC repair company rips them off, they're just so happy to have their problem fixed they don't realize they are being fleeced. My experience is, they charge a fortune to fix simple problems, and constantly try to upsell you on even more outrageous equipment upgrades. ME Flow is a perfect example of the average HVAC repair company. I called ME Flow for a rental property of mine when the tenant reported no heat. Never used them before, but I needed someone out in an emergency. They arrived in a timely manner. The technician, after charging $89 for the service call told me I need a new thermostat for $199 and a new ignitor for $99. I was suspicious so I replaced the thermostat myself for $30 in about 10 minutes and still no heat. Then I discovered that it was just dead batteries that was the problem. I came to realize that even the most inexperienced, green technician should know to check batteries first., and the technician had made a point of telling me how experienced he was, so it was obvious that the technician had tried to rip me off. I didn't need the ignitor either, and I discovered that these are $14 on the internet. The tech's supervisor refused to talk to me and knew all the ins and outs on how to make the credit card charge stick. I don't feel these people are honest and I will not be using them again, and I recommend that anyone else stay far away from them. read more

My water heater decided to die and ME Flow came out and gave me an estimate, found out how much it was and I wanted to talk to some friends i know before I made a decision, Instead of Grant, one of the plumbers, charging me a fee for taking a look, he waived the fee knowing that the cost to replace this piece of equipment can get expensive. That won the business for them, they are not just out to get people's money but want to help. I called them Monday morning and Dan, another plumber came out and replace the water heater same day, very nice guy and make sure that everything was cleaned up after the install. We had ME Flow come out to fix a clogged kitchen sink that was backing up into the dishwasher. A plumber came by as scheduled and snaked our sink for $245. A few days later--and without our putting anything down that sink and disposal--the same problem recurred. We called back to see if someone could come out and fix it again at a reduced price since they had just been out to fix the same problem but they indicated over the phone that they could not guarantee they would fix what should have already been fixed without charging that same $245 flat fee again. The representative I spoke with on the phone acted like I was imposing on them by asking they come out to do the job correctly, which I found odd and frankly it put me off. Their excuse was that our pipes were old and so as a matter of practice they did not provide warranties for servicing these, which I don't buy: that sink worked fine for the first few weeks in that house and if it had been fixed properly the first time it would still be working a few short days later, regardless of the age of the pipes. We don't have time to waste on poor customer service so we decided to go with a smaller business with more accountability for taking ownership of their work. He explained the underlying problem we had: that the pipes under the sink were sitting too low to make a straight line to the master pipe in the wall (something ME Flow's technician never said), causing water to sit too high within the pipes (and thus the tube to the dishwasher). He helped us fix the overflow in the near term and gave us something to think about fixing in the longer term. He understood the underlying causes of our problem rather than just charging $245 to mindlessly snake a pipe without any understanding of what is going on. read more

The salesman came to the house was very professional, even wore little booties. He did not try to sell me anything I did not want and made good suggestions based on my situation. Two men came to the home, the younger of the two looked like he was 15, he was older but very smart and seemed to really know his stuff. I guess it's no surprise when central AC system fail during a heat wave. This is what happened to us with a 9 year old Carrier unit. Doing comparison shopping while sweltering isn't the best circumstance, but I found that some providers are expensive and slow, while others are less expensive and slow. M.E. Flow's service representative came to our house about a half day after I called. He reviewed the options and we settled on an American Standard machine which had a very high rating without being the most expensive. The installers came two days later (keep in mind these fellows are in overdrive when its hot). I couldn't have been more satisfied with such an excellent response. My advice is "go with the Flow." Updated review on the pricing and service aspects. I did get great customer service on the day of the service call, but noticed on my bill a charge that actually wasn't part of the service, but instead was a service contract for the next year. I called customer service immediately after seeing this, and they said that they would remove it. It was after that positive experience that I wrote my initial review. I've since received a call saying that if I don't sign up for the service agreement, they'll have to charge a service fee that was waived at the time of the call, and that the service fee is more expensive than the service agreement. For the following reasons, this feels a little bit like a scam: (1) when I called to make the appointment, I had been told that the service fee would be waived if I went ahead with service, (2) the technician who showed up had not explained that the service agreement was necessary for the waiver, and (3) when I called to cancel the agreement, customer service made no mention that the cost of the services would go up if I cancelled. Because of this subsequent experience, I would have to say that the cost is not as reasonable as it initially seemed and that customer service is also not a great (since they appear to be inconsistent in what they disclose to customers). read more

My furnace broke in late December 2016, and I called M.E. Flow to repair it because I had a service maintenance contract with M.E. Flow. The repair person came twice but could not repair the furnace, and the repair person told me I needed to buy a new one. M.E. Flow sent a "Comfort Advisor" to my house on 12/19/16 to present me options to purchase a new furnace, which I did at a price of $4687. They installed the new furnace the next day (12/20), but had to cut a huge hole in my living room wall because the installer messed up installing the control unit and lost the wire. They sent someone out about 2 weeks later to finally fix the hole, and I had to actually ask the person to repaint over the repair, which seemed like a no-brainer to me but is indicative of the quality of this company's work. But that was just the beginning of this debacle. When they installed the new furnace, the installation person failed to seal one of the elbow pipes attached to the unit properly, which resulted in a slow-but-steady drip from the unit onto my basement floor. None of the safety sensors detected this leak and were not actually functioning, so the water pooled under my basement stairs and eventually seeped into the walls and hardwood floor surrounding the furnace closet. This leak destroyed my basement floor and I had to hire a water remediation company to dry out the basement. Once it was dry, I had to hire a company to rip up and replace 1050 square feet of engineered hardwood flooring, demolish and replace bookshelves, walls, etc., all due to the water damage caused by the $4687 new furnace that M.E. had just sold me and installed. When I called M.E. Flow to repair the leak, the technician told me "the seal didn't take" on the new pipe, but then filled out the repair invoice and labeled it as a "pre-existing" condition, presumably to avoid liability for the damage caused by the horrible installation job. M.E. Flow denied any responsibility for the damages, and left me on my own. This furnace leak caused so much damage that I had made a claim with my insurance company in the amount of $27,271.37 for all the water remediation and repairs. But I have a $5000 deductible so I had to pay out of pocket just because I used M.E. Flow, M.E. Flow didn't install the furnace correctly, then refused to stand behind the work of their installers. 3 months later, I am still putting my basement back together. I would have been better off hiring another company to just repair my old furnace, since I relied on M.E. Flow to install it correctly and they have made me pay the price for their terrible work. M.E. Flow has been sending me emails to tell me I need to schedule my Spring HVAC inspection, which was pre-paid under my annual service contract. Obviously, I would never trust the company that caused my basement to be destroyed because of the incompetence of their technicians to continue to inspect the unit they couldn't even install correctly. So, I called M.E. Flow and asked for them to just send me a refund of whatever I pre-paid for the inspection and the customer service representative told me that there are no refunds because that is their policy. She said she would ask her service manager to make an exception, and he would call me back if they would allow a refund. I would never recommend M.E. Flow to anyone, particularly because they make you sign a contract that allows them to escape liability for situations like mine--where the negligence or incompetence of their technicians has cost me thousands of dollars and weeks of inconvenience, stress and hassle dealing with an unwanted basement remodeling job I didn't want. I feel like I was punished for using M.E. Flow. I think companies like M.E. Flow that refuse to stand behind their work and accept responsibility for the damage they cause to their customers do not deserve anyone's hard-earned money. read more

If you like high pressure sales tactics, you will like ME Flow. the tech was nice enough, but the dispatch office was very aggressive and rude. I feel like they ripped me off for the work that was performed and I vastly overpaid. They do not offer free estimates, or apply the initial visit charge of $69 to work that they perform. Basically, they come out, give you an inflated price for the work, and then you either pay it, or lose your $69 and the time. I will not use them again. I can not say that any other plumber is better, but this experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

ME Flow replaced the blower motor on my furnace in January 2009 for $550. 2 years later it fails. Inspection by another company says "Whoever put this replacement motor in used one that was too small." ME Flow grabbed what they had on the truck rather than getting the correct part. Estimate for a new motor is $800 or replace the furnace for $3000. Who do you believe? read more

So disappointed in M.E. Flow. My husband and I have a condo in Leesburg, VA and used their services before. This time, we needed a new water heater tank to be replaced. This specific model heats up the water as well as provides hot air for the house, keeping it warm. They were the providers for the specific brand and model I needed, and provided me with a fair price. Once they installed the tank, there was no heat, just hot water. I called them, and a technician went to the condo next morning. He said that it was just some air bubble inside the pipe, and assured us that he had solved the problem. Several hours later, the thermostat kept showing the temperature inside the condo dropping. We called M.E. Flow again. They sent a technician for the second time, one day later. The second technician told the tenant that there was no way the previous technician had fixed the problem, since there was a plumbing issue and they had to send a plumber to the condo. There was no plumber available that day, so we waited the next day for someone to show up. No one called. When I called the office next afternoon, someone told me that they needed to order a part and it would be most likely available for installation 2 days later. Still no heat, and the condo unit was already very cold. The tenant had to sleep at her friend's house, or keep the fireplace on day and night as an attempt to try and heat the place up, without much success. Today, they called our tenant to let her know that if the part does not arrive by tomorrow "early enough", they will only install it the next day. My husband and I called multiple times to speak with the Service Manager with no success. We spent over 4 thousand dollars with them and we cannot get anyone to keep ups properly informed, expedite the process, or provide us with a reasonable solution for the sake of it (e.g. offer space heaters temporarily). Do I have to remind them that the temperature at night drops to 33F?? The lack of responsiveness gives out a really bad impression. Update: My husband got it touch with Frank, the Service Manager, who went above and beyond to ensure that we got the right part installed and everything worked properly. After waiting for the part order to come in and realizing that it was the wrong one, he drove to the supplier to make sure to correct the issue. If he had not driven, our Tenant would still be without heat. We have used M.E. Flow several times before and this is the first time that we have had an issue. The technicians are always professional and courteous, and the company has a fair price. We are hoping that this is just a one time issue and that M.E. Flow uses this situation to improve their responsiveness and creativity to provide solutions when problems arise. read more

I had been a customer of ME Flow for a very long time. Twice before they were not able to keep their scheduled appointments within the scheduled time. Today, when I called them an hour before their scheduled window for an ETA, their service reps twice said 'oh we have other jobs of importance' we will come to you later! One said the tech could be there by 5 pm. I asked them why my service was less important and treating my contract differently. They said that they had too many emergency calls. I said in that case you should hire more people being summer and not push me out. The rep then promised to have the service manager call me. Instead a dispatcher calls and spelled his name for me as S-a-d-a-t and ignoring my need to to talk with a service manager, giggles during the call about my frustration. I ask to be talking to the Service Manager. The General Manager comes on the line. I remind him about the service contract and why they pushed me out. Instead he argues about his service time and decides to remove me as a customer. Which is fine, but I asked for my money back. What a disgusting piece of service now. I have used M.E. Flow for a wide range of issues the past 5 years in my 1 bedroom condo- including a full replacement of my HVAC, hot water heater, and disposal. The bottom line is I trust them, they get the job done and will stand behind their work. It's not easy being a company like ME Flow with the wide range of issues they service and the number of employees they have- it won't always be perfect, no company that relies on people is, but the point is that the company as a whole cares and ultimately they make it right. My specific example is my HVAC unit. At 15 years old, the unit had rusted to the point that it needed to be replaced- this was the summer of 2015. I called ME Flow and a great representative came to my place and worked up a replacement quote and instilled confidence. They did the job and it was out of mind until last summer (2 years later), when my tenant mentioned that the unit was making odd sounds. I scheduled a ME Flow rep to come check it out and they found it was low on coolant and probably had a leak. Admittedly I was a little frustrated at first because I was being charged for these services and I felt that the unit shouldn't be having issues at 2 years- technically though, the warranty was only for one year. I reached out to the original replacement rep who connected me with a general manager and the bottom line is they replaced a leaking coil for free. They did this because they understood the big picture and cared about their reputation- understanding that from my (the customer) perspective, ME Flow owned the whole HVAC replacement job, even though technically they were just installing a specific product that they helped me purchase. ME Flow could have taken a hard line and told me I was out of luck and needed to pay for everything since the warranty had expired- but what separates them is that they instead did the right thing. It's good to be able to rely on a company like that so that you never have to question who you're going to call when something comes up. read more

This company is terrible. They lie right to your face, and will tell you your warranty parts aren't available and try to get you to buy parts they happen to have on their truck. I had to fight with them like crazy and finally called the manufacturer, American Standard who assured me they can use any part and the American Standard Regional manager interceded on my behalf and threatened to rescind their license agreement to sell their brand if they didn't provide warranty service. Another warranty issue took them a month to fix. While he was there, I asked their service man checking and filling the Freon would incur a service charge beyond what the Freon costs, he lied directly to my face and told me he would only charge for the Freon used. The task took less than 10 minutes and he charged me 95.65 Diagnostic charge, plus $99 for the Freon. Stay away from this company. read more

Have a Condo in Reston. They came by to look at water heater. Quote states $3400. Nothing about what is wrong with current tank or what brand or model they would use to replace the tank. I called them to find out about what is included with $3400 what is brand how much the tank costs by itself what is model number they are using to replace with that quote. They acted like I was being unreasonable for wanting more information. Very poor communication and customer service. read more

We have always had a good experience with M.E. Flow. We were away on vacation and our upstairs unit stopped working. We came home to over 100 degrees in our bedrooms. M.E. Flow sent out the technician, HENRY the very next morning and he did a super job! He quickly assessed the problem, fixed it and all the while was so nice, personable and very informative. I appreciate the standard reply from Heidi at MEFlow. However, had I called them and they came out, they most likely would have addressed the problem the same way. They had an opportunity to fix the problem the first time around and didn't go the distance to repair the root of the problem. Actually I did call ME Flow as well as the other plumbing service. The other plumbing service returned my call on a Sunday and asked if I was OK until Monday or did I need her to come out on Sunday. We then scheduled a time for Monday. Monday morning I cancelled the appt. with MEFlow. I'm sorry but I still feel that I paid double to have my plumbing problem corrected and would like some sort of restitution. read more

I used M.E. Flow for a very simple plumbing job in order to gauge their prices. The work was very simple (required no new parts, just tightening existing plumbing connections). This very basic job cost twice as much as the competitors I have used. The only reason I went with them this one time (and one time only) is that I was already on the hook to pay them $75 for showing up to determine the issue (even though my property manager had already done so). Normally, I would suggest shopping around for the best price. But in this case, because of the $75 you are on the line to pay just for them to show up, I would recommend skipping them completely. read more

So disappointed in the level of service. I was somewhat uncomfortable around the technicians as they are simply promoting such a poor product. I had the company out to fix the smell of gas under my range cooktop. They pulled and refitted the hoses charged me a few hundred dollars and smell was still present. Called back and the next tech came out to advise he did not smell gas although he, nor the other tech use a gas detector, we could still smell. I had them order a new regulator. I waited two weeks, then i called back asking for the status of my regulator, they said they had it and would send someone out within one hour. Three hours later i had to call back and reschedule for first appointment the next morning. The next morning i was greeted with a new technician who said it would cost $209 to install. I looked up the part it was a $25 part. I turned them away. This type of service and inconsistency is frustrating. I would not recommend this group to anyone. read more

Terrible Service. I had to reschedule my initial appointment. Then had to wait 5 weeks for the next. It was scheduled between 12 and 4 pm. I called the previous day at 8 am to confirm. They did. The appointment day I called at 2pm and confirmed again. "He will definitely be there BY 4". At 3:55 received a call stating there technician was enroute. At 430 I called again. We don't schedule 12-4, we schedule 12 and after. He should be there. 5 hours waiting for them not to show. Useless. read more
