Called last Monday to see if I could get someone out to check out my leaking unit. Left a message, didn't hear anything from them. Called again Wednesday and finally got a return call. I told him it was likely a blocked condenser drain pipe and he agreed to come on Thursday between 3-4. No one showed up, and when I called their number again, it now says, "The person you are trying to reach has not set up their mailbox yet. Please call again later." Until I hear back from them, 1 star for a no show and lack of communication. read more

This company was amazing, we left them a Yelp message at 1 am when our AC stopped working and at 7 am I got a call back. He was here by 3 pm and fixed our compressor. A year ago another large company tried to tell us it was time to replace the compressor as it was about to fail and it would be too expensive to fix. So not only did we get it fixed quickly without having to replace the whole thing, we felt they were very honest with us and acted with integrity. What we thought would cost us thousands to get our house cool again turned out to be just a few hundred to replace the capacitor. If the compressor ever does fail, they are the only people I would trust to replace it. read more

I've used Air Efficiency Services (AES) twice and have been totally satisfied both times. First, back in November of 2011 it took some diagnosing to figure out why the gas furnace would not ignite. They tried several solutions, always keeping cost in mind. In the end, a part needed to be ordered. They again showed up at the agreed upon time, fixed the problem and charged a very reasonable fee.Then today, on this cold and snowy day, they again arrived on time for a same day service request. The problem was fixed in 25 minutes. These guys aren't only efficient, effective and cleaver - they're really NICE and considerate - I haven't seen other service providers cover their boots before walking into my house. What kind of service person does not call when the arrive at a house? They came knocked (I was upstairs), and left. Texted me 20 min later. I immediately called them and they said they couldn't come back (Could they have at least texted before they left?). Left me in a bind and obviously didn't care or offer solution other than coming tomorrow. Also I chose them because on the yelp map their office looked about 5 min from my house. Not true or they surely could have come back. Must not have wanted to work that day. read more

Our furnace had been on life support for sometime (it was originally installed in our home in 1981 - 35 years ago!). It broke down for the final time right before we had to go out of town, and right as the weather was about to dip into the teens. Our pipes, plants, and fish were in danger if we left the house for a week without heat. Enter Luis and his team. They came over with less than 24 hours notice, took out our old relic, and put in a new Trane furnace. They were fast, polite, and competent. After we returned from our trip, the furnace's settings needed a little tweaking. Luis came over the same evening after I contacted him and made the adjustment, walking me through what he was doing along the way. They are good people, and I highly recommend them. read more

I love this company! First used them 2 years ago when my new-ish compressor was doing weird stuff. Someone came out right away and he explained everything to me (so apparently dog hair can really do a number on your coil!) and showed me how to do some of the stuff he did- basically saying they are happy to come do it, but why not save myself some money. I really appreciated that! Then, last week the AC just stopped working altogether- this time the problem was with the unit inside the house. DIY-ed what I could, but the problem persisted. Left a voice mail around 8:30pm Monday night and someone called me back at 8am and set up an appointment for later that day. Guys came out and I told them what I did and apologized if I made the problem worse. Their response was that I did the right stuff- and again- why not try to DIY and save yourself some money. Love these people! Anyway- it turned out the furnace motor was shot and half full of water because of the random on/off cycle it was in. They laid out all of my options, including not doing anything, and explained everything really clearly. Ultimately ended up replacing the whole furnace (it was 15 years old). Air Efficiency Services had the correct unit in stock and installed it that day- and at a reasonable price. They are also super clean- they laid down a drop cloth coming in the door and put new shoe covers on every time they came in and out of the house. They also did a great job cleaning up all the muck that came out of the old unit and showed me how everything on the new unit works. If you need HVAC services, these guys are the best! read more

Love this company! I was initially disappointed that the service charge couldn't be credited to the repair, but I called around and lots of companies do it that way. I wasn't happy, but all the other companies that charge that way had mixed reviews. Given the stellar reviews here, I went with them and was not disappointed at alll! They got me a holiday weekend appointment on short notice, arrived when they promised, ID'd the problem immediately, fixed it quickly, showed me how to fix it myself in the future, and provided an all-around excellent customer service experience. Our A/C died one night last month and I was terrified because neither my wife and I are that knowledgeable about it and I knew that it could be incredibly expensive. Air Efficiency was able to come out that next day, gave us honest feedback: our unit was underpowered, but replacing one component should get the job done though. I appreciated there was no attempt to upsell, that they gave honest advice about what made sense, and so far A/C is working great. It was at a very reasonable price as well. read more

My heat stopped working this past Friday and my regular HVAC tech was unresponsive, so I looked on Yelp and Angie's List for a local provider that was open on the weekends. I called Air Efficiency at 8am, received a call back with in 15 minutes and had an appointment for between 1-2pm that afternoon. Luis arrived within that time period. The cable company could learn something from this company. Luis diagnosed the problem and unfortunately didn't have the proper part. He told me another tech would be out within 45 minutes to make the repair. As he said, the other tech Jose showed up and performed the job and within an hour I had heat again. I cannot say enough good things about this company. Both Luis and Jose were extremely polite and professional and I appreciate that they didn't try and gouge me because it was a weekend call. The price was very fair and they honored my 10% off coupon for Angie's List members. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone without hesitation. Our air conditioner was not cooling properly and we assumed it was low on freon. A neighbor recommended Air Efficiency Services due to their great service and quick response. I called Luis in the evening and he returned my call within just a few minutes and was out the next morning. He diagnosed the problem of leaking freon and replaced it right away. This was the day that it was in the high 90's in the DC area. He also provided us an estimate if we wanted to replace the entire unit since it was more than 15 years old and the coils on the unit were also going bad. He did not pressure us to replace the unit and was honest to say that we still had time and he could continue to service the unit as needed until we were ready to make the bigger commitment of replacing the entire unit. We noticed over the next day or two that it was still not cooling properly and then it stopped cooling all together. I called Luis and he again came out very promptly the next morning and identified a piece of the unit that had lost it's charge. He replaced it for a small price and again told us that things like this could continue to happen, but no pressure to replace the unit until we were ready as the smaller items that we will likely need to keep fixing are fairly inexpensive. Luis was incredibly professional (wore shoe covers and handed over his business card before entering our house) and was very quick to respond and fix the problem. We are now enjoying a cool house during this heat wave! read more

We had our new furnace, AC, water heater and home humidifier installed this week. Everything is working wonderfully! I called Luis on January 26th and he came out the next day at exactly the arranged time. The quote was better than I anticipated and he was very knowledgeable. Luis Castro is wonderful! Excellent at everything he does. And he's done many things for me. How did I first find him? One summer long ago, my air conditioner went out one night when it was over 100 degrees. You know, when you can't get anyone to come? I went to one of those online handyman things, and Air Efficiency Service popped up. They were rated well, so I gave them a try -- at 10 p.m.. Luis came first thing the next morning! I swear, he could have sold me anything at that point, but he didn't. He just fixed a little part that had burned out, and I was cool again. He is so very nice. Prices are reasonable. He is very competent. I trust him so much that I had him put in a very complicated water filtration system in my home. He did an amazing job! And since that summer morning, I have had him on contract to service my AC and furnace. Luis is very responsive to phone calls and emails, too. read more

Our AC unit was leaking water in our attic and water was dripping into the closet below and soaking the walls around it. It was hot and while the unit worked, we had to shut it off to prevent further water damage to our home. So I was calling everyone I saw with decent reviews, nobody was available. I found Air Efficiency Services on another site, and I put in a request for service and AES called me within 5 minutes! And they came out the same day. The appointment was a window of between 4p and 6p, and while they didn't make it here till a little after 6p, they called ahead to let me know they were running behind. I wasn't upset because nobody else was even available that day. Our unit had been serviced three weeks before by another AC service provider, so we were really stretching our minds trying to figure out why this was happening. The AES tech flushed some nitrogen down the evaporation drainage line which he thought was draining a little slow. However, the condensation drip pan was not overflowing (and the unit has a auto-shut off device that's suppose to shut down the AC if the pan gets full...to prevent flooding. The AES tech also thought the condensation coils might be causing the flooding because they were found to be very dirty. Unfortunately, he couldn't clean them the first night. But he came the next day and cleaned the coils. All total it came to $114.95 the first visit and then $245 for the coil cleaning. But the leaking stopped after the cleaning and our walls are drying out now. Thank you Air Efficiency Services for coming out and taking care of our A/C unit. read more
