Don't you hate when you're cooking up a mean Mac n cheese and oh great, the milk is expired..! Luckily Wagners is in a prime location for my area of town and always has whatever I need in stock. The staff in its entirety is wonderful and I love getting to converse when I have the chance in passing with others. This community is one to be proud of and my trips to the grocery store are always quick with no issues. Extra kudos to Miss Melody who always goes above and beyond to make our day and even help with recipe ideas! Wagner's our Hometown Market is really what this place is, I'm thankful for this business in town!

I just went to Local Acres Marketplace for the first time and had a great experience. As soon as…read moreyou walk in the store the first thing your tempted with is a ton of local goodies from Sisters and beyond. Ton of specialty items I usually would have to trek into Newport Market for. The bakery had marionberry pies, there is a deli section, and they have organic options! Lots of fruits, veggies plus plenty of gluten free choices too. The store was really really clean with a nice atmosphere and similar aesthetic to Market of Choice but seems to provide more value and less stress. The best part was my cashier Judy! She was genuinely nice to me, I had a great customer service experience with her. She really made me feel that local true community feeling, honestly how it should be. She was so nice when I mentioned it was my first time - she truly authentically welcomed me with such a kind tone and even walked me through signing up for their points system (much better than Market of Choice coupons this actually adds up toward your grocery bill)!!! We chatted about the store and its history a bit which was cool. I walked away feeling like wow, that was a nice experience! Rare these days even in Bend. This is a sleeper hit for me and is going to be my new go to. I told her I will definitely be back and I will. Highly recommend, customer service means a lot to me and I truly had a positive experience.

Billing itself as an 'international' market, Bendite Market is that to some extent. But mostly it…read moreseems to be a small neighborhood convenience store with a lot of Asian packaged goods. And it's expensive. I'd say about half the store comprises 'regular' goods - canned soups, boxed pasta, sundries, etc., with the rest being interesting instant ramen/pho, spices, teas, candies and other not-so-regular stuff. Much of which you can find far cheaper across the street at Safeway, or at least something close to it. Not everything, of course, but if the local hotel/apartment denizens need a emergency package/can of whatever, not sure why they'd not go to Safeway. Also, and I'm sure this is just a startup issue, but a lot of the goods were unpriced, either on the items or on the shelf labels. Beer, some wine, no produce, a few dairy items, a frozen treat case. Newport Market this ain't. One feature, I'm told, is that they can order anything internationally. In these days of Amazon, I'm not sure how big a draw that might constitute. But maybe. Parking at the Westside Village shopping center is already a bit of a zoo and from what I can see, many of the commercial spaces are not yet tenanted. Those folks looking to go to Banger & Brews might soon be miffed at the difficult parking. A-OK. It's different than the norm here in Bend and that's a good thing.

Finally an Asian Mart has arrived in Bend, Oregon. So we needed to check it out and yes they do carry a lot of Asian products and the staff asked if we need something they don't have they can try and bring it in. But we found lumpia wrapper 3 different types and different types of shoyu, Korea spices sauces and chili pepper flakes and a wide variety of ramens. They also carry some but not a lot of fresh produce, but they do have items that the other supermarket hardly carry like bean sprouts, and Asian vegetables. Lots of parking shared with other retailers in the same complex, but they do have stalls marked off for their customers also.

Sometimes it is best to let owners describe their business, as West Coast Provision owners do,…read morebecause as a customer who has been in their doors dozens of times in the last seven years, I couldn't do it better myself: "Located in Bend's Northwest Crossing neighborhood, West Coast Provisions offers a curated selection of groceries, wine, beer, prepared foods, and unique home goods and gifts, with particular focus on products from Oregon and surrounding states." CONNECTION: My husband and I lived it Bend for almost 20 years but moved away a couple of years before this delightful little store, near our Bend neighborhood, opened in roughly the latter part of 2018. But we were still in Bend multiple times a year to see my parents who lived nearby and visited regularly up through the passing of the last of them in 2024 and even through this year to take care of things at their home. We will soon make our last ever trip to Bend, our first was in 1982 so we are grieving the end of things, and one of the things we will miss is stopping in at West Coast Provisions for purchases for my mom's kitchen or for our own, or treats to share or gifts or gift cards for friends and family. Every time we were in we found something to purchase. SERVICE: People working here were always congenial, if not warm, and questions were always answered. And except for right after the local high school let out for the day, it was never very crowded. Maybe that was also because we chose the timing to avoid crowds because having lived in and visited Bend for so many years, we knew when those crowded times were more likely to be. $: Prices are premium here and so know that going in. You are paying for convenience and uniqueness. Newport Avenue Market, the independent and employee owned full service grocer just a few blocks from this one is our favorite of all grocery markets of anyplace we've lived and West Coast Provisions doesn't compete with that. But it is lovely little shop for what it is. TIP - SATURDAY FARMER'S MARKET: The NW Crossing Farmer's Market (a good one) is on Saturday mornings in Market Season and on this same street. PARKING: On street parallel parking and street parking can be hard to come by with Sparrow Bakery directly across the street and a popular burger joint next door. There is also a small lot behind the building. ACCESSIBILTY: Level in from sidewalk, all on one floor, ample clear floor space in aisles and at register. ADA marked parking behind the building, I think. COFFEE AND GOODIES: If you're hankering for a Sparrow ocean roll and the line is too long, this market sometimes has ocean rolls in the store along with goodies from other local bakeries. And the sell good coffee by the cup. WINE TASTING: For such a small store there is an impressive array of wines and they host a curated tasted once a month (I think). Check with them to learn more.
