I just went to Local Acres Marketplace for the first time and had a great experience. As soon as you walk in the store the first thing your tempted with is a ton of local goodies from Sisters and beyond. Ton of specialty items I usually would have to trek into Newport Market for. The bakery had marionberry pies, there is a deli section, and they have organic options! Lots of fruits, veggies plus plenty of gluten free choices too. The store was really really clean with a nice atmosphere and similar aesthetic to Market of Choice but seems to provide more value and less stress. The best part was my cashier Judy! She was genuinely nice to me, I had a great customer service experience with her. She really made me feel that local true community feeling, honestly how it should be. She was so nice when I mentioned it was my first time - she truly authentically welcomed me with such a kind tone and even walked me through signing up for their points system (much better than Market of Choice coupons this actually adds up toward your grocery bill)!!! We chatted about the store and its history a bit which was cool. I walked away feeling like wow, that was a nice experience! Rare these days even in Bend. This is a sleeper hit for me and is going to be my new go to. I told her I will definitely be back and I will. Located in the same parking lot next to Trader Joe's in Oregon Bend, we decided to visit and see the items they carry and they had a huge selection of coffee products and dried fruits, flour, oats and many other items and you can purchase just the amount you want. The meat section was okay and can goods, but again no seafood section! Drinks from soda and alcohol items they carry a good variety. Besides grocery items. Parking is shared by all retailers in the shopping complex. read more

Cool store, CLUELESS workers. Don't ask any questions and you'll be just fine! I've shopped in there often, they have never been able to show me where a product in question was even once. They often say, we are out. When they are not, they just have no idea where it is. Before I asked, is there a way to look it up. Was told no. Maybe because this is the only location, don't think it'll be like mainstream store. Technology a little outdated. Have deliver thousands of grocery delivery orders. I still shop here, I will refund a product before asking questions. This store has lost out on more than $1000 in refunds from me alone this year and I'm only one shopper. Local Acres Marketplace (formerly Food 4 Less) has recently greatly expanded their local offerings. If it's made or produced in Central Oregon, there's a good chance it's sold here. They have also greatly expanded their plant-based section. Probably the best selection in Central Oregon. read more

Folks this is not Food 4 Less or Fred Meyer - this is an artisan market with local and high wualoty items - most of it organic and local which is gonna run you about 40-50 percent higher cost than factory farmed meats, average produce or doritos--this store is for those who want something special, local, high quality etc. read more

Food for Less is awesome. During this stupid pandemic, we are ordering food for pickup. When the pandemic first started, we placed orders from Food 4 Less, but then we tried Fred Meyer since they are about 15 miles closer to our home. However, after Fred Myer substituted way too many sub-standard items with no prior notice several times, we started ordering from Food 4 Less again, even though it is about 15 miles further than Fred Meyer. The name of the store is a little deceptive, since the prices are not less, but the quality, dependability and friendy staff make it worth the longer drive and comparable prices. The deli selection could be improved, but every other department in the store is superior to most stores, especially the produce. read more

instead of tossing good food coming on the best used by date, they let it get into useful hands with deep discounts. I like they respect food we have enough to get it used instead of bleaching it over in the garbage so no one can use it, as Safeway and other places do. Food waste is a disgraceful practice. I frequented TJ's and really had no interest in shopping at F4L. But friends kept mentioning it and so one day I wondered in and was pleasantly surprised! Holy cow! Now we shop there all the time. First of all... their produce is way better than TJ's - conventional & organic. They've got a great organic produce selection IMO. Shop their organics and use the Dirty Dozen/Clean 15 lists and it's all good. They've got kombucha. Organic dairy products. There's organic and gluten free stuff all over the store. They've got a bulk aisle. Check out the fish - there's often wild caught fish and there are often Manager Specials - super discounts on things that need to be sold & cooked or frozen ASAP - SWEET DEALS! They've got a nice beer/cider selection & often have some super sales there too. This location recently started with curb-side delivery & there are parking spaces now dedicated to pick-up. This F4L is independently owned and they do NOT participate in the F4L Rewards/accounts which is super disappointing. Kroger owns most F4L. read more

For all the years Food 4 Less has been open, I've never been inside. Given I see other folks coming and going, this week I decided to go in myself and see if what I'd heard about decent organic produce was true. In short: not. But a reason I would go back is they had the best looking tomatillos, pasilla peppers, jalapenos and serranos I have seen anywhere in Bend. Great selection of dried chile peppers too; an unbeatable selection. And an entire long aisle lined on both sides with Mexican food products, from soft drinks and sweets to canned beans and hominy to...you name it. Next time I'm looking for a Mexican specialty item, this will be on my list of stops. This place must make it very tough for the bodegas in town that are focused on customers who speak Spanish as their first language to compete with price point and volume of options. A no frills store, sort of likes warehouse shopping meets Albertson's, everything looked well stocked and clean with huge aisles and, interestingly on the day of my visit, hardly any shoppers. Staff members were few and only at checkstands, but friendly at checkout. If you want to buy animal proteins here, you're going to find them shrink wrapped in a huge case at the back of the store and from big commercial suppliers, like Foster Farms. This is not an in-house butcher, sustainably raised food products retailer. They do have a few local or local-ish products, like Bob's Red Mill grain products (in bins) although not the organic options of that line, Springfield Dairy's Nancy's Kefir, O'Hana salsa and Deschutes Brewery beer. But this is not really a "focus on local" retailer. They do carry Western Family branded items so that suggests this is an IGA (Independent Grocer). Most of the products sold in the store are mass commerical brands I don't buy, but there were items that would make it on my grocery list like Lundburg Rice or Mrs. Meyer's cleaning products and at pretty good prices, although not enough of a bargain for me to abandon purchasing them from Newport Avenue Market or Whole Foods which are my usual haunts as a shopper whose loyalty those grocers have earned. I have a bit of an affinity for Food 4 Less. They have great people working there. Great, helpful people. Like the guy who went over the top to track down whether they had Mentos gum (I know, I'm sorry I wasted him time, they don't carry it) and the butcher who sent me in the right direction for a corned beef. I don't do all of my shopping here, but there are a few go-to items that I get here. They have a great Hispanic section to help lame Anglos like me try to make authentic Mexican food at home. I need all the help I can get and this place has what I need in order to be a success. Nice produce selection with great prices. Asian pears, 2 for $1, as opposed to 2 for $5 at Safeway. Good prices. Everything they have at the "regular" grocery store. It's not a terribly convenient location, so I don't always make the effort to shop here. And yes, it smells when you walk in. We recently moved from SW to NE Bend. We enjoy shopping at Food 4 Less for our everyday needs. Overall their staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Their produce and meats are fresh. Their deli could use a large assortment but the bakery has a large variety of breads, muffins and bagels. They have several wines and beer. All in all, it is a good grocery store with wonderful hours. read more

They have bulk items, standard produce as well as organic. Larger selection than many Bend stores. Their prices are *ok* but not mind blowing or great. For every one item I found cheeper the next was more expensive than other stores so it depends. The decor is a bulk warehouse store. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful. Dropped in because I needed water and I have to say it's no bargain here. Not a staff member asked if I needed help even though there were plenty of them around and when I went to pay my checker took the person in front of me then had me wait while she took another party on the next check stand over who got in line after I did. Not a great first impression and probably won't go back unless I am desperate. read more

Not sure what is meant by LESS, because much of the time the prices are average or more. BUT... * For dried spices, you can't beat 'em. Very good selection and prices there. * Often they have the big bags of Juanita's corn chips for an excellent $2.50. * Sometimes you can find good prices in the meat case when the package has reached its sell-by date. Beer selection is way overpriced, and they won't let you buy it unless everybody with you is over 21 and shows id? Went to target next door and got better selection for better prices, and employees had much better attitudes. I for one won't be getting a babysitter for my 20 year old brother and friends just because I want to buy beer. Also bad odor in the deli area of the store. read more

I am very impressed with this Food 4 Less. They carry so much!! And if they don't, just ask. They will usually try to order it. Everyone has been so helpful! The bakery, I was a able to special order our wraps. I've had a great experience with the butcher and getting special cuts when I ask. This is one of the best places in town to buy two things: Mexican groceries and beer. Their produce, especially the ethnic things like cilantro, limes, peppers, napa and savoy cabbage, etc, are spectacular. Fruits are slightly lacking and they don't have many organic options. Their Mexican spices line an entire aisle, and they have all sorts of products I thought I'd have to import from SoCal, like 3 different kinds of masa, pickled jalapeños, and even chile covered mango candies and Mexican sodas! Their beer selection is enormous and in the front right corner. The prices on individual bottles is easily a dollar cheaper than anywhere else in town. And to all the people complaining about bagging their own groceries, suck it up! At least this way, if your bread or eggs end up on the bottom, it's your own fault. The one other thing we get here is Tillamook yogurt, but only on sale ($0.55). When it's full price ($0.77), it's cheaper at Target. read more

Came here whilst on vacation me and my girlfriend went to do our grocery shopping for our week in town which included a 6 pack of beer only a 6 pack when we got to the counter the women asked for both of our ids my girlfriend being only 20 couldn't provide one and obviously was with me because we were on vacation the woman behind the cou ter refused to ring up my purchase and told me do not come back to the store that I'm not welcome to shop there anymore I was completely blindsided I understand the laws but that was completely uncalled for what were we supposed to do read more

They have a great selection of vegetables, beer and bulk foods, usually at pretty good prices. Be very careful with anything that has an expiration date on it. Be sure to check the label. These folks are not that good at removing stuff that is past it's "sell by" date which is why they aren't getting 5 stars. read more

This is a discount grocery store. Lots of low end and off brand products. A large selection of staples and processed foods. This store has a great beer and wine selection. Large parking lot shared with Trader Joe's. Makes it easy to cover pretty much all of your grocery needs in one stop. read more

Three star worthy based on actually having folk at the check-out. It was very busy and we didn't have to wait more than a minute. Some grandma with green nails checked us out. Quick scanning. Took her no more than 40 seconds to scan everything. Only thing is you have to bag your own groceries. Had no idea, but no problems. Prices are decent. Store feels like a factory full of old stuff and the layout is pretty bad. Doesn't connect in areas. Kind of strange. read more

Really liked the selection of organic products ranging from produce, beauty products, vitamins, and household items. Also there is a large selection of gluten-free products as well. The staff was helpful and friendly. Another thing I noticed is the produce department very clean and always stalked. They have a wide variety of beers and wines and prices are hard to beat.
