The cashier Alexandra and manager Nora were pretty rude, caused some drama and were very unpleasant to be around. They need to work on their interactions. Disappointed in their behaviors which is a bummer since the male manager is amazing and so polite. Ok if you're a health nuts you'll love this store. They have all kinds of healthy foods, nothing, when I say nothing I mean NOTHING that is not healthy, even the toothpaste and brushes are healthy, lol . I honestly can't live like this, I need some toxic material killing me but kudos to you for pressing through. I will say that the chocolate it definitely better so ok, we agree on some things. They also have a library of vitamins, anything you can imagine, they probably have it. They have hygiene products and female needs all organic and none toxic. I've taken a thousand grocery delivery orders over the entire country. This store is at the top of my favorites overall! I was very impressed with the staff. Particularly a young man named James, kind and friendly. He offered to get me a product I needed from the back of house enthusiastically. (So different than Safeway or Fred meyer) haha Give James a raise-- great employee! Their produce looks the best in bend, and all organic. Store is clean, and tidy. Opened as of August 27 in the Bend River Promenade (the Sear's / Macy's mall). I was prepared to "pooh pooh" this store, part of a chain owned by Colorado based corporation which also owns Vitamin Cottages of which I am not a fan. But the friendly and well informed staff, good selection of products and competitve prices on organic and sustainable products I buy as well as food supplements leaves me a fan based on my first shopping visit. If what I heard from customers shopping around me is any indication, there were other new fans in the store today too. Parents of all ages saying to children of all ages and vice versa "Isn't this cool" or one partner saying to another ""What a great buy on this". That kind of thing. The interesting thing was that as some of us talked to others of us, we all seemed sort of surprised to find the store to be what it is. Expectations exceeded as it were. Here are a few of the many things that caught my eye this first visit in... ...ample fresh produce, all seemed organic, at good prices with Oregon and Washington products clearly marked. ...they keep their bulk sealed bags of raw and toasted nuts in a refrigerator case. ...a nice selection of 2% Fage yogurt. Ninety percent of what is on most shelves is fat free. I'm a fan of dairy fat in yogurt. It's nice to have choices here. ...Colorado based Noosa yogurt in lots of flavors. Makes sense, perhaps, since Natural Grocers is also a Colorado company. Only Whole Food has Noosa locally but in limited flavors and a big bonus here is the regular price is a cent lower than WF's sales price. ...Zum soap in bars and in liquid form for Frankincense & Myrhh which is fabulous to keep by the kitchen or bathroom sink. (It will make kids...make that everyone...want to wash their hands.) ...from level in entry and throughout the generous aisles, the store was nicely accessible ...for folks looking for food supplements, they have arguably the best selection in Bend for breadth and depth with prices on par with Whole Foods for same. They do not have the fresh cheeses, seafood and meat sections you'll find at Whole Food and Newport Avenue Market (two of my favs for shopping) nor the array of local products carried and highlighted at each of those stores, nor the fresh deli section either. But the staff here was as friendly, if not yet as polished, as those full grocery retailers and that is high praise. THIS N THAT: 1) Natural Grocers apparently offers free health coaching to customers--including individualized nutrition sessions and meal planning - which is a great marketing tool to encourage customers to buy products there. 2) There is a community room at the front of the store where shoppers can help themselves to free coffee or tea. (Wifi too I think.) They also conduct demonstrations and classes in this space; todays' flyer said the discussion this evening would be "Everything is better with bacon". 3) Current hours are roughly 9a to 8p seven days a week and open most days a year (except Christmas, Thanksgiving and a few others.) read more

Staff rarely knows where things are located or what specific items they have. Takes 2 of them to confirm they don't know. They never bag or box up at the checkout stand either. It's like a little slice of the entitlement that you find in Portland restaurants where the staff feels the job is below them and the customers are inconveniencing them. I wish they had the same management as Whole Foods because the selection of items is not the issue, it's just the employees and how they run the store. read more

At Natural Grocer I have been very pleased with their produce it is always stocked well and kept up with. (I have NOT seen their heads of Romain striped down to half a head and still ask full price, as I have at other stores) They have a a nice variety of products overall. The customer service I have received has been excellent. Staff have helped me find products (in store) and have excellent follow through by calling me (at home) when products I'm interested in have been delivered to the store. I come to this store for one reason only, Booda Butter Lip Balm. $3.19 a tube and the only place in town that I've found it. So, awesome. What I like about this store, aside from the lip balm is that you HAVE to bring your own bags. There are no bags, some boxes, but no bags. Good for them for putting some tough love on us. read more

This store has everything for a small grocery. Their vitamins and mineral selection best in town . Always a knowledgeable person willing to help you in this section of store. The store had more item before they in large their drinks and wine alcohol area . I miss the ready made items more the having cold drink section. Store this size having cold drink really an over kill. Two negative their fresh produce looks great but once home your lucky if stays fresh for three days. I had lemons in a paper bag after two days I went to use they were moldy. Celery went limp after one day potatoes started to grow roots after three days . Green onion started turn yellow after two days.. Tomatoes spots of mold after couple days . I frequent this store and I constantly try produce thinking maybe will last a few days . Unless you use day of purchase you will be throwing produce out..So I buy produce elsewhere that last at least a week. Second the employees half are extremely friendly and helpful the others you don't dare ask a question you will get dirty looks as if they are not there for your convenience. I truly wish the produce freshness would improve . As for employees more training on how to treat customers would be helpful. I'm still a new customer here, but this store hits the mark in every department. Their prices are AWESOME and I would feel confident about buying anything in this store without worrying. When the sales are on, this place can be about half the price of the same brands elsewhere! I'm impressed with the grab and go foods, and there is a nice selection of local items, including salads from Mother's! The supplement selection is huge and I look forward to exploring it more. Shopping here is going to replace Whole Foods for me and save me so much money!!! read more

Just love this store! Their prices are decent and the produce section is so beautifully fresh. They also carry some items I have trouble finding elsewhere, like Savoy/Napa cabbage. Everything always looks like it came straight from a picturesque garden, and it changes with what is available that week. They have a large refrigerated bulk section that I appreciate, and you can get all sorts of healthy snacks at a great price. Their bakery section is limited, though, which is a bummer. A few things I love from this store - the fact that they don't use bags (bring your own, or they have boxes), the Willamette Pies (perfect size, perfect price), and their great ice cream selection. This place isn't our main grocery store, but it's closer and cheaper than Whole Foods, so it's definitely in my regular rotation. read more

This new grocery store is a pleasant surprise. If you appreciate good-quality alternative groceries, this seems to be new destination in town. It's got that Whole Foods vibe -- and the same aromatic ambience: the moment you walk in, you smell the combination of expensive creams and soaps, exotic spices, and rubbed wood that seems typical of this entire organic grocery segment. It's smaller than Whole Foods but larger than Nature's. Nice selection of organic vegetables and some interesting alternative brands and offerings. It may be a bit tricky for me to fit this into my regular grocery shopping cycle, but now that I've checked it out, I'm going to try. read more

Super friendly employees. Delicious produce! Huge vitamin/supplement section. Although it's small, every time I've been here, I've been able to find everything I need. I mainly stop in here for "quick trips", since it's convenient to my house, and relatively easy to get in and out of the parking lot, etc. (unlike TJs and WFs). Bring your own bags, as they don't have any paper or plastic. They do sell some very nice quality, and good looking grocery baskets and bags though. Bright and clean store with a good variety of natural foods and products. We stopped by for breakfast on the go and found some yummy breakfast burritos in the grab and go section. They always have items marked down, and carry high quality products where you don't have to worry about all the junk other grocery chains like to carry- such as gmos and hormones. Really unimpressed. Found a few groceries, but was hoping to be able to eat there too. The only vegan option they had was a tomato "soup" which turned out to be nothing but tomato paste with what tasted like a whole salt cavern full of salt. Unbelievably awful. When we mentioned it nicely to the guy at the check out, "Just want to let you know that the tomato soup really needs some adjustment. It's totally paste and way over salted." He just shrugged, said, "Oh well," and went about his business. So if you're vegan, beware. Not a vegan-friendly place at all, and basically not a friendly place. read more

Our kind of store! All the produce is organic, no need to check the labels. They have a great selection of grass-fed, free-range meats, organic/natural frozen foods, organic/natural packaged foods, etc. They are a bagless store so bring your reusable bags or re-purpose one of their cardboard boxes. I was introduced to this place in my home state and i loved it. Actual Organic and Natural stuff from low budget, non commercial companies. Beautiful selection of cosmetics, Thirst quenching variety of drinks and a plethora of food and drug choices. They turned me onto A natural cream soda that was better than A&W. They also carry a nail polish under 10 bucks called Nomiss that is non toxic, true non toxic. Their veggies actually come from local farmers in every area this store is in. What Better way to shut down big corporate than buying from local farmers. read more

Overall I was pretty impressed with Natural Grocers' selection. They had a good variety of produce and I was happy to find a nice selection of full fat organic milks and yogurts as well. Their prices were reasonable. My only issue (really just more of a bummer for us) is that a lot of their seeds, flours, cereals, nuts, dried fruits, etc are bulk items that the company packages themselves and sells. I wasn't able to buy any of these products because they are all packaged in a facility that packages nuts. A member of our family has a severe nut allergy so due to the possibility of cross contamination, we can't buy any of those items. If cross contamination wasn't an issue for us, I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of their packaged bulk items (they had a great selection!). Overall, I really liked the store and we'll be back. read more

Good GF options and wide selection of fresh nuts & grains.
