I know Subaru cars have strange location of oil pan drain plug and many DIYers made the same mistake (not me). But for trained technician, if paying attention it should be avoided. I reckon they immediately recognized the mistake and stopped, and refilled or flushed the transmission. I appreciate their honesty on the mistake and fix it.
