We didn't want to leave our car parked at the Austin airport for 2 weeks, and knew we'd be jet-lagged on our return. I feel fortunate to have found A Cheap Ride and Pat Johnson. As it turned out, our first experience with Pat showed exactly how good he is. Our British Airways flight outbound was delayed, but we received little information on our end as to the reason for the delay or how late the flight might be. Coincidentally, Pat was expecting to pick up a passenger on the inbound non-stop from LHR (which was obviously delayed as well). Through Pat, we found out more than we were able to get online from the carrier! We were also delayed on our return flight, but Pat was there waiting in baggage claim for us. His service is simply over the top. We enjoyed conversing with Pat as he drove. Since he's been in the Austin/Round Rock area for many years, he's accumulated a wealth of knowledge about the area, local people, and local businesses. His retention of information and attention to detail are amazing. And while he's a careful and cautious driver, he made excellent time getting us to and from the airport. Pat is very much in touch with his customers, knows his business well, and cares about the quality of service his company provides. He is an excellent communicator, so you can feel confident that he will keep you informed as to when you'll be picked up. And, most importantly in this type of business, he is reliable, punctual, and does exactly what he says he will. I highly recommend A Cheap Ride for an excellent experience.

Years ago, I stumbled upon them on complete accident - funny how life works out. I had a very last-minute trip and needed a ride to the airport. I contemplated Uber but didn't trust their driver availability for an early morning flight. Pat promptly returned my call and I booked our first trip with him. We later found out he does field his own calls so he may not answer the phone if he is driving (which I appreciated when I was in the car). As others have mentioned, Pat is a great conversationalist and a wealth of information. Having grown up in the area, he knows it like the back of his hand. On a more recent airport trip, my SO discovered he forgot something, and Pat offered to make a stop at the store so we could buy it before we departed. This gesture alone demonstrates how above and beyond he is willing to go to make sure you have everything you need. Not only that, but he knew exactly where a store was when we were driving on a random section of Toll road. And there I was in the backseat still trying to pull up my Google Maps. It is his consistent attention to detail that we most appreciate. He texts us the day before pickup so we can sleep well knowing he'll be there tomorrow. He keeps an eye on our flight status and will text if there's any delays. He also keeps an eye on TSA wait times so we know what to expect when we get to the airport. And of course, all his cars are spotless, well-maintained and sanitized between each trip. The short of it is that this is a locally-owned business I am glad to continue to support for years to come. I live in Illinois and my 60-year-old mother was in a bind in Round Rock, TX. She needed to get to…read morethe airport so I called a few taxi services and A Fair Fare Taxi was supposed to be one of the least expensive. I called the business number (512) 650 -0062 and a man told me at the time that their credit card machine was down so I gave him my Credit Card information to charge my card when it was working again. The total was $49 and I left a $6 tip to make it an even $55 but they charged my card $59 later that day and another $59 the following day. I got ahold of the company once I realized these inaccurate charges and politely asked them to refund one of the charges for $59, they could keep the $10 tip from the other charge. The owner apologized and asked me for my credit card information again so he can give to the merchant to refund the funds. The following day the taxi company charged my card for $671.15 and then again a few days later for $811 under their company name. A Fair Taxi located at 370 Gattis School Rd in Round Rock, Tx. is a scam and running a fraudulent business. Unfortunately after the thieves racked up a bill for me of $1546.15 in fraudulent charges is when I began my investigation on them. There are other reviews of these men showing up late and drunk to customer's requests for service and stealing credit card information. Do not use these criminals they are not running an integrity transport company. They set up a website that is a knock off of Taxi ADZ to fool you!
