It's a small diner style restaurant. It has limited seating but if you're in the mood for a good affordable quick breakfast, go there. The service is quick and the people are always friendly and pleasant and takes away from the stereo type that all NY'ers are mean. I use to live in NY and moved to Texas but every time I visit NY and I'm in the Bronx I hit them up first for breakfast. So I called and placed an order for delivery. A man picked up the phone, I placed an order for a Philly steak wrap Deluxe. I said it to him three times, plus two apple turnovers, and one scoop of vanilla. And then I said I want to use my debit, the guy was so dense, He claimed to put the number in twice so he said oh, it didn't go through. No problem I said I had money in the house just cook the order everything is cool. So my order really came to $15.25. I asked the guy how much was it before I hung up he said $18.50. I said it couldn't be that much, I calculated everything and everything was $15.25. So now I get my order, I asked a minimum 6 * Philly steak wrap. This guy sent me a Philly steak sandwich. So I called back and ask him why did you send me the sandwich instead of the wrap. He said and I quote( you said no such thing,)He said it three times. I said I even told the guy that took the order I want the wrap. So he asked the guy in front of me while he was on the phone did the customer tell you that they wanted the wrap. This guy freaking lied on me straight up, he said no she didn't tell me anything like that I told the main guy I said he is lying I cannot believe he's freaking lying on me like that. Outstanding greasy spoon breakfast! Sunnyside, bacon, potatoes with wheat toast - never had better. And the price could not be any lower - definitely beats cooking weekend breakfast in every way. What makes it so good? The fried eggs have the crispy edge, the potatoes have the well done onions and peppers that you can see in between the burnt bits. Love this place. I moved into the area to attend grad school at Fordham and this has become my go-to diner. Service is fast, friendly, and the food is extremely affordable and very good. There are few (if any) places in New York City where you can get endless coffee, a plate of french toast, and a glass of orange juice for five bucks, and M&G is one of them. I also get their veggie burger often if I stop in at lunch, which is very good and unlike any I've had before-- it seems homemade, though I could be wrong. There are two locations, both on Arthur Ave. One is just south of 187th, and the other is just north of 188th. The southern location seems to be busier in my experience, and the northern location ("M&G II") is mostly populated with younger Fordham students from the off-campus housing which is right there. I usually go to this one just because it's less crowded, though if you go on a weekend morning to either location, it doesn't even matter (super busy). First things first, I think, the guy cooking and the guy taking the orders are family, or brothers of life, because the relationship they have, the way the orders are been yelled across the room and no mistakes , no forgotten order , no error in order taking is pretty amazing. This is a typical neighborhood diner serving the standard fare. I ate breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. If you want a LARGE meal, then you'll be satisfied.
