I am so thankful I found this place, I had came in on weds and Ezella was so nice to help fit me in her schedule before Saturday. She looked at my hair and gave me a rough estimate of how much it would cost for corn rows. I noticed not a lot of places in concord braid so I wish I found her place sooner. She was very welcoming and asked how I wanted them done. I didn't have to wait so she definitely schedules her clients accordingly and not over booking them. I have somewhat long hair that is thigh and she finished me up within 45 mins without pulling the hell out of my hair. I would definitely recommend this place she offers all kinds of hair services. Horrible at weaves. I would never recommend her to anyone. My weave unraveled within 3 days of her installing it. Do not waste your money or your time. She has no idea what she's doing when it comes to sew in weaves. She butchered my hair and I left highly disappointed and looking a mess. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I don't even know why she offers this service in the first place when she knows she does not know how to do weaves. The only reason I can think of is to scam people. Ezella is a very bitter, racist woman. But, I am not shocked by all the high praise. She is probably quite competent and professional if you have dark enough skin. The entire appointment she kept saying hateful things about "you mixed people" and how we "are taking over" and are "the problem". The fact that my hair is as kinky as hers did not phase her. I sat through her tirade because she was winging sharp scissors around my head. And no, she did not give me the trim I asked for, instead hacked up my hair while trying to upsell me additional services. I only wanted a trim for my transitioning hair. Instead she took it on herself to try to cut off ALL of my hair. I kept asking her to stop chopping and had to yell to get her to back off. I left very upset and embarrassed because my hair was less than half and long as it was when I went in. I asked her specifically not to cut any more than an inch off, she cut off four inches. I absolutely do not recommend her unless you are a dark-skinned black who also has disdain for people who are not like you. If you are light-skinned, mixed race or in an interracial relationship, do not come here. She has deep seated issues. And absolutely do not bring your mixed race children. read more

Ezella (one of the stylists) is amazing. I moved here from NYC one year ago and began the search for a good hair stylist with a gentle touch. Gentle touch... because I'm a bit of a baby. I'm extremely "tenderheaded" -- meaning, something as simple as combing my hair causes me debilitating pain. My tolerance for rough handling of my scalp is incredibly low. It was imperative that I find someone willing to take his/her time with the job to keep discomfort to an absolute minimum. I've tried a few places. Either they were gentle and did a poor job, or they did a great job but nearly caused me to pass out from the pain. Ezella is the only stylist I've encountered that can consistently whip up a neat set of cornrows without killing me with pain. She's a pro. She pays very close attention to my body language and adjusts accordingly. And, of course, she always makes my hair look incredible. Even if pain is not an issue for you, Ezella and Michelle are worth it for the quality of the work alone. They're also very personable and fun to talk/listen to. I enjoy each and every one of my visits. Highly recommended. read more

I saw Ezella for a weave install. Be mindful that her shop is located in the back of a barber shop. Walked in and was immediately catcalled by barbers and their clients (this is HARASSMENT), which I ignored and continued to walk to the back where her studio is. Once I entered studio, two older women were talking. I politely introduced myself letting them know I had an appointment for weave install. All I got in return was eye contact from both woman (more of a side eye if you ask me). I sat down and waited for around 10 minutes, until one left. This is when she finally introduced herself (seriously... I had to wait 10 minutes to figure out who was even doing my hair). While she is prepping my hair for washing she asks if I had already washed my hair and if I did, she could skip it to save time (WTF?!?). Mind you, I had already asked if wash was included when booking my weave install appointment initially, so I was dumbfounded and confused as to why she would even ask this. While she was working on my hair, she begins to talk negatively about Africans and how rude they are (seriously... if Africans are so rude, she must be from Wakanda/Zumunda, because her attitude is atrocious!). At one point, she stated that many customers have complained about the men in barber shop catcalling them when walking in/out shop, but she does not say anything to them because they 'look out for her' (again... another WTF?!?! moment). While sewing in tracks, she complained many times that wefts were too thick ( this store bought weave; there is absolutely nothing I can do about this). To sum it up, the whole time she was touched my hair, she was complaining about something or someone. When she finished, my weave looked amazing. Unfortunately, within one week, the tracks started to become loose in various areas. By one month, I had to take the weave down since so many areas were becoming unraveled. When leaving, got the same catcalled from different group of men. Once again, extremely awkward, uncomfortable, and UNPROFESSIONAL! In terms of achieving a hairstyle, she is talented and can have you looking good. If you can tolerate constant complaining and catcalling, this place is for you. read more

After reading all of the reviews about Ms. Ezella, I knew I had to make an appointment. I'm from Los Angeles and for the past few years, I've been trying to find a stylist. Thank God for Ms. Ezella! Every word on the reviews are true. I arrived at the shop and she had no one in front of me. She started my hair on time and took her time, which meant a great deal to me. I can't remember the last time my hair has looked like this. It feels and looks healthy, it's blowing in the wind and I'm one very satisfied customer. I have natural hair that I get a press and curl. Ezella does amazing work. My hair is in excellent condition. About 2 years ago my hair was 2 - 3 inches long and now it is half way down my back. Moving to the Contra Costa County area has been a adjustment for me for sure. One of the things I was dealing with that was bothersome was trying to find a decent hairdresser for my Mom and I. We like to use the same hairdresser, it works out nicely to have a mother/daughter day every month :) anyway, I went to a hairdresser in down town Concord that was sweet, but I left out with chemical burns and didnt even trim my ends! :/ $85, I felt misused, and would neva go back. So while on a search to find someone who had more exp and care for my hair, I found Ms. Ezella!!! She has experience in Multi-Ethnic hair! We hit it off as soon as we began chatting, I felt so comfortable. She made sure to take the steps properly to keep me from getting chemical burns, and didnt burn me with her flat irons either! The shampoo was so relaxing, I fell asleep when I got home. A relaxer/shampoo/flatiron/blowdry/trimmed ends= $85. I felt like a princess walking out, ready to conquer the world!
