We contacted Lyon's contracting via google after our insurance sent out another company three times over the past year for a leak on the forth floor. That company and the insurance wanted to pay for a problem they NEVER put eyes on. My other neighbors have had issues finding anyone willing to properly locate and fix their roof issues. Lyon's contracting came out. ACTUALLY got on the roof and troubleshot the issue. Since the problem and location of "holes" on the metal roof appeared to be in different locations. I contacted Lyons Contracting to price a large roof replacement with synthetic slate shingles. The owner and I had a very good initial conversation but we never received a quote. I called the office number and his personal cell phone but no one answers. I left messages several times, left text messages several times and filled out an email request on their website but haven't received the courtesy of a call back in almost 3 weeks. Very frustrating and disappointing. Obviously I chose another contractor to do the work. Why would anyone want to work with a company who won't return calls from a new customer with a big job. If I had work done and a problem arose, he would have little incentive to return my call. read more

Lyons Contracting replaced my roof last year and I was so pleased with their work that I chose them to repace the roof on my Mom's house this year. Mom picked out the shingles color and the crew completed the entite project in under three days. They were: (a) not in a rush, though it was a firm fixed price bid; (b) extremely diligent and thorough in inspecting for damage or irregularities as they went; (c) very communicative about the where I had wood rotting that necessitated repairs. After experiencing a leaky roof last year Tom came out quickly, inspected our roof, and took videos of the problem areas to show us the issue. I've since contacted Lyons about my old sunroom roof (Tom convinced me not to replace it and suggested a DIY solution), had them install gutter guards, and move a bathroom vent. Update: no leaks or problems despite the heavy rains this month. Also, the exhaust fan on my range hood started making a weird sound after the roof installation. I called Tom and he immediately agreed to pay for somebody to take a look. The guys came and discovered that three small pieces of shingle had fallen into the top of the vent. I sent Tom the receipt and he paid it within minutes, plus a little extra for my trouble. Obviously, the best scenario is for Tom's crew to make no mistakes. But mistakes happen, and the next best outcome is for Tom to own the mistakes and fix them completely and quickly. He did that. I'd use them again. read more

I'll echo what others have said about Tom being prompt, helpful, honest, and not the least bit pushy. We asked for quotes on some small gutter and fascia work as well as a general assessment of the condition of the metal roof on our new home and Tom spent an hour on a Saturday morning giving us an educational trip across our roof, asking us about our long term plans for the exterior, and then telling us how we could affordably manage some small issues while waiting for a more comprehensive replacement some time down the line. This is a guy who cares about craftsmanship and I'll certainly be in touch with him when the time comes. read more

Pro's : Provide free estimate. Showed up on time for free estimate. Cons: Estimate for replacement of 2 vent collars was $1,723. Other vendors quoted between $500 and $275. Job was completed for $275 in 32 minutes. That's an enormous difference for a very minor repair. Conclusion: pricing seemed extremely high. Sent vendor a note asking for explanation, no response. I would recommend getting multiple quotes from other roofers prior to doing business with this one based on my experience with them. read more

Had a dripping ceiling in our bathroom and called them last Saturday. They followed up later that day and we set up a time to meet the following week. Contractor came out, knew within a few minutes what the problem was and quoted us a price to do the repair work. Repair work was done the following Saturday and looks very nicely done looking at it from the outside. It hasn't rained yet, so that will be the real test but the work comes with a 1 year warranty so that provides some peace of mind. The repair cost was higher than expected, but we never got a second quote because the other repair company we called couldn't even come out for an estimate until 2 weeks later. I am happy to pay contractors more because I would rather pay more and get it done right the first time than try to save money and take the risks associated with a low bidder. I vetted the company and they have an A+ rating with the BBB Online and some other good reviews found on the web. No one is perfect but these guys did me right. read more

I'm a real estate agent and have had several clients use Tom with Lyon's Contracting - all very happy with their new roofs. I've also had him over for a quote to replace the roof on my house, which he told me I still have a couple years left. He actually also helped me diagnose another issue in my house, just to be helpful. My neighbor just used them to replace their roof and said they were very happy. They did a great job cleaning up, no nails or anything left, which was important since they have little kids. I plan to use Lyons Contracting to replace my roof in the next year or two, since I've had many happy clients with their work. This was my second time using Lyons Contracting. Both times it was for roof leaks. The first time they fixed a serious leak around the chimney that resulted from deficient work by another contractor. It has been leak free for almost two years. Today they assessed a minor leak around a skylight. Only cleaning and limited sealing was required. The technician was professional, helpful, and completed the minor repair without charge. Great work by Tom and his team, he came out and did a very thorough survey of the roof taking precise measurements and noting the state of the flashing around the chimney and the vents. He provided us advice on the different types of roofing material available and after discussing our plans for the house he helped us select very well priced and attractive tiles, and design a new gutter downspout scheme. The installation itself took just three days and they left the home just as they found it, no trash, stray nails, or bits of tiles, in fact they blew the leaves in the yard into a nice pile so I could put it on the curb for pick up. The entire crew was very professional, especially the foreman Ismael who pointed out some issues with our cedar shakes and provided some advice on how to deal with the problems. Lyons appears to do very thorough, high quality roofing work. They did underestimate the amount of wood that needed to be replaced (and therefore the total cost of the work). Other than that, I am happy with them and would use them again. These guys do great work, and their prices are fair..but there's a good deal of "bedside manner" that is missing. Whether its intentional or not, one employee in particular is rude, and on occasion insulting, on the phone. Just know going in that you'll likely find your personal interactions frustrating, but the work will be done right. read more

First off, I did NOT use this roofer. When I called to ask for an estimate I was met with "We require a minimum of $565". I tried to explain that the piece I needed replaced was the same type of piece I had replaced last year, but was an 8ft piece of aluminum which I paid a different company $250. I was trying to argue that the piece I needed replaced was approximately 3 ft long (I was simply trying to justify why they were charging such a high minimum. In doing so, I was met with "Do you have the other company's number? If so, you should call them back." And he was not helpful at all. So I ended the call with "Thank you" and he hung up. The estimate was a very fare and highly competitive estimate. The reason why we decided to go with Lyons was there A+ BBB rating, 4.9-5 point reviews on google, Angie's List, and Yelp. They came back out the same day of the estimate for us to select the shingle and was ready early the next day. They completed the roof removal and new roof in one day using high quality material. The clean up left the place spotless. Tom's foreman Ismail knows his roofing and follows the belief to do the job once and do it right. Real top notch company that I would recommend to anybody for complete roof replacement. We reviewed over ten companies and they didn't even come close on paper to Lyons.
