I contacted Hermetica about a leak in our ceiling that has been bothering us for about 2 years. We had a previous roofer come in 2 years ago to fix the leak, but they had not done a very good job as there was still a substantial amount of water leaking onto the floor whenever it rained. Getting in touch with Aza was one of the best things i've done in a while. His price was incredibly reasonable compared to other roofers we reached out to. He is also such a pleasure to hang out with. Super interesting and has a lot to say about life in general :) He came quickly, assessed exactly what had to be done, and didn't flinch at the fact that he would have to remove multiple slats on our roof deck in order to get to the leak. Our old garage flat roof was ripped up during a windstorm recently, exposing work that needed to be down to repair the brickwork and woodwork as well. After getting estimates from other roofing companies, Hermetica came in with the best estimate and was the most responsive. They came out to the house within days of my initial call to look at the work and I got an estimate a couple days later. They removed the old roof, repaired sections of the brick wall that needed repointing, repaired a section of the soffit that had rotted, replaced sections of the particleboard under the roof, laid the new roof, and replaced the parapet coverings all in only two days. They even came out one evening to cover exposed sections of the roof in anticipation of rain the weekend before the work to replace the roof. During the entire process, Aza (the owner) was extremely responsive to any texts and phone calls. The crew who did the work was always on time, friendly, and kept the work site clean. Aza at Hermetica was great. I had a leaking skylight, and he identified the problem accurately and provided fair pricing. The solution was that the skylight opening needed a lip built up so rain wouldn't pool into the seam around the skylight, which Aza took care of promptly. This is an update to my last review of this company. My roof continued to leak after their repairs, so I ended up hiring another company to fix it. Aza mentioned he would pass by to refund me the amount I paid for the roof repair his company did, which continued to leak almost immediately after they finished the work. Aza did come by and offered me almost half of what I paid him to complete the work. I accepted it, because I really just wanted to move on. He does care about his clients, was apologetic that he could not fix my roof, and actually came back to my home and offered me some compensation when most contractors would just disappear. However, I was asked to revisit my Yelp review after he paid me almost half of my original payment back, so he could have mixed motives. read more

I just bought a house and it was a gut job. But of course, everything that's glitter isn't gold (well, my house is pretty bad arse, but that's not the point of this post, is it...). During the 2018 monsoon season here in DC, I was awaken by the sound of water dripping into the house. Needless to say, I was puzzled. I saw up all night catching water and protecting the wall and the hardwood; I was over it. That next morning, or hours later, I jumped on yelp and looked for roofers. Of the five I called and spoke with Aza responded straight away and set up the next appointment for me. I kind of expect that much, but as they were on the roof, they realized that the hatch lining was super low, so they built it up nearly six or eight inches, took pictures for me to review, discounted the work because he performed a service and forgot to tell me (but I paid him for the work - he let me climb up the ladder and see the work, I super impressed).
