I've been going to this bakery for 3 years consistently. Went today, ordered two loaves of bread and asked for them to be sliced. The girl whom looks like a man offered to taking my order. Just sweeping the floor when I walked in, I asked him/her to wash her hands. He caught an attitude and told me "No! She/he does what he wants to do!" I turned around and walked out! Very inconsistent. Sometimes stale and rock hard items, sometimes fresh. Sometimes under baked with raw dough. Overall their doughnuts are good, the bread is good, too, but they only do simple white bread that does not really have any flavor. If you go early in the morning, you end up buying the stale old items from the day before. They still only take cash and employees get easily stressed out when it is too busy. However, overall it is ok. There is nothing else great in the area, that is the big draw for this place. read more

I've seen this place plenty of times, but only in passing. It's at the very edge of town and easy to miss. Also, cash only. It wasn't until I started following discussion threads about the best donuts in town that I started hearing Lyncourt Bakery, over and over. I finally had no choice but to drive 2 miles up Teall Ave and see for myself. It started off as a pleasant surprise for my girlfriend. Look, we have donuts! Then the excuses started getting thinner and thinner. Hey, we're driving out to Buffalo. Let's go like 8 miles out of our way and pick up some donuts from Lyncourt Bakery for the trip! All the donuts are so fresh. The filled ones actually feel heavy and ready to burst. The cake style donuts have this fresh crispness that holds up for days. What got me by surprise was the cinnamon roll. I threw one in as kind of an impulse buy, even though I'm not usually crazy about them. It turned out to be one of my favorite things to get. I'd also say they've got my favorite cannoli in town, though I'd recommend the regular over the chocolate/vanilla ones. The only thing I wasn't actually crazy about was the iced cinnamon buns, but that's only because I didn't know they had raisins. And they are absolutely packed with raisins, like more than you'd imagine they could hold without just breaking apart. Also, the bread is good, but not the best in town. Like any great bakery, you have to come early for the full selection, and anticipate that there might be a line. read more

The young teens/college students who helped me were all very nice. Note, this is cash only. Came to try the black and white (aka half moon cookies) and they had both the chocolate and vanilla type ( has a slight lemon flavor). Cookies were soft and supple with a soft frosting. Was shopping around for the best half moon cookies in the area and decided to try this spot. I had placed an order a day before and I wish they had told me it's cash only. I guess due to inflation the price of their goods has also increased. The half moon cookies had a nice flavor, not too sweet and a hint of lemon. However, I found the cookie to be a bit dry and crumbly. The icing wasn't creamy either as I prefer it. I tried one of their m&m cookies and that was delicious. If I could give 3.5 stars I would, but I'll just continue my hunt for the best half moons. read more

Lyncourt Bakery does a great job providing the Eastwood area what every neighborhood needs - a small, friendly local bakery that excels at making comfort foods. Typically I have enjoyed the donuts and cookies from Lyncourt as our "donut club" at work frequently takes advantage of their offerings. On my most recent trip I decided to try their pre-stretched pizza shells and was very impressed. We put our toppings on and baked them in oven for about 15-20 minutes and they were heavenly. The shop also offers cakes, pies, butter rolls, cannolis, and most of the other things you'd come to expect at a small local bakery. The staff are always friendly and willing to make recommendations and this is appreciated. Until recently, they were cash only, which can be a bummer for people like myself who usually don't carry greenbacks. However, I was told on my last visit that if you spend $10+ they can swipe a card. Guess I'll just be buying more baked goods - not a bad trade off. Don't be fooled by this hole in the wall bakery - it's well worth a stop. read more

Everything we bought there had a bitter aftertaste. Three of us tried various pastries and all agreed they were bitter. Cheesecake was dry, dense and not even sweet. First off, the smell was amazing. I know that's true of many bakeries, but I was overtaken by the aroma as soon as I opened the door. I was similarly overwhelmed by the choices. I'd come for the half moon cookies though, so that's what I got. The cookies were a little on the dry side, which was disappointing, but the flavor was nice: very light and balanced, with a hint of lemon, and the icing was airy. At less than a dollar per cookie, the price was more than reasonable. I know that others are complaining about the bakery being cash only, but it's a small business and I can understand why they'd want to avoid credit card company fees, especially when their average transaction is probably under $5. The girl who served me was pleasant enough and even offered to fetch more cookies from the back, but as I was ringing up one of the other staff members pushed a tray into the things I'd momentarily set on the counter so I could count change, no "excuse me" or any other acknowledgement. Though they weren't especially busy, I felt slightly rushed. Service could be better, but the staff is young, so perhaps they just need a reminder. I tried the vanilla and chocolate cannolis. It was only my 2nd time ever having cannoli so I am not the best judge of cannolis. The 1st time I ever had it was in Venice, Italy & they seemed stale/old. The ones here from Lyncourt tasted that way too so now I am confused if that is the authentic purposeful taste or if both of my experiences were just with older cannolis. I was confused what the filling was made of. It was buttery (but not in a good way, because if it was made with mostly butter then that's kind of gross). I know cannoli cream usually has some sort of cheese. I could kind of taste that. The chocolate one tasted better than the vanilla one. My BF only ate 1 of the 2 he got for himself because he really wasn't feeling it either. read more

Being from Syracuse, on a visit there recently I just had to come here and grab some pastries instead of from the usual downtown/northside bakeries. In my younger days of living in 'Cuse, I hate to admit that I've never been here. Soooo.... Well I won't be back. Not because the product was horrible (it wasn't great either), but because this lady behind the counter was THE rudest and most condescending twit I've ever encountered in a place of business. Blondish, 40ish something... an owner or an employee, who cares - she doesn't need to be serving the public. She either hates her life or hates people, thats obvious. She rolled her eyes for what seemed like forever before asking to help me. I couldn't distinguish which donuts had the custard or creme filling - so I asked her. Well you'd think I'd asked her to pull her own teeth out as she complicatedly mumbled about what was in the case. All I wanted was a couple custard filled donuts (not the white creme). She then said "well since you seem to have an expensive taste I figured you want the pastry type thing (whatever she was talking about)... I said no I just want a couple donuts please, can you just show me which ones those are. JEEZE. Adding a couple pasticiottis makes me an extravagant spender?? Wow. Huffing and rolling her eyes and moving like a slug as she boxed the stuff up, I'm like WHAT is her problem? I really REALLY just wanted a freaking donut at that moment or else I'd have told her to take her box and shove it ;) Let it be noted that as I walked in there was a guy behind the counter with this lady also complaining about a customer order as he hung up the phone and something about bread slicing and "next time they should realize about the slicing" etc... apparently this bakery doesn't like to slice bread from what I've read. Well, judging by that conversation, they obviously don't like to slice bread, hahaha! Forget this place, holmes. Their product isn't worth being made feeling like a piece of crap for. Here's the thing about Lyncourt: there isn't much in the area. So when we're lucky enough to have a bakery that is this good, we should be excited to have it. Unfortunately, the process is very uncomfortable because of the underage employees. I'm not someone to say "the new generation is lazy", and I know it's just select individuals, but management must not have strict rules with customer service. Lack of knowledge of all baked goods. What I was buying there, I liked a lot. I got 2 weeks ago some rolls for our Sunday breakfast, I asked for some with a crunchy crust and they tasted awesome. I have been going to Lyncourt Bakery for 20 years. We went there often when we lived on the North Side and it was GREAT! Since moving I haven't had the opportunity to get there very often but have gone three times in the past few months. I have been less than impressed with their baked goods. I went today when I was in the neighborhood and got bread, canollis, pusties and half moon cookies. The bread was as good as usual but the pastries were just AWFUL! The canolli and pusties shells were soggy and had a really weird taste to them absolutely disgusting! I threw them away, couldn't even eat them. The half moon was dry and crumbly. HORRIBLE SERVICE My husband went into get some items, there was an older womrn behind the counter. He asked for Italian cookies, she told him to get the ones premade. When he asked to pick them from the cases she refused to give him any containg almond paste, said the alomond paste were more. This is untrue because I have gone in several times and got a mix with alomond paste, there were almond paste also in the premade tray. He then got a loaf of bread to which she refused to slice because, and I quote "The phone is ringing, and there is a line so no I will not slice your bread".Keep in mind there were other people working.
