Dr. Tanzi is an outstanding dentist who embraces newer technologies to make for a better patient experience. I love the crown in a day! In several situations, she personally made sure I got to the right specialist and talked directly to them about my situation before and after my visit - great follow-through. Whenever I arrive at the office, I am consistently met by staff who truly seem enjoy their work, colleagues and patients. I am impressed and thankful for the great care and personal follow-ups I have received. Love this practice!

I called my insurance who confirmed there are NO such thing as "co-pays" with our dental plan! When I confronted the office manager and subsequently the dentist about this (after being a customer for 20 years), the dentist told me to "think of insurance as a coupon". I'm sorry but our Dental Insurance is not cheap and is in no way "a coupon". Their charges (and extra surcharges) for any type of dental work are astronomical because they are "Out of Network" with all insurance plans. They also added a ridiculous, rigid policy charging if you need to re-schedule an appt. They are now in it to milk every $ possible from you....very sad that they went this route!

I've been a patient of theirs since they first opened in 2013 and have noticed my patient…read moreexperience has been less than desirable these past couple if years. My routine teeth cleaning has always been with the use if an ultrasonic scaler as I am prone to heavy plaque & tartar buildup and has proven to always be effective. My last cleaning a month ago was done by a manual scraping instrument during the entire cleaning and asked to have water spray scaler used instead but was ignored. Also I was told i had a small abscess infection on upper gums and asked for an antibiotic to help reduce/eliminate it so as to not worsen while on vacation and they denied my request. Other issue i had at this practice was the high turnover rate with the many different dental hygienists that have gone through the revolving door. As soon as I found one that I really liked she was gone by next cleaning which I get done 3X/year. Lastly, I am finding the original dentists who opened the practice are hardly present in the office any more only to be replaced by more different and new dentists which doesnt help cultivate a consistent and familiar rapport patient-dental provider relationship. I guess gone are those days...and oh by the way this dental office does NOT accept my dental insurance plan as of late for ANY dental service.

Every 5 minutes, she was reiterating her point. I get it, lady, I am an adult and of above average intelligence. I do not need you to keep making your point. When she likened scaling my teeth to "scraping barnacles off a boat" I knew that I'd never return again. Why would she feel the need to shame the patient? But it got worse. The hygienist was really ruthless in her cleaning. And just when I thought she'd finished, she said, "That was the first pass. Now I'm going to go back for the second pass." Why was she not doing it right the first time? Never have I been to the dentist and had such a painful and debasing experience. I stopped her before she could polish my teeth and "teach me how to floss and brush my teeth." I am 37 years old, with a mouth full of teeth....I think I've figured out how to do those two things by now! I was already annoyed at the administrative side of this practice as they require you to pay for services upfront and then you have to collect reimbursement from your insurance company. This is inconvenient as then you have to take a check to be deposited, but it also points out how over-priced Portnoff's practice is as her fees consistently exceed the allowable deductions. My family will be finding a new dentist and I caution yours against going here.

Later I get a statement from my insurance company with my expected out of pocket expense. What I paid was more than my expected out of pocket. I called the office to clarify, and was told that not everything was run through the insurance because it wouldn't be covered. This was not a cosmetic procedure, it should have been covered and definitely should have been submitted to my insurance. (Counts towards max out of pocket) Very sketchy billing practices. I followed each step of their process, including an initial cleaning, xrays, a fitting appt, and an additional cleanings - all separate visits they required before moving forward. On the day of that appointment, I encountered unexpected traffic and called ahead to let the office know I would be approximately 15-20 minutes late. I was told that was not a problem and was rescheduled for another time that same day. However, shortly afterward, I was informed that the practice no longer wished to have me as a patient. This was extremely surprising and disappointing. I was told I would receive a referral to another provider, but I never received any follow-up communication. What made the experience even more frustrating was the lack of communication after my dismissal from the practice. I had to send multiple emails requesting my dental records before receiving a response. When I finally did hear back, there was no acknowledgment of my questions, no explanation regarding my treatment status, no referral information, and no guidance on next steps. The response consisted only of a code to access my records. There was no discussion of continuity of care or any clear exit plan to help me transition to another provider. As a result, I am now forced to start the entire process over with a new provider after investing significant time and effort into meeting Elite Dental's requirements. I trusted this practice with my care and was committed to moving forward with treatment. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled felt unprofessional, lacked basic patient communication, and left me without the treatment plan I had spent months working toward. Up until this last week, I was planning to recommend this practice a friend. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice

At one appointment he told me he was okay with it as long as I didn't hold him responsible for some catastrophic dental issue that might arise from my lack of X-rays, but the following appointment 6 months later, he became very aggressive and told me I could not come back unless I agreed to his X-ray requirements. So obviously I did not return. And the fact that at first he was okay with very limited X-rays and then the next appointment he wasn't and was much more aggressive... tells me it was more about the money and not really that something could go horribly and inexplicably wrong without X-rays. I always found him a bit aggressive... maybe short-man complex... but, in fairness, he was a good dentist otherwise. Good luck.

This place is AWESOME! You may think I am crazy.. why would I say a dentist office is awesome?…read more Well I'll tell you.. I went in for the first time on Monday, as I moved from CT and needed to find a new dentist. Dr. Tutin had such good reviews I figured I would give them a shot. I am really picky about my teeth and I am SO glad I decided to come here! I was warmly greeted by both the receptionist and the office manager when I walked in at 9am. They are both very sweet ladies. I sat down for less than 10 seconds before I was brought to the room with Emily, who was another very sweet woman. (I have never NOT had to wait at a doctor's office- so this was already a good sign for me.) She cleaned my teeth the best out of anyone who has in the past. How do I know this? My teeth were still sore 36 hours later. It wasn't a bad sore- it was one of those good sores when you know they really did a good job! Now here's where the fun comes in.. after Emily was finished, she brought in Dr. Tutin, who was extremely nice and seemed genuinely interested when asking me questions about my life as well as my past dental history (obviously). He also noticed on my chart that in a couple days I would be celebrating my birthday... and not only did I get a sweet new toothbrush.. but Dr. Tutin gave me another gift for my birthday- tickets to my favorite sports team and favorite place on this planet. WOW! He is honestly my favorite man! I have recommended his office to everyone I have come in contact with the past 2 days and I am recommending him to you! If you're looking for a new dentist in the Framingham area- this guy is your guy!!! Their office is right off of the pike and very easy to find and they are very kind, approachable, and will work hard. They also stressed to me that they will never do something that my insurance doesn't cover without running it by me first.. even if it was $0.55.. they still won't do anything without telling me. I LOVED that! People- GO TO THIS DENTIST OFFICE! THEY ARE THE BEST
