The staff is great, and just as importantly Dr. Himelhoch cares. There have been at least two incidents where I called in while the office was closed for vacation, and she called back personally and met me in her office outside of work hours. For us, we were looking for someone with the education and experience that she has for our kid's braces. Nothing bad to say, sometimes busy and you have to wait a little but they do keep things moving in the office.

The staff and dental hygienists were completely exceptional, and it is unfortunate that Dr…read more Himelhoch was utterly terrible. She had terrible interaction skills with my 4 year old who is new to a dental office (2nd/3rd time). My child had a cavity identified during the initial visit that needed to be addressed. We came back over for the follow up where initially with the [perfectly lovely and child-centered] hygienist, we were told that my child could sit on my lap to make the experience more comfortable for her. The dentist proceeded to come in, and told us it wasn't going to work like that and that she would have to sit on her own to get the procedure done. I don't know if anyone else has ever dealt with 4 year olds, but when one set of expectations is set and then pulled off the table, it typically doesn't go well. As I was comforting her, I can hear Dr. Himelhoch in the background tell my child "Well, you don't really have an option" AS MY CHILD IS CRYING. Then, she proceeded to ask if I needed assistance in restraining my child to get her in the seat. Finally, when my child is inconsolable, she suggested getting the infant lap seat. If that was an option, why wasn't that the initial suggestion instead of waiting for the inconsolable child to get to that level. When I finally told them I did not want to go forward to it today as it was out of control at that point, she then proceeded to address my child with a "I'm very disappointed in you for making this so difficult for you mom." WHAT?!?

Our visit was to the orthodontist. Be wary of committing your child's orthodontics work to an…read moreextremely profit-oriented practice. The office did an initial quick 3D computer imaging and gave a quick estimate of the treatment: $5000 to $6700, a wide range. The doctor/office then assured us that the actual cost was going to be closer to $5000 due to the short treatment in our case. However, in order to get an "accurate" estimate, we must allow a technician to take "records", which means an expensive x-ray. This x-ray fee would be written off if we decide to go ahead with the treatment. Because the doctor/office had already assured us that the cost most likely would be $5000, we went ahead with the full-mouth x-ray. After a few days, the office manager emailed back the treatment plan. It turned out to be $6500. She also claimed that the cost was never based on the length of the service as promised. Obviously, we would lose the x-ray fee if we do not proceed with their treatment. This practice was trying to make profit by taking many "records" that do not require much of doctor's time. They bait potential patients with a false initial estimate in order to switch to an "accurate" estimate that costs a lot. If you decide to have treatment with them due to proximity, just know that it will be at the high-end of the initial estimate. Their words are not consistent and do not take responsibility in conveying them. Again, be wary of committing your child's orthodontics work to an extremely profit-oriented practice.

We always get a reminder call from the front staff, which is helpful. The hygienist and dentist are so patient and kind and they make the visit fun for my daughter. They called my mothers phone that does not belong to me asking me to "confirm my appointment", I called this morning 4 hours before my appointment to verify the time (not knowing I had to confirm) when I was told the "gave my appointment to someone else because I did not call within 48 hours", when I 1. Was never told to confirm the appointment when booking, and 2. Received a call to confirm my appointment less than 24 hours before my scheduled time. The lady on the phone was extremely unprofessional, my sister who had an appointment that day as well had called to confirm her appointment an hour prior to going in, and when she arrived the receptionist began to explicitly talk about me to her coworker saying this was the sister of the girl who called earlier and proceeded to roll her eyes. I had told her when I called that this was ridiculous and that I would be going somewhere else. My sister had to change the insurance on file when the receptionist looked at her and said "should I do this for your sister too or is she actually going somewhere else or was it a heat of the moment", no it was not the "heat of the moment", I have been going there for 7 years and have never missed an appointment and they want to disregard my time. I live 45 mins away had I driven to the dentist it would have been a waste of time they did not even care to let me know they gave up the appointment. I will be going to Franklin Dental who did a MUCH better job fitting me into their schedule.
