Interesting things they sell at the store

Highly recommend place to pick apples, pears, and other fruit. They also have a store to buy interesting products or pick up their delicious baked goods. There's a corn maze, train rides, and more. The people are friendly and the grounds are big. There's fresh air and you're surrounded by scenic views.

Vegan wrap delicious. Portabello mushrooms and hummus

Five for the following: CT touristy Harvest Week Vegan wrap Apple cider But the breakdown PARKING I've been during the off season and it's painless to park here. Today was maybe the kickoff to harvest month and some events. IT WAS PACKED. Not to worry, everyone was civilized and there were plenty of attendants. Lots of parking all over. SERVICE Everyone to a person was ready for this crazy rush. Filled with kids and regulars, I think the staff knows what to expect cuz they were all pretty chill. FOOD First: The sandwiches and wraps came with chips AND AN APPLE. Perfect. Dad had the Cuban Sandwich (I've never seen it on a pumpernickel and rye swirl bread) but he loved it. Vegan Macintosh wrap with Portabello and hummus was fantastic. Hit the spot for a cool autumn day. GIFTS Maple sugar candy isn't made here anymore, but the candy is made by a larger company out of New Hampshire. DONUTS They didn't run out of apple donuts today, but they were definitely a hit with almost everyone. ACTIVITIES Today was an event day, with hundreds of families taking part in Clydesdale Horse wagon rides, kiddie train rides, and lots of other family activities. (Seasonal) If you're in the Middlesex area - put it on your list.

Wonderful visit to the Lyman PIck Your Own Orchards on a late Saturday morning in mid-September. We've visited lots of Pick Your Own Orchards over the years and most have transitioned over into a festival-styled space with offerings including hayrides, playgrounds and pettings zoos, all for a premium all-inclusive price. Depending on the family, this may not be ideal for some. Some also have, sometimes unreasonable, picking requirements...such as each member of the group over a certain age MUST purchase a picking bag...which, for a family of four, would result in an expensive family visit to the orchard with LOTS of leftover and unused apples. Again, this may not be ideal for some. Lyman was a breath of fresh air. Their entire operation is quite massive and separated: pick your own orchards, massive farm shop, golf center, and pub/grill are in different locations within their entire property. We arrived to the Pick Your Own Orchards area at around 11am on a lovely Saturday morning in mid-September. We expected it to be busy but it wasn't...there were lots ot parking (free) spaces in the dirt/grassed lot and even the picking orchards weren't very crowded...lots of space to pick. After parking, we went to the stand to purchase our picking bag. The options, currently, are $16 for half-peck bag, $26 for a full-peck bag and $47 for half-bushel. For our family, two adults and one small child, we shared a full-peck bag (no "per-person" requirement) which fit about 9 pounds of apples. After choosing our bag, we proceeded to the ochards to pick. There were Gala, McIntosh, Blondee, Jonamac, Spencer and Honey Crisp apples to choose from. Lots of trees to select from at that time...both on the higher and lower branches were available. All staff we encountered, including the parking lot and payment counter attendants were friendly, helpful and efficient. They post updates regularly (sometimes every few hours) on all of their social media platforms and have a hotline, which is very helpful, particularly for harvest and weather updates. Their detailed and thorough website has lots of information so you know what do expect during your visit. Again, great time here at Lyman's no-nonsense PIck-Your-Own Orchards. I can understand why they have been voted the (and among the best) orchards in Connecticut and the entire Nation. We also visited their Farm Store which was also great. Huge store with lots to choose from including fresh product, jarred jams and syrups, and sizeable hot food and bakery sections. Very reasonable prices throughout. After you are finished shopping, there are lots of tables and chairs toward the back of the building where you can sit, relax an eat. There is also a ice-cream window there with some interesting flavors. Would love to return to check out some of their other offerings. The two-hour drive from NYC was definitely worth it!

It's always the best time at Lyman this time of year! I have made it a tradition to go every year to pick out pumpkins in the patch and now picking apples from the orchards too. They sell different sized bags so you pay one price and fill the bag. It's a lot of fun and a little mini workout. No visit would be complete without a stop in the store to get some more goodies. Their apple cider donuts are fresh and amazing and they sell really great local honey too. Highly recommend this place for a fun autumn outing! They also have themed corn mazes every year and other outdoor activities lined up.

I always love coming to Lyman orchards to get the fresh baked pies and pastries. Around the holidays it tends to be busier. A lot of quality farm fresh food and local produce

The Apple barrel is a very beautiful shop with several grocery, produce, bakery, and other food items. I tried a few items such as their chocolate milk, the stuffed pizza bread, the apple cider donut w/ cinnamon, and a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head. Overall the service was pretty quick considering how packed it was at every corner you turned. I will definitely be back next year a bit earlier so that I can try picking my own apples!

There is much more in the Barrel than apples... The Lyman Orchards Apple Barrel is a fall must do every year. Not only do you get to enjoy apples, fritters, donuts, and cider, there are other local produce and products to discover. It smelled so good of apples and cinnamon, yum! There is a bakery, lunch and sandwich counter, coffee and cider, and hand-scooped ice cream from Big Dipper. The building is iconic, a bright red and round building. I have a few memories of visiting here as a kid. It's a tiny store and will get crazy busy during the fall season. Luckily, we were visiting during the week and were able to easily walk and browse around. They are open year round if you want to visit during off season--there is something happening at the orchard.

Here we are like every year in our favorite farm. Everything so accessible and fresh. This year treat was a New Heaven pizza and a tex mex food truck . Delicious We noticed an increase of visitors because the line for the bakery was all the way outside to the parking lot. We couldn't believe it. the Corn Maze and the rides for the kids are always open. Our kids grew up visiting this place and never getting tired of it.

As I pull up, I'm astonished with how busy it is. I'm looking for a sweet treat and I've read these cannolis are to die for. It is prime (or shall I say peak) fall and so I understand the time to celebrate with pumpkin & apple picking and everything is now... But there are so many people I thinking the place was evacuating! I then pulled out and attempted to go to another entrance... and same thing! Here is a relative "lull". Anyway I wholly backed-in-parked while I had a good view of the spot. (Lots of little people and families about ... little people meaning kids.) They have many people directing traffic through the parking lot. I observed what I think was a horse ride. Overall I'm extremely impressed with the size of the Lyman orchards fall operations. There are thousands of people here right now (not an exaggeration.. I don't think) and it's all quite calm! Space is plentiful & place is beautiful.

Always a great time in the corn maze! I love the 2025 theme: pizza!! The people at the entrance of the corn maze, and all the volunteers inside are super nice and smiling this year. Great experience! Bad experience with the outside vendors , the kettle popcorn, rude customer service unfortunately and the bathrooms could use a little bit more attention. Other than that it's a fun place.

Lyman Orchards is a popular fall destination in Connecticut. I had read that it's impossibly busy on weekends so I visited on a weekday with my sister for lunch. It was still busy but probably not as hectic as on the weekends. They sell fresh fruit, produce and bakery items so we bought some things while there. The sandwiches were pretty good. Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy your lunch.

Amazing orchards with a farm store called the Apple barrel. In the Apple barrel you can Always find the best apples around ! They have the best apple cider , apple pies and much much more. My favorite is the Apple crumble pie! It's delicious! You really can't go wrong with any pie you buy here. Overall products and service here are great! Don't forget to grab an apple cider donut at the bakery stand. They are a must!

Came today with a group of friends, we met up at the Apple Barrel, where they had plenty of activities to do. Today there was a Jerry's Pizza Truck, a petting zoo, and of course the corn maze! Which is in the shape of a pizza this year. Reasonable prices and a great experiences. The store was packed full of goodies and people! The ice cream was great! Highly recommend the double Oreo which is essentially cookies and cream flavor.

Nice spot. Great food. Very interesting atmosphere. Prices a shade high but not offensive. I think it's worth it for the experience.

Ask the Community - Lyman Orchards

Are the apple picking and sunflower maze open with any Covid restrictions ? Masks, spacing, number restrictions?…

I think there were signs about wearing masks in the Sunflower maze, however I don't know how strictly the 2 teenagers that work the money-booth were enforcing it. Everyone looked pretty spaced out due to the nature of what the maze is.

What time are they open today?

9am-6pm
