First time having a guy do my nails, but his technique was very good, and my nails lasted a full 3.5 weeks before they started to peel (and after an Alaska cruise). Typically, they may last 2 weeks. DO NOT GO HERE! I was in area and decided to go try them out and have my eyebrows waxed-BAD IDEA. I have bumps/rash around my entire eyebrows, yes both. Secondly, I get to register to pay and asked if it was card/cash and answered card. The lady at register response with you will get charged $1 to use card because it is under $10. I'm from NY so the way our pedicures are done I have to say I appreciate way more after this experience. The lady was very nice but her "massage" and her "scrub" was horrible. I was watching everyone and I think they all do it this way. Houston .. come to NY to get a pedicure and you won't be disappointed at all. I wouldn't even attempt nails out here I would have a fit. Late review, I had been visiting this nail shop for about three months and never experienced what I experienced on July 13th. I was preparing for my birthday party, later this Friday night. I came into the business, looking for the regular nail tech who normally does my nails and toes, but she was on vacation. This would have been my second time, trying the dip nails. Well, they ask me to sit with a young lady, and I mean young lady that was supposed to be a master nail tech. As she was doing my dips, I informed her that she was not going all the way to my cuticles and it already looks as if I need a new set, and she was completing them. So she dipped them in the powder again but was upset about me wanting them all the way to my cuticles. (What she should have been upset with was she didn't know what she was doing.) A lady sat next to me on my right in a booth, to be serviced next and ask me how did I like the dip nails. I told her this was my second time getting them done, and the lady Rachel who did them the first time, I like them when she did them, but was not pleased with this young lady. I had previously informed her I had another appointment, (when I sat down a hour and half to 45 minutes ago) and it was already past that time, I would return to let her fix them. The nail tech went besirck, she started saying with powder on my hand, not buffed or completed: Go Ahead. You said you are coming back, go ahead and leave. It will be easier to fix when you come back, if I don't finish them.You said you don't like my work. I in return said: you better finish my set, I'll pay and then leave, you are not going to send me out half done, if I'm coming back or not. She kept going with: go ahead and leave. I will fix when you come back, and informed the Male owner of what was transpiring. I in return said to her: You don't hear me do you? I don't have to like your work, and you need to get out your feelings, everyone is not going to like your work and I have a choice of whose work I prefer. She unkindly, and roughly attempted to finish my nails, as I informed her to get a grip on her customer service. She completed my nails, horrible work, and they were messed up of course. Le is pretty good. Only thing, is when I go in thinking I'm going to pay one thing they charge me smthing else. Today I went in for a shellac Polish change, but Le did a manicure. 2 things I look for when I'm searching for a nail salon- technicians who do good nails & DESIGNS! I arrived on a Thursday afternoon to get a refill. I was immediately greeted, chose a color and seated. The tech seemed pretty young. Before she finished I asked about designs, she laughed and said they really don't do designs. I referred to the sign outside that says 'Nail Designs' and pictures I viewed on their page prior to arrival. The tech said if I had a picture they may can do it. Huh? I asked what their prices were on designs and she couldn't give a definite price. I asked if designs were 2/$5 like most places? She thought for a second and said yes. Lol ok ma'am. Really 3.5 stars Soooo.... bought a Yelp voucher $50 for $75. I don't know if they are still available but (1) you have to call 24 hours in advance to make an appt (2) there isn't much to make it to $75 Made a 10 am appt on a Saturday morning and still had to wait 30 min. The shop is clean and looks well maintained. The workers don't do much talking .... to you or each other. I got a young lady name Vi and she was very nice and soft spoken. Since I had the voucher I got the top of the line pedicure and manicure. The pedi I got also had the hot wax (which I love), a lot of massaging and hot stones. Vi did a good job. The only issue was my regular nail shop normally has a match for my shellac color on my nails. She had a hard time finding one so I ended up going with a different toe color. The manicure also included the hot wax and massaging. The only issue I had was after I left I noticed that the shellac color wasn't very dark and that she prob should have done another coat. It was partially my fault bc I'm so use to my normal shop taking care of me . I wanted an eyebrow pluck and trim with no waxing but apparently no one was available to do this. That was prob for the best. When I was leaving, the guy who took my money said I actually was getting $8 back (of a gift certificate). That was very nice. Overall it was a good experience. I may come back but I still love my normal spot. I wanted to try some place different (and closer). If you live in the area, it's definitely worth a try. read more

Located in a rather tired looking strip mall north of 34th street, LV Nails doesn't seem like much of a destination for luxury or pampering. But when I saw the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I decided to give them a try. The shop has a rather plain interior with few decorations. The place could probably use a new coat of paint and some refreshed ceiling tiles, but the furnishings seemed quite clean and relatively new. The staff greeted me quickly and there was no wait for a manicure. They displayed a wide selection of Essie polishes and featured dozens of shellac options as well. As stated in many other reviews, the nail technician did a great job--quick and meticulous. A shellac manicure on natural nails will run you $27. I believe a shellac polish change is $17. I will probably be back but I won't choose it as a place to go for a special day with friends or anything. read more

Love that this nail salon was open on a Sunday until 6 and open until 7 on certain week days which is perfect for those with busy schedules. I came in a bit before 5 on a Sunday for a basic Mani/pedi and was taken care of immediately. To expedite the process, while i was getting my pedicure another technician worked on my nails. Definitely cut the time in half! They offer you a beverage during your service which is a nice touch and have tons of different colors to choose from. Customer Service: Their customer service is great and it's the only reason I'm giving 3 stars. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I went in on a Saturday morning before Mother's Day and it was packed. However, I was greeted as soon as I walked in and accommodated for a pedicure right away. Pedicure: I paid extra for a pedicure package that included a 15 minute hot stone massage. Usually this massage is my favorite part of going to get a pedicure and I was ready to relax. WRONG! The massage Sophia gave me was painful. She painfully pulled and twisted my toes. She beat my legs with her fist. She used the stones' edges rather than the smooth flat side to "massage" my calfs. I kept flinching and finally asked her to stop. I was very much disappointed. She did do a good job with polishing though. She applied even coats. And she was very nice. Manicure: I didn't get the name of the gentleman that did my manicure but he was very nice too. His polishing job was good but that's where it ends. I had to ask him to push my cuticles back because he was ready to start polishing but hadn't touched my cuticles. Then he surprised me by using the machine that they use to sand down the nail ON MY CUTICLES!! I have never experienced this before but I didn't say anything and gave him the benefit of the doubt. I trusted that he knew what he was doing. He is the professional after all. But by the end of my manicure I was disappointed. I was told that the lady doing my nails was hungry; she definitely didn't seem like she wanted to be there. It only took her about 10 minutes and I wasn't impressed. I am LIVID! I originally needed to remove my dipping full set and wanted a manicure/shellac set. My top layer of skin got SERIOUSLY irritated and dried like nobody's business. The process is the same like at any other place Pick a color wait and shazam! Right? Not today ! Peter was assigned after 35 mins of having all 10 fingers soaked in FULL out ACETONE. They did not, wrap the piggy fingers in foil, drop a few alcohol drops to help remove the top layer of paint. At this point, I'm irritated. I turn down the manicure/shellac and just need to get the HELL out! Walk up to the counter, "Peter" says "It's $10 for removal and $5 for manicure". I give him a $20, I'm like I am not leaving a tip! He looks at me and says "Thank you". I'm like I'm sorry, you said it's $15. He replied, said no it's $20. I said you know what it's covid, everybody is having a difficult time. Let it be and the universe will help me in return. I walked away. My heart of hearts, Working from a customer service industry....Let me just share my experience with the acetone. It really affected my skin. So I called just now, and to my surprise Peter answers, he tells me the manager is not there today and he doesn't know when she will return. He saids, tell me what you want to tell her. So now, instead of telling the manager. Yelp, Google and the WORLD is about to know more than just the acetone and how disappointing Peter handled the check out process.
