The other weird thing about the Crow Bar, a rock bar in Cascais and not in Bairro Alto, is that it's customer base doesn't appear to be long-haired metalheads. We first went in the summer of 2016 and we were very happy to go back (quite a few times) in September, 2018. Bruno is a good bartender and very friendly (in his own way). His colleague, a very pretty, tattooed lady, was a bit shy but nice. Where else can you get a caneca and a bottle of Heineken for a total of only €4.50? I'll tell you where - the bar across from the train station in Tunes (Silves) down in the south of Portugal! But you won't hear any rock and roll there! I don't know who owns this bar but my God, I hope they make enough money here to keep it open. We're rockers and even if it isn't a rock crowd (when we've been there), at least it's rock! And beer! Cheap beer!

I got to chat with the owner for a bit and he was really nice and passionate about his business. All in all, if you live or are visiting the area, check out Na Medida and enjoy a few crafts with great artesanal pizza.

As we were still taking off our clothes and preparing to head in, a woman named Camini suddenly stormed out in a rage and threatened to kick us out. Her behavior was shockingly rude and aggressive. I've never in my life been treated with such disrespect. When I went inside to clarify the situation, she threw a tantrum for no reason and started yelling that she was the owner. Throughout the entire encounter, we remained calm, but we were humiliated in front of others - all within just two minutes of arriving. We ended up paying 40 euros just to be yelled at and disrespected. This experience ruined the start of our beach day, and we will be warning others not to visit this place if they want a pleasant experience. Avoid it.

We were staying in a beautiful Airbnb just up the hill northwest a mile. We could see Guincho, but Bar do Guincho is tucked up just off the beach with a big beautiful open deck with glass railings. Other outdoor sections are more protected from the frequent wind, and then there is a great room indoors with a big fireplace for the off season. Service was awesome. Each table had a unique QR code on a caddy that allowed you to not just see the menu but order at your own pace and also pay at the end. They also offer regular table service for curmudgeons and luddites. (just joking!) We ordered the delicious passion fruit sangria and it arrived in 5 minutes. All of our food was excellent, particulary the Portuguese fried shrimp (sauteed to Americans!) and the ceviche. The fries and bread were also delicious. You will not find a more beautiful view or a better vibe. We never go back to the same place during a short visit but we hit Bar do Guincho twice in three days. Can't wait to return next visit!
