Even though I always tip 20%, being pressured publicly like that felt like I was being bullied into tipping more or made me question if I do enough - either way it was a negative experience. It's unprofessional to put clients on the spot this way. Between this and the 3% convenience fee for using a card, it feels like this salon cares more about squeezing every penny out of you than the actual client experience.

But I was unaware that there was a problem. The front desk people were cold to the point of rudeness. The only thing I emphasized to the stylist is that my hair needed to still be long enough to put it in a ponytail. Long story short, the next day after washing it, it is not..it will take 2-3 month to grow out. I called hoping to talk to a manger. Again the front desk person was pretty rude. Would tell me she couldn't understand me because I was muffled, so id raise my volume and she said she wouldn't talk to me because I was shouting. This went back and forth several times. Finally she said she'd give me an email address. I was driving and couldn't write it down. Told her I had no paper or pen..she finally agreed to give the manager a message. Long story shortish, never got an apology for my frustrations. The only thing offered was a no added cost cut to "fix" it. Oy, cutting off more is not the problem. So sadly, after years of good service. I will never go back because of the poor front desk staff and that the manager also has a communication style I personally find triggering and not at all conflict soothing. I was overcharged!…read more I scheduled a hair and makeup appointment for prom. Ultimately on the day of my appointment I decided on a style I saw in a picture and showed my stylist. My stylist explained to me it would just be my hair curled and then a Bobby pin to pull a front section back. My hair turned out nicely, but only if I knew that one Bobby pin cost me $25!!! I think that is a little unreasonable because if I were told that one Bobby pin would make my total $25 more expensive, I would have not paid for it. Also to mention that when I was checked in, nobody offered me anything to drink. This would not have been a problem if the lady checked in after me wasn't politely greeted, offered, and served a glass of water. Perhaps it was my age, but regardless, I am a paying customer. Considering I waited 30 minutes for my appointment to start, it was infuriating that somebody who waited 5 minutes got water in that short amount of time. My makeup did turn out nicely. And so did my hair! But perhaps being older would have made my experience more enjoyable.

I get very anxious about hair cuts often because I feel like I have difficulty communicating what I want. Alice is very approachable and she gave me advice on what styles would or wouldnt work with my face and hair type. (A good stylist should be able to say no if they can see a certain cut won't work for your hair type... I really appreciate that!) She helped me figure out what would work and then gave me wonderful cute bangs. I may never go back to long front hair again.
