We came shortly before it changed hands and had the best sandwich, fries and coffee.... omg the coffee was the best I'd had in Cheyenne since we got here. Loved the meal so much we came back again only to find the Diner had changed ownership. Our next meals were the same as the first time because they were so good.... but I'm afraid they were not as good the second time around. At that time we agreed that the meal was just "ok" and my disappointment in the coffee was palatable (I love coffee). I wouldn't mind trying it one more time but I have to convince someone else..... and he is no longer a fan. Plus: Very cute Diner, waitresses and hostess were very nice. Clean place. read more

We stopped in for breakfast on our way to Tensleep. We sat for 30 minutes at a table before our order was taken and waited another 45 for the food - even after we told the server we were on a schedule and needed to leave. We paid the check before our food arrived and had to get it to go. The food was ok, but not worth the wait. This is definitely not a place to go unless you have the whole morning to spend on a basic breakfast. read more

Luxury Diner under the previous owner was awesome! It was a regular Saturday morning family breakfast choice! The food was wonderful and who can say anything negative about their incredible Cinnamon rolls (unless you didn't like how large they were). We would order one for the whole family to share prior to receiving our breakfast. However, it has been sold to new owners. I have been there one time (after a period of the new owners getting established) and it was a horrible experience! The food had no flavor, the bread was hard, the service was poor! The staff was not friendly like it was under the old owners. I will not return to what used to be a favorite place to go! read more

Very good. The gravy taste homemade. Biscuit was flaky cooked like their supposed to be. And the sausage links had a crispy outer edge they were good as well. Hash browns were cooked just right. And of coarse the eggs you really can't mess those up. The wait staff was awesome very friendly. This was the first time I've eaten here. I come here every time it hails here. This is a great place to eat. The place is small but the food is amazing and the staff is great. The value for the dollar is outstanding with a lot more food then you get any place else for a lot less money. When we went in there were no tables available but were told that if we didn't mind we could sit at a table with 2 older gentleman, we did just that and had one of the best conversations with those 2 guys. If you get a chance to stop and have breakfast see if there is room at the table with "The Mikes" it will be a dining experience you will never forget. read more

The food was decent (we had the huevos rancheros and biscuits and gravy) but we waited over an hour to receive our food. There was no acknowledgement from the staff regarding the wait, and it was simply confusing how they could manage to have such poor service. We were seated in view of the kitchen and the plates came out at an alarmingly slow rate. Passing through Cheyenne. Found this place on Yelp. They are currently open for take out. I just picked up a kielbasa skillet with green chili sauce with a pancake for the side and German sausage and eggs with sourdough toast. Everything has fantastic flavor and was good and hot. We went in there on Memorial Day when most places were closed. Talk about slammed, but this place was slinging hash like champs. The old railroad car thing is really played up, but it's pretty neat to look around. It has the look of a place past it's prime, but the staff keeps the floor and the tables immaculately clean. Big plus there. If you're an upperclass suburbanite, you might cringe at the kitsch and crust. But if you know the value of getting your hands dirty for a living... brother you're in the right place. As for the food? I got a biscuits and gravy dish. The gravy was good stuff. Everything was piping hot and super tasty. Does it make sense to say that the gravy had depth of flavor? Like maybe somebody is cutting some bacon fat into it rather than just adding more flour. I don't know, but it's aces to me. The cook knows how to do a good sunny side up egg for sure. While we didn't grab one, they had those cinnamon rolls that look about the size of your head. A trip to the gym is mandatory if you're going that route. I have to say I was most impressed with the staff. They were super friendly, and their interactions with the regulars made you feel good about the direction of humanity in general. I am always looking for restaurants that combine lots of character with great food and service. We flew into the Cheyenne airport and asked for a recommendation from a person who worked there. We checked his recommendation on yelp and saw it good reviews, so decided to go. The Diner is not luxury--but that's what makes it great. It'a an old train car converted into a restaurant---a quaint hole in the wall. Service was great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was awesome. Last, loved the food. Stopped in Saturday on the way to eclipse and enjoyed my meal. The place is small, but we were on a waitlist and got sat within 10 minutes. The food was great. What stood out to me was the fried pickle appetizer and the desserts. The environment was exactly what I was expecting, nothing fancy but fresh, good tasting food. The prices were great too. This place can be hard to find unless you find the big yellow light out front. Ok, so somewhat difficult for out of towners. Inside this place is cozy, literally. There are two sections, one being the restaurant and the other is the caboose. Portions were enough to take home, and I was ready for a big brunch. In a good way my wish came true and I ended up walking out with some. Waitress was attentive as was the owner who was always walking around. But sadly there were a few cons that brought this place down. One is the private parking lot that's shared with the next door motel. There are no lines to dictate spots. Instead just hope that where you park the person next to you will give enough space to get out/in. The second biggest issue is that it is quite literally cozy. People with disabilities will have an extremely hard time maneuvering around. My anxiety picked up where I was forced to focus on my food to not get overwhelmed. People who have big claustrophobic will have issues as well. This is not an ADA friendly place to eat. We couldn't see how a wheelchair or walker would be able to get through. And forget about bringing a service dog. Absolute to place for him/her. Recommended? Yes but I would like to come a lot earlier and try to get out before the huge breakfast crowds come in. read more

I am actually trying to get a hold of an old friend of mine that lives in your fair community. His name is Eric M Todd and he is married to the charming and beautiful Cindy. Many Years ago (Circa late 1980, my ex wife Barbara and I drove to Cheyenne to spend some time with the Todd's and their two darling children. My history is simple, both Eric and I attended MSU during the late 1970's and graduated from that respected institution in the early 1980's. Ok some background. In 1976 the College certification board saw fit to put the university under academic probation most likely due to the fact our football team screwed up and won 2 division-2 NCAA championship (.... Baaddd!!!) .... We didn't know any better ... those titles are reserved for U of M programs and Marshal University. As a result the school launched an austerity measure similar to what MIT does to their freshman and sophomore students to weed out the ranks ..... They flunk half of the students in any of the technical classes during the first 2 years. So for us, it was a starting freshman survey class in chemistry which had 5 sections of 500 people and that population would weed down to make a class of ... maybe !!!! ............. !!!! 18 students at the beginning of the junior year. It was not uncommon to hear Dr Coughlin or any one of his ilk profess to the next incoming class. " Look to your right! ... Now look to your left!. At the end of this quarter, 50 percent of you will be gone or maybe ??? you could attempt to pass the class again (muttering always under his breath ... I don't know why any of you would want to do this?) For myself the motivation was simple ... Become a Doctor and watch the playboy bunnies flock to the door. I had to just survive the serpentine gauntlet of Advanced Math, Biology Chemistry and Physics for two full years plus a couple additional gnarly quarters in my junior year. What the heck. I was young. I was invincible and I did not have a girl friend (most important)... And as Paul Harvey would say ... Sooo for the rest of the story ...... 50 percent of the women population at the school attend a very good nursing program. The first two years for the nursing ladies "and thooose sspeccialll meenn" were taking classes in Bozeman. The next two years of upper division work was spent out of the city in other hospitals around the state doing clinical. Smart use of resources you might say .... Noway!! The campus was structured to house between 8 thousand to 8,500 students. What the student loading was at that point in time was over 12,000 students and climbing. The administration was happy to flunk students and furlough out the nursing students ... It was enough to make a young man cry!... Well ... I know ... I did !!!! Except there was an un-for-seen consequence that caught the athletic program in the switches. The new academic policy placed half of the scholarship student football players on academic probation ... No fault of their own !!! Yes!!!! I did my part to comfort the saddened cheerleaders. What fun!!!! On with the story ... You are asking what about Eric? So going into my sophomore and junior year I meet up with Eric Todd who is a great funny charismatic guy. Everyone warns me .... "ohhh nooo Luke ... You don't want to room with that guy. He has hot and cold running women around him all the time!! You will never get your studying done!." "What I say ..... All the time???" Ok, so I am a good math student, an excellent science student who excels in gene probability theory calculations and I am being instructed by my peers ... and get this ..... 1) "You are at a school for whatever reason there are "10" Guys for every "1" Gal (available or not!) .. and 2) An opportunity to room with a guy .... for what reason has hot and cold running women in and out of the place all year long. The Jeopardy Theme song comes on ..... "Alex ... What are hot running women and their problems for 20 points ... My feet circulation is not sooo good in the winter months as the temperature lowers to below -50 and the wind is blowing at 85 MPH. I hope you understand!!! Are you kidding me! .... What a great and only choice!! So after graduation, Eric and I go our separate ways. I go to Southern California to the rat race. Eric .... Hmmm ... Marries Cindy has two beautiful children. He also launches a successful financial service career and for what reason, his social media skills makes it impossible for old friends like me to find him .... You will say .. Hey, you can get on Intelius and pay 30 dollars forever per month to get connected. An I can pay 30 dollars to them infinitum to get family information I already have.. .Nope ....
