They have the best customer service. Everyone here again is just simply professional and nice. They make you feel welcome and get you taken care of in a timely manner. My experience here was mixed, mostly negative but not completely. To start, I understand we are in a pandemic and this office has the right to be ultra conservative. But I showed up for a quick exam with my 2 yo son and this is the first business I've been to requiring him to have one they wouldn't let us in the door without a mask. Fine but they also didn't provide any? So I had to leave and get one for him. Next they had told me they weren't able to connect with my insurance so I'd have to pay out of pocket. I don't believe they tried to connect with my insurance since I was able to get hold of them immediately after my appointment. The tech was friendly enough but seemed to struggle. The actual optometrist was also friendly enough but acted super rushed. Lastly, the person running the front (who had issue with letting my 2 yr old in/ didn't have mask/ supposedly tried to reach my insurance unsuccessfully) was basically cold and uninterested in doing any work to make our experience good. I had a great experience with the optometrist and can easily say she's one of my favorites, but the entire front desk staff is an absolute nightmare. They didn't bother researching my insurance until I got there, and even though there were no issues the year before (and I did not change providers nor plans), they simply couldn't figure any of it out. They couldn't even call them because my appointment was on a weekend. Since I was already there, I opted to skip all of the necessary testing included in my plan. They agreed to the office pricing I paid for my appointment the prior year as long as I called my insurance on Monday. It turned out they were looking under the wrong place and had to search under vision- not medical. On top of that, ordering my contacts, again, was another nightmare that included being place on hold for long periods of time while the staff continuously misunderstood what I was asking (when I simple just wanted to use the credits in my plan that I had already confirmed with my provider). At any rate, after three years of coming here, I will no longer be returning. The staff in the previous years was great, but this new one is both incompetent and quite frankly very rude. Awful assistants, they don't smile, are cold, do cookie cutter intake, they should learn they are in the customer service business, versus cookie cutter cold intake. Not surprised by all the 1 star reviews. They almost force you into get billed higher amounts, be very careful, front desk people need more training on warm communication and manners! I made clear from my initial call that I only wanted a vision test (not a comprehensive eye exam). I was assured it would be fine but it was ultimately only fine after I proceeded with an attempted walk out of the appointment (and the signing of a few waivers). I am an autonomous adult and I only wanted a vision test. It shouldn't be that hard to either accommodate or deny. The staff eventually complied. The doctor was passive. I won't return and I don't recommend. See, people have the right to accept or deny any medical care. On the positive side, I was able to book an appointment with relative ease. read more

They do not honor price quoted on the phone. I made an appointment over the phone and was quoted the price of an eye exam (glasses only, no contacts) Once I arrived and signed in, the office manager said they quoted wrong information and the cost of exam was almost double. I was overbilled at this office. They claimed my insurance company was billed a certain amount. That was a complete falsehood. I think the overbilling was an error made by the doctor. Instead of correcting it when I called they inflated the amount they claim was billed to the insurance company. I called the insurance company and they confirmed that the office had lied to me. read more

After browsing some glasses at LensCrafters next door, I went in to Luxe Eye Care to inquire if they accepted VSP eye insurance. The receptionist at the desk agreed that they do accept VSP and I scheduled an eye exam appointment. On the day of the appointment, as I filled out the paper work, I noticed that there was charges for the retina scan. I asked about the charges, as I've never been charged for this in previous years. The blonde lady with curly hair advised me that, "they always charge for the scan." I was hesitant but after the way she described it to me, it seemed to be a newer service. I decided to trust her and I signed to pay the extra charges for the eye scan. In total, I ended up paying $340 dollars for a routine eye exam, an eye scan and a year supply of contact lenses ; which I was given no options for. This was extremely unusual, so I discussed the charges with my husband. He just had the same services at a different company and paid nothing out of pocket. He goes back with me into Lux Eye Care to go over the charges. The same blond lady defended the charges and tells us that she's unsure of why there is a difference in charges. She tells my husband that I signed the charges. Yes, I signed the receipt for the charges, but I never agreed to out of network charges. I asked again with my husband there, are you in network with VSP? She confirms that they are. We find out after contacting the insurance company that we are not in network. I believe that they took advantage of me. I would be surprised if I was the only person who they did this to. We are currently filling several complaints against them. Zero stars. Worst attitude I've ever experienced in my life from a medical professional

I am a physician (MD), and I am writing this because I am very concerned about the service I received here. I certainly would not recommend this location to my family or loved ones. While I feel there may have been some issues regarding the specific medical recommendations I received, this is not the correct avenue for me to express those medical-related complaints. There are other avenues for such complaints. I can however comment on other non-medical things. I purchased a 6-month supply of contacts 7.5 months ago. I walked in today looking to fill the remainder of my prescription - the second set of 6 months (my original prescription was written for 12 months). I asked to switch from a monthly lens to a daily lens, and I was told this was not possible without setting up an appointment. I was very confused - during my appointment, Dr. Leong had actually strongly suggested daily lenses for me due to my eye history (do not want to discuss this publicly). When I asked to speak to my optometrist or any optometrist, I was told this was not going to be possible. Kate W, the office manager, did not give me any options other than scheduling an appointment with the doctor. She certainly did not offer to pass on a message on my behalf to the doctors. I wrote about my experience online on Yelp and Google. After I left these reviews, I called back and spoke to Kate again. She told me that she had just looked at my review on Yelp. Within 120 seconds she had written down my phone number and promised me that an optometrist would call me back. It is really unfortunate that I had write a bad review online in order to be taken seriously. Dr. Mehdiratta did call me back - within 45 minutes, in fact. She explained to me their policy. She was very polite to me over the phone and very professional. She told me that there were elements of my visit with Dr. Leong that she did not have any record of, which is concerning to me. To be clear - Dr. Mehdiratta did not call me a liar or be rude, just stated the fact that there was "nothing documented" about something I discussed. She ended the call with "I don't know what else you want from us. You already left us a bad review." I find this very telling about where her priorities lie. If you are seeking for a place where you will be treated as a person with medical needs, go elsewhere. I understood at that moment that I was simply dollars and cents in her eyes. note: This is an edited review. I went for a quick eye exam today. First, everyone there was friendly and despite me not knowing anything about my insurance, other than it was the same as my wife's, they figured it out and took care of it. This probably the first time I've said "Wow, cool" at an Optometrist's Office. I opted for the Optomap Retinal Imaging instead of having my eyes dilated. What I really got was really neat, Dr. Nishi explained to me how my eyes were healthy by looking at the pictures and how they can often see issues before they could tell otherwise, like how they can spot diabetes and a few other things that I don't recall. Another cool thing is that picture is saved and can be referred to over time. Also, I was able to get right back to driving and doing work on a computer just as I left the office. I've been here for 2 annual check ups and one specialist appointment. The service is is fine, and appointments are quick. Beware If using insurance. I've had 2 major mishaps. First 2020 annual appointment I paid my normal copay plus extra for additional optimap. Later in 2020 I had a specialist appointment and everything seemingly went well. 2021 at my annual appointment i paid my copay only and was surprised when I was denied to purchase my contacts/glasses that normally is covered by my insurance. I called luxe and was told I had to follow up with my insurance to correct the claim so I will be allowed to purchase contacts/glasses. Luckily it was correct without too much trouble. Now end of 2021 I want to refill my contact prescription and I'm being told I owe. Balance on my 2020 specialist appointment from over a year and a half ago. I was told they have been trying to get ahold of me, yet I have no emails, calls or voicemails from their office. Went in for an exam- optometrist spent about 10 minutes with me. When I had my prescription filled it was completely off and made no sense based on the glasses I had been wearing. When I went back to have the prescription verified I was told I would have to pay 55$ all over again for a new exam because I was two days outside of the window. I love that they are open on the weekend! With my work schedule this was very convenient. Dr. Leong was outstanding - I've seen many doctors at places like this "mail it in" - give minimal effort (especially on a Sunday when I was the last appointment). Dr. Leong looked at my eyes, then use dye to take a closer look at a scratch that had scarred over. Very thorough and gave me a lot of confidence she knows her stuff. I felt compelled to write this review to prevent anyone else from having the experience with Luxe Eye Care I recently had. I work in healthcare and understand the impact public reviews can have on a business-I did not write this on a whim and attempted to address my concerns with staff and management privately, to no avail. I had my eyes checked and while checking out, the receptionist asked if I was interested in contacts. I said maybe-it wasn't the reason I was there but had thought about them before but never worn them. She said she would order me some trial lenses and I could come back for a contact lens fitting. I returned a week later, popped the trial lenses in, and was given a quick eye test-by an optometrist I didn't recognize. Immediately upon putting the contacts in, they were really uncomfortable and things looked very blurry. I told the optometrist my concerns and she said my vision was fine and 'my brain would get used to it.' The visit lasted all of 5 minutes. I went to check out and the receptionist said that I owed $700 for my years' supply of contacts. Shocked, I asked if I had to order a whole year-keep in mind, I've never worn contacts before. She said I could order 6 months but I wouldn't get a rebate. I agreed to the 6 months thinking that would the only other option and considering I wasn't the only person in the waiting area, I handed her my credit card. She said the lenses would be shipped to my house. Later that day, my vision was still incredibly blurry, and the lenses were painful to the point I had to take them out after 5 hours. After thinking more about the experience, I decided the lenses weren't for me and I would just keep wearing glasses. I called first thing the next morning, less than 24 hours after my appointment and requested to cancel the order. The woman I spoke with agreed my experience was strange-she confirmed that normally, people are given trial lenses to wear for several days before placing an order. I told her I had worn them for 5 minutes, wasn't given any options to try a different lens or to wear them for a few days before ordering, or to order a smaller quantity. She said she would talk to the manager who wasn't there but she would follow up with me. I got a call the next day from the manager, Kate, who listened to my concerns. She explained that I saw an optometrist who was covering for my regular optometrist, as though that made this ok. I told her I tried to express my concerns over the contacts and was quickly shuffled to the front to pay. Kate said her hands were tied and there wasn't anything she could do since their policy isn't to accept returned contacts. I called as soon as I could to cancel the order-I find it hard to believe the order couldn't have been stopped, eliminating the need to return them. Kate did say she would talk to the doctor and see if there was anything they could do. After not getting a call back, I called Kate again and requested a return call. She did respond, again telling me they wouldn't return the contacts, or refund my money. However, I was welcome to make another appointment to try other lenses. I have no desire to return to try contact lenses again. It's clear to me this practice doesn't care about the quality of the care they provide or their patient experience. Kate's condescending tone (she called me honey several times) and her inability to take responsibility for anything that transpired was insulting and unfortunate. It's very obvious the focus was on collecting $700 from me-not on making sure I could see when I left. Why call them trial lenses if I get to try them for 15 minutes before I buy them? It's strange I was told that's not how things should have gone by someone who works there. I would not recommend this facility to anyone, ever. Please find another place to get your eyes checked-there are lots of options in Houston where you will not be misled, spoken down to, ignored, and taken advantage of. read more

Be very careful if you decide to go here. I called for an eye exam appointment. The day of I go in and get it done, come to find out I'm being charged and EXTRA $75 for contact lens fitting even though I never asked for it. Tried to talk to them about it but they would budge. Say they don't refund fees for fittings. Also if you have VSP insurance be sure to know that while they "take" VSP insurance, they are not a VSP in-network provider. That is also something that might not get mentioned. Mistakes and misunderstanding happen, but their unwillingness to make it right really left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I visited Luxe after ditching my old optometrist. I've had persistent dry eyes which made my contacts unbearable after wearing them for only 30 minutes. I've tried a few different brands and nothing seems to work. Staff were very helpful and attentive. They were able to see me without an appointment. Dr. Nishi was great and was able to get my dry eye issue sorted out. It was a combo of allergies and I guess part of my eyeball was flatter than normal so she prescribed a new set of lenses that works a lot better. Overall I was very happy with the experience. I plan on going back and would recommend them to a friend. read more

I had a poor experience with Dr. Nishi Mehdiratta at Luxe Eye Care. The doctor recommended bifocals and rushed through the appointment that I didn't even have time to ask any questions about this life-changing development. I wanted to ask many questions but she was in such a hurry to get to her company Christmas party that I didn't get to ask them. She didn't even tell me what strength reading glasses to get. Her exact words were : "Any pair of drug store glasses will do." I've never worn them before so I had many questions like should I wear them with my contacts, should I wear them over my prescription glasses, when should I not wear them. She rushed me out of her appointment and then spent 15 minutes explaining to the office assistant how to get to the Christmas party in Highland Village. When I got to the drug store, there were so many different strengths of reading glasses that I just bought the lowest strength without knowing what was my prescription. She didn't even tell me that. With an understrength pair of reading glasses, i suffered even more eye strain again the next day. This is a terrible place. One star for the assistants. I went to the Luxe Eye Center for getting contact prescription. I didn't wear contact before so I tried to know something about contacts before I went to the optometrist. The first visit was in Thursday afternoon. I told Dr. Nishi that the vision of my left eye seemed worse. She did a vision examined and then gave -0.5 more degree to my left eye. Why did the degree of an adult worse in 9 months? She didn't ask anything or gave any suggestion. No more vision test after pupil dilution. Even if I was sensitive to strong lights and said I felt painful and dizzy, the optometrist insisted using very strong light to observe my eyes after the dilution. No examine on tear film or something related. I went back to do contact fitting in Saturday afternoon. I chose daily contacts and the optometrist provided only one choice--Acuvue 1 day moist. The assistants were very friendly helping me with wearing contacts. I felt hurt on my left eye and had a lot tears when I put on the contacts, and the assistants told me eyes needed to adjust. But the optometrist didn't do vision examine for me when I wore contacts. Before left, I asked what if I fell asleep for like one hour because I might be tired in the incoming long journeys. They said it was ok for just one hour. Then I had a vocation. Every morning when I put on contacts, I felt comfortable and had very clear vision. But 4-5 hours later, the vision blurred and I felt rubs on my eyelids. When I went back the second Saturday afternoon without contacts on, the assistant asked me to put on contacts. Immediately after I put them on, the optometrist examined my visions, leaving no time for my eyes to adjust. I told her the vision was good in the mornings but blurred in the afternoons, especially for the left eye and after I fell asleep for a while. She became very impatient, ignoring my explanation and blaming me for sleeping with contacts (it was actually a nap but I didn't use this word then). She gave an examine result as -0.5 more degree of my left eye. I asked how did we know the contacts were the best fit one, worrying if the material didn't fit my eyes. The optometrist, very impatiently, insisted that the Acuvue 1 day moist was the best one because all the parameters were perfect with my eyes. After the embarrassing silence, the optometrist finally behaved friendly by asking what other contacts I wanted to try. I came up with only Acuvue Oasys because I just searched it in the internet before the visit and I didn't know much about contacts. So I asked if I could try Acuvue Oasys. The optometrist said nothing but changing the degree with -0.5 more of my left eye in my prescription, selected Acuvue Oasys, and asked the assistant to order the contacts for me. I felt so offended. Would anyone order contacts with both new series and degree? The assistant, aware of that I didn't have insurance, tried to persuade me to order acuvue oasys in their center for half year, which was the best price. The price was $880/6 months, while from Walgreens, the only store I remembered price at that time, you can get $89 (90 pk)*4*80% = $285 for 6 months. I left the center with only a prescription I would never use, one with 33% worse degree than my previous one. After I went back to my apartment in the late afternoon, I put off the contacts and found the contacts were completed dried out and misshaped. I don't know if that is due to the material of the contacts or is because my eyes are not suitable wearing contacts. I don't really understand. Every review online (many were not from Houston; many were submitted in the same day and were hidden by yelp) said she was so friendly, so professional. I felt neither from her. All I can feel is being rudely treated even after months. Everyone is able to find the parameters of all contacts in the world online, then why do we go to optometrist? read more

Unfortunately if you are looking for an eye care clinic that puts customers first this is not the place for you. I have been going to Luxe for three years, but will be finding a new doctor when it's time for my next visit. Recently, went in for an exam and a contact lens fitting. As others reported when I went to check out the total they gave was with a year supply of contact lenses. I was not prepared to pay $600 for lenses at that time so I asked them to remove that charge. I paid out of pocket for the rest ... which for them is much better than using insurance. Today, I went in as I ran out of contacts a little early and am waiting for them to come in from another supplier. I was going to purchase a full box from them but they did not have in stock. They refused to provide a sample box (which I offered to pay for) because they save those for customers who actually buy contacts from them which I was willing to do if they had them in stock. I understand they can not just give out the samples continually, but most will be willing to help when their customer is in a tough spot especially when they stood there trying to figure out a way to pay and get some. Oh well... seems like im not the only one that feels this way about Luxe. Shame. read more

Great group of people here. I've been wearing glasses and/or contacts for over 20 years so I've seen my share of eye doctors and can confidently say they're one of the top places I've visited. I have astigmatism and some doctors in the past have struggled with the right contact lens fitting but they were spot on the first time which is important to me because my contacts always have to be special ordered. They have also done a great job adjusting to covid by controlling patient flow and sanitizing everything. read more

Ridiculous experience-not only did they fail to inform that this appointment would not be covered by insurance due to it being my second visit within a rolling one year time period, they only provided a prescription for glasses instead of contacts which was made very clear was the only reason for the visit. Worst optometrist I've ever been to. I've been to optometrist's offices in Los Angeles, New York City, New Orleans, Richmond, VA, Lawrence, KS and never, not even once, have I been treated as poorly, top to bottom, as I have at Luxe Eye Care. For example, I kindly asked the optometrist to please make sure my contact lens prescription remained the same regardless of measurements taken. I know from experience that my brain won't adjust. For glasses, please update the script. But not for contacts. She made a big deal out of it, gave me a snotty attitude, sighed and walked out of the room. She even got me a sample lens at the higher power that I rejected and she STILL gave me the new prescription. So then I need to get new contacts, like, a year's supply. That year's supply would cost over $450 at Luxe whereas I can get them for $150 at Target. I get the lenses from Target and sure enough, they're not right. So I call Luxe. They did change my prescription back. At least they did that. But they basically said they couldn't do anything about the year's supply of contacts I bought since I bought them at Target. It's not Target's fault that the optometrist refused to do what I asked. It's Luxe Eye Care's fault. At literally EVERY other optometrist I've been to, they would go out of their way to make it right. Not here. They don't care about you. They are greedy money-grubbers and I will never set foot in that location ever again. I'd rather see the optometrist at Target. Adios, Luxe Eye Care. read more
