have been coming to lux since they opened on and off. recently brought my teenage daughter for her first set of nails and she picked a design that was pretty extravagant, she didn't like them & was upset but didn't say anything until we left. we went back the next day and they completely redid her nails to make sure she was happy, they didn't make a big deal, they wanted to make sure she was happy. they came out great and they didn't charge any extra for the change, which was extensive and time consuming. Amazing pedicures! There are great options for the type of pedicure someone would like that day. It is a calm and relaxing environment. Every pedicure I have gotten here has been excellent. I went to LUX nail salon last night for a fill in and a pedicure. I was extremely pleased with my entire experience! When I arrived I was promptly assisted by a very nice man. He was extremely helpful in finding the perfect shade of pink I was looking for. Then he immediately showed me to the pedicure station. They have 5 or so different pedicures you can get but I opted for the $26 one. It was awesome. Then it was time for my nails. I just needed a fill in with a gel polish mani. They came out great! The polish and shape (claws) were perfect and exceeded my expectations. They even stayed open past closing to finish, but never did I feel like she was rushing, I was super grateful. The woman who did my nails was amazing. She knew what she was doing and put time and care into her work. I was very impressed with LUX nails, I might have to make it my new nail salon! I have heard good things about this salon from friends, and the help reviews were awesome, so I figured I'd try them. I will never go to another mail salon again! Lux is amazing, clean, welcoming and professional. Not to mention thier prices are in the lower end. While thier prices may be lower compared to other salons in the area they produce high quality work. I showed my arista picture of what I was interested in, with a slight color change and he replicated it perfectly! I'm currently obsessed with my nails, the shape, texture and shine is amazing. I've been here twice for a gel and regular manicure. Both experiences were great. I love the way they shape my nails--short, round, and evenly clipped. And they paint your entire nail! This sounds weird, but I've gotten many manicures where they don't paint the edges of your nail, making the gel peel off sooner. They give you a shoulder massage while your nails dry too. Over the years, I have been to this place several times and I have never really had a good experience. Recently, I thought, maybe things changed. So I started trying them again. Without getting into too much detail, I will just say that the wife's owner is a snotty bitch. When the workers where cleaning up at the end of the day, she just stood there at the register and watched and didn't help. She barked off orders and when I asked who she was, I said, "She is rude, isn't she?" the staff looked down and just nodded, yes. Several times while going here, she was snippy and condescending. Lux is an okay nail salon when it comes to the actual service. I have found that my polish doesn't chip as fast as other salons, and if you ask for quick dry applied they do it charge you for it. Also, it appears to be a fairly clean salon. This is all great if you can actually get in there. I never think to make an appointment but I also do not attempt to go on busy times. I have been turned away a few times. They also do not take tips on credit cards, which is inconvenient. Not the best in town. read more

I've hesitated in giving this review and have given them a few extra chances to change my mind. After my last visit, I'd be remiss in not sharing my experience. I would have been pleased to give this feedback directly to the establishment, but there in lies one of the problems. When they opened, they were great. Several employees spoke some English, they were all dressed professionally, they gave great services, the place was clean and there was pride in ownership. None of those things are true anymore. I've gotten a rash the last two times they gave me paraffin, which leads me to logically conclude they are reusing it. Ewwww gross. The manicurist attempted to cut my cuticles with a tool from her pocket, not out of a sterilizer. Ewwww gross. When she finally did get a clean tool, the woman made me bleed badly on four FOUR! fingers. The gel on one hand is thick and over my cuticles. It looks terrible and I had to go somewhere else to fix it be I was too grossed out and frustrated with Lux to get it rectified there. I love wasting $35. None of the employees had on professional or clean clothes. No one smiles. No one seems to know what's going on. No one seems trained in how to give pedis or manis. It made me wonder if they were there against their will and God forbid they are, that's certainly not a practice or business I want to encourage/support. No one speaks any English in there so there was no one to talk to about this experience. They all just looked at me with blank faces when I asked to speak to a manager. They may still have the nicest pedi chairs and best hours in town, but I highly recommend finding another place. And when you do, would you let me know where!? read more

I was in town for a wedding and needed a basic Mani/pedi. I walked into Lux and was greeted right away. Everyone was really friendly right off the bat. My tech was fast but meticulous and very neat, and her touch was so light that I didn't even know she'd started applying the polish! My nails look absolutely beautiful -- shiny, smooth, and no dings (which is pretty uncommon for me)! I also liked that they had wide selection of Essie polishes. I'd highly recommend Lux. I'd also like to note that a little girl's birthday party came in (no appointment) for simple pedicures, and the staff didn't even blink. They had all five little girls seated right away and they were polished and dried by the time I left. Great customer service. read more

I went here a handful of times always to get a gel manicure. The first two times I went were great. The second time the person taking care of me mended a broken nail with glue and powder and even added an extra layer of gel because my nails are prone to breaking. The trips after that went downhill until my very last trip which was the worst- I had gone in to get another gel manicure and the person taking care of me I can only assume he was the owner or manager. I tried to ask him questions and he seemed irritated by me. He sat me down and filed my already filed nails even more. He almost ripped my pinky nail off using the cuticle trimmer to the point where I ripped my hand out of his. He used the thinnest layers of gel he possibly could have, leaving my nails looking bumpy and thin. Within 2 days one to two of my nails had already broken. After a week and a half they had all broken. My nails right now are so thin that I can't have them grow out even a little bit without them ripping. I did not have acrylics on- gel manicures are not supposed to damage your nails this badly. I will NOT be returning and I suggest avoiding this place. Or maybe sticking to pedicures... read more

This has been the absolute worst nail experience of my life. I went in to get a gel manicure. The lady had to pick 3 different colors until there wasn't a completely runny one. I should have taken that as a sign but I really needed them fixed before an out of state wedding. 2 days later, the edges started turning black! I went in to see if they would fix it and I was instantly told it was my fault. They said it was from me dying my hair myself. I have a hair stylist do that so no, try again please. Then they said it was from my job. I told them I work on a computer all day and was then told my computer was dirty. We have shared work spaces so I religiously wipe it down every day. They said they would add another coat on top but this color was between the polish layers. They then were going to charge me if they did anything besides remove the color. I was going to have them do that but then decided that since I was being blamed over and over again I would take my nails to someone else and see if they could tell me what the real cause of this was. I will never ever go back to this place again and will advise all my friends or people are work to stay away from this place. The disrespect I was given was disgraceful. $30+ bucks down the drain. I wouldn't even give it a star but apparently I have to. Another salon that I went to told me that this place did not properly coat or seal my nails because it was black under the polish. read more

I have to give two stars for overall cleanliness and my nail tech was friendly enough. I debated giving this review as I rarely ever post reviews. However, my dip manicure lasted less than one week before 4 of my nails chipped and broke without reason. I am used to a dip manicure lasting at least 2-3 weeks but recently moved to the area and thought I would try Lux. I went to lux for about 9 months- I decided to give my nails a break the last 3 months. I returned today for a simple pedicure and manicure. The owners wife- who is so incredibly rude took over the women doing my nails at the end. Perhaps because she needed her to to pedicures. This women came in and ruined my nails-- not asking if i wanted a thick white tip or a natural tip. It was to late for me to say anything after 4 coats of gel--- Which i was pressured to use!!!!! Then, i proceeded to pay and she said $61!!! I said what????? how?? i had exactly $61 cash which i gave her and she quickly took. i said give me back the cash and i'll just charge- she said NO! I said I'd have to return with a tip. She said no, you swipe the tip. Ummmm no i will not!... she continued to force me a few times- making a scene - She then said loudly how much tip will you give? I was so upset at that point I said 2-$3 honestly! The husband owner who is normally the nice one, came out and said to swipe my card for tip! I'm sorry but I'm not paying a $2-3 fee for a crappy tip on lousy service. I may sound cheap, but I felt pressured to use the gel polish which I really did not intend on using. Then, to be forced to tip... that's pushing it for me! The service is horrible and the are rude and mean! They lost my business!! too pushy. They don't do a great job as well. Nothing special. Please don't go here! PLEASE! Honestly the service is great! Everyone is very nice, but I got an INFECTION here. At first I thought it was just an ingrown nail because they cut it wrong, but then 4 days after my spa pedicure my toe got VERY swollen and VERY red! It is very painful! I believe it is an ingrown toenail and I picked up some kind of infection from LUX. I have to take off work to go to the doctor tomorrow! Its really unbelievable! I have never had anything like this happen at a salon! I only hope its not hepatitis! Don't go here, saving a little money is not worth this pain and the money to go to the doctor so I don't lose my toe or worse... I saw them reuse the plastic "sterile" baggies that the actual sterile instruments come in. After the nail tech took my tools out of the "sterile" bag she placed it on the side instead of in the trash can. Later a man came and picked up all the "sterile" baggies and took them to a desk where he was putting other instruments into them. He didn't even wipe the instruments off before he put them in there! SO DANGEROUS! and DECEPTIVE! He is making people think they are getting the cleanest instruments when he isn't even wiping them off with alcohol! So yes, it is cheap, but you get what you pay for... and now my health is actually at risk! Go somewhere else. I can not say it enough. I've debated whether I should update my review given my last few experiences, but I can't help but feel they've gone WAY downhill. The pedicure chairs are great, the shoulder massages are wonderful, the decor is nice and the prices are good. But there are just too many negatives at this point to keep me coming back. I went for a manicure the day before an interview, and at my interview the next morning (after pretty much just showering and going to bed), my nails were already VERY chipped - which defeated the whole purpose of getting my nails done in the first place! I got a pedicure done on another visit where the tech seemed completely disinterested and just didn't even try... for example when she was using a file on my heels she was just lightly swiping it back and forth a couple times while looking around the room, and it accomplished NOTHING. I mean come on, at least pretend like you're making an effort. I've also done gel (shellac) nails here MANY times now with mixed results. Sometimes it looks great and lasts a while (over a week), other times the gel starts to chip away after a few days. The last time I got gels here, the color was not solid - several areas had nail showing through, and it looked terrible. I decided to go to a different salon to have it changed, and they could not get it off! It took about 45 minutes to remove it without damaging my nails. The other salon gave me a new gel manicure, which has now remained intact for over 2 weeks - longer than it ever lasted at LUX. Unfortunately I won't be returning here! read more

The reason I gave LUX 2 stars is because it seems as if the tools were sterile- however I didn't see them come out of a sterilizer, just in a sterile bag. They also had VinylLux Polish (little did I know she would apply it wrong without the properly VinylLux top coat). The woman who did my nails (no idea her name since she never introduced herself) seemed to really struggle to conduct my basic manicure service. I left with polish on my cuticle and on my fingers. In my quest to find a cheaper alternative to my "fancy" nail place, I tried Lux. Not impressed. I got a manicure and pedicure and both were less than average. My technician was looking around the whole time, even when supposedly working on my cuticles, which led her to cut my toe and literally touch one cuticle on my hand...the others she missed and just went through my motions while continuously searching the room. The actual paint job looks nice on both my hands and feet, and the only reason this place is getting two stars is because my fingers still have polish on them after five days, which is pretty miraculous in my book. However, everything else from the failure to exfoliate my feet for more than 7 seconds to the manicure table with old tools and paint all over it, ensured that I will not be returning. Used to love this place and go all the time, despite having the occasional subpar service. Because they were always attentive and fixed breaks etc. The busier they've gotten, the more rude they become. There's no reason why you can't talk to your customers when they come through the door. Simply tell me a better time to come back. My last couple of experiences I've been left standing there being ignored and I finally walked out both times.
