Never again. Overpriced, and very poor polish & filing job. I went in to have shellac polish removed (which was already 2 weeks old and peeling off...so an easy removal), and a basic manicure (not gel, not shellac, just regular polish). Polish was soaked off, so no dremmel work. I was charged over $35 after tax, plus gave a $6 tip to be kind. My nails were filed at an angle, and the polish layers can be seen where they didn't cover the entire nail. Several nail edges were jagged and needed to be filed down when I got home as they were catching on my clothing. The photos were taken just 24 hours after the manicure. I've never paid this much for a basic manicure, and I basically have to re-do my nails on my own at home now. Total rip off! read more

I used to go there back in 2009-2012 and they were amazing. I went in yesterday and immediately knew they had changed hands but the woman behind the counter told me they had it. The fact that there was nobody in the nail salon should have been a big hint to me but it was going to be a tragedy. I had an idea of what I wanted and the woman behind the counter proceeded to stay in Spanish to all the other girls that I had been smoking which is true it is not illegal to smoke weed in Connecticut why is it necessary for her to talk smack I don't know? Secondly I was stuck between two colors. I wasn't sure which one I wanted and she just very briskly said will you pick this one first let's do this one. I was going in for a gel fill and a gel pedicure. I told them I did not want the spa pedicure because it was going to take too long I didn't have 50 minutes for a pedicure that day about 10-15 minutes into my pedicure another woman walks in with an appointment and even though the entire place is empty they seat her as close to me as humanly possible which was very annoying for me. Then the girl gets to the point where she's doing my cat's eye and has absolutely no idea how to do it. It came out terrible. The girl then proceeded to rub lotion into my legs for like 20 minutes knowing I did not have 50 minutes for a pedicure I think she was trying to trick me into thinking I got a spa pedicure so that she could charge me extra. I wound up leaving before they even did my manicure I have to find somewhere to go fix this and do my nails it was a waste of $65. I will absolutely never be back to waste my time and money like that again. read more

Ok I don't know what happened but I'm probably not going back here again. I was at their salon last month and got a pedicure. I got an ingrown toenail as the aftermath of cutting my nails too short. Stopped here on a whim while running errands in the area and seeing the great reviews they had convinced me to give them a try. I lucked out and they weren't too busy for a Saturday afternoon, therefore I didn't have a wait. The spa is modern and clean, very relaxing atmosphere and I was impressed upon walking in. They had relaxing music playing and overall there was a quiet/serene vibe, which was perfect. Alex did a great job on my manicure and started off with a paraffin dip to moisturize my hands. This was included with the service as well as a quick back massage not only before my manicure, but again while drying my nails. I also read in another review that they use plastic liners in the pedicure tubs which is rarely seen in other spas, so I definitely will be returning for a pedicure in the future. They don't offer any discounts when you get a mani/pedi combo, so the $44 is a little higher than what I would normally pay, but other than that I have nothing negative to say. Overall, great experience and Alex also gave me a $5 off certificate when she learned it was my first time there. I would drive the 25 minutes from New Haven just to get my nails done here and I definitely plan to return soon. read more

I felt very relaxed after leaving and stopped by on a whim. I was seated right away given the amount of customers there. Idk what it is that makes this place unique but it is so very pleasant. They have an ATM readily available inside and plenty of parking off of the Berlin turnpike in CT. I am someone who is a regular to manicures and love trying new places but I will definitely be coming back here. It's all in the details. Very clean and modern. The place itself has very nice seating, has two large TV screens and very pleasant music that is not too loud. The tools are sterilized and they don't keep your hand in the UV light for an unnecessary length of time. They use a GREAT top coat that is super shiny and not your typical OPI or CDC brand. As an added bonus, the staff are ladies from Ecuador and are very sweet and are focused on your manicure. Very fast too. As a new customer, they gave me a $5 gift card. read more

I went here to get my dip powder tips off back in October. The nail tech was drilling the tips off. As she was drilling, she would drill my cuticles multiple times which hurt and left burn marks. My nails became so thin and had drill circle marks on them. She completely ruined my nails. It took 2 months for the drill circle marks to grow out. She was also coughing while doing this, which makes me nervous since we are in the middle of a pandemic. I will never be coming back here. read more

Got a regular pedicure and manicure, my nail polish started chipping immediately as I grabbed my car keys to leave. Same thing happened with my pedicure, the technicians don't give nail polish time to dry between each layer. My nails were shaped completely uneven and half of my pinky toe nail wasn't even painted. The foot massages and "spa" aspect of the pedicure were nice but the technician I had had a heavy hand when pushing back cuticles, I was definitely in pain waiting for it to be over. Overall I wasted $50 and had to go home and repaint my nails (which is what I was trying to avoid by having a peaceful nail appointment), I definitely won't be returning and there are other salons worth your money. read more

I went here on a whim and i loved the experience. My only frustration was I paid for gel and within four days it was already lifting and peeling off. Had a truly lovely pedicure and foot massage by Paol. He was great at setting me at ease with friendly conversation. My feet feel and look amazing. He really did a great job - I tipped him $10! I hardly ever write reviews but my trip to Elle Nails last week certainly warrants one. I wanted to treat my mom to a mani/pedi for her birthday, which is what we got, but we've never had a more terrible mani/pedi experience. First, the pedi lasted all of 10 minutes and wasn't thorough at all. My toes nails are chipping one week later. The mani was even worse. For a $42 powder dip mani, you would expect perfect precision. It's my understanding that these types of manicures are supposed to last AT A MINIMUM 3-4 weeks. One week after visiting the salon, my mom has multiple chips in her nails and I have one nail that completely cracked in half and fell off, and all of the other nails are on the verge of popping off. They didn't even take the time to cut our cuticles, let alone massage our hands like most other salons do. Overall, this nail salon made my mom and I feel extremely rushed and unwelcomed. If you want to attract and retain customers, do a better job, be more thorough and actually make it worth the close to $200 I spent on our trip to your salon. One star for cleanliness, otherwise I'd give this place zero stars. read more

I have been coming to Elle's since they opened, and I would never go anywhere else. The owner, June, guarantees customer satisfaction, and she is absolutely pleasant and friendly. Besides my manis and pedis, I get my waxings and massages there too! All the staff is friendly and helpful. I like for Anna to do my manis and pedis, but really you will be happy with any one of the specialists. My podiatrist warned me against pedis because I got fungus from a different salon many moons ago. That said, I bought my own tools and polish and with the plastic tub coverings, I haven't had a problem since and June has no problems with me asking for this special attention. COVID caused some scheduling problems for June because she wanted to make sure everyone stayed a safe distance, so I highly recommend making an appointment before you go so you have a guaranteed time slot. I have been going to Elle for quite some time and know that I can expect a great, relaxing experience. Today however, I got a gel manicure done by Alex and left very disappointed. She was rude and skipped steps in the process, which I believe was due to the fact that the manager was not in, so she knew she could get away with it. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel special. If I need to get in for a last minute appointment, they will fit me in. If I am sitting getting my nails done and I decide that I want a pedicure as well, they are more than happy to oblige. The pedicure menu is wonderful and there are many options to choose from. Julia gave me a pedicure, she's very very nice and sweet, when my toes were drying she accidentally smudged my nail polish and re painted the entire nail, she was fast but very considerate of my visit. I also got an amazing leg massage from her and took the time to really make sure I was comfortable. More people were coming in and they were very busy but she stayed calm and happy took in the clients that didn't make an apt. She's really nice and I recommend her! I'm always look for a hearty, yet relaxing massage with a decent pedicure. This was a TRANSCENDENT massage along with being the top best two pedicures I've ever gotten. I've been to spas/nail salons all over the middle CT region. I've gotten decent pedicures and decent leg, back and shoulder massages. And I've also had poor experiences. I received the best of both worlds here. I called @ 2:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and got a 6 p.m. appointment later that day. Elle is clean, quiet and brightly lit. There are two big screen TVs. I chose the jellee (mid-level) pedicure for $73. This included a hot rock foot massage after the regular pedicure leg and foot massage. I believe all new first-timers get an automatic $5 off gift certificate for their next visit. There was a decent amount of colors to pick from, although I have seen more at other places. Elle is easily accessible and is on the more Meriden-side of the Berlin Turnpike. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. read more

My daughter and I had a 6:30 appointment, which was half hour before closing--I did not ask for this time, this is what they gave me. We were rushed to pick out our nail polish which was a little annoying. The experience was just OK; the two ladies we had spoke broken English and very soft so you had to ask them to repeat everything they said. The paraffin wax was way too hot and actually irritated our skin. The real kicker is our nails started to chip away the very next morning. Now, 4 days later, my daughter had to remove hers entirely and I will have to do the same. I have never had a manicure that only lasted a few days and started to chip immediately. Needless to day, they like to close up shop promptly at closing time and not a minute over. They started counting their drawer and doling out the tips making us feel rushed even more. I visited this salon for the first time after my normal spot went through an ownership change, and I really liked it. Beautiful, clean interior, plenty of staff on hand, and modern chairs and tables. The pricing is slightly high, but I think it's fair for what you get, and they offer a VIP card for discounts if you visit regularly. I only gave four stars instead of five for a few reasons: they don't use a razor with their spa pedicure, so you are left with calluses no matter how hard they scrub, the polish selection could be better, the nail dryers are weak, and for me, the fact they are closed on Sundays is inconvenient. $32 FOR A POLISH CHANGE!!! I stopped here on a whim last night for a quick polish change. The salon is warm and inviting. There were 3 clients getting pedicures. I picked a color and was asked to take a seat with Alex. Alex took her time, was attentive and overall did a good job. Once seated, another nail tech came over and started to massage my back and shoulders. It felt aaaamazing. I did not get her name. When Alex was done painting my nails, she also gave me a 30-45 second back rub and lathered my hands with lotion. All of these little extras were nice, right? Up until this point, the experience was wonderful. Then, it was time to pay. Any sort of wonderful feelings I had, were gone. Poof. Vanished. I was charged $32 for the polish change. That's right ladies... $32!!! I have never in my life paid $32 for a polish change. Where was I? At a luxury resort??? I have paid that price for hour long pedicures and fills but never ever for a quick polish change. Now, I have owned a salon and speak from experience. The gel polish is purchased in bulk and bought at wholesale prices. I know the amount of time and product that goes into a polish change. It's not a hell of a lot. And, let's be real for a minute...how much of that $32 will the nail tech even see? None of it I'm sure. Unfortunately, the employees in most of these Asian establishments don't receive wages...they keep their tips. That's it. I have friends who work in them. So,this I know. Another thing they do not do, is display the prices. They have a 8'by10' price list down by the register. Conveniently placed there for the employees, not the clientele. Now, I have no problem spending money on myself on something I want or need. Make no mistake about it. I believe women should pamper themselves on a regular. But shame,shame, shame on the manager/owner for taking advantage of the patrons. My money is good anywhere. I prefer to spend it somewhere, where it is honestly appreciated and valued.
