Was here for SXSWEDU 2025 and came here for one of the after parties. I love that there are multiple floors. I loved that each one had its own bar, its own vibe, its own layout and I love that as you climb the stairs you enter into a different mood, lighting, and can peer back down to see what you just left. It's a cool design. Drinks are a little sweet and you can lose the taste of the alcohol in it. You can expect a sugary hangover or headache the next door for sure. I had three drinks. One beer and these two cocktails: Lustre Lemonade which has vodka, strawberry syrup, lemon juice, soda. Vegas To Reno which had gin, yellow chartreuse, elder flower, grapefruit juice, cranberry, lime, soda. Mostly chilled out in the rooftop portion because although there are plenty of windows and open spaces on the other floors, it was still hot. The rooftop has not enough seating. So when it's packed you'll be standing. There's some seats in the middle, and some high tops scattered around the place. Not sure what the food taste like but how great can bar food really be? Happy hour goes until 7pm. I wouldn't rush over to experience it. It's basically just a dollar off of things. I'm sure there is an elevator somewhere in the place but didn't see it. Which after a few drinks at some other places and then some here, I can see making it up and down the stairs a lil more dangerous. read more

When you're looking for a laid-back outing on Rainey Street, Lustre Pearl is a great find. There's plenty of space to relax both indoors and outdoors. As one of the few remaining original historical homes on Rainey, it stands strong while others around it have modernized into high rises. The drink selection is standard for a bar, and the bartenders here are a bit more grungy. read more

I visited Lustre Pearl on New Years Eve after attending a wedding and was surprised that it wasn't more crowded! We immediately went to the bar and ordered our drinks to get the party re-started - I ordered the Deep Eddy Frozen Cherry Limeade. My drink was so good but also incredibly sweet so it was something I had to nurse a bit so that I wasn't on sugar overload/ sick to my stomach. I was also handed (from a friend) a shot that was recommended by the bartender. I can't remember the name unfortunately and only recall that the first word was Vegas. The shot was also sweet but that is preferable to something that burns too much. They played fun music which was throwback to my 3rd - 6th grade years and left us all without voices as we sang our hearts out to the songs. I did enjoy my time at this bar but prefer other bars on Rainey Street based on the inside seating area/ ambiance. I would give it another chance, but would keep it as a quick stop and not where I close out the night. read more

This place is an institution on Rainey. I've been coming here years, the Lustre Pearl is as authentic austin as it gets. Great live music, corn hole out the back, the bartenders are real but fair. There is nothing not to like about this place. Act like an idiot yep you will be thrown out, but that's what also makes it a good place to drink. Less hectic than the bars around it. Incredible dive bar! Great bartenders, service and vibes! Fun rock and chill vibe - Least snooty place on rainey street!

I'm surprised this bar only has three stars, but I guess it's a different vibe from the other spots on Rainey St. It's a more low key spot than places like Unbarlievable where a couple was nearly having sex on the front lawn. Or hammered drunk people being escorted out at 9 pm. Here, there's corn hole, hula hoops, picnic tables and dancing. It feels sort of like partying at/near a barn. It's a more relaxed crowd with a really fun vibe. The kind of place where it felt good to be around the people and not like they annoyed me as they stumbled around. Wanted to show my out of town guest Rainey Street. So we came here, which also happened to be my birthday. Had the best time. Music was great, dancing and mingling with everyone. Great vibe. There's a patio, some lawn games, there's an upstairs as well. Basically we stayed down stairs with the DJ and danced. There is no cover to get in. Everyone gets carded no matter how old or young you look. Be sure to have your ID out to allow the line to get keep moving. Now this is a neat spot to have a drink! The bartenders were whipping up some fancy and STRONG cocktails and I am a fan. I loved watching them stir the ice and liquor then slice a piece of fresh peel into the glass but not before rimming it with that citrus. The patio is where it's at! There's plenty of tables, some covered. There's bean bag toss and giant connect 4. There are plenty of porta potties outside I didn't check inside so I'm unsure if they have a bathroom indoors. This place was ok. It's one of the older bars on Rainey St. so it kind of has the older flavor. It's a pretty chill place even when crowded. They have a lot of room in the back area and an upstairs as well which tends to get packed later. We stopped in and had a couple of drinks just so I could show my wife the layout and then we moved on. It's not a bad place but nothing is really that memorable about it. I was physically assaulted by a man who was working the gate at Lustre Pearl on Rainey Street in April 2019. Two years later, I am still going to physical therapy and suffering from chronic back pain as a result of this injury, that led to a concussion, whiplash, and a muddy, torn dress. I was dressed up for an event and wearing heels (which were also muddy and destroyed). The management of Lustre Pearl has never responded to the police reports that I filed or any information that I shared related to the assault. They also did not cooperate in providing a video of the person who attacked me or the incident. Instead of cooperating, they protected their staff entirely. To me, this is irresponsible and negligent. This happened two years ago, so maybe this person is no longer employed at the bar (one can hope) but I would never go back or recommend this establishment to anybody for this reason. There are many lovely local businesses and bars here in Austin that deserve your business instead. read more

Good time here. Bartenders were very attentive even on a busy Saturday night. DJ was damned good too mixing a lot of 90's hip hop. The place is nice and big. Good sized bar and dance floor area indoors. Seating, ping pong, etc outdoors. Only gripe was the wait was silly for the few unisex bathrooms. But you got a lot of people drinking so folks need to go. Drinks were reasonably priced too. Surprised that mixed drinks were like $6-8 bucks even with liquor upgrades. That's less than half of LA. I ordered one moscow mule and closed my tab. The bartender propped my card up on my drink after he swiped it. I asked if there was anything for me to sign and he said no due to Covid. So I took my card and my drink. I was charged $64. I reached out to the manager via phone, email, and Instagram and didn't hear back. Shady. There are 2 wide screen TVs in the bar. Want to bring fido with you? It's dog friendly. Games? Head out the patio Strong drinks? You bet. I came into this place, because it looked inviting..The bartender was just perfect....A friendly soul, and polite as all hell. He made us feel welcome, and was attentive to us... The prices are reasonable, the beer garden has something for everyone, even a ping pong table. They have dog bowls for your fur baby, and jugs of water to stay hydrated. Whenever I come to Austin (visiting from California) I always love stopping in the Lustre Pearl. Great service, tasty drinks (and bartender is always willing to experiment to make something that will satisfy your preferences), chill cabin ambience, not super crowded, and not super loud so you can still have a conversation. They don't put out board games anymore of weekends because people keep taking them There are animal heads mounted on the walls so if you're sensitive to that sort of thing, this place is probably not for you. There's a really difficult golf game next to the bathroom. It costs like $8 to play. read more

Visited this bar with a group of girlfriends. It was our last stop before we decided to call it quits for the night. Music was just okay... I think that was a part of the reason we decided that it was time to head back to the hotel. A few of us still wanted to keep going, though we were just not feeling the crowd or music. Conveniently this place was across Fairmont so we just walked back with slight difficulties being in heals and half drunk. Almost broke my ankle but no big deal. I survived and that's all that mattered. Maybe revisit this place again, though it's not my top choice on Rainy street. read more

Our group of 8 visited this location this past weekend. We enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere of the bar - there was a lot of space, many people, and a DJ. Unfortunately, my night was soured by a bartender who was unnecessarily rude to me when I ordered a drink. I was on the third floor of the bar on Friday night. She wasn't sure exactly what I was ordering and instead of asking me for clarification in a polite way, she opted to behave really rudely. I can understand that things can get hectic when you're working the bar, but it wasn't all that busy where she was located at the time that I ordered the drink. And all in all I just find it hard to excuse an unwarranted nasty attitude. Beware of the absolutely HORRIBLE and abusive door guy at the Rainey street location!!! I had the most awful experience with him this week. I ordered food online for pick up for my husband and I from Tommy Want Wingy and as I was walking in and almost at the food truck (which is located super close to the entrance outside) I hear someone yelling at me that I need to show an ID. I didn't realize that you needed an ID just to pick up food and I didn't have it with me. I said that I'm only here to pick up my food and the order was ready to pick up. The door guy told me he 'doesn't give a f**k' if it's just to pick up food and that I needed an ID. I was already inside and the bar was pretty empty so he could easily see me just pick up my food, so I quickly picked up my food and he told me that he was going to physically 'carry me out'. He proceeded to be very threatening and intimidating towards me and telling me to 'f**k off' and that he is going to 'call the cops if I ever come back' and that 'he never wants to me see me at this bar again'. He also called me 'white trash' a few times and kept telling me to 'f**k off' even when I stayed silent and was ignoring him (bare in mind the guy was himself white). I kept my composure the whole time and never cursed back. He continued to yell and curse at me in the distance as I was walking back to my car. As a young woman who was on her own at the time, I felt extremely threatened and upset by the situation. I have never experienced such harassment in my life from anyone! I'm a very polite person and non-confrontational. The only thing I said back to him was to 'never ever curse at me again' and he told me to 'f**k off' again. The incident happened on a Wednesday evening around 8.30pm and there was barely anyone there so there was no excuse for his behavior as he wasn't overwhelmed with crowds. It was a very scary and shocking experience for me. I have been to many bars in my lifetime all over the world and this has NEVER happened to me. He could have let me pick up my food as he could clearly see me as the food truck is right by the entrance and it was totally empty!! I have read other Yelp reviews where some other women have experienced similar situations at Lustre Pearl Rainey including one who was physically assaulted by the door guy at the Lustre Pearl Rainey (this was two years ago so I'm not sure if it is the same person but his behavior sounded way too similar). Perhaps Lustre Pearl employs abusive and aggressive staff? I contacted the manager via email who eventually got back to me a day later. He agreed with me that the door guy behaved unprofessionally and aggressively and told me that he would be 'suspended'. He did not tell me for how long but in my opinion he needs to be fired as he is dangerous and aggressive especially towards women. I am also not sure whether to fully believe the manager as to whether he has been suspended. I just hope that management does not tolerate this type of behavior from their staff. Judging from previous reviews they seem to let their staff get away with VERY bad behavior. I'm going to have to see it to believe it that this guy has been suspended, but to be honest this incident has completely put me off going there as it was traumatizing. It was unacceptable!! There are way better bars in Austin and on Rainey! UPDATE: The door guy is still working at this location a mere one week after the incident. I emailed management again asking why this is and they have not responded. I'm pretty sure they never suspended him in the first place. This is a toxic establishment that does not care about customer's safety! read more

Came here because i wanted to try chicken lollipop (which is the food truck sitting next to Lustre Pearl. Explored only the outside of Lustre Pearl, seems like an okay place to hang out. There was a ping pong table, giant connect four and other games for people to play. Plenty of benches around the house for people to sit and hang out. Music was not bad at the time we were there. Their Lustre Lemonade (it tastes like an icy strawberry lemonade) was really good. which is probably dangerous because since i couldn't taste the alcohol, i can see myself drinking more than one. read more

The lighting is on the dimmer yellow side, especially on a cloudy, chilly, rainy summer day (which totally blindsided by entire group). The indoor seating was cute with a unique red chair that seemed to be ideal for a photo opportunity. The drinks were served in mason jars, and we only saw and interacted with one employee- our bartender. He was hip, friendly, and enthusiastic about making drinks and overall chill vibes. Outside, there's a photo booth on the wooden deck, ping pong table on the side of the building, and corn hole boards in the back. There's access to the 2nd floor if you want to people watch everyone on the ground. Corn hole with some drinks in the cloudy day was a nice break from exploring. It was an ideal spot for day drinking. The tables were clean. The bathrooms are a single stall and maintained even when they were slow. I'm not sure how busy this place gets in prime weather and weekend evenings, but this was a cool spot to check out. read more

I've been coming to Lustre Pearl for some time and have always had a great time. Last night, there was an incredibly long line to the restroom (because of the football games) so I made my way to the bartender and asked "excuse me, are there any other restrooms", but the bartender hushed me as there was another group trying to order drinks. So I apologized and said I was just looking for a restroom (reaching critical levels of holding it) and he told me to "back the f^*% off". I understand bartending is stressful and there's a lot going on but this was really hurtful and I will not be going back. 2 stars instead of one since I understand its frustrating and it's mayhem in there with lots of drunk folks but this was just shocking levels of disrespect. read more

As much as I want to like this place, I have now been more than double charged twice within a year. The bartenders are never friendly even on days when nobody is there. I try to get in contact with them to fix my charges and their voicemail box is full and website is riddled with spam links that divert you from finding any other contact info. Chill vibe, lots of different spaces - ping pong and giant jenga near the front, room on the first floor, 2nd floor patio area with a view of the skyline. We liked that it had a crowd but wasn't as packed as the other spots on Rainey Street. The Lustre Lemonade was refreshing, a bit sweet, and still pretty strong. We got a picnic table that fit 6 fairly easily in the upstairs patio, but realized afterwards that there was only a bench on one side, so three of us actually had to stand on one side of the table. read more

I checked out Lustre Pearl about two weeks ago. The SXSWedu Launch Finals Party was held there during the conference. So, this review is more of what Lustre Pearl is like during a hosted event, and not the usual weekend experience. The outdoor patio area is why you would want to come to Lustre Pearl. It's really cute outside with the benches and how it looks like someone's porch. There's also a fun photo booth outside. Inside there is long bar and dance floor. Except for a giant, stuffed animal head hanging on the wall, nothing really stood out to me from the inside of the venue. Also, it was a bit of a nightmare to get drinks at the bar since it got so crowded in the hallway area. Maybe there's another bar upstairs, but the second floor was closed off for this event. It's a pretty venue. The SXSWedu Launch party was sponsored by the Walton Family Foundation (associated with Walmart-founder Sam Walton). There was a DJ. Attendees were given one drink ticket each for the bar and unlimited Bananarchy treats. It wasn't as generous as the SXSWedu Closing Party, but it was nice enough. read more

Me: "Uh no, this is a Vernors given to me from another server on Rainey for free that I was going to give to my wife to put in her purse" Door Guy: "GIVE THAT TO ME!!" Me: "um here" *gives can of Vernors to giant Hodor* Woman that was probably 50 years old that didn't see the "at door" exchange: "wow that was uncalled for!" Long story short, this not so gentle giant almost got his as beaten by a guy who was meeting his wife to spend money at his has-been of a bar, that combined have 120,000 social media followers, and is lucky that this is the only place they are posting, where they don't have any followers. read more

While the bar isn't anything particularly special, it's always got a decent crowd and has plenty of room. Games on the side, people always in a good mood.
