Walking around Westfield Montgomery Mall, I am always on the hunt for novel and new shops. I had not seen Lush before, so I decided to stop in. Handcrafted soap, sounds like a cute idea for stocking stuffers. Also, I am hyper allergic to soaps and I thought I might find something for myself too. They had some really cute designs of soaps. There was a huge assortment of soaps and gift ideas. But, in my time in the store, no one came up to me and offered any assistance. That is a pet peeve of mine. When, I picked up the soap, it had an unusual feel to it. It wasn't quite as soft as my Dove bar. I had no idea if that is a characteristic of natural soap or not? So, maybe you will have better luck than I did. They do have some cute soaps. But, the service went down the drain. That is why I gave them 3 stars. read more

I have used Lush products forever because they have one of the few shampoos that work well with my fine, thin hair. They recently introduced the Banana Conditioner as well and it's terrific for being thick but not heavy. While I've always had good service at this location (unlike someone below, I don't like when people ask if I need help, but Iike having people respond if I ask), the last two times I've been especially impressed. While overwhelmed with Christmas shopping, she took the time to help me find great options for my boyfriend, mom, and even for myself. KiKi was patient, thoughtful, and super sweet - we found personalized gifts. Also, I'm now hooked on Yog Nog and the Sticky Dates Hair Primer...didn't know how much I needed this in my life. I enjoyed my (first) visit to this store today but would probably have never stopped by if I hadn't read about Lush's convenient "shampoo bars" in a women's travel book. I was really intrigued by the idea and rushed in to ask about them without even looking around. I fortunately found a very kind associate who explained what they were, how they worked (you can lather them up like a regular bar of soap and then apply it to your hair) and all the different scents. I chose three lovely bars and then was given free samples at the register. Awesome! I wish I could have looked around more--I could have easily spent a few hours smelling and admiring everything (the soaps are very colorful and delicious-looking). I do think they are a little pricey at $15 a bar but they last for 2-3 weeks (or depending upon how often you wash your hair). Can't wait to try these! read more

My fiancé and I were last minute shopping for a special occasion so we decided to stop here for our last early Mother's Day gifts. We arrived a little before they were about to close, but the sales ladies were very courteous to us. She overheard us talking about bath bombs and swooped right in with some awesome recommendations of the newest, latest and greatest. So we each got a couple because I mean how awesome is that? Yeah I know right! We took a look at all the cool other things they had but didn't spend too long as they closed in a few minutes (don't be those customers ) we got rung up and out of their hair 4 minutes before closing. I just adore this Lush store. The associates are soooooo kind and attentive when I walk in the door. I came in last month to re-stock on my Dream Cream and was greeted by an associate with colored hair (possibly green). They found exactly what I need any allowed me to sample the Chastity Pot. I returned a month later just to buy a large Charity Pot. Ashley was great, allowed me to wash my hands, just so I could confirm it was the correct product I came in for. We have only discovered Lush recently. Our first exposure was the Tysons location. This location is very small compared to the other location. However, the staff was as enthusiastic and helpful as the other location. They definitely have some interesting items. My favorites are always the soaps. I have a soft spot for scented soaps. I love the brand. Their Tysons location is my preferred but since I was at this mall to run errands, I was like why not stop by. So, you know we are in a pandemic, and they reduce the amount of customers that can come in at once. At least at this location you can actually go in. Before, you enter the store, the employees will give you a lecture on their safety precautions. Only 3 customers in the store, no sampling for obvious reasons. However, they will give you samples in mini pod containers, for you to try at home. I was looking for my hair potion, R&B and they renamed it to Revive, which is my favorite hair product. Its expensive but worth it. A little goes a long way. read more

I don't have to go to Georgetown to get my Lush fix anymore! Today was their Grand Opening party at this Montgomery Mall location. While the odoriferous scents emerging from this store can be overwhelming, they are sure to lure you into purchasing body bling for yourself or your loved ones (including pals, teachers, mailmen, etc...). I'm a sucker for their Bath Bombs. They are a definite luxury item at almost $6 a pop. But is there anyone better to spoil than yourself? I like the Sex Bomb (flowery) and the Butterball (ylang ylang & vanilla) best. The bubble bar slices are nice too. Flosty Gritter will leave your skin glittering and smelling of lavender. The smell will linger in your bathroom too! The staff are really enthusiastic and helpful. Guys, ask them for suggestions. So I have been using Lush for years now, but because its more on the pricey side, I haven't been as "faithful"..and I don't like being a cheater.....whew, so glad I got that off my chest :) The customer service I received on my recent visit left me speechless...but let's talk products first. My go-to products: Ocean Salt scrub, which leaves your skin radiant with regular use. And Mask of Magnanimity, which also makes your skin radiant, clarifies your skin with regular use, and absorbs oil. I have also used some other products, but these two are my mainstays. Now, my real reason for writing this review is because of the outstanding service I received when I visited the store. The customer service was phenomenal, but I unfortunately forgot her name! She was very personable and knowledgable about the products. She also gave me a sample of a facial moisturizer without me having to ask. She even persuaded me to try a product I haven't used before called Tea Tree Water...so I'll see how this goes. This was by far the best service I ever received at Lush of any location. She went out of her way to be attentive, but not pushy..and she was sweet. Please look out for the young lady who is cute, a little quirky, with glasses, armed with the amazing story of how her acne prone skin was completely revolutionized by Lush products..so much so that she eventually became an employee. The store is located on the 2nd floor of the mall and is relatively spacious compared to other Lush locations. And it smells like heaven.....you can even smell them from the 1st floor..love it! It was in the VERY busy Westfield Montgomery Mall and it was 6pm on a Saturday and she still managed to nail being attentive and focused on me and all my questions effortlessly. She even shooed a few salespeople away from us as she was washing and lotioning my hands with samples and explaining each of their benefits. She had a sale, from that point, officially. I bought a few things that addressed my issues, and I will say, I'm in love with the products I tried. They smell yummy AND THEY WORK! The Cupcake mask is the cat's pajamas! RUB, RUB, RUB body scrub with fine sea salt has me subconsciously rubbing my own legs like a wayward 16 yr old boy. IM SO SAWWWF! Yesssss, its pricey, don't even wonder. Its not cost effective at all. A lil bitty bucket of about 7 full body scrubs is like 0ver 30 bux, but DO IT ANYWAY! TREAT YOURSELF! why the fugg not? So long funny story short; while walking the mall my whole life I always avoided walking past the "stinky stores." I am so happy I finally plugged my nose and walked in to see what they had for my mom's birthday. I'm officially addicted to the smelly store I used to avoid!!!!!!! I felt like I was walking on foreign territory but Lucy greeted us with open arms. I was overwhelmed at first but she guides us basically through the whole store. I waked to get my mom a face mask for the wrinkles she thinks she has *big dramatic eye roll* I told Lucy what I wanted and she knew exactly what I needed, Ayesha. (I have to admit some of the names make me laugh.) At first I was turned off by the smell but Lucy told me this works wonders. I was told it needed to stay in the fridge so I had to put a "DO NOT EAT! This is a face mask" sign so no one would spread it on their crackers. My boyfriend was intrigued by their soap and was extremely happy when Lucky told him "tell me what you want to spend and I will cut you a piece that matches that price." My daughter is almost 4 and she was in awe with all of the colors. Lucy nailed it with showing her all of the fun stuff in the store. Lucy even played with the showergel with Bella. I used to write off LUSH as a gimmicky hippy store selling products that much like vegan food, were only useful or appealing for vegans. My skin has always sucked. Acne prone like the dickens and Ive spent thousands on mainstream products that never made a difference. After a recent vacation, i noticed my hair and skin were better due to the salt water. I read online that Lush carried a few products using sea salt and seaweed. I stopped in to buy their Ocean Salt face & body scrub. The employees are helpful, friendly, and engaging. They offered their advice while i perused the shelves of moisturizers, soaps, and lotions. I bought a bunch of stuff that day- Ocean Salt Angels on Bare Skin face cleanser Grease Lightning spot treatment BB seaweed Mask.... My skin and hair have changed immensely in the last few months. I've been shopping at Montgomery Mall since the fourth grade, and I've loved bath products for about as long, so when Lush opened on the second floor, next to Swarovski, I was delighted. Sure, you can smell the place from the food court and sure, it is a little pricey, but you guys! They have a bath fizzy called a Sex Bomb that is INCREDIBLE. It turns your bath pink, and your skin delicious. Seriously, if I was a dude, I would ravish me nonstop after I used one of those things; it's the best scent in the world, second only to Lush's Honey I Washed the Kids soap (honey and caramel). If you pick up a bar, I guarantee you'll want to eat it. They also have a ton of freshly made face masks (my boyfriend got me an oatmeal/banana/cinnamon one called Oatfix, and my roommate picked up one called Love Lettuce) that smell incredible and make your face super soft. And bath scrub that can double as shampoo. And shampoo that smells like coconuts. And chocolate-filled massage bars that melt on contact. Mmm. To add compliments to ravery, the people who work at the store have always given me stellar customer service; everyone is friendly, informative, and attentive. I'm always asked if I need assistance or want to try something out, and the staff really know a lot about the products. Plus, they give me free samples, so how can I not love them? Nice Lush store here. Not huge but big enough so you can navigate pretty easily. They have a great variety of products the staff is helpful if you have questions in trying to figure out what you might need or want. It's been a while since I've bought anything but the great thing about lush products is they are made by real people and they're not tested on animals. For those not familiar with Lush they make amazing fizzy bath balls which they are well known for but they also make facial cleansers, body lotions, solid shampoos which I really like. Since someone had recommended the Catastrophe Cosmetic mask, I thought I would give it a try. Although I still have spots, I've noticed a difference after one week. While I was there, I was given a sample of the cleanser soap with chamomile in it as well. I thought it worked well that I returned at a later date to purchase a bar. Now, I want to try their other items including the bath ones. Although I don't recall her name, the girl with the tatt on her ring finger was very helpful. She explained all of the products in which I was interested. Even after my purchase, she took the time to explain some other products and events further. I should start this by saying I'm not the most feminine girl you'll ever encounter. My idea of getting ready in the morning involves brushing my hair and teeth, throwing on whatever clothes are work appropriate and clean, and rushing out the door in under fifteen minutes total. Despite all this, I've been a Lushie for about seven years now. It started with a Butterball, one of their lovely bath bombs, and has continued since then. I can honestly say I have tried at least 75% of the products the company makes in the US, including Retro products not available in store. I'm a Chicago native, and was very sad when I moved away from an area where I could get my Lush products fresh, but since I moved to Bethesda, I've been very pleased with the Lush in Montgomery Mall. First, and probably most importantly, the shopgirls are AMAZING. Since my first visit, they've done their best to help me where needed, or just talk. I even got a Christmas gift from Alicia for helping them with some suggestive selling around the holidays. (What can I say? I can't pass up an opportunity to tell people how awesome some of the products are!) The girls are also not pushy with their sales, which is a big bonus for me. If you say something's out of your budget range, they'll try to find you a similar product for less. Secondly, the products. Ohmigod. Where should I even begin? Whatever your skin type, you will find a perfect skin care regimen at Lush, and the girls are happy to give you samples of whatever you want to try to find it! All the products are fresh, and have a suggested "use by" date on the packaging so you can be sure you're getting the most out of your product. The bath bombs are great fun, and if you're like me and don't have a bathtub, there are some shower bombs so you're not left out of the fun. There are tons of products to smell and try, so it's worth it to spend a while in the store. And don't think it's all just girly products! They have lots of stuff for the guys too, including a really awesome shave cream. There are a variety of prepackaged gifts too, for that last minute gift. =) Aesthetically speaking, Lush is gorgeous. The entire back wall is bath bombs of a variety of bright and beautiful colors, and the displays are fantastic. Parts of the store look more like a market than a cosmetics shop! A complaint I hear from a lot of people is that Lush is expensive. Not so! Compare the prices of Lush's skin products to many high end cosmetics that give similar results, and you'll see that Lush's prices are pretty darn reasonable. They are certainly not cheap, but I feel that it's worth spending a little more to get products that really work, and are socially responsible. They also do a lot to minimize both their waste and their costs, such as using packaging without a ton of labels, and giving discounts when you bring in your empty product containers. I could spend hours gushing about Lush, but I should stop here. =) I can't stress how great this place is. I absolutely suggest a visit to anyone who takes care of their skin, hair, and general well-being. (Which should be everyone!) read more

In a mall that has been deteriorating over the years, Lush is the probably the only thing that brings me back. I am ADDICTED to their Ocean Salt Scrub which is the only thing that I feel truly cleans my skin. I wasn't sure how I felt about it at first, but when I walked into the store and one of the associates helped me try it out, I was sold. Now, I buy it for every female in my life, and they quickly become addicts themselves! Since I'm neurotic about my lips, I'm also hooked on their Sweet Lips Lip Scrub which is the perfect cure for chapped lips! (Although I follow it up with EOS lip balm and not one from Lush) If you've never been, you just don't know what you're missing out on. Make sure you let one of the super adorable associates know that it's your 1st time and they will help you test and sample any and every item that you desire. No animal testing, 70% free of wasteful packaging are some of the lengths that this company goes to be great. "Holy bath-bomb, Bathman!!" I have never seen an entire wall lined with baskets full of bath bombs before in my life! What a crazy selection! If you have time to come in and play a little, I recommend coming in here and taking a look around. They've got some great eye candy - the dessert theme in is full effect, from the jello hair gel to the giant soap cakes. Everything looks so delicious! Careful not to bring the little ones in here unless you have a good eye on them; of course one bite and they'll never do it again!! I loved the really fun names for their products, like "Sonic Death Monkey, Skinny Dip, Whoosh, and Honey I Washed the Kids". I was a tad disappointed that they use parabens to preserve their products, but the nice employee told me that they use the minimal amount necessary and the two safest parabens, which is always a good thing! I really like their fresh face masks. NO PRESERVATIVES!! They have a section where bowls of crazy concoctions like, "Love Lettuce", "Cupcake" and "BB Seaweed" sit so that you can sample them on your skin. Don't worry - they have a big sink in the back, so feel free to get a little dirty. I wanted to take a spoon to the Cupcake 'cause it looked like chocolate pudding!! I took a Love Lettuce home with me - it's a great exfoliating mask and leaves my face feeling wonderful. I also got the Buffy Bar which is an exfoliating bar with Cocoa and Shea butter. If you're not in a rush, stick around and get a hand massage. The nice gal in the back did two different treatments on both of my hands and I left the store feeling silky smooth. I love Lush! Their products are excellent and you get to try just about everything. I don't think I've ever bought a single product I didn't like here. I am in love with their Godiva Shampoo bar right now. I originally bought it as a way to cut down on the liquids / bulk when flying and camping but now I just use it everyday because it's like no other shampoo I've used. Most shampoos these days are either so cheap that they leave your hair stripped and dried (VO5, Suave), or so filled with synthetic chemicals and -cones that they leave your hair rather heavy (Pantene). With four swipes of a bar, my scalp and hair feels squeaky clean and has body without being a poof ball or a bodyless, sullen mess. My other favorites include the body bars such as buffy and aqua mirabilis because they leave your skin so soft without being sticky and I love the scrubby, massage-y action!!! Unfortunately they discontinued the the Mange Too massage bar which was sooooooooo nice. My only qualm is that Lush's shopkeepers always try to ask if they can help you or show you something but I know it's not their fault; I'm the type who likes to quietly browse but would like the option to ask questions when I feel like it. read more

The employees here are awesome. Flat out 1 word- AWESOME I came in not really knowing what to expect. I was looking for some type of bubble bath thingy to try with a lady friend so had to try to impress. I ended up trying lotions too. Dream cream and hand gurugala, I tried the sea salt and face wash and put on more lotion. The employee put sea salt on my hands and scrubbed it over a water basin, then after I rinsed it off she gave me this green mask thing for my face. After the mask was done she gave me lotion for my extra dry skinned face. It was overall a REALLY fun experience, and I left with a few tiny sample containers that are all used up now. This is a smaller Lush compared to other Lush stores that I've been to. But even with it being smaller, goodness it is still the amazingness that is LUSH! I get kinda fussy when my husband uses the bath bombs because I know eventually every cabinet and drawer won't smell like them anymore. We came on a busy Saturday and the queue was a little long but they kept smiling and asking people if they'd seen this or that. And did you want to try this or you had to try that. I adore their lip scrub and the chocolate face mask. One you can eat, one you cannot no matter how much it smells and looks like brownie batter. I've never been on a Lush trip where I haven't heard someone say, "okay, I'm ready to checkout...oh wait...what's that?" And out of the line they go to find more goodies. I love that they always give samples to try. I've seen a few buy a certain amount and get a grab bag. It's a great way to try some new products all while buying the ones you know and love. read more

My skin loves Lush! The staff is always extremely helpful. My favorite is the guy who is always there - he is very knowledgeable, and willing to show me different things to combat oily skin. The products are really great. I have acne-prone skin, and by regularly using their face masks and soap I haven't had a breakout in months. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is the last time I was there (not a busy time of year) they were out of stock of some of their staples like "coal face" and "cosmetic warrior." It is either outstanding or terrible that Lush moved into the mall near where I work. I love being able to stop by to pick up items, especially the fresh face masks (Catastrophe Cosmetic = instant skin improvement!). But I probably should create a separate line item in my Mint.com budget for Lush, I'm over there so much. Increased Lush purchases, though, don't seem to have impacted my overall bottom line much, and this is because Lush only SEEMS expensive. Okay, yes, a $6 bath bomb means you spend $6 to take a bath. But cosmetic products like shampoo bars and facial cleansers work better and last infinitely longer than the stuff you get in a plastic container at Target. I don't find myself trying (and throwing away) much that doesn't work when I get it from Lush. And they're pretty liberal with the samples. Unlike the Georgetown location, I find that the employees here are friendly, but don't hover. Nothing's worse than wanting to walk around the store, smelling things and testing them out and enjoying the leisurely Lush experience, but instead being tailed by an employee. They definitely don't do that here. But they will help you if you need it. One employee spent an inordinate amount of time with me, helping me figure out which shade of the color supplement I needed. Eventually they started to recognize me (also, I apparently increasingly have the look of a Lushie about me...must be the improved Lushified skin), and now they'll just tell me about any new products they have in, without any additional sales pitch at all. I have to admit, I've become a little obsessed with this place. The manager of the store is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and she hasn't steered me wrong yet. I really have to credit them for helping me with my troubled skin - I tried almost everything to get my skin to calm down and stop breakouts, but the ladies at LUSH offered me a free sample of their Aqua Marina cleanser and I haven't gone back to the chemical awfulness of grocery store facial cleansers. Their wrapped gifts are perfect for people who love a nice bath and love smelling yummy! Their prices are a little high at times, but are worth every single penny. I stopped in yesterday on a quick break from work (I'm self employed, but I was between appointments) and was lucky to be helped by Nani. She greeted me immediately, asked a bunch of questions about what I was looking for and my skin type, and she helped me purchased 3 AMAZING products: cleansing face soap (Fresh Farmacy), toner (Tea Tree Water), and moisturizer (Enzymion). So far, I'm loving them! Yesterday was not my first trip to this LUSH location, but it definitely left an impact that made me want to leave a review. Matt is the best salesperson ever. He helped me find a shampoo and deodorant for me and a massage bar for my mom. He knew every product and was so friendly and helpful. Lush can be pricey, so sometimes I get nervous to spend a lot of money on things that I don't know will work for my sensitive skin. Matt gave me a couple samples so I could try the products I was iffy about first without any buyer's remorse. All in all, it was a great experience! read more
