Great night at Lupe Tortilla. We started with sweet tea and ice water (both hit the spot) plus the usual chips and salsa. The borracho beans that come with the chips were excellent--flavorful and a nice extra instead of just salsa. We ordered fajitas for two, specifically the beef with the chili-lime sauce. The marinade on that beef is outstanding. Tender, well-seasoned, and the sizzling platter with the grilled peppers and onions looked and tasted like it should. Sides of rice, guacamole, pico, beans, and sour cream rounded it out perfectly. Plenty of food for two. Finished with an order of sopapillas. Hot, light, dusted with powdered sugar, and the honey dip was exactly what we wanted. Simple and done right. Solid Tex-Mex, good portions, and the kind of meal that makes you want to come back. It's been awhile since I've been to a Lupe's Tortilla, so I was today years old when I learned that the bean salsa (charro beans) given with our tortilla chips is to DIE FOR - it was so yummy! For food, we ordered the Chicken Taco Salad and the Chicken Lupe Tacos. Both tasted great and were a plentiful portion. The Taco Salad was interesting to us, however, since we expected it to be a salad in a Taco bowl, and instead this salad had pieces of taco shells mixed into the salad. Either way, it did taste great and we were able to get the vibe of what we wanted by eating the salad with the tortilla chips we had at the table. Speaking of which, with the Poblano ranch, this salad honestly tasted like a chip dip almost! The greens were chopped really finely and it become a creamy, fresh combo that was delicious with chips. As for the Chicken Tacos, delicious and filling plate of 2 tacos on flour tortillas with flavorful Mexican rice, beans, and a simple chopped salad on the side. What a great family friendly restaurant here in Houston. The atmosphere is loud, energetic, and welcoming. I was visiting friends here in Houston and this is a favorite spot of theirs && righty so. The food is delicious and completely shareable. We had the table side Guac with fresh chips, YUM! The steak fajitas were delicious and we shared the dish amongst the three of us && were stuffed. The large skinny margaritas (I know, ironic) were fresh and wonderful! I really enjoyed that the restaurant had lots of families and children, a great place to bring your family. Love that! Ordered dinner from Lupe Tortillas on 249 and was quite disappointed with my usual order of Mushroom tacos Al carbon. They were overcooked and extremely tough. I reached out online to voice my complaint and received no response. My husband ordered a side of guacamole and it was not included in our order yet we were charged. This is probably the most expensive Mexican food in the area and it is good food but unfortunately they cannot get a to-go order correct, ever. They will read your order out loud to you as they are handing it to you, but it is rarely on time or correct. When you dine in a manager always stops by to check on the food and service but their to-go ordering is a train wreck. Getting a human on the phone is difficult and when you explain the errors as you drive to the restaurant for a second trip, all they offer is more food, no discount on the price. So good. I crave this queso all the time. I grew up with it right down the street but didn't go much because it was expensive (it is really expensive), but it's worth it. I went in by myself, sat at a table in the bar area. Waited a good 5 mins for someone to come over. I got chips & salsa, no drink order, no menu, no silverware. I had to ask for a menu & silverware. I am a consistent patron that will no longer be coming here. I came here yesterday with a group. My truck keys were set on the table because I didn't think that I wasn't allowed to set my keys on the table, one of the bus boys threw my keys away. The manager Cesar. Had no regard whatsoever towards the situation and pretty much said hey sorry will call you if we find it. No care in the world of how the truck is going to get taken home or how we're gonna get home. Just hey if we find them, we'll call you. Now this is going to cost me almost $1000 getting the truck towed re-keyed and the new fob. The other manager told me that he would be of help and pretty much just prolonged everything an extra night to leave my truck sit overnight. Now they're saying they can do nothing and that I have to have the truck towed even though their staff member is the one that took my keys from the table and threw them away. I've heard great things about this place, and finally got to go. It did NOT disappoint at all, in fact it was probably the best customer service I have ever experienced. Our waiter, Ryan, was friendly and seemed happy, which is what you want your employees to have when they work. Since it was my first time here, they brought me some sample tacos to try, and the manager brought them. He was so kind, and again, he looked like he enjoyed being there, and had a nice appreciation for food, which I love. The tortillas are HUGE and buttery, they absolutely melt in your mouth. The beef fajitas are amazing, and the beef is perfect. Most places, the beef is tough and hard the chew, but this beef caused no struggle at all. I came for a late dinner with a friend and the place was VERY busy. In fact, it's usually always busy! This Tex Mex chain is my absolute favorite! I've never had anything that I didn't like here. Manager walked around checking on each table. Our waitress was attentive and provided excellent service. The one downfall that was unexpected is when I got my check and paid with my card. I noticed they wrote down my CVV # on the ticket. I thought that was super strange. When I asked the waitress about it, she said it's for HR purposes. Super sketchy! This was very tasty. We had dinner here on our first night in town, my boyfriend used to go here when he lived in Houston. We weren't super hungry so we split the tableside guacamole and a half-pound order of the fajitas with steak and chicken. I've only had guacamole made tableside maybe one other time, and it was a treat. The fajitas were also very tasty, though I'll caution that the tomatoes they serve with them are pretty spicy. My boyfriend actually forgot his credit card there that night and we called the next night to see if they had it - they did, in their safe, and we were able to stop by at 930pm the next night, even though they closed at 9pm, which was excellent customer service IMO. Lupe Tortilla, I'm about to put you back on my do not eat list! I should've been done with you when I received pink chicken 2 years ago. I specifically asked for made to order fresh fajitas when I placed my order from your togo parking area. My order came out and my chicken and steak fajitas registered at 96 to 98 degrees according to my thermal temperature gauge. I wanted my togo fajitas to hot as if I was dining in at your restaurant, and they come to me sizzling hot! I sent the fajitas back and requested hot fajitas and you guys put the same fajitas in the microwave or back on the grill which somewhat dried them out! After waiting in my car for about 10 minutes they came back out. Yes they were hot and steam was coming from the container. It registered at 135 degrees, but when I got home the chicken was dry. The beef was somewhat dry but not dry as the chicken. That was very tacky that you microwaved or tossed the items back on the grill! Their brunch is amazing and I don't come here for brunch enough. Everything from the huevos rancheros, pancakes, and my favorite the enchiladas and eggs are all divine. Their iced coffee is pretty tasty too! We come here often and I can honestly say I have never had bad service or a bad meal here. My daughters absolutely love coming to Lupe Tortilla and my oldest just turned five and requested coming here just so they could sing her happy birthday. We have been coming here many many times over the last 10 years. The quality of service has greatly declined with newer managers. We came recently with 4 children, each of who ordered meals off the kids menu. For some reason, one was rang up as an adult and got an adult meal. We didn't notice, and the child did not eat even half of it. When I saw it on the check, I asked the server about it, I DID NOT ask to change the check. I was fine paying for what we got, even though it was not what was ordered. I just pointed it out and questioned it. The server was extremely sweet and apologized and offered to change it- again, we did not ask for it nor expected it. A manager eventually came out after a long wait and was extremely rude and said she would not do anything. This was uncalled for, as once again, we did NOT even ask for anything. Our server eventually came back by and was very confused about why the manager acted that way as well. That should have been a conversation in the background between the manager and the server, and handled very differently. That is a great way to kill your loyal customer base. The conclusion is that it's my own fault the delivery meal was poor. Perhaps they could have told this to my partner when the food was ordered. If you plan to eat at Lupe Tortilla on the weekend, please opt-in their waiting list on their website to save a bit of time. We waited about 30-45 mins for a table. We were sat in the far back and our waiter Parker was excellent. My husband ordered the smoked salmon benedict, and I had the carne asada & eggs. The smoked salmon benedict was a bit fishy for our taste buds, my husband's theory was it was not fresh and probably was frozen. The carne asada & eggs were a hit and my favorite. Since we were seated in the back of the restaurant that connected to the patio area, they had the AC turned on full blast. Do not forget to grab a sweater or asks to be seated elsewhere. While my friend and other people were eating in this restaurant, several cars were broken into. Nobody was notified that this was happening nor were there any cameras where this happened. My friend saw her car and others and went inside and asked staff to let other people know that their cars were broken into, and they didn't, but were told this had happened times before and nothing was done about it. Cops took an hour to arrive and didn't have anything to report because nobody was told anything about what happened or saw anything. Y'all need to put cameras up and let people know what's happening and stop trying to protect the reputation of your restaurant. read more

Hubby and I visited on July 31, 2025 around 5:30pm. Food great and came out just like we ordered (substitutes and extra cooked on chicken per request). Mainly want to write this because we had one of the BEST SERVICE experiences we've had in years. Waiter was named "NICHOLAS" and we never had to ask for refills. He brought them out automatically. Refreshed our chips, and just seemed like he was happy to be there. Very thorough.
