Usually love the experience and the food here. We got the gradiloso fajitas with the shrimp beef and chicken. The shrimp and bacon were raw so we sent it back and they gave us a whole new entree including rice and beans. We ended up taking most of the meal to go and had it the next night for dinner. I am the only one to have the refried beans and was up all nite sick. This is the second time getting food poisoned off of their beans. The first time was at the Plano location. I can't believe they got me again. My only guess is they leave beans sitting out all day not at a high enough temperature or they make such a large batch and keep serving until out and they aren't necessarily fresh. LUPE TORTILLA I LIKE TACOS TOO ! The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, the presentation of the food is spot on, but the food and the service could use some seasoning! The restaurant that use to be here was my favorite Italian Restaurant, The Macaroni Grill. So since I was in Addison, I decided to stop by and have some Tex-Mex. I mentioned to the hostess this was my first time at Lupe Tortilla. She gathered the menu and leaned over to a waitress (We will call V) to tell her this was my first time (Remember this for the end). I ordered a water and was quickly served chips with a decent salsa and delicious charro beans. After looking over the menu I settled on The Pablo Combo with a side of tortillas. Upon first sight everything looks appetizing but only the cheese enchilada and tamale had flavor. The taco meat wasn't bad but wasn't really anything to write about. The rice had a very strong smokey flavor to it and the refried beans were bland. But the tortillas were HUGE and homemade, I think. The service started off great and slightly dipped. After receiving my meal my glass was half full (lol choose your perspective) and it would not be refilled until I finished my meal and got the hostesses attention because my waitress was on the other side of the bar on her phone, then talking to co workers, then exited to the kitchen, etc... basically didn't look my way. And no there were maybe 8 customers in the entire establishment and a staff of 10 in the front, not including kitchen or buss m boys. The icing on the cake was when the hostess sat a couple next to me. Before I began writing this the manager came by with a plate with two tacos on it and asked how everything was and as I was telling him it was "fine". The manager then turned to them and said, "I hear this your first time here so I brought you a sample of our tacos". Also as I write this their server and my server is back there eating. I can literally see V chowing down, on her phone and not paying attention to the free taco couple and myself. Still get's 12%. WARNING: Do not eat at Lupe Tortilla if you value your health and money. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for years but over the past year, this place has gone downhill. Tonight, we spent $100 on a meal that could very well send my boyfriend to the hospital. The chicken was raw -- not undercooked, but RAW. My boyfriend, who was hungry, started eating before realizing, and now we are worried that he could get sick. This is beyond unacceptable -- it's dangerous. The rest of the meal wasn't much better. The steak was awful, the queso had cold, unmelted clumps of cheese, and despite asking for extra onions and peppers, we didn't receive any. Clearly, no care or attention went into preparing this food. If my boyfriend becomes ill, we will be holding this restaurant accountable. Tried this spot after craving some Mexican food. We are from New Mexico so we eat it all the time and this place was really good for TexMex. Best fajitas from a restaurant i have ever had in the beef. The puffy tacos and braised beef enchiladas were great as well and good beans and rice. Only complaint is the flour tortillas are super thin but it actually was ok because you could taste more of the fajita meat and toppings. read more

12-26-2022 First visit, Monday after Christmas, the restaurant was short staffed and it showed. 30 minute wait for a table. That's understandable, but after we were seated it was 20 minutes before the server came over to even greet us, she apologized for the wait and told us they were short staffed. She took the drink orders and let us know she would get us chips & salsa. We took that opportunity to place or food orders. From her comments it sounded like the management needed to close off some sections, the servers were spread to thin. Our server did her best, to keep drinks & salsa & chips filled, and she was polite with a good attitude. The inside is loud and large, they have outside seating as well for those few Texas patio weather days. Full bar Inside. The chili con queso appetizer is served with jalapeños on the side. The regular size was big enough for four. Chips were being made, so the waitress brought us corn and flour tortillas to enjoy with the queso. The flour tortillas were huge, I'm talking burrito size. I highly recommend the corn tortillas..... oh my gosh they were thick, soft, hot and Extremely delicious even eating them by itself. I ordered the Chicken Flaca - Marinated grilled chicken breasts, spinach, artichoke, substituted the roasted red pepper cream sauce for the tomatillo sauce with the seasonal vegetables (spaghetti squash) instead of rice and beans. I wasn't sure on spaghetti squash at a mexican restaurant however it was deliciously light, not over cooked with a cilantro flavor, excellent low carb option. The quality of food is better than your average mexican restaurant. Dinner prices are about $17+ per person and seafood dishes were $20+pp. Looking forward to having more corn tortillas and trying other seasonal vegtables. read more

Was kind, knowledgeable, and ensured I never needed for a thing. Okay the food, right? 1,000/100!!!! From the fresh chips, salsa, and beans served to the tables to the LARGE dinner plates (I typically always want something off the lunch menu). Food was only mediocre at best and the price was ridiculous. The tacos al carbon plate was 20.95 and it only comes with two tacos that hardly had any meat. The crispy taco plate was 14.95 which the the most I have ever paid for basic tacos. All in all we spent $80 plus a tip for three plates, 3 beers, and two soft drinks. I wish I could say it was worth the price but even presentation of food was not worth it. Our waiter was good and that is why I still give this restaurant 3 stars. read more

H had been telling me about a meal he had at another location while he was traveling for work, so we decided to stop by. The staff seemed friendly, and the churro/boracho beans were delicious. We were stoked to order the fajitas, but they turned out to be pretty disappointing- the beef was super chewy and tough, and the flavor was interesting, but not really a profile that I enjoyed. The super large and paper thin tortillas were really great if eaten immediately, but became very hard and dry/chewy half way through eating my first fajita. The shrimp was super salty but the spicy butter helped mask that. Honestly, I could barely eat any of it and felt awful all night afterwards. Definitely not a fav, but I do wish we had given their chicken a shot so I could have left a more well rounded review. Another side note is that after we left, we got on Yelp to see if it was just this location that wasn't so great, and immediately saw that on a couple of weeknights (one of the nights we were there) they offer half off the 1pound fajitas... we both got 1/2 LB fajitas and the waitress didn't mention that if we had ordered the 1 pound we could have had the perk of our meal being discounted- so that just honestly left a bad taste with us about their way of doing business on top of us really not enjoying the food. Over all it's ok, I might have been open to coming back to try something different, but it just wasn't a good enough experience to even want to give them another chance. read more

Went on Saturday late afternoon. Not many people in restaurant. Waited a while for water and chips. Waitress came after a while....we ordered and a really nice manager came over because it was our 1st time to eat here. He gave us a schpeel about how they make tortillas and their beef the best. He brought 2 mini beef fajita tacos to try. Thankfully we ordered the chicken fajitas. The beef was pure fat and couldn't bite into. Charro beans are delivered with the chips and salsa. Short & sweet on this one. As a family get together we all went to Lupe Tortilla for a nice diner, it's a favorite spot for my family. We were celebrating a birthday. Everyone had great food but me! I ordered hatch green Chile stew, and it looked delicious, unfortunately it was loaded with pieces of jalapeño cheese sausage that was burned so much, it was black on one side, like it had been scrapped off the bottom of a pan . It was so burnt tasting and that taste totally took over the broth. I will go back but be careful about what I choose to order!! Still love it! read more

I try and give this location the benefit of the doubt because it's closer than Allen. Unfortunately this location is horrible! Our waitress is slow and rarely comes around. Something at the bar is ALWAYS broken like the blender again this time. Weird because Bed Bath is right up the street to get another one. Lastly, it always takes 20+ minutes to get your food when there's only 8 tables with customers. I just need to let it go and go to Allen or stop coming in general. This was a nice surprise. I read the reviews prior to selecting Lupe as our next Tex Mex outing and it was terrific. We ordered the queso and it was very good. The chips were the thin crispy type that went well with the queso. We got a second basket of chip to finish off the queso. My wife had the beef enchiladas plate. It was enough to take home after filling up in the restaurant. I had the taco salad with fried chicken. We both said that we would order our meals again. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant was Tex mex and that was exactly what you want when you go for this type of menu. Our server was experienced and that also added to our experience. We come here twice a month and sit at the bar mostly. The service we receive is totally abysmal by both bar tenders. They act as if they don't see us and are never proactive. I've eaten here previously, with a group of co-workers, for dinner and it was very good. Today we went early, for Brunch. They serve you with chips that are thin and crispy, with a salsa and a pinto bean "dip" that reminded me if a pinto bean soup, just a bit thicker consistency. Both were great, with the salsa providing a good amount of heat. We ordered the Barbacoa Omelette with refried beans and potatoes. The refried beans were awesome, some of the best refried beans I've had. The potatoes were good, flavored well, but weren't hot and were kind of dry. The Omelette was exceptional, it was filled with braised beef that was so good. The description said that it had chile-lime hollandaise and roasted poblano, but I didn't taste or really see that, it was covered with ancho chile sauce and cheddar cheese, and it really was tasty. We also had The Chong, which was 2 Green Chicken Enchiladas and a Crispy Chicken Taco, with rice and beans. The taco was wonderful! It was made with fajita chicken, which had a nice char and was juicy chicken pieces. The enchiladas were sizeable and filled with white meat chicken that was juicy and tender, but not full of flavor, it tasted like good chicken. It was covered with a verde or tomatillo sauce, which was good but for anyone with a cilantro aversion, the sauces prominent flavor was cilantro so be aware. The rice and beans were some of the better that I've had, particularly in that the rice was not dry and it did have a nice flavor. The food is great, but does lack salt, so they need to add a dash of salt, particularly to their chips. Our server, Michael, was very pleasant and did a great job of taking care of us today. I'd recommend it and I'll definitely go back, possibly again for brunch because they have a great selection on the main menu, but some nice choices for brunch as well. read more
