I come here at least once a week and it never misses. The pineapple margaritas taste like tropical smoothies and they always give plenty of limes which I appreciate more than I can explain. I decided to give this place a try because it's right next to my apartment, and my expectations were low, but I never expected to receive a plain white rice burrito. The bistek (steak) burrito was bland and just tasted like the flour tortilla. I had to use all of the salsa given so that it would have flavor. The meat had a chewy and almost stewed like flavor that. The only saving grace was the fiesta nachos I got with carne asada and the red salsa. The carne asada had a nice flavor from the marinade they use, the chips tasted like they were freshly made from corn tortillas and were great. This is a fast casual taco restaurant which offers your staple and simple tex-mex items. You order your meals then you choose your table and the server brings your food to you. Taqueria ventana is a great quick and casual option. The food is decent, but nothing particularly special. We got the chips and queso, 3 tacos, and the elotes. I was disappointed by the chips, but everything else was just fine. The service was good and all of the employees were generally friendly. I've been to La Ventana in Addison many times, and it's always a fantastic experience. On my most recent visit, I had two shredded pork tacos and two vegetable tacos, all served on corn tortillas (though they kindly let me know I could get flour tortillas instead). The flavor was outstanding--fresh, authentic, and full of that perfect balance of seasoning that makes their tacos some of the best around. Their corn is also incredible and always a must-order for me. To go with my meal, I tried their pineapple habanero margarita, and it was excellent--refreshing, with just the right amount of sweetness and spice. I sat outside at the bar since the weather was beautiful, and the atmosphere made everything even more enjoyable. The real standout, though, was the service. Robert, the bartender, along with his colleagues, was incredibly friendly, caring, and attentive. Since I'm a type 1 diabetic, I had some questions about the drinks, and they went above and beyond to check in on me, even asking a few times about my blood sugar levels throughout my visit and as I was leaving. They also mentioned how it helps them learn more about serving guests with different health needs, which really showed their thoughtfulness. La Ventana continues to be one of my favorite spots in Addison--not just for the food and drinks, but for the welcoming people who make the experience memorable. Overall score 9 of 10. Service was super fast (3-5 minutes and food was ready). Guacamole is really good. Most add-ons come on the side. If you want to add grilled onions on the inside - order it that way or they are 'on the side'. Also, the lettuce had tomato bits on top along with a full drizzle of sour cream. Nice place, chill vibes, but the tacos were not so great. I ordered 4 Barbacoa tacos and I barely got through 1 of them. A lot of it was fatty. Luckily I ordered chips and queso, too. This was a spot had been wanting to check out as a hole in the wall taco spot. When you enter it definitely has a different feel from other spots and you'll order directly at the counter and csn place drink there's too, their margaritas are pretty good. They do give you a random name for your order, my name for it was Phillipe lol. I was fine with that but was thrown off when k had to go to the back kitchen where the food came out and pick up my order and deliver it. Just was something different and wasn't told so my food was slightly cold by the time it realized. The Al pastor was very good though and recommend trying that one. Let me say, I looooove La Ventana. Their downtown and Oak Lawn locations are always happy hour favorites. The addison location did not disappoint. There is much more seating than the Oak Lawn location, good shaded patio too. We ordered a large food delivery this time and they got our complicated 12 person order exactly right, prepared and delivered on time, hot, and CHEAP!!! the entrees were under budget so we were able to get tons of chips and guac for everyone. Their tacos are simple--corn tortillas filled with meat, onions, cilantro, and lime wedges on the side, but that is all you need. I took my first bite and I do not think I stopped until I got to the last one. Every bite was better than the last. I love that they have put a modern spin and feel on the street taco and still have kept it authentic and delicious. Another best was the service.
