Looked at the menu online and their Larger BBQ Plate stated $8.95 with a side. I called to place the order, and they stated that the Large BBQ plate was $19.57 due to the additional food you receive like baked beans, bread, and fries. I placed the order and picked it up and it was a small plate not worth 19.57 it was worth like there menu stated 8.95. The meal was not good! The BBQ pork was not smoked well, and it seemed to be prepacked food. I would say the fries were ok though. In addition, there is no drink with the order as well. You would think I was ordering up north from a big city like Chicago who charge that much for food. They need to rethink their prices. I will never go here again. BTW I am from Chicago. read more

Drove an hour and fifteen minutes to get there once we ordered our appetizer it came the same time our food did , never got a salad we ordered, my wife ordered a bbq potato after about 10 minutes they told her they was out of potatoes they ask would you like to order something else she said yes can I see the menu again the waitress said yes but never brought one the waitress never came over to refill our drinks or ask did we need any sauces for our steaks or chicken there was 4 of us , that's the first time I have never left a nice tip we will never go back, the way we found the place was on fb, never had that bad of experience at a restaurant read more

Stopped in the other day for lunch. Ordered the large Pulled Pork platter, sides were coleslaw & beans (came with French fries). Pulled Pork was very good, had a nice, smokey flavor to it. Sides were decent also. Staff was very friendly, I would certainly drop in again if passing by. read more

Another excellent Alabama BBQ establishment. The large BBQ plate is about $7 and the small is $6. Plenty of meat; the baked potato and bbq beans were delicious; the salad was pretty normal. Stopped in and tried the BBQ sandwich-below average and they charge you for sauce. Ordered hush puppies and they tasted like nothing, literally nothing and were dry. Ordered potato salad as a side, when we asked if it was homemade the waitress didn't know! The potato salad was okay, heavy with mayo but not much flavor otherwise. We ordered the pickle chips which were extremely greasy and salty. The restaurant itself was in disrepair, holes in the ceiling, ceiling falling down, dirty, generally felt worn down and unkept. It's been several years since I've eaten here, and the quality of the service and the food has deteriorated quite a lot in that time. The white sauce tastes like rancid vinegar & sugar, the generic prepacked french-fries were cold and the baked beans tastes like they were soaked in ketchup. Now to the service... what service!?! 4 wait staff members sat at a table eating, the owner sat at another table eating Reese's pieces (probably because their food is so bad) and we waited 20 minutes for my meal and my wife's hamburger (which was overcooked). Watched one waitress put deodorant on behind the cash register...we were done then! So, to surmise this experience...food was awful, the service was less than mediocre and the ambiance was pitiful. Came here with my family and enjoyed the friendly staff and the comfortable seating area. We got a little bit of everything and the ribs stood out as the top thing we ordered. The chicken was also good and the sides were all pretty tasty my only disappointment is that they did not have Mac and cheese. read more

What a welcome change. The service was above and beyond as soon as we walked in the door. Our drink order was taken immediately. A few minutes later the server came to us for our order. She took time to answer our questions and make suggestions. No pressure, no rush. The order came out promptly. The food was fresh. My wife got the seafood platter. It was perfectly cooked and was fresh and hot. There was no fishy taste to it. I got the half chicken. Very well flavored and full of smoked barbecue flavor. The sides were abundant and great. They kept our drinks full and all done with a smile and down home hospitality. A very welcome change from other so called barbecue restaurants (Johnny's Bbq.). Lunas puts them to shame. This has truly been my favorite place to eat eat while in Hanceville, Alabama. The family owned staff were super friendly and the food was inexpensive and delicious. The plate of ribs was $8.95, and so was the smoked chicken. In terms of the ribs, I was easily peeling the meat off of the bones with my fork. There was so much meat on the ribs that we had to take it home. The food and service was so good that my mother and I went there three different times. It would have been four times but they were closed on Sunday. read more

The pork sandwiches are good. I wouldn't order the fried onion rings, I'm pretty sure they come out of a bag and need a little more taste. I stopped by and picked up takeout for me and a co-worker today.. he got a large bbq sandwich (which he said was fine) and I got the 1/2 chicken plate with coleslaw and baked beans, the chicken was dry as a piece of cardboard, there were literally 2 teaspoons of baked beans and the "coleslaw" tasted like nothing more than a dry pile of chopped cabbage and carrots.. this is probably my 3rd time here and I'd have to say that it's consistently mediocre at best, the bbq pork has a decent taste but they skimp on the sauce like it's made of liquid gold. read more

The barbecue is good, but they have a tendency to overfry other stuff. We've gotten burnt oysters, among other things, on more than one occasion. The staff is nice, too, but sometimes when it's busy, you get forgotten. The meat was good . Beans soupy and running into other food. The only thing hot was the baked potato. Everything else was room temperature...even the toasted garlic bread. It is very dark and the blinds on the windows are all closed and look to have greasy fingerprints in them. There were numerous staff sitting around on their phones. Perhaps they should be cleaning. I have no problem with the BBQ and the service and I always support local home town restaurants and businesses whenever possible and I do really like Lunas and I like the fact that it is my town. my 2 biggest gripes are sometime the cleanliness of the place is not always the best as there are often dust bunnies on the floors, food, sticky tables and dust on the ceilings. when i was in there today, there was literally dust hanging from the ceiling right over my table and i was expecting it to drop on my food at any time. the other gripe is that they never open the blinds...the place always seems so dark, the blinds are always closed and the entryway is like going through a dark tunnel. from the outside, you can't tell if they are open or not. Always plenty of parking and convenient, but some landscaping/trees, bushes outside would really dress the place up and add to the charm of downtown. read more
