Luna Lounge at Bella Bru. Same menu with waiter service outdoors. Filthy, stained, sticky concrete, shabby seats and faded, dirty tables. Slap Dash service-had to ask for napkins, and silverware. Ketchup squeeze bottle had dark brown encrusted old ketchup on it. Off brand, watery with zero taste. Shocked at the environment, the sticky cement, the cobwebs--and the lack of cleanliness. So few decent outdoor places and this was a grade A Fail. Split a tuna melt sandwich and fries-greasy, floating in oil "toast": with a minimum of tuna and cheese. Fries were tasty but cold. If you live live or hang your hat in Carmichael, and you're looking for a quality (but not stuffy) place, there's no better place for food and drink than Luna. The food is almost always exemplary, atmosphere (including outside patio) is great, but the treasure here are the bartenders and servers). Been coming here for over ten years and they've always been friendly, accommodating, and it doesn't take long before the bartenders know your name and your drink. The good....Great food. Great staff. And Wed night is 1/2 price bottles of wine. Not so good...DOGS. Don't know why but they allow people to bring dogs to the tables. Not only small dogs but we had a large Husky at the table next to us on the patio. So we ignored it barking, we ignored it staring at us when our food came.. but when it shook (as dogs do) and fur flew all over our food I had to ask Why??? The staff was great at getting us a new table and new plates (a re-fire we learned)..but as long as they allow dogs I am not sure we will be back for food. Yum! Ate here yesterday evening. This is casual with great ambiance. The bar area is great and comfortable with TVs with sports on yet does not feel like a sports bar at all and its not. They have a great beer and wine selection along with cocktails. The food is fantastic and you can order off their Bella Bru Menu. I like the fact that it is connected to and part Bella Bru. The outdoor space is nice but ate inside to avoid the smell of cigarette smoke outside which might have only been one or two people. Do people still seriously smoke in this day and age? I've been visiting Luna Lounge for several years now, which always offers great food, tasty cocktails, and a mini-high school reunion for us Rio grads. The recent change of head chef has been an absolute upgrade in the quality of food. And if you still have room for dessert, the pastries and cakes are some of the best in town. As for the late-night bar scene, I've never had a negative experience in my countless visits. The crowd is usually pretty mellow and friendly. Of course, the highlight of Luna is everyone's favorite bartender, Eli. Despite his looks, Eli is actually a real pleasure to be around. It is more common than not for him to know a customer by their name, or at least their drink - and he's always quick to welcome new guests as they walk through the door. Disappointing -I was really hoping for a bit more service and care for the cost. I had a group of girlfriends who were going to Luna one night and I could not join them so I called in to order them a round of drinks on me. I realize this is a little out of the ordinary, but not out of the realm of reality. I ordered 3 drinks and for my friends and added a generous tip. I was VERY clear and they repeated my order back to me correctly. Once my friends got there the people at Luna lounge only brought them 2 drinks and because my friends were informed there would be three drinks they questioned it and the Bartender assured them I only ordered two drinks. I don't get out much at night, because I have two kids. I've been to this place a couple of times, though, and I like it! I really can't stand those clubs and bars where there is a $1 cocktails for an hour. You know the kind I mean? All the young kids with no money are rushing up to get those watered down drinks. Or the neighborhood bars that are a hole in the wall, with the old lady behind the bar that is super grouchy and slow. I read what people wrote about cougars here, but I don't see many cougars, unless I'm just too old to know. Oh no, maybe I'm a cougar! I just went to Luna Lounge for their wine pairing. This was the second one and they do these the 1st Monday of every month. Where do I even start! The food was unreal. I honestly didn't feel like I was in Sacramento. We had lamb, sushi, halibut, cheeses, strawberey pound cake, the list goes on....and there was a wine pairing with each dish! Holey Moley amazing. They have new head chef there and let me tell you if you haven't ate there you need to go NOW!!!!! I've also been there on just the regular nights as well and the servers and bartenders are great. Came here to watch the National Championship and grab a bite. Was able to land a good spot at the bar, but it obviously was busy and service was a little slow,(they should have staffed up) but the bartender was totally cool and made up for it. The food is presented nicely The salad. dressings are homemade and refreshing. The steak is very tasty. Some of my favorite breads are from Luna Lounge. .For. Quieter conversations, the elevated seating is nice and comfortable.The food is quite good. One disappointed walnut/a salad because of lack of date and wnuts were not candied. Huge disappointment! Food is excellent. I love having dinner and drinks in this place. It gets awfully crowded in here on Friday and Saturday nights. Drinks are great, strong and made correctly. The bartending is outstanding, conversation and service-wise. Eli, the bartender on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is a hit! You can't miss with this guy. If you don't have a good time with this guy, you shouldn't be out at a bar because you obviously suck. Higher end patrons make for a nice environment, a little on the douche side but still chill. I was attacked here by the female owner last month. The incident occurred at the night time services. After paying the bill, and waiting for my boyfriend to use the restroom I had accidentally crossed over into the wrong part of the bar. There was no signage to speak of indicating the event. The owner ran out screaming at me that it was a private party, and accused me of trying to steal food after we had just paid a $50 dinner bill, and we are regular customers, (usually spending about $150-200 a month here alone), and as I turned away to leave the event area, which was open and directly next to the bathroom waiting area, she retaliated at my unaffected response of "sorry," as she ran up to me and twisted my arm in several directions in an attempt to break it, resulting in bruising and scratches through 2 layers of wool coating and blouse. I notified the police and they sincerely attempted investigation, however, I was misinformed about security cameras or they were taken down following the incident. I cannot recommend this bar. However, we were friends of the bartenders who worked here. This establishment does not respect its customers nor the generous amounts of money my significant other and I spent there. I was told it was most likely age discrimination (absurd since I will soon be 30), although moving here from San Francisco and being of visibly ethnic heritage I can say it felt racially motivated. I would like to echo the reviewer, Analisa S. who is also from San Francisco who said do not even wear ("an expensive") coat and jeans because apparently that is like putting a target on your back. I am a modest working designer with a label-loving wardrobe and this is not necessarily where I'd like to embarrassingly want to put on a flashy dress on a cold night. The bar is literally in our backyard which is why we frequented prior to this unfortunate discovery. I should also add, this isn't the first incident of discrimination I've seen here either. I saw an African-American customer get kicked out after a white male tipped his drink only 2 weeks prior. Speak with your money. In result, I tried hard to stay calm, I had pulled her arm away from my body, and I lectured the owner that it is completely inappropriate what she did, while my boyfriend returned bewildered at what the heck just happened... but honestly this lady is not fit to run a business and I hope she never misses another dose of her crazy pills. Having class is having gratitude for the customers which provide for your livelihood. Attacking loyal customers is so out of line...shocking, disrespectful, and simply monstrous. Logically speaking my significant other and I were robbed of our money that night, and then some. Beyond offensive and all levels of shock. Would give 0 stars if allowed. As many awful experiences have been reported on Yelp, not many establishment owners can boast they've actually went full-on mongering psycho and --attacked-- good customers. Not too shabby for a sleepy suburb such as Carmichael. The food IS good here. The drinks are good too. Although, could use a change on the wine menu...it's been the same since I've been going there (3+ years). Bartenders are awesome. I think the best nights to go are Thursday and Friday. No live music, just a selection or playlist of the bartenders choosing - mostly 80s rock and variations. Starting at 9ish, you'll see one spectrum of the clientele, which is mostly from the neighborhood and the later & longer you stay, you'll see a completely different demographic. After having breakfast and lunch at Bella Bru for years and wondering about the Luna Lounge, I finally visited recently and found it to be a decent experience. A group of us rolled in for happy hour and stayed for trivia night. We had chicken wings, nachos and a plate of mussels, and had desserts later. Great happy hour! 2-6 everyday! My husband and I go here a couple times a week. We always start our evening out at Luna Lounge and then go from there. I also meet my girlfriends here a lot. The bartender, Eli, is great! He knows us by name and drink. The atmosphere is hip, dim, relaxed, and fun! Their food is decent. Can be overpriced, but usually good. Their pizzas are tasty. This is definitely an upscale hangout in Carmichael. I've been here on many occasions but never had a chance to sample their food, until Tuesday night. They have a great special that includes a large delicious gourmet pizza and a bottle of wine for $25! The pizza had a crispy thin crust with fresh mozzarella, bacon, caramelized onion and arugula. Amazing! This will definitely be a Tuesday ritual for me! The drinks are great and the wine list offers a great selection. There are also large TVs for viewing sporting events, good music and a wide selection of seating.
