Two pieces of bread were topped with the cheese and toppings, tasty but don't think I'll be ordering this again. Loved the beet salad except for the dressing which was a bit too tart for me. The chicken was interesting with the cucumber salad on top. The coldness of the salad combined with the warmth of the chicken was a bit odd. Beautiful presentation however, I will give them that. Finally the profiterole for dessert presented itself as more of a glorified cream puff rather than the profiteroles that I had in France - smaller puffs accompanied with ice cream. Perhaps my mistake was thinking this would be more traditional. Perhaps they were a bit short staffed this evening, but service was slower than I would have liked. It took quite a while to get someone to take our order and despite making the reservation stating that it was my birthday, nothing was done until this was brought to their attention. We were given two complimentary glasses of champagne however. Would totally return for the bar experience, but for dinner I would try somewhere else.

We ordered our food and it was delivered quickly, as one would assume since you're cooking it yourself. They did forget my shrimp but all good. The steak quality wasn't that great, 3 of the 4 steaks were tough and chewy. There is only one communal grill so keep an eye your food because someone tried taking my shrimp. It can also get full so you have sit around til you can find an empty spot on the grill for your food. Overall, I'd come back for happy hour cocktails but we'll skip the dinner service.

For the last several years we have enjoyed dinner at Luna Lounge about every three weeks. I would describe the menu as comfort food with a flair and often recommended the place to others. They now have a new Chef who as taken the menu in a different direction. This was our second visit since the change in kitchen leadership. The regular menu is now half the size with a handful of the old appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and pizzas. Gone are all the dInner entrees. There are now two special menus. One is their tapas which is so artfully worded that it required careful reading to even figure out what the items actually are. We were there for dinner so we quickly moved on to the other special menu and went to the entrees. Again we found significant changes in both the items and prices. The one beef item is a rib-eye steak priced at $40.00. Previously their steaks were just under $30. There were three seafood items one of which was octopus and a the last was a half of chicken. I opted for the chicken and the other two selected the halibut and scallops. The clear winner was the halibut served on what looked like a piece of thin black tile. The second was the two small scallops with a very nice presentation, however it really should have been three scallops to make it an entree. The half of chicken was served in a bowl with enough sauce to qualify it as floating in soup and turning the other items served with it into soggy mess. The other disappointment was how long it took to get our food. Yes it was a Friday night, but the restaurant and patio was no where even close to full. It was so hot outside that the patio was almost empty. In the past we would have to wait to get even two seats together at the bar or a table inside. Perhaps this might be a indication to the owner that the new chef's menu ideas are not popular with the regulars. I know that we are definitely in no hurry to return anytime soon. read more

i have been going to the luna lounge for almost eight years now and every time I travel through town I love to stop in for drinks. for my recent stop in being as I am from southern California, I did catch myself drinking to much to drive 4 hours home, instead I left the bar to be chased out to my car by the bartender, he had asked if I was driving home and I stated that I wasn't, I only pulled my car off the parking lot 40 feet so it would not be impounded for an abandoned vehicle. then took a cab to a hotel. the bad review is not for that day or experience, as in returning the next week for a business meeting I was going to ask for a glass of water and a menu when the bartender in front of 20 people at the bar berated me and said that I needed to go somewhere else when he did not even know what I did with my car or did that night... my car was parked in another business parking lot.. there for not his responsibility, I believe that it was unprofessional and rude to act like that when he could have said silently that he didn't wish to serve me alcohol. I have seen plenty of the customers there drink shots and mixed drinks for hours and pull right out of a parking spot and no one say nothing. I believe this particular bartender needs to tune up on his customer service skills.... read more

I used to love this place and hanging out and enjoying relaxing , trivia night, etc. Not sure what is going on but there is a NEW crowd here lately. First off there is a lady that comes.....regurlarly.....I chatted with her while at bar. Her name is Erica. She is a desperate and lonely gal and wastes no time telling anyone and everyone about her sad LONELY and SINGLE life as a teacher with a master's degree. Now she comes and brings her NEW puppy with hopes of picking up a man. This lady needs help. Then men who she hooked up with are all talking about how easy she is....and that Luna Lounge is Erica Lounge. What has happened to this place? And are dogs really allowed where food is served? ummmmmm..... Does health department know this is happening? Why is management allowing this? Wonder if I should let them know. Why has this place become a pick up joint? It never used to be like this before. So sad....a lot of us regulars are talking and we are not happy with the changes here....new people coming in and being allowed to change the atmosphere and make some women uncomfortable. It has been over 6 months since I moved into the area. My job takes me to many new and exciting cities and I have to admit that the Luna Lounge is an excellent restaurant for any occasion. I joined Table for Six Total Adventures and we had this event there. This restaurant made the event even better. Their menu was out of this world, many items to choose from. Signed up for yelp just so I could Jackson Pollock this place with loads of love. Solid happy hour, great service and sexy atmosphere. Not really sure if yelp has fully caught on yet in Sac but my guess is that it has not because otherwise Luna Lounge would have way more reviews. I know that the local elections were nearly a month ago but is it too late to nominate Eli to the Carmichael board of supervisors? Might be getting a bit ahead of myself but he pours a pretty amazing drink and would definitely have my vote. read more

The menu said lightly poached pears and grilled. And that promise delivered. The blue cheese mousse was like nothing I've ever had before and, believe me, I've had a lot! It was delectable ! When it came to the table, the mousse was melting perfectly. I don't know who they have back there, but I am impressed. Restaurant shares this space with a sushi restaurant literally right next to it. Staffs were very nice. Water tasted great. Our waitressc was professional and nice. Everyone was smiling and friendly. We got the combination dinner plate for $23. It was a great way to try 3 different things. This was good. The Ravioli was ok. Not too good. But the rest was great tasting. We got some skinny, warm bread sticks with butter. Bread was... meh. Could have been better. They have dessert at the counter you can buy. But we didn't get any. We wanted gelato next door for dessert. It was quiet. Ambiance was nice. Easy to hear each other. Mood light. Over all, this restaurant was nice. The foods were just ok. But love the friendly and nice staffs. Oh! I saw they charged an extra charge on my receipt. A "Non Cash Adjustment Fee" of $0.89. Don't know what that is. I know its only a little. But wasn't too thrill to see that. Wish they made it known there will be extra charges. That's all.

Elderflower martini was delicious. Coffee was good. (Decaf was not available!) Service was prompt and the waiter was very personable. Now the negatives: furniture was in poor repair;; kitchen was noisy due to the sounds of crashing plates; the veal was tough; the server didn't come around to refill our water; the pasta, although good, was served without a large spoon.; and of course, as mentioned by others, 4% was added onto the bill for payment by credit card.
