Don't believe the old reviews since this Skokie office has leveled up!…read moreI almost let the older Yelp reviews scare me away, but I'm so glad I didn't. My experience was the polar opposite of the negative posts. The office is incredibly organized. I noticed a large, coordinated team at the front desk where some may have been brought in from other locations to ensure everything runs smoothly. It's obvious they've stepped up their service and fixed most of the issue from the past. They have high end eye testing machines that test everything about your eye to assist in selecting a handful of lenses with the final pick by the doctor. Dr. Spektor has been absolutely terrific. There are many doctors in the office that do great work as well. One tip for future patients: come prepared! This office is thorough. You'll work with a specialist for upfront testing to provide the doctor with the best data possible. I think some past reviewers weren't prepared for that level of detail, but if you do your part and provide your background info, the care is top-notch. Come in with a handful of quality questions. Please note that you may need to wait since there are many people that do to the office. You will see the doctors are working hard and not just waiting around. I am highly satisfied with my results so far. If you want a professional, clean, and quality care, ignore the old noise and book an appointment here!

Dr. Tatyana Spektor was seen at the Skokie location for a full comprehensive eye check up and prescription. FYI it was NOT our first time seeing an Ophthalmologist ! The prescription and the results of the refractions were ALL incorrect and inaccurate. Speaking to the office they wanted us to come back and see another in their practice!--- No thank you! Went to another reputable Ophthalmology practice and confirmed Dr. Spektor's nonsense prescription as well as what we have as records from previous years! The supposed practice manager: Cynthia Stevens either is never available to speak and perpetually in a "meeting" or will not respond to call/emails/fax of documents! Will be requiring a refund of all fees paid to this subpar ophthalmology practice!

I was directed to them after my optometrist after finding a detached retina. Kovach (Lincolnwood) was able to see me the next day, and surgeon (Barrington) recommended surgery right away. The surgeons and surgery staff (Itasca) are very professional. The main issue is communications and SCHEDULING. They tend to way over-book (Wheaton) and on multiple times I am waiting in the lounge for over two hours. Surgery - 4 stars, surgery support staff - 5 stars, communications - 3 stars, & scheduling - 1 star.

And then I left several messages, and they NEVER returned my call. AND the doctor TRIED to urge me to buy the more expensive lenses, which I didn't want. ( I thought I would have o sit there to listen to a sales pitch for a Time Share in El Salvador) AND they told me that there's an additional charge from the Surgery Center, but said they didn't know about their charges, and I had to call them. Imagine, sending hundreds and hundred of patients to that center and hove NO IDEA what that costs?? DON'T GO TO THIS OFFICE.

This review is a long time coming...and maybe it is unfair to write it so many years after service…read morehas been performed, but I was cleaning out some files and came across my receipts for Lasik back in 2003. Yes it is over 13 years later, but I'm still going to hold a grudge. I'm not going to go into every precise detail, but the basics are this: I was told that my vision would be back to normal in only a few days after my Lasik surgery. I was unable to see my computer screen (which I could see perfectly prior to the surgery) for approximately 3 weeks after the surgery. This was a huge inconvenience as my job at the time depended upon being able to see a screen. Every time I went back for a checkup I complained about my vision and that it didn't seem that my eyes had been healing correctly. I was constantly put off each time being told to wait a little bit longer until my 3 month "warranty" was up. On my last visit, a "substitute" doctor was in and was supposed to relay my issues on to the actual doctor. This never happened and when I contacted them a few months later to complain about still residual issues, I was told that it was too late even though I had been telling them since day 1 that there were issues. I would say it took a good 4-6 months before my vision was back to an acceptable level. Even then I still had some strangeness like halos, etc. Eventually it got to a point where I just became accustomed to whatever my vision was. Admittedly, my vision after this period was probably better in some respects than before, but with the issues I experienced it was difficult to say I had any sort of night and day changes in my vision. It was more like a slow burn. At the time, these guys ran radio ads all the time offering discounted services. My personal belief is that they were not concerned about doing a great job, since they got to charge you $250 more/eye for any touch up work that needed to be completed after 3 months. So, it is within their best interest to do shoddy work so you have to pay. Unless they are guaranteeing your surgery for a period longer than 3 months - i.e. long enough to see you through a full recovery and deal with any issues, I would look elsewhere. Chances are if the price seems to good from these guys, there is a reason. There are some other sketchy things that happened with my whole experience with these folks, but if I haven't warned you enough from the above, I doubt the rest will.
