Modern, clean spot with friendly service and a ton of color options. My sister got her nails done -- cat's eye with a fill -- and hers actually turned out great. They told her she "needed" dip powder instead of gel because it's supposedly healthier, which... is questionable at best. Dip isn't magically vitamins for your nails, so take that sales pitch with a grain of salt. My experience? The techn8cuan cut my toenails down into little slits and then piled on the gel so thick it looked lumpy. Meh! Manicure was nice. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience. I showed a clear photo of the exact design I wanted--clean, sharp cherry-red tips with a smooth, even blend. What I received looks nothing like the picture. The lines are uneven, the red is blotchy, and the overall finish is messy. I even pointed this out during the appointment, and the nail tech told me "that's just how it is," which is unacceptable for professional work. I also want to mention that I live near Grass Valley and drove an 35 minutes each way for this appointment, that is a total of over an hour. This was absolutely not worth the $75 I paid. I wasn't offered a refund--only an offer to remove the nails, which doesn't fix the time, money, or effort I spent trying to get the design I asked for. I'm sharing this feedback because I was very specific about what I wanted, provided a clear picture, and still left with nails that look nothing like what I requested. I was asked to send a text to the phone number provided and the manager will get back to me and it's been seven days and silent. I will not be returning or referring business. I don't normally leave bad reviews but I felt this was important to share with others who may want to try this business. I first had my nails done here when they had just opened and I had zero complaints so when I needed a quick pedicure and was in the area I figured I'd stop by. Upon entry the inside of the spa was extremely humid, all the windows were fogged up and it was very uncomfortable. We were sat quickly but I noticed immediately how dirty everything was. The floors were filthy and some of the chairs looked like they had never been cleaned. To top it all off what freaked me out the most was my mom and I found MULTIPLE ants crawling on us during the pedicure. I definitely will not be returning as I was so uncomfortable the entire time. Paid for an hour head spa service and added on a head and neck massage. The lady forgot to apply the face mask included with my service so she said she would give me an extra five minute massage instead. I didn't agree to this and asked them to remove the face mask service to my fee. They didn't remove it even though they said they would. The add on massage was mostly pleasant until she smacked me on the forehead a couple times at the end. In retrospect I should've started with a shorter head spa service because it just felt too long to sit there and get my hair washed. Didn't know what to expect since this was my first experience. I came here because my regular nail lady transferred here from Cosmos in Roseville. She had been splitting her time between the two before she permanently transitioned. I thought they had the same owners so I found it odd that when I called Cosmos, they didn't tell me where she went, just that she no longer worked there. It turns out that Lumi is owned with additional partners so that is why they didn't care to share which is terrible! Anyway, I love my girl. Been going to her for a few years now. The prices seem a little better than Cosmos like what it was before the last price hike but its not cheap. However, the place is clean and spacious and I believe you get good quality products. i've been here a number of times for manicures and pedicures and never have any issues. always clean. they are friendly and communicate very well in terms of customizing your needs. we went to try their head spa one time and i was very underwhelmed with the experience. i had different expectations in mind. my lady kept adding things on that were considered extra charge but failed to tell me they were extra charges until i got to pay at the end. when i mentioned that i didn't know certain things were extra, they were kind enough to considered it a "trial" and removed it from my charges. but all this to say, it wasn't an relaxing as i wanted it to be. 3.5 read more

I usually have positive experiences at Lumi, which is why today's encounter was particularly disappointing. Tammy's behavior was unprofessional and rude. When I was unable to hold my hand in a certain position due to a medical issue--which I should not have been required to explain--she responded with repeated sighs and eye rolls, making it clear she was frustrated. Instead of showing understanding or discretion, Tammy made a scene about it in front of other customers, which was both embarrassing and unacceptable. I had never heard of a Japanese Head Spa until I read a review on Instagram by @Barbthebeautyconcierge. I was truly intrigued. If you look in the Sacramento area you don't really find any Japanese Head Spa's, but my understanding is it's taken off through the internet. So I made an appointment for the 75 min Ultimate Care Package. The spa is located in the same parking lot as the Bass Pro Shop in Rocklin off the 80 freeway. When you enter it looks like a nail salon, which it is, with all sorts of nail services offered including Japanese Nail Art. The back of the salon has the Head Spa with several spa table set ups each behind its own curtain for privacy. It is dark, cool and inviting. You are given a robe to pull on as she needs access to your neck and shoulders. You then lay down on a special spa bed wrapped in warm blankets. There is a sink at the end of the table which she works from. Obviously I couldn't see all that was taking place but here is what I surmised. She started with a dry hair head massage, then wet my hair and started massaging with different treatments each time rinsing in between. Some type of mask went on then she cleaned my face and started a facial massage, This I wasn't expecting. Again different products, cleaning, massaging, etc. Some of those products sat on the skin and next was shoulder and neck massages. It was unbelievable. Towards the end another type of treatment was put on and a warm wrap enclosed your scalp. This was heated. A face sheet mask was then applied followed by arm and hand massages. I wish I had more information to share but I couldn't see exactly what was going on. At the end the face mask was removed, and face cleaned and moisturized . The heated hair wrap removed and the hair had a final wash. Then my hair was wrapped in a warm towel and I was asked to sit up. This was followed by a back massage! You are then shown to a room where you can blow dry your hair with most of the necessary products you might use. There is no round brush or curling irons, etc, so you may want to take your own. For $110 I truly felt pampered. It was a very unique experience and I am looking forward to going again. Next time I will book a head spa treatment followed by dip nails. Their pricing was very good. The salon is clean, cheerful and about one year old. The Head Spa is the best of a hair salon, a massage, and a facial studio wrapped in one. Give this place a try before it gets too hard to book an appointment. read more

Definitely plan on going at least once every month or two. My hair felt clean, the arm/chest massage was 11/10, and the products used smelled amazing. I have been going to Lumi for months now and will continue coming back as long as Trudy is there! At first my experience was "so-so". I tried gel extensions and they lifted within a week. The next time I was sat with Trudy, and she explained the difference between gel and dip powder. We decided dip powder was likely better for my dry nail beds. She is more than just a nail tech - she is so knowledgeable and skilled. I have never received the level of care and guidance in my nail journey like that of which I've experienced with Trudy. While I think there is a lot going for this salon, my 3 star rating comes down to the quality of my final manicure and pedicure. Let me start with the POSITIVES: First, booking and checking in to my appointment was quick and I felt the person at the front desk was friendly and approachable. Also, my first impression of the salon was that it felt really clean and was nice and large so they could get people in and out efficiently. Next, The 2 women doing my nails were both very kind and funny. They were showering me in compliments which made me feel really special. Lastly, from start to finish my gel manicure and pedicure combined took one hour almost to the minute. I appreciate a fast service, as I don't like spending a huge portion of my day in a salon. However, in hindsight, maybe this is why my manicure did not turn out very nicely. Now for the NEGATIVES: I felt my pedicure was done very well and I'm happy with that, but my manicure was pretty awful. I was so embarrassed to have my hands shown, and it was my birthday weekend. I think maybe they focus more attention and skill on customers who are getting fun design or more complex requests, but paying $100 for a gel mani and pedi to come out looking like this was pretty disappointing. I got a gift card to this new spot for Christmas and I'm definitely making this my new favorite nail salon because of how amazing my experience here was. Firstly, when you walk in this place is like a serene spa. It smells amazing and is SO clean. Everyone is SO SWEET and friendly! That makes a world of difference to me. I got a dip manicure and the tech was so careful and meticulous with each detail. They have two huge walls of polish, gel and dip colors. The pedicure area looks so relaxing and heavenly. They also do Japanese head spa treatments which sound amazing. They don't do acrylics here due to the toxic fumes so everything smells so clean and pure. They do do dip, gel, and hybrid in addition to regular polish and nail services. I highly recommend this spa salon and will definitely be making the drive from sacramento to return. read more

I have been coming to Lumi Spa since they opened early last year. This is 1 of two locations by the owners, and it is undoubtedly the better of the two. The aesthetic is beautiful and clean inside. You can tell that the staff is well trained and takes pride in the work that they put out into the world. Oh, did I mention it is clean? The vibe here is VERY calm, and when you come in, you are greeted by a wall of products and a receptionist. The layout of this location gives precisely what it needs for those moments when you are just trying to relax and have a day full of self-care. Lumi appears to use some of the best products on the market, and one of the reasons that I love them so much is that they use NO UV light when getting dip nails, which has been very difficult to find otherwise. If you are in the area, certainly check it out. My recommendations are a mani/pedi situation, but also make sure that you are asking for Sokha or Trudy; they are my personal favorite specialists. read more

0 STARS... For a newer nail salon and head spa that claims to be luxurious, I found it unprofessional and dirty. The tools they used were dirty, and some of the nail technicians were rude and not skilled. I had just had my nails done by an excellent Russian nail technician, and I only needed a simple design on my nails. However, the technician at Lumi was impatient and used a large brush, despite my request for a smaller brush and proper curing in between layers. When I asked her to redo the nail, she refused, saying it was too difficult and she gave up. Eventually, she agreed to listen to me and use a smaller brush and cure it properly, which worked out well. They charged me $90 for the design, even though my nails were already done. I won't be returning to this salon, as it was a waste of time and money. read more
