What I wanted and the outcome of what I got.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience. I showed a clear photo of the exact design I wanted--clean, sharp cherry-red tips with a smooth, even blend. What I received looks nothing like the picture. The lines are uneven, the red is blotchy, and the overall finish is messy. I even pointed this out during the appointment, and the nail tech told me "that's just how it is," which is unacceptable for professional work. I also want to mention that I live near Grass Valley and drove an 35 minutes each way for this appointment, that is a total of over an hour. This was absolutely not worth the $75 I paid. I wasn't offered a refund--only an offer to remove the nails, which doesn't fix the time, money, or effort I spent trying to get the design I asked for. I'm sharing this feedback because I was very specific about what I wanted, provided a clear picture, and still left with nails that look nothing like what I requested. I was asked to send a text to the phone number provided and the manager will get back to me and it's been seven days and silent. I will not be returning or referring business. This was not worth my time and money.

I came here because my regular nail lady transferred here from Cosmos in Roseville. She had been splitting her time between the two before she permanently transitioned. I thought they had the same owners so I found it odd that when I called Cosmos, they didn't tell me where she went, just that she no longer worked there. It turns out that Lumi is owned with additional partners so that is why they didn't care to share which is terrible! Anyway, I love my girl. Been going to her for a few years now. The prices seem a little better than Cosmos like what it was before the last price hike but its not cheap. However, the place is clean and spacious and I believe you get good quality products. This is a great place for a girls day or party. It is also quiet. No cross talk in Vietnamese with co-workers which I always hated at nail salons. They focus on you.

I love Lumi Spa normally, but this time I had my nails done dip with ombre nails, and 2 nails broke within a week, Dip usually lasts 3+ weeks for me. I spent a good amount getting my nails done and expected better results. :(

I had never heard of a Japanese Head Spa until I read a review on Instagram by @Barbthebeautyconcierge. I was truly intrigued. If you look in the Sacramento area you don't really find any Japanese Head Spa's, but my understanding is it's taken off through the internet. So I made an appointment for the 75 min Ultimate Care Package. The spa is located in the same parking lot as the Bass Pro Shop in Rocklin off the 80 freeway. When you enter it looks like a nail salon, which it is, with all sorts of nail services offered including Japanese Nail Art. The back of the salon has the Head Spa with several spa table set ups each behind its own curtain for privacy. It is dark, cool and inviting. You are given a robe to pull on as she needs access to your neck and shoulders. You then lay down on a special spa bed wrapped in warm blankets. There is a sink at the end of the table which she works from. Obviously I couldn't see all that was taking place but here is what I surmised. She started with a dry hair head massage, then wet my hair and started massaging with different treatments each time rinsing in between. Some type of mask went on then she cleaned my face and started a facial massage, This I wasn't expecting. Again different products, cleaning, massaging, etc. Some of those products sat on the skin and next was shoulder and neck massages. It was unbelievable. Towards the end another type of treatment was put on and a warm wrap enclosed your scalp. This was heated. A face sheet mask was then applied followed by arm and hand massages. I wish I had more information to share but I couldn't see exactly what was going on. At the end the face mask was removed, and face cleaned and moisturized . The heated hair wrap removed and the hair had a final wash. Then my hair was wrapped in a warm towel and I was asked to sit up. This was followed by a back massage! You are then shown to a room where you can blow dry your hair with most of the necessary products you might use. There is no round brush or curling irons, etc, so you may want to take your own. For $110 I truly felt pampered. It was a very unique experience and I am looking forward to going again. Next time I will book a head spa treatment followed by dip nails. Their pricing was very good. The salon is clean, cheerful and about one year old. The Head Spa is the best of a hair salon, a massage, and a facial studio wrapped in one. Give this place a try before it gets too hard to book an appointment.

I was so excited to hear that a spa in Rocklin offered Japanese head spas so my boyfriend and I went to try it out.

A follow-up to my previous impressive gushing review as I really want to love this place…read more The amount of time we spent there: B+/- for two of us, mani and pedi for each of us, and only Sandy working, AND going out of her way to take us on New Years day, I can't be too upset for it taking over 6 hours. The price: C- Pretty steep IMO. With tip, I paid $295. This was a discounted rate for a New Year special and it included a $20 cert for each of us on our next return. Comfort: A / A-. The place is beautiful. I love the pink tree and flower wall and decor. The place was pleasant smelling - not like nail polish as I expected. Though I was ready to go home and my foot water got cold before she got to my pedi. The foot massage was very nice. Company: A+ Sandy is very nice and personable and no communication issues. Very much enjoyed her company. Quality of work: A and F. The A part: My niece got pretty long tips and a nice pedi. They were all still intact 5 days later when she left to go home. The F part: My toes (some new tiger eye gel stuff) snagged all night on my sheets. Got up early to notice one of my toenails either started to cut too short or broke part-way with polish over it. No big deal, finished cutting it and filed it down. Two toenails were just snagging where they were cut but not filed. One other toenail, the gel just fell off somewhere. I know it was there - I watched her put it on, but by morning, it was gone. The next day, just half of another toenail came off leaving a shrarp ridgid line between polish and no polish. One foot got 3 coats of gel while the other only got 2. I didn't say anything as she had already started moving to the topcoat and it is still winter so nobody will see it. The worst part: My fingernails - to be fair, they were pretty jacked up to start with as I normally wear dip and long past their expiration. I ended up with new dip with gel on top and short and stubby uneven nails. I did ask to keep as much of the length as possible, but I only got that on one nail. The 2nd day into it, one nail chipped. Day 3, the whole nail - dip and gel polish disappeared while I was making a large dinner for in-town family and friends. I had to throw out the ENTIRE thing to save major embarrassment of not knowing where this fingernail had gone. Humiliating to throw away dinner when everyone is hungry. Another $500 to take everyone out because of a failed nail job. By day 7 - Just a week into it, I was down 4 fingernails and 2 1/2 toenails. I was able to swing into Creative Nails to get the rest of the gel off my 6 remaining fingernails on Saturday the 11th. Sandy wasn't there. 2 other men were and I asked for help to get them off. One of them pulled the container of nail tips and used one to pop the rest of them off. I asked if he had acetone or something else. 'He said this is healthier.' and proceeded to pop them off. Pretty uncomfortable and there isn't much of my natural nailbed left. Hell, I could have done that myself and possibly salvaged a bit of my own nails that are now super thin, flimsy, peeling, rough and breaking. After he told me I owed him $10., I wasn't about to show him my feet. I was pretty upset he even asking me to pay (and I told him they were just done), I forgot to use my $20 coupon. UGH. Sorry Sandy, I thought I found a gem, but I won't be back.

When we arrived there was only one employee available. 40 minutes later a couple other employees arrived. (Mind you this is 40 minutes after my appointment time) No one even asked if I was waiting for a service. They then tried upselling my daughter and another customer to get pedicures. So one started a pedicure and the other disappeared in the back. By that point I was so annoyed I never even asked to get my full set. I'll keep my money, thanks. Very disappointed that I had two appointments booked and no one there to do my nails. Thank goodness I let my daughter sit down first since it was her special day. He did an amazing job on her nails. Shape and color are great. But it took over two hours, which is longer than I expected. Quality is good. The space is nice. But customer service is lacking. Really disappointing experience. Why even have customers make appointments if you aren't going to staff for them.
