Came here for double date night at the end of August. Everything went well from entry to actually throwing the axes. Issues were in the food ordering and service. It wasn't that busy when we were there. The food took a bit longer than usual and it was not great. I asked the ladies if there was missing items or an issue in the kitchen. One of them said they would address the kitchen and told me that they are new & learning. At check out the lady at the counter asked if we wanted to tip. We were confused as we had already tipped at closing out the bar tab. I asked who was this tip intended for and she replied that they share tips but it was meant for the host who walked us in & explained how to throw (she was also supposed to be our server, but she never came back to check on us). I politely said no as she did not serve nor check in on us throughout the night. Wierd system for double tipping, jot a fan. It was fun, just not great service. read more

Walked in on a Saturday night around 8pm and they were almost wide open, only two other couples using the other lanes. They checked us in quickly and gave us a mini tutorial since it was our first time throwing axes. The place is clean and with lots of seating. The bar is also pretty long, though the bar drink menu is a little short. Classic cocktails and some draft beers. We each got an ax so it was nice not having to share one. Some of the wood panels were a little worn so it was harder to get the ax to stick so we ended up swapping lanes but otherwise it was a lot of fun. They give you a sheet with different types of games and we loved the tic tac toe one. If definitely got tiring after an hour but I couldve enjoyed a second session. I've been to quite a few axe throwing establishments, so needless to say I was incredibly excited to come throw here, considering I live out of state. Pros: Insanely spacious, lots of bays available. No reservation needed and staff were friendly. Cons: not only were the axes insanely dull (as you can see pictured,) the boards were so eaten away that even if the axe was sharp, it would be hard to get it to stick. Even the staff took a few tries to get it to stick to the board. They tried watering the boards and it didn't help at all. Id say out of 50 throws, maybe 10 actually stuck. (Picture of the board also attached). The bounce in their mats were insanely dangerous. I'd say 85% of the time the axe came right back to our feet onto the tile. There was no interaction from the staff at all once we started. No games to play, no points explanation, nothing to keep score with. The whole point of axe throwing, similar to darts, is to keep score. Most places have a white board of some sort. In the bay next to us, someone threw an axe at the board and the entire board fell. Overall, I'd never come back to this location. Its certainly not worth the money. You do more bending down to pick your axe up off the ground than anything else. I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say the owners most likely don't have a passion for axe throwing and simply opened up the establishment because it was trendy and would make them money. It's possible that I came on a bad day, but I don't even live in the area to go back a second time. read more

We called today (December 13th) to let them know that we would be a group of 7 instead but they let us know they had no reservations, they canceled all reservations for this date because of a CORPORATE BUY OUT. Booked a girls outing to celebrate a birthday on a weekend and we had a blast! Online reservations were easy and all the details were provided so there were no surprises once we arrived. Check in was quick & easy. We were offered not only a safety orientation, but also tips on getting our hatchets to land on the targets (vs over/under throwing and they don't hit right and bounce). We had planned a dinner afterwards so we didn't eat there but had drinks which the bar quickly sent over. Our crowd was on the lighter side so I don't know how things flow during busier times but we had fun and want to go back. read more

We have been to LumberjAxes so many times, so I had to give a review. It's so fun!! Make sure you wear close-toed shoes, as well. They are located in westgate, it's upstairs- close to where Fat Tuesdays is and the Desert Diamond arena. When you get there, make sure you arrive early to give time to the practice, bc once the clock starts you're on the clock. The attendant will go over safety and allow you to practice. There's diff kinds of games you can play and you could be there all day really with all the diff options. They have a great bar with tons of options and offer food as well. Price wise, not the cheapest, but worth it to splurge on a fun date night or experience. I've celebrated one of my bdays here too. Go check them out! Went here for my daughter's birthday! Who knew I birthed little Lizzie Borden! She was on fire getting bullseye after bullseye. You make a reservation online which can get confusing when entering the amount of people in your group. It is 44.00 per person and you have to pay a reservation fee to set. Apparently I had only paid for 4 people not 5. Anyways we had an excellent time. It was warm inside but outside was 114. We did have a wall of windows behind us. The staff was good the boards might need a little attention there were several loose ones and giant chunks coming out. I don't think that is supposed to happen. All in all we had fun and that's what counts. Parking can get crazy especially in west gate. They charge you either in an app or by vendor. read more

My second being here and I always have a great time here! However, it is more on the pricey side. We got our section right away since reservations are highly recommended. Brutally honest. Had a great time, but the prices are way too high and the axes need more maintenance. Never thought we would actually have to reflect on the waiver we signed because an axe handle had a metal bur on it. Throwing the axe it sliced one of my party members hands, when we brought it up to the counter, they tried to help with some band-aides, but were very nonchalant about the injury. Truly makes me reconsider going to this location again. Also, paying a deposit... on your email receipt will say 4 people, but it's actually the price for 2 people. The whole paying per person and not just for a booth based on hours is a total scam. Now that I've written this far, find a cheaper place, you'll have just as much fun and not feel like you've been taken advantage of. read more

The last star is missing do to the prices. The staff was beyond helpful and very patient while teaching everyone the process. Crazy to think that there is a bar ready to serve while throwing Axes. Lumberjacks are pretty badass, can't imagine how they did it with much larger axes. The drinks were nice and the space was clean and well maintained. Plenty of room to move around. Super fun and you actually get a little bit of a workout. Once you get the hang of it becomes even more fun. I recommend it if your looking for something different to do with friends or a date. If you want to have fun at a place doing something new, I definitely recommend axe throwing. It's one of those activities that you could probably spend hours doing and easily lost track of time. Our instructor was awesome and the food and drinks were on point....so try it out. If you don't have fun here, get a therapist. We had our daughter's 40th celebration at Lumberjacks. Mostly close family and friends and they all loved it. They felt it was very intimate there. Not real chaotic. Those that did the axe throwing loved it. The food was good, except they were out of Caesar dressing for the Caesar salad and the Nachos were good, but cold when they came out. Our supervisor took us here for a team building event and it was so much fun. I didn't think throwing an axe at a wall would be very fun but it weirdly is. What you do here is pretty self explanatory. There are targets on the wall and you compete with your friends for the highest score. Had a fun time with my family, as we try to see each glass half full. It was our first time into Lumberjacks. so my expectations was a bit to high 'I guess'. Our instructor was ever so quick to demonstrate the rules and how to throw the axe do's and don'ts etc., however she had a great axe that looked so cool with a complete handle. We where excited to get ours. As ironic as it may sound, I have to give it 3 Stars because I believe the equipment should be of outstanding quality for the price we pay and waiver we sign. With that, I will mention that an axe with a piece of handle missing wrapped in black electrical tape, will not be scoring 5 stars. Leaving the Lumberjacks with a blister and sticky black goo all over my palms was not so fun. Maybe it'll be better next time I guess. read more

What to do when you have no idea what to do- Go throw and axe! Didn't know what to expect from this experience and I'm glad we took a chance. Stopped in on a Friday night around 9pm waited about an hour and I wasn't even mad about it- we sat down for some bar food and a couple of drinks. Once a throwing section was ready, we walked over to meet with one of their throwing coaches. He took about 5-10 minutes walking us through the rules and step by step on throwing- guy was really cool and patient, giving me helpful tips, as it took me a few tries to get the axe to stick. Fun Times Throwing axes has become the new thing lately, so we had to check it out. You pay upfront for an hour and can add more time if needed. It sounds easier than it is. After a while your arms and shoulders get tired and sore, so an hour was enough time for us. We had little boys with us, so I would say it is safe and fun for kids too, but they also serve alcohol for adults so we can have fun. They actually called it "Alcohol and Axes". First time ever ax throwing and I have to admit we are hooked! The reason for the 3 stars is because of the customer service but if it was based solely off the game if would absolutely be a 5. The place is really well designed and a fun environment with music and a large bar. Everything looks clean and well taken care of. When we first stopped in to find out if we needed a reservation, the employee was friendly and helpful and told us we did not need to reserve a bay and we could come back in whenever ready and get a bay with little wait. He said they charge per hour and we just pay for after if we did end up adding more time. We left for a quick bite and came back about an hour later. When we came back there was all new faces and it was definitely a less friendly greeting. We told them we had already talked with an employee and they were aware we'd be returning, and also that we had already filled out our waiver online. Something to note that we thought was weird, they have you pay for the 1st hour before playing but they ask if you want to tip the person who explains the rules. I asked them how do we know how much to tip them if we don't know what they do or if they're good. They said well you have so and so and she's good. Lol weird. I still tipped 20% in hopes it would be appropriate. We were put in a bay right away and an employee spent about 3-4 min showing 2 different holds on the ax and watched us throw twice and that was the last time we saw her. We grabbed a drink from their bar, VERY tasty lumberitas, and went back to the bay to play. We had SO much fun! There's several different types of games you can play: first to 21, a version of horse, black out, tic tac toe, etc. We had been playing about 45 min when the same employee who checked us in came and told us our time was up. We told her we wanted to play another hour and she said we couldn't because people were waiting. We tried to explain to her what the 1st employee told us but she just said oh, well people weren't waiting and now they are so you can't add time. Had we known that was what could happen we would have prepaid for 2 hours just in case we liked it. We took our drinks and sat at an open table to finish them since we had just bought another round thinking we would be there for awhile longer. We were sitting there for about 5 min when the same employee came and told us we needed to move to a different table. We had NO idea why because there was no one waiting to sit there and the table didn't say it was reserved for a bay. The employee didn't explain anything to us either. We were so frustrated at that point that we left without finishing our not cheap drinks. It's really unfortunate that the service was poor because we really did enjoy the place itself. It was our first night out without kids in months and our fun was cut short because they did not explain to us that we would bumped from our spot. We will be checking out some other ax throwing places but I could still recommend this place based on the place and not the people. read more

I was there for a corporate event my company booked and was with a large group. The instructors were very knowledgeable and great coaches for recommending how to throw, where to stand, etc. They had a bar there. No food as I could see but we had already had lunch somewhere else. No wait staff f.y.i. so I think you have to go up to the bar to order drinks. I was disappointed that we only got to throw hatchets as I heard there were other things we could throw. The only caveat about this place is that it was too damn hot. Please turn up the air conditioning. Throwing is a workout! Great place to go for dates and with a group. I saw lots of couples there. It was hard to find at Westgate as it is tucked in a corner on the upper level. It can be seen probably from Gila River arena which is directly across. I came in the opposite end near AMC/ Dave and Busters. read more
