I've been to one of these in Redding and it was pretty good. I was on my way to Burger King when I found this place. A much better choice.

After spending over $70 we were very unsatisfied. This was my first time visiting and I will say there were many problems: Bacon was under cooked. Many items were forgotten. There are a lot of things I really like about Lumberjacks and a few I don't. I love the look of it and the decor. It's kitschy and cheesy but I like it. The staff us suuuuuper friendly. I love the lumberjack games they have on the TVs. They are awesome. The food is....average. totally hit or miss. Not gross but some things I have ordered have been pretty bland. This place is astonishingly awful. Measly amount of food even though they advertise being able to eat like a lumberjack. If real lumberjacks came in here to eat, they'd chop this place to the ground. Anyway, the biscuit is microwaved and tastes old. The potatoes on my skillet were mildly warm, only from the eggs above them. Topped with a scoop of cold cheese, brown guacamole, and sour (yes, SOUR) cream. I think I might be a bit harsh but I knew I'd be better off going to a smaller local place. The waitress checked on how we liked our food and when we told her the food was not hot, she shrugged and walked away. They did take some off the bill but didn't offer to redo our cold food. Passing through we stopped to have breakfast. We usually like Lumberjack's for breakfast but won't be stopping here again. Our waitress was very friendly and our food came out quickly. The food itself was not good. The country potatoes were not cooked all the way and had no flavor. My omelette was greasy and the flavor was not good. The ham in the omelette was chopped up into very tiny pieces and tasted nothing like ham. Cheese on top wasn't even melted. It was cold. The only thing decent tasting out of mine and my husband's order was the English muffin. I only gave it a two star because the waitress was very nice. I can only assume that the bad reviews for this place are by competitors or people who just hate everything. Personally, I loved this place. So did the three people I ate with. For starters, the service is some of the friendliest and most attentive service I have had in a restaurant. When we walked in the girl at the front asked with a genuine smile, "Hey there, how many today?" We responded '4' and she said 'perfect'! We were quickly seated. Even though the four of us took turns getting up to use the restroom (we were traveling), our server did not hesitate to get each of us a drink as she was able to catch us at the table. Once we were all seated she nearby and ready for our order. Throughout the meal we had several people making sure our meal was perfect. The manager walked around checking on tables, another server walked around filling coffee and water cups. Our server checked on us an appropriate amount (not so much that we were annoyed, not so little that we were left wanting). The food! The food really surprised us. On our trip we had eaten at several diners/restaurants for breakfast. This was the first one where we not only enjoyed our food, but it tasted fresh and well prepared FOR EVERYONE IN OUR GROUP. The presentation of the food suggested that those preparing it actually care about the customer. The taste suggests they know what they are doing in the kitchen. I ordered over-medium eggs and wouldn't you know it... they were actually over-medium. I ordered a Big Jack Skillet, a friend ordered the Big Jack Omelet, another the Tostada Beef Omelet with a side of French Toast. The fourth just ordered eggs and ate my toast. Our meals were all about $12 including coffee. Very reasonable. The food arrived quickly and we dove in. The portions are large but that just goes with their slogan of "Where the big boys eat". Everything was scrumptious. Our server was fairly new to the restaurant. I was the only one that noticed because I have worked in many similar restaurants. My friends argued that she wasn't new. I won that bet. She still did a fantastic job. I just could tell by her voice and the way she interacted with us that she was a newbie. I think that says something for a restaurant. Even their newest employees are so well trained that most can't tell they are new. Delicious food, clean establishment, friendly service and an overall feeling of being welcomed... even if you are an out-of-towner. I wish I lived in NorCal so I could enjoy the food here more often. We went on a Sunday but arrived before the "church crowd" so the restaurant was full but we didn't have to wait in line. When we left there was a line of about 6 groups waiting. Bad food and worse service! We stopped on a whim, on the way to see the redwoods. They were the most prominent , mainstream looking restaurant in town so we gave it a shot. First, the service sucked. Our server was totally unprofessional, taking our order with her hands in her pockets...with a rude biker chick kind of communication style. Everything she did was SLOW as a snail and incomplete, forgetting things we asked for. The coffee was burned to hell even though she said she "thought" it was fresh. Petty good, decent salad bar, fairly generous sized meal portions ok service not to crowded at the time of this review (before 4pm) I have been here a few times, and have had their steak a couple times, and a sandwich once. Their prime rib is average, and their NY steak is pretty good. Salad bar is freshly stocked, and they keep it pretty well maintained. The mini loaf of bread that comes with the steaks are cute and was a little on the sweet side for my tastes, if you like that type of bread then that is probably ok. I got the roast beef au jus sandwich there once, and it wasn't bad, but the bread it was on was a bit dry I think. Service is above average, and food is a bit pricey, but expect to pay above average prices for what they serve, steaks tend to be expensive anyways, no matter where you go. two tv's on opposite sides of the restaurant interior, tuned to only one channel, the lumberjack channel which apparently seems to be on a loop, or repeat setting. I drove through and ate there 2 times in one month a couple of weeks apart and the same show or episode of lumberjacks was shown each time in the same month, so that's how I know. Overall, its a decent place to sit down and eat, esp when traveling long distance, ie Eureka to bay area and back. read more

My family and I always come here on our back from visiting family. I dont remember our servers name but that's because she was non existent. Came to the table 2 times that was it. Never asked how we were doing and made a mistake on our bill, the manager was awsume and fixed the ticket. But I give a F on service. read more

My family ate here 11/17/14, for breakfast, and got severe food poisoning that is lasting three days so far. The place was clean, but average service, and terrible food. We talked to some locals after we ate there and they mentioned that they got food poisoning the week before. My sister, brother in law, niece, husband and I were all affected by it. Driving down back to Southern California from Northern California, we decided to stop here to eat. The exterior of the place caught our eyes immediately. I did not know this brand had other locations when going in, it looked unique enough to be its own thing. Our server Miles was attentive. He was awesome. Made us feel very welcomed. The food was good for the price we paid. My friend and I bought the pound burger they offer. I do not recommend finishing it in one sitting. Way better than the current (2.5 stars) Yelp reviews indicate. We showed up on the Monday of Memorial Day weekend with a group of 10 people. Place was mainly empty at 4 PM in the afternoon (not a prime hour) and they gave us Grade A service, giant portions, and were just wonderful to deal with. The patty melt was great; the onion rings were great; the milk shakes were great. Basically, order the things you'd expect to love at a diner, and then you'll be fine. It's a huge place, and a good place to stop if you're on a road trip, coming back from camping, or just generally driving through the area. The Lumberjack competitions on TV on loop are a fun touch. read more

The hotel we stayed at recommended Lumberjack's and even sent us over with a couple of $5 off coupons. Unfortuantely they were only good M-F on purchases over $25. That's ok because I enjoyed the good-quality chicken fried steak, crispy hash browns, and the eggs sunnyside up were done nicely. A fairly standard hearty meal to start the day. This place was a touch odd, if you ask me. It's a chain place... trying to fit into the Redwoods. It had this weird vibe of Applebee's meets a legit mom & pop spot--unfortunately the food erred more to the side of Applebee's. It looked like it had been recently kind of half-assed renovated. The food was ok--edible, but definitely not awesome. If I find myself back in Willits, I'll find a different establishment to eat at. Something more *actually* local, rather than just trying to seem local. Service was also just ok. Not bad--nothing to write home about. I had to laugh at the review saying lumberjacks is just a Dennys with a fancy statue out front cause it's kinda true, but theres more to it than that. There are about 12 of these in northern CA and this one in Willits shows what id call pride of ownership. The menu is extensive and the breakfast food was good-cinnabon toast, eggs, sausage, hash browns, pancakes-all cooked correctly and to order. The waitress Chrissy wasnt a how yall doin type but was courteous professional and attentive. The reviews are all over the place, but today, Lumberjacks was good, clean, tasty and interesting--I never thought I'd welcome the presence of a Lumberjack with me in my bathroom stall, but hey theres a first time for everything. read more

Probably the best chicken fried steak I've had in a while, along with quick service by good people.

My food was amazing in quantity and also pretty good in quality. My eyes nearly popped out at the sight of a plate stacked high with a small loaf of fresh bread, baked potato and serving of Tri-Tip and sauce. I'd already traipsed over to the salad bar for a single serving of lettuce, bacon, cherry tomatoes, olives, onions, beets, sunflower seeds, cheese and dressing. I could have quit right there and gone home without a single hunger pain. But no, I'd ordered this massive meal! The first slice of tri-tip was not pink at all but the rest of the meat was nicely pink as I'd requested. My potato remains in my take out box for the moment as does half my loaf of bread (the rest of which I shared with my spouse). Our waitress was fantastic - until she went on break at which time we were pretty much thrown to the wolves. I tripped the replacement waitress as she scurried by to get some sauce and eventually resorted to similar tactics to get a take out box and finally the bill. They should teach the art of reading faces to wait staff. Both of us had eyes glazed over with "Let's get out of here" not because we were impatient or couldn't stand the place, but simply because we'd already waited for about 15 minutes for the bill and it wasn't until I literally flagged down the gal and told her we needed the bill that we got it. Then there was the long (and I do mean LONG) wait at the cash register for them to actually TAKE our money. And yes, we followed procedure as outlined to us. I felt guilty for being out of sorts, but by the time we left, I just wanted to go home and didn't care that much about how terrific the food had tasted. Now that I am back in our hotel room, eating some leftover meat, I am happier. The reason there is not a fifth star on this review is that my spouse's food was not quite up to the same standards as mine. He had fish and chips. The oil was not fresh and the fish was overcooked. There was also an additional charge which was not explained to us at the time of ordering - or we would have ordered differently. If a charge is not clearly defined on the menu, it SEEMS that the wait staff should clearly state that an additional charge will be made because of a special request or need. In spite of that, and the inordinately long wait when our meal was done, we did have a good meal. read more
