Frankly, I think this is the best pizza in Boise. Everything is fresh, very tasty, the slices are big and the pies are huge! The owners give the restaurant a homey, family fun feel. This is the kind of Pizza place you remember from when you were a kid . . . except the pie is better and the restaurant is much cooler. They have the expected pizzas and some very unique creations. I'm not one to stray too far from the norm with Pizza, but they've talked me in to expanding my palate a little and I really haven't had anything I didn't enjoy. Very nice patio for hot summer evenings. They really support the community as well, the last time I was there they were sponsoring a guitar competition for younger players (teens) and gave the winner a performing spot at the restaurant. They are constantly involved and involving the community. I value that in a restaurant, they make you a part of the experience. I feel like I might be grading unnecessarily harsh for Lulu's. But when you offer up mediocrity and charge an arm and a leg for it, you're gonna get docked as a result. From personal experience, I'm not sure why they emphasize their New York style pizza on their website. I had their large NY pepperoni pizza, and it was easily the greasiest pizza I've had since moving here. Paper towels to soak up the grease were a necessity. I felt stupid for wanting to try a place other than Guido's for a NY style pie. And it's $7 cheaper at Guido's for the exact same style and size. Ridiculous. It took me about two years before I tried them again. I ended up getting a Spartan, a tomato-sauce free pie which included chicken, artichoke hearts, olives, spinach, tomatoes, and feta cheese. The diced tomatoes were nice, marinated in balsamic vinegar which gave the pizza a tangy kick. Even though it's one of those pizzas that doesn't cook long in the oven, my crust was still a little overdone. And they really skimped on the feta, which I love. The overall result was neither bad nor good. But when normally charging $25 for a large, you damn well better offer a stellar pizza, 20" in size or not. A large cheese pizza runs $18.50. $18.50!! I'd expect this kind of pricing if you were in a primo spot downtown, but not coming down from Bogus Basin. It reeks of "Let's gouge the starving Bogus Basin patrons as they come down off the hill." The decor is rather nice, and there's a covered patio that would be great to sit in during the summer months. And I will admit that the people I dealt with were very nice and personable. But I'm done here, because there are better pizza establishments to be had for both basic (Guido's) and specialty (Casanova, which isn't exactly cheap either but offers great and more creative pizza in my opinion). read more

Lulu's has one of the coolest vibes of all the pizza places in Boise! It's a somewhat small restaurant that serves pizzas, salad, and surprise - sushi? I ordered the dessert breadsticks and a large salad and both were great! The breaksticks were HUGE and covered in cinnamon sugar and buttery goodness, complete with a tasty icing dipping sauce. The salad had plenty of toppings and was a good value. Prices were reasonable and the service was decent. As far as entertainment goes, there was live music setting up when I was leaving and a TV to watch sports or whatever fits your fancy. Nice little stop on your way to and from Bogus! read more

I eat here at least twice a week and am always satisfied. When you buy by the slice from selections in the glass counter you can be in and out in under 5 minutes. I'm always keen on straight forward pepperoni, but love the other selections equally. They've been playing around with a taco pizza and it doesn't disappoint! Note, this is NY style - very flat, wide slices and pies. The prices are reasonable. The salads and sandwiches are just as good, but take some time to prepare, so budget accordingly. Also, they have sushi (separate business/owner I believe) co-locating next to the pizza counter, which may sound like a bad mix, but is great when you crave diversity. This place is Ok. The jalapeño pepperoni pizza was good, I also had the BBQ chicken which was fine. A little greasy, definitely New York style, thin crust, with a large bread rim; I'm a Chicagoan- so not my preference- but it tasted just fine. Front waitress taking food orders was terrible and surprising so rude. We came off the Bogus hill for some quick food. She's the first interaction and they need to get someone else. Native N ender, first time eating here. The pizza was pretty good, but similar to all the other pizza places around DT Boise. The sushi was embarrassing. The roll was too loose to pick up, and it wasn't even cut all the way through. The salmon tasted off, and it was just overall bland. Lulu's has the absolute rudest service in Boise. Tonight we ordered $150 is sushi. They took an hour to deliver it, forgot three rolls, and then acted as if we were the ones being unreasonable when we asked for the missing food. I will never patronize this restaurant again. Great spot for pizza and sushi alike. The Margherita pizza and Cesar salad have become a staple for hubs and I. Also, ordered a large Hawaiian for girls night and it was a huge, literally, success. Dine in or delivery are both great options as service is prompt and friendly either route. Very strange situation. I actually did not eat here. I had ordered delivery food from a different restaurant. I live in a secured building and saw a delivery man coming to the door i just assumed the food was for me. It took me a second to realize it was a Lulus delivery driver and I appologized and explained I had also just ordered food. The delivery driver was EXTREMELY rude about the situation and bluntly called me an idiot!!! After I had offered for him to come in and give it to the correct person. Decent lunch special deal (two slices + drink for $5), and occasionally they have some interesting stuff by the slice. But the basics are good. If you catch the pizzas fresh out of the oven, it's better than when they reheat. They tend to over-reheat the slices, and they get gooey. Crust is too thick to be called a NY pizza, but too thin to be a Chicago deep dish. Very kid friendly. Great family place. Free wifi (from them or the coffee shop next door, I'm not sure). Overall a very comfortable place to spend a few hours with a laptop if you need a break from home or office. read more

Stopped in for a quick slice to go. Saw that there was a sushi bar so figured I would order a roll and a slice. While waiting numerous people walked up to ask the status of their roll so at that point I knew I was in for the long haul. 30 minutes later I got a cold piece of pizza and the roll. The positive is the roll (firecracker) was very good. Unfortunately the cold pizza, that looked like it had been sitting for hours, left a bad taste in my mouth. It tasted like it had potential to be good but it wasn't. If you're going to put "pizza" in your name you should make sure it's on point, otherwise change the name to Lulus Sushi. This is an ideal spot to go if you are a family with young kids who basically only eat cheese pizza (i.e. my children) because the kids can order pizza and adults can order from the sushi side of the menu. Good pizza. Crust is proper and toppings are generous. Some creative choices available. If you don't like slices, and I don't, the smallest pie you can order is 16". I think a 10 or a 12 would be a wise offering, especially if you want to sell some of your other menu items. That brings me to my next point. What is the deal with the afterthought sushi bar? It's totally out of place and the obviously low turnover rate of the contents would put off any sushi lover. Note to owners/managers: you cannot run a restaurant to serve as a hangout for your family and friends, and still expect normal customers to be comfortable. Most of the small dining area was occupied by a large group just filling up space and encouraging their many children to have the run of the place. BAD FOR BUSINESS. Lulu's has hands-down probably one of the best gluten free pizza crusts in the Treasure Valley. Not your average thin, cardboard-like crust that you find with most gluten free pizzas. They have a doughy, fluffy hand-tossed crust that makes you remember what real pizza tastes like. My favorite topping combination is the North Ender -- veggies and a garlic sauce with plenty of cheese. I will knock one star off for the price. Pizzas here in general, and even more so gluten free pizzas will set you back a pretty penny. But well worth it in my opinion for some excellent gluten free pizza eats. read more

Before I say anything, let me just say... La Crema $26/bottle (and always wide variety of good affordable wines). This is one of my favorite neighborhood haunts... the pizza is unique new york style thin pizza with funky toppings (if you want them) or traditional marguarita if you prefer. And let me tell you about the salads... not a bad one in the bunch! The other thing that I totally love is that it's one of the few "sushi and something" places I can take my 5 year old and know that he won't be disappointed either... with their partner restaurant, Super Sushi. If you like the fusion sushi rolls totally go all out and get the "life is good" (one of the city's best rolls) or "life is better" roll. They also have this great roll with ginger crystals on it. yummo!. Oh, and in case I forgot to mention it... La Crema is a very reasonable $26/bottle. read more

Tonight (2/16) i offered to pay for my mother's meal on the way home from work because I heard she had a very stressful and hard day. I thought stopping at one of her favorite pizza places (we go every year for her birthday) would lift her spirits, but instead I found her in pieces on the couch when I got home. Apparently, when she inquired about a 25 minute wait time for a sushi roll with the lobby completely empty (a valid question) she was met with a hostile and jarring response. The guy behind the counter snapped at her with an annoyed tone about there being seven other orders ahead of her. She told me through tears that he stared her down with a mean look on his face. As if it was an inconvenience to answer her honest question. Frankly, I wish I was there when it happened so that I could defend my mom and correct the workers behavior but perhaps it's good I wasn't. This unpleasant encounter was the final straw for my mother and since she got home she has not come out of her room. What happened to customer service? I am so disappointed in your establishment for allowing this behavior. My family has been regulars at your restaurant for almost 10 years now and now our experience is marred by unacceptable rude behavior. My mother is a healthcare worker and has been working tirelessly to support the county in its battle against COVID, and her emotions have been pushed to their limits for months on end. The LAST place she should be further challenged is in your pizza place. Employees are rude and tacky. read more
